SHOCKING PLEA DEAL for Casey White After Jailhouse Lovers Hole up in Hotel With Take-Out, Sex Toys
2532
Casey White, the Alabama inmate freed by corrections officer Vicky White, reached a plea deal in connection with his escape. White pleaded guilty to first-degree escape in exchange for no prosecution for felony murder, meaning he will not be tried for his lover’s death. Jailer Vicky White commits suicide as cops close in on her and fellow fugitive Casey White. Authorities tracked down the Alabama outlaws to a motel in Evansville, Indiana. The pair attempted to flee when they realized police had found them, which led to a chase. A released 911 call appears to contain the last words of Vicky White. As sirens screech in the background, a woman’s voice says, "Airbags are going off! Let’s get out and run! We never should have left the hotel." Dashcam video also reveals that when the vehicle rolled over, police could see that Vicky was holding a gun to her head. “She still has the gun in her hands,” one officer says in the video, “Finger’s on the trigger.” Vicky White was hospitalized and died hours later. Casey White was extradited back to Alabama, where he has been charged with MURDER. He is already facing capital murder charges in connection with the death of Connie Ridgeway in 2015. Sentencing for his escape is June 8. White is expected to receive a life sentence. Joining Nancy Grace Today:

Slay Suspect Bryan Kohberger Spies on Female Colleague Thru Digicam?
2239
Today’s arraignment for Bryan Kohberger will be the first time the accused killer has been in court since his initial appearance after his arrest. Kohberger was indicted last week as a grand jury found there was sufficient evidence to move forward with formal charges. That evidence will not be revealed at this hearing. Kohberger will be required to enter a plea on the 5 charges against him, four counts of first-degree murder and one count of burglary. During the arraignment, the judge will reiterate Kohberger’s rights and read the charges against him, asking for a plea on each charge. In Idaho, there are only two pleas, guilty or not guilty, and a date for trial will be set. If Kohberger refuses to enter a plea or fails to appear, the court will enter a not-guilty plea on his behalf. Kohberger’s attorney has repeatedly said his client looks forward to clearing his name. New information has been uncovered in the days before the arraignment. Bryan Kohberger was involved in another crime that happened before the student murders. This incident reportedly involved a female co-worker at Washington State University, according to a Dateline Report. Someone allegedly broke into the woman's apartment and moved things around. Instead of calling police, the co-worker called Kohberger, who suggested and helped her, install security cameras. The report says Kohberger was behind that break-in and used those cameras to spy on her. Joining Nancy Grace Today:

2693
In less than seven hours of deliberations, twelve Idaho jurors found Lori Vallow guilty of killing her two children and her current husband’s then-wife, The most shocking event in court this week is the fact that the defense did not put on a defense. After the prosecutor ended its case, defense attorneys told the judge that Vallow's team did not believe the state proved its case, so they did not have a reason to present a case. Killer Mom Julie Schenecker Shoots 'Mouthy' Children: New Trial?
2453
Convicted killer Julie Schenecker returned to a Tampa courtroom begging a judge to grant her a new trial. Schenecker argued that her former lawyers made many mistakes and that media coverage tainted the jury. That argument didn't convince a judge however. On January 27, 2011, Julie Schenecker did the unthinkable: Armed with a .38 revolver she had purchased five days before, the former Russian linguist fatally shot her teenage children in the head. Beau Schenecker, 13, was found dead in a car parked in the garage of the Scheneker’s upscale Tampa home; 16-year-old Calyx had been placed in her bed after was killed. Julie Schenecker reportedly lifted her daughter’s mouth in the shape of a smile in a bizarre staging of the body. Calyx had been doing her homework on the computer in another room when Julie Schenecker came up behind her and shot her in the head, then in the face. Julie had already killed Beau, reportedly shooting him in the head as they were in the car, headed to soccer practice. Julie’s husband Parker Schenecker, at the time an army colonel, was stationed in Qatar when his children were killed. In an interview with police just after the double homicide, Julie Schenecker admitted to shooting the children. She later changed her story, and said that she "saved them" Beau from alleged sexual abuse, and Calyx from mental illness. Read the full story on CrimeOnline Joining Nancy Grace today:

