Join me for the incredible FREE Ideas to Income challenge -

When we come up with new ideas, all this pressure builds out of nowhere that makes you feel like you’re supposed to just get on with it and turn it into a success right away.

But the reality is that the best ideas just don’t happen that quickly. Great results take time.

It’s so easy to slip into the mindset that we need to get amazing results fast, and that if we’re not getting results fast, it means we’re failing.

So many of us experience this when we have an idea to do something… whether that’s to create a course, build a membership, or write a book for example.

If you’ve ever felt like that, or you’re teetering on the edge of giving up, I want to share 3 powerful things you can try when you feel frustrated. They will inspire you to hang in there and to keep believing that your ideas deserve time.

140: How To Plan Your Best Year Ever

Success is not an accident, we have to make it happen on purpose.

If you want to live an amazing life, or even just make next year way better than this year, then you have to get intentional about it, about what you want to manifest into your life over the next 12 months and the kind of person you want to be.

It’s so easy to get hung up on our self-doubt and the limitations we make up in our minds. We convince ourselves that we need to be more “realistic”, that it’s silly to dream so big.

That’s why every year it’s so important to give ourselves permission once again to dream big, to get excited about the possibilities, to reconnect with ourselves and get intentional about what we truly want to experience in our lives.

So in this week’s episode we’re going through this process together and planning our best year ever!

I hope this episode inspires you to decide and commit that you’re going to make 2022 a bloody amazing year and just go for it.

Get lost in the magic of dreaming big and imagining all the possibilities, and then create your plan to make it all happen!
If you’d love to set yourself up for a really amazing year, don’t forget to save your spot for our upcoming Ideas To Income Challenge - we’ll show you what you need to do to create so much success in 2022. It’s FREE and it’s going to be absolutely incredible.

139: How To Stop Getting Hung Up On What To Offer

As entrepreneurs it’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking that until we’re clear on what we offer and until we have a product to sell, then there’s no use in showing up and sharing content online.

But this couldn’t be further from the truth - in fact it’s a common misconception that keeps so many entrepreneurs stuck from ever really building momentum and growing their audience.

We hold ourselves back because we think we need to have everything figured out, rather than giving ourselves permission to just show up, be of service and have meaningful conversations with the people in our community.

Showing up when you have nothing to sell is one of the most powerful things you can do for your business and for your audience, so in this week’s episode I’m sharing some tips and a change in perspective that helped me to overcome this and I know it will help you too!

138: 7 Lessons I Learned From Growing My Team

A lot of us as entrepreneurs tend to be creative, ideas people. But you reach a point in your business when you can no longer do everything yourself and you have to hire people to help you.

Apart from the challenge of finding the right people, growing a team also means putting systems in place, creating structures to make everything work, managing boundaries, expectations, emotions, conflicts and so much more. It also means that you naturally have to shift away from focusing on the creative side of your business and more towards figuring out the operational and people management side instead.

So many entrepreneurs struggle with this when they first start growing their team, and when other people are involved, mistakes you make don’t only impact you, but your team members too.

So in this episode I’m sharing with you the biggest mistakes I’ve made over the past few years of growing my team and the 7 biggest lessons I learned that I know will be really helpful for you if you’re looking to hire new people into your business.

134: The Best YouTube Strategy to Grow Your Business (With Sunny Lenarduzzi)

So many entrepreneurs want to create their own YouTube channel but don’t know where to start! If you have ever wondered how you could leverage YouTube to grow your business, you’re going to love this episode of the She Means Business Show!

The amazing thing about YouTube is that your content lives on and works for years, it doesn’t just disappear after a few hours like it does on social media platforms!

So in this episode I’m chatting with the amazing Sunny Lenarduzzi! She’s a social media consultant and business growth coach and has grown her YouTube channel to over 500,000 subscribers!

When we wanted help to leverage YouTube for FEA, we bought her course because her information is so good, which is why I’m so excited for you to listen to this episode!

In it we talk about:

  • The 3 types of content that you need to create as an entrepreneur on YouTube.
  • How Sunny started out on YouTube (completely by mistake!).
  • The most important type of content you need to create as an entrepreneur (and how to generate leads on autopilot).
  • Why viral content isn’t always a good thing (and how to use it properly).
  • The metrics that really matter on YouTube (and it’s not the number of views!).
  • How to come up with content topics.
  • The formula for success on YouTube.
  • The results you can expect when you focus on value instead of virality.

Sunny shares so many amazing insights and strategies and if you want to learn more from her, you can find her at:

Which is why I’m so excited to be chatting to the incredible Angela Foster in this episode!

Angela is a Health & Performance Coach and the stuff she teaches is incredible.

  • Why sleep is so essential for wellbeing, creativity and success.

If you feel like you’re sitting on some amazing business ideas but you don’t know what to do about it, then this episode is for you!

Back in 2005 when I started my first business doing mobile phone unlocking, I had no idea what I was doing or how to make it successful. I just winged it until I managed to make it work.

A few years later, when I came up with the idea for the Female Entrepreneur Association, I was drowning in doubt and wondering to myself, “who am I to do this?!”.

It felt so much easier to procrastinate and just do nothing about it, so I stayed stuck for 3 whole years before I actually went ahead and did something about it!

So many of us are sitting on amazing ideas, but sometimes we just can’t get out of our own way to make the progress we desire.

125: How to Work Less and Achieve More

How do we get stuff done that gets results?

So often we end up feeling really busy doing a lot of stuff but not actually getting results. I get asked a lot how do I manage my time effectively juggling children, building a business, or having a full time job and building a business.

It can be so crazy to have another priority and a business, it’s overwhelming at times - for me, balancing being a mum and having a business has been a real struggle at times.

Manage my time effectively and getting things done, I felt so irritated with myself that I wasn’t making progress - you know how it feels when you’ve got these big dreams and goals but you don’t seem to be getting anywhere with them. It’s so annoying and frustrating.

I had a big shift in realisation that have hugely changed the way I approach managing my time and I wanted to share it with you.

The fact that you’re busy and you also have other priorities outside of your business doesn't mean that you can’t build a wildly successful business - you definitely can! And I'm going to show you how :)

124: Find Your Niche and Unlock Your Unique Path to Success

When it comes to learning or achieving anything new in life, the process is always so much easier and quicker when you follow in the footsteps of someone who has done it before you, rather than trying to figure it all out for yourself.

Success leaves clues, and the achievements of others before you can be the shortcuts to your own success. But it’s also so important to find out what your own version of success is, what John Lee Dumas - of the amazing Entrepreneurs on Fire podcast - likes to call, your “zone of fire”.

Since 2012 John has been producing a daily podcast where he has now interviewed over 3,000 of the most incredible entrepreneurs such as Amy Porterfield, Lewis Howes, Marie Forleo, Tim Ferris, Ramit Sethi, Neil Patel, Barbara Corcoran and Pat Flynn to name a few.

That was his zone of fire.

Committing to doing that podcast every day not only helped John build a huge multi-million dollar business, it also gave him insight into the roadmap that all these entrepreneurs seem to have in common when it comes to creating success.

So in this episode John and I talk about:

  • How he took 10 years of knowledge and 3,000 conversations with amazing entrepreneurs and turned them into 17 steps for success for his upcoming book, The Common Path To Uncommon Success.
  • How John started out as an officer in the U.S. Army and then spent 6 years switching careers and looking for his zone of genius.
  • Why making a commitment to creating a daily podcast changed his life.
  • Finding your “big” idea that aligns with your unique zone of fire.
  • Overcoming impostor syndrome and committing to your