Funke's attorney filed a motion, arguing that there is "no further information or detail pertaining to the substance of the testimony, its materiality, or the alleged exculpatory information of Ms. Funke or why it would be entertained at preliminary hearing.” Funke’s lawyer also argues that Nevada law requires a hearing before the subpoena could be issued. Ron Youngblood retired from the military, and despite the divorce, the entire family planned to move to Missouri. Veronica Youngblood would get an apartment near Ron Youngblood's new home. As the time to move grew nearer, Veronica Youngblood changed her mind. Ron did not. Brooklyn was shot in the head as she slept. Sharon was shot in the chest and back. Sharon managed to call 911, telling the dispatcher that her mother shot her. Veronica Youngblood ran, but even as she did she called her ex-husband, Ron Youngblood, to tell him that she'd shot the children and she hated him. Joining Nancy Grace today:

Mommy: 'I Sold My 6-y-o Boy to Stranger at Market'
2424
Last November was the last time 6-year-old Noel Rodriguez Alvarez was seen. A tip to police prompted a wellness visit and then, Everman police and other investigators began a physical search for the boy after determining the mother gave a false story about Noel being in Mexico with his father. Turns out the father has never even met his son. Family members also reported that Cindy Rodriguez Singh told a family member she sold him to someone at a grocery store. Singh, her new husband, and 6 other children left the US for India 3 days after the initial welfare check. Police now say Noel's stepfather disposed of a large indoor/outdoor carpet at a nearby dumpster before they left. Investigators recovered that carpet and say it was used in the makeshift shed that was later torn down to build a suspicious concrete patio. Cadaver dogs were bought in and alerted to the topsoil, but no remains were found. Joining Nancy Grace Today:

Cult Mom Lori Vallow asks the judge to be allowed to leave the courtroom as photos of the decomposing bodies of her two children are shown to the jury. The judge denied the request. Vallow then turned away from the scene, keeping her eyes shut during the display. Rexburg Police Detective Ray Hermosillo testified that 16-year-old Tylee’s body had been burned and destroyed, with the tissue remains placed in a partially melted plastic green bucket. JJ was wrapped in plastic, sealed by tape. The search was reportedly so intense that officers got down on their "hands and knees" while digging. Bryan Kohberger Keeps Damning 'Souvenir' From Idaho Quadruple Student Slay?
2544
An unsealed search warrant states that six weeks after the Idaho student murders, officers found ID cards connected to the victims in Bryan Kohberger’s possession. Reportedly, the cards were found during a search of one of Bryan Kohberger’s homes. but where were they exactly? Initial reports on the search warrant say the ID cards were “inside glove, inside box," leading some to believe that the ID cards were found inside the glovebox of Bryan Kohberger's car. Police would not confirm the report because of the gag order in the case. Dailymail.com reporter Caitlyn Becker says, however, based on her review of the search warrant, the ID cards had been hidden away in Kohberger's parent's home. Becker reports the cards were found "inside a glove, inside a box" in the Albrightsville home, suggesting Kohberger had deliberately hidden the cards. Police also believe they have evidence that could connect Kohlberger to what police are viewing as cyberstalking of someone from the Moscow residence. Joining Nancy Grace Today:

In fact, she wrote emails suggesting solutions to the school, like a "Trauma Club" where bullied kids would have a safe place to what was going on. No one replied. A judge sentenced Aiden Fucci, now 16, to life in prison after his conviction of first-degree murder for stabbing a 13-year-old girl over 100 times. Fucci entered his guilty plea earlier this year. During the investigation surveillance photos show the mother of teen murder suspect Aiden Fucci washing his clothes the day Tristyn Bailey was murdered. Crystal Smith was arrested and charged with tampering with evidence in connection to the 14-year-old's death. The former classmates had grown up in the same neighborhood but it does not appear that Fucci targeted Bailey specifically, though friends later said Fucci claimed he would kill someone in the near future. BOMBSHELL TROUBLE FOR ALEX MURDAUGH: Teen Stephen Smith Death is Homicide
2646
It has taken eight years but teen Stephen Smith's death will finally be investigated as a homicide. The Smith family has never believed that the 19-year-old's death was a hit and run as determined by a previous investigation. In just a week, the South Carolina mom raised more money through a GoFundMe account than what is needed to pay for the exhumation of Smith's body. Now, all that's needed is court approval. South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) Chief Mark Keel notified Smith's attorneys that the agency now officially considers Smith's death a murder. Smith's body was found miles away from his car and lying in the middle of the road. At first, responders thought he had been shot in the head, but the death was designated as a hit-and-run. Stephen Smith Body Exhumation to Determine Cause of Death
1617
More than eight years after the death of South Carolina teen Stephen Smith, a push is on to have his body exhumed to determine his cause of death. A driver called 911 to report finding Smith's body in the middle of the road. Police say the 19-year-old had blunt force trauma to his head. At first police believed the injury to be a gunshot wound, but the coroner's office later rules Smith's death a hit-and-run. Smith's car had run out of gas. His family say there's no way Smith would have been walking in the middle of the road. Rumors and gossip about a Murdaugh family connection to this death have swirled for years, however nothing concrete has brought forward. More investigation revealed that German's reporting put him at odds with Telles. German reported that Telles created a toxic work environment and was having an extra-marital affair with an employee. These claims seem to have cost Telles his re-election bid. Investigators searched Robert Telles' home, towing a red SUV, and finding shoes with apparent blood on them. A straw hat matching the one shown in the video was also found. Both articles had been cut up in an effort to destroy evidence, but DNA under German's fingernails told police everything they needed to know. Joining Nancy Grace Today:

Teen Perp Accused in Rape, Death of LSU Coed CHARGED AS ADULT
1476
The minor accused of raping Madison Brooks in the back seat of a car will be tried as an adult. Desmond Carter, 17, has been indicted for first-degree rape and third-degree rape. Kaivon Washington, 18, is also charged with third-degree rape. Everette Lee, 28, and Casen Carver, 18, were charged with principal to third-degree rape, which means they were there when the incident occurred but did not take part in it. LSU student Madison Brooks is killed after being hit by a car. Brooks was standing in the road at the time. Police say Brooks left a Tigerland bar with four men. Two of the men, then allegedly rape the very inebriated 19-year-old. When Brooks cannot give the men her address, she is dropped off around 3 a.m. in a random neighborhood. That is when Brooks is hit by the car. That driver showed no signs or evidence of being impaired. At first police said the suspects videotaped the assault but in the last hours, recanted those comments and apologized for the error. There is, however, a video of Brooks arguing with the men in the car. The four men who left with Brooks claim the sex was consensual, but hospital staff says Brooks' blood alcohol level was nearly 4 times the legal limit. Nancy Grace discusses the latest in the case with Atlanta Attorney and LSU grad Renee Rockwell.

Alex Murdaugh: Behavior of an Addict
1659
Alex Murdaugh admitted to jurors that he has been using opioid drugs for more than twenty years. At times, he said, he was spending as much as $50,000 a week on drugs. Murdaugh said his addiction began with a college football injury which lead to multiple surgeries and prescription pain medication. Murdaugh said that he soon became dependent. The accused killer also told the jurors that he had tried to get help several times but relapsed each time. Murdaugh said it was his addiction that led him to steal from the law firm, clients and his own family. Murdaugh also said it was his addiction and paranoia that impelled him to lie about his whereabouts on the night of the murder. Nancy Grace talks with addiction expert Dr. William Morrone, Author of “American Narcan," about how the opiates could have affected Murdaugh's actions. Is Alex Murdaugh Believable?
1650
Alex Murdaugh's testimony at times seems more like a circus than a courtroom with talk of dogs, and chickens. Murdaugh first related at length how he removed a chicken from his dog's month and the timing of it at the kennel. Then under cross-examination, the accused killer went over the activities at the kennel again, in exactly detail. Both the defense and prosecution look to use this testimony. One side saying the information proves Alex Murdaugh could not be a killer, the other side saying the testimony shows he lied. Murdaugh has repeatedly admitted that he stole money from clients and loved ones. He also admitted that he lied to police. So the question now is, can a jury believe that Murdaugh is now telling the truth when he says that he did not kill his wife and son. Nancy Grace and Sheryl McCollum, Founder: Cold Case Investigative Research Institute, look at the possibilities. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information. |

Alex Murdaugh could take the stand in his own defense on Thursday. New reports speculated on whether the accused killer will take the stand. Judge Clifton Newman said any ruling would be made as they happened, not before the testimony. Also in court today, Murdaugh's former friend and law partner testified about going to Moselle after hearing about the murders. Alex Murdaugh Defense: ‘Killer is Short’
3512
Alex Murdaugh's defense team began their day in court by calling Buster Murdaugh to the stand. He insisted that his father was “heartbroken” and “destroyed” after finding the bodies of his wife and son. The disgraced lawyer seemed to wipe away tears as his son said, “He asked me if I was sitting down … he sounded odd and then he told me that my mom and brother had been shot.” We also learned in testimony that just after discovering the bodies, Murdaugh searched online for a popular South Carolina restaurant. His phone records show a search for ‘Whaley’s Edisto’ in Safari browser” at 10:40 p.m. This timeline shows Murdaugh was still at the crime scene just 15 minutes after the first cop arrived. The restaurant he searched is one of the oldest in Edisto — where the Murdaughs’ main house is located. Later in the testimony, a forensic expert testified that Alex Murdaugh was too tall to be the shooter. Joining Nancy Grace today:

After 61 witnesses, prosecutors in Alex Murdaugh’s double murder trial have rested their case. Once the long holiday weekend is over, the defense will continue to call its witnesses. Murdaugh's attorneys called two witnesses after the lunch break. Attorneys Dick Harpootlian and Jim Griffin say they expect their case to take about a week. Key testimony today before the prosecution rested included new phone data information, including the fact that Alex Murdaugh called 911 roughly 14 seconds after allegedly discovering his wife and son's bodies. The data also showed Maggie Murdaugh's phone moving at the same time as her husband's vehicle. The data indicated that Murdaugh's vehicle sped up quickly, and away from the location where Maggie Murdaugh's phone was found. Prosecutors can then put on a rebuttal case. Joining Nancy Grace today:

In fact, Paul stood for a moment and began moving toward his killer, before he was hit with the second fatal shot. Kensey told jurors that the blood pattern proved this. Judge Clifton Newman also reversed his decision about allowing testimony on Murdaugh's alleged botched suicide plot. Alex Murdaugh: 'THAT'S NOT ME" in Damning Video
3679
Another bombshell in the courtroom today as Judge Clifton Newman ruled that testimony regarding Alex Murdaugh's alleged roadside shooting. September 2021, Murdaugh claimed he asked another man to shoot him so his surviving son could obtain millions in life insurance. Judge Newman ruled that the roadside shooting would be a “bridge too far” and “does not meet the logical relevancy test.” In testimony today, the jury in Alex Murdaugh’s double murder trial saw more footage of Alex Murdaugh's interviews with state investigators. SLED agent Lt. David Owen testified about his question in of Murdaugh. Owen said at the time Murdaugh was “the only known suspect” in the case. The footage shows Murdaugh being confronted with inconsistencies in his statements: specifically that Murdaugh claimed he ate dinner with his family, took a nap, and then drove to his mother's. He said he discovered the bodies when he returned. Regarding the video taken by his son, Murdaugh denies that it is his voice in the video. Murdaugh tells Owens that at 9 p.m. he was not at the kennels. The fact that Murdaugh had changed clothes was also brought up. Maggie Murdaugh's sister testified that Alex never seems scared while everyone else was. She also testified that her sister thought Murdaugh had an affair 15 years ago. Joining Nancy Grace today:

Did Alex Murdaugh Use Hose to Wash Crime Scene?

Puddles of water became the focus of cross-examination today of the man who took care of Alex Murdaugh’s dogs. Dale Davis testified that puddles of water were not where they should have been when police responded to the murders. Dale Davis said that when he left the afternoon of the murders, that water hose that he meticulously hung up was on the ground in a video reportedly taken by Paul Murdaugh. Roger Dale Davis Jr., cleaned the Murdaugh’s dog kennels twice daily. His routine involved hosing down the kennels with a hose. Davis would them roll up the hose oto keep it from breaking or kinking and then hang it outside. Murdaugh Murders: Bomb Threat Halts Testimony in Trial
3523
A bomb threat halted testimony today in Alex Murdaugh's double murder trial. The courthouse was evacuated. Testimony resumed at 2:30 p.m. and ended early at 4:30 p.m. Court resumes tomorrow morning. During the two hours of afternoon testimony, FBI electronics engineer Dwight Falkofske discussed his analysis of the computer data on Murdaugh's 2021 Chevrolet Suburban. Every time Murdaugh put his car in park on the night of the murders, it was recorded. The data appeared to suggest that Alex had only visited his mother for about 20 minutes that night. That is shorter than the amount of time Murdaugh told investigators. Joining Nancy Grace today:

Murdaugh Murders: Murdaugh Bullies Witness for Alibi
3558
Bombshells in the courtroom today as the judge in Alex Murdaugh’s double murder trial rules that the state may present evidence of the now-disbarred South Carolina attorney’s alleged financial crimes. The prosecution contends that the fact that these crimes were about to be revealed provided Murdaugh with a motive for murder. Also heard in court today was testimony surrounding the "blue tarp" found on the second floor of Alex Murdaugh's mother's home. That blue tarp, under testing, showed gun residue. According to Shelly Smith, a caregiver for Murdaugh's mother, Alex came by one week after the murders carrying a balled-up blue tarp. It appeared to have something inside it. Murdaugh Murders: WAS MAGGIE MURDAUGH KILLED WITH FAMILY GUN?
3367
Both emotional and technical testimony today in Alex Murdaugh's murder trial. The day started with Alex Murdaugh's defense lawyer grilling ballistics expert Paul Greer Greer testified older shell casings found on the Murdaugh's estate and those found near Maggie Murdaugh's body were shot by the same weapon. Defense lawyer Jim Griffin Greer challenged the testimony on the accuracy and creditability of what he called the "subjective" techniques used in firearms examinations. Alex Murdaugh's former best friend, Chris Wilson, shed tears as he recounted how Alex Murdaugh asked for money as allegations of financial crimes came to light. Murdaugh Murders: Did Murdaugh Discard Bloody Clothes?
3359
The chief financial officer of Alex Murdaugh’s former law firm took the stand today, testifying that she confronted Alex about missing money the same day his wife and son were killed. Jeanne Seckinger told the court that she and Alex discussed structured settlements regarding the boat crash involving Paul. Alex reportedly sent those funds to Forge Consulting and was putting money in his wife’s name. Alex allegedly said he was sending the money to Forge as a favor to a friend, Michael Gunn, who was a top employee there. In February 2019, Paul reportedly crashed his boat into Archer’s Creek Bridge killing Mallory Beach. The teen was ejected from the boat; five other people aboard were injured. Paul was charged with felony boating under the influence. Also, did Alex Murdaugh change clothes before police arrived at Maggie and Paul Murdaugh's murder scene? MURDAUGH BOMBSHELL: "I DID HIM SO BAD"
3193
Five words are a major focus at Alex Murdaugh's murder trial. During a recorded conversation with investigators three days after the killings, the police body cam footage shows Murdaugh saying, “It’s just so bad. I did him so bad." He’s such a good boy, too.” Many are claiming this is a possible slip-up, a statement of guilt in the death of his son. Defense attorneys however pushed a SLED agent to say that it was possible that Murdaugh said "they" not "I," but the agent did not waver from his original assessment. Prosecutors went through the bullet evidence in detail looking at each casing, giving its caliber and recovery location. Also discussed in court today were phone records of the victims and how they were tied to the timelines of their deaths. Joining Nancy Grace today:

Murdaugh Murders: Defense Claims Two Shooters
3523
SLED Special Agent Jeff Croft took the stand today in Alex Murdaugh's trial, testifying on several matters related to the night Maggie and Paul Murdaugh were murdered. Croft told the jury that he interviewed Paul Murdaugh's good friend, Rogan Gibson, about the phone exchanges between himself and Paul, minutes before Paul was shot to death. Paul was caring for Gibson's dog, and they were discussing a possible problem with his tail. Croft testified that after Paul Murdaugh did not respond to a text, Gibson texted Maggie Murdaug, asking her to pass on a message to Paul to call Gibson. Croft also testified that he entered the main residence of the Murdaugh's hunting property the day after the murders. Croft explains to jurors what they were seeing in body camera footage. He described how he arrived at the property and found spent .300 Blackout shell casings outside the exterior door of the gunroom. Prosecutors say they matched the casings found near Maggie Murdaugh's body. Croft testified he was also looking for a 12 gauge shotgun as 12 gauge shell casings were found near Paul's body. There was not a gun found in the gun cabinet. Earlier in the day, defense attorney Dick Harpootlian was examining a crime scene tech of the trajectory angle of the bullets that killed Maggie and Paul Murdaugh suggested the possibility if not likelihood of two shooters. Finally an Arrest! Microsoft Hubby, Dad of 4, Ambushed, Shot Dead
1847
61-year-old ex con Henry Tenon has been arrested and charged in the death of Jared Bridegan. Tennon has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder, accessory after the fact to a capital felony, child abuse and second-degree murder. The child abuse charge comes as Bridegan's 2-year-daughter is in the car when he was shot. The conspiracy charge means more arrests are expected, but the documents related to the arrest are sealed. An investigation shows that Tennon once lived in a home owned by ex-wife Shanna Gardner-Fernandez's new husband Mario Fernandez. The night the 33-year-old Microsoft executive was shot, he drops his twins off at the home of his ex-wife, Shanna Gardner-Fernandez. Bridegan is with his 2-year-daughter as he drives home. On their way home, Bridegan stops to remove a tire from the middle of the road. There's no room to drive around it. That's when the Microsoft executive is shot and killed by an unknown assailant. The little girl, Bexley, is reportedly in the car for several minutes as her father dies. Bridegan has been in lengthy custody and alimony disputes with his former wife and reportedly she has now hired a high-powered criminal defense attorney. The investigation continues. LSU student Madison Brooks is killed after being hit by a car. Brooks was standing in the road at the time, but why? Police say Brooks left a Tigerland bar with four men. Two of the men, then allegedly rape the very inebriated 19-year-old. When Brooks cannot give the men her address, she is dropped off around 3 a.m. in a random neighborhood. That is when Brooks is hit by the car. That driver showed no signs or evidence of being impaired. The four men who left with Brooks have been arrested. They claim the sex was consensual, but hospital staff says Brooks' blood alcohol level was nearly 4 times the legal limit. Kaivon Washington, 18, and an unidentified 17-year-old minor are charged with third-degree rape. BOMBSHELL OPENS in Alex Murdaugh Murder Trial
2462
Dramatic opening statements from both the prosecution and defense in the Alex Murdaugh murder trial as both attorneys laid out different versions of the same story. Prosecutors say forensics will prove Murdaugh, 54, killed his wife and son. Defense attorney Dick Harpootlian says however that there is no forensic evidence to tie Murdoch to the murders. Harpootlian suggested that the crime may have been the work of two people because of two different weapons. The rifle that killed Maggie Murdaugh has not been found. Murdaugh could be seen visually emotional as his attorney laid out in graphic detail the injuries Maggie and Paul Murdaugh suffered. CAN BULLET EVIDENCE PROVE ALEX MURDAUGH IS A KILLER?
2458
Jury selection continues Alex Murdaugh murder trial with opening statements expected later in the day. Over the past two days, motions have been filed by the defense asking the judge to not allow some evidence be presented, including ballistics and some of the state's expert witness testimony. The judge ruled that a ballistics expert, a SLED agent, was credible. Another point of contention, blood spatter evidence. The defense says the white t-shirt worn by Murdaugh, which the state says has blood spatter on it, has been damaged by testing so that defense experts cannot conduct their own tests. Both prosecutors and the defense agreed not to bring up the blood spatter evidence during opening arguments.

JURY SELECTION :Legal Heir Alex Murdaugh, Suspect in Wife and Son's Murders
2504
Before the start of jury selection in the murder trial of former Lowcountry attorney Alex Murdaugh, his defense team had already filed a motion seeking to block testimony on potential blood evidence. Jury selection continues in Alex Murdaugh's murder trial. He's accused of shooting his wife, Maggie, and youngest son, Paul. More than 900 potential jurors were called and then divided up into panels. 32 jurors qualified from the first group. After the other groups are polled, the actual jurors and alternates would be selected from the parred-down pool. Blood spatter evidence is also being discussed by the lawyers and the judge. Defense attorneys have filed a motion to block testimony on potential blood evidence. Murdaugh was wearing a white t-shirt when he arrived at the property. Murdaugh’s defense team argues that their expert, after reviewing a report and analysis from a prosecution witness, said he could not form an opinion on whether the blood stains on Murdaugh’s shirt were consistent with back spatter from a gunshot. The shooting on set during the production of the film, "Rust." Baldwin was allegedly four feet from the crew on set in a mock church pew when he used his right hand to reach across his body to grab the gun holstered on his left side. The McConney family decides to take a Christmas vacation. It was a welcome break after the troubling situation the family found themselves in. Weeks before Christmas, Heather McConney opened her son’s phone, stumbling on disturbing conversations. 13-year-old Evan McConney had been communicating with a stranger through the online game Roblox. The two also reportedly communicated through Oculus, a virtual reality device. The parents then made all the right steps. They took away Evans’ devices and turned them over to Layton police. The McConney family returned home from vacation on Monday. When the family woke up, Tuesday morning Evan was gone. An investigation revealed Evan McConney and his online “friend” had been exchanging “sexual and inappropriate” messages for about three weeks. While Evan’s mom had taken steps to end the contact, the two reportedly found new ways to talk. Evan McConney joined a Discord chat at his new friend’s invitation. It was through those chats that the two allegedly arranged to have McConney picked up from his home. Evan even took his passport with him, after his new friend encouraged him. CATFISHER COP Murders Family to 'ROMANCE' Teen Girl, Has More Victims
2543
Austin Lee Edwards poses as a 17-year-old boy to talk online with a 15-year-old girl. He then drives across the country to her Riverside home when she stops responding. Edwards parks in a neighbor's driveway and goes inside the Winek home. Edwards kills the girl's mother and grandparents, sets the home on fire, and leaves with the girl. Now we learn that Edwards had groomed at least one other victim. He was stalking and pressuring the minor for nude photographs. The Los Angeles Times reports the now 21-year-old woman, who was not identified, was 13 years old when she met Edwards, then 20, on the online messaging platform Omegle. The woman provided the Times with more than 4,000 messages sent in the two-year period after the two began corresponding over Skype, reflecting a sexually and emotionally toxic conversation. “YO WHAT THE F**** I SAID I WANTED TITS WAITING ON ME WHEN I GOT BACK,” Edwards reportedly wrote in one message. The woman, then a tween, replied, “iM SORRY.” In 2016, as she began to pull away from him, Edwards began suggesting in video calls and text messages that he was hurting himself. Over one call, he showed her an injury that matched details of a police report around that time that ended with Edwards’ temporary detention in a psychiatric facility. The woman told the Times she’d only realized she had post-traumatic symptoms years after finally blocking Edwards. “He did a lot of damage to me,” she said. A neighbor calls police after noticing Edwards leading the girl, who "appeared distressed," into his car. Another neighbor also calls 911 after seeing flames coming from the home. When police arrive, Edwards and the girl are gone. Brooke, Sherie, and Mark Winek's bodies are found inside the home; Brooke Winek's other daughter is not home. Police get Edward's license plate from cameras in Winek's neighborhood and track him into the Mojave Desert. A helicopter spots the car and cops pursue Edwards, who fires at the officers. Edwards turns the gun on himself and crashes the car. The girl was unharmed during the kidnapping and is now in protective custody. Joining Nancy Grace Today: |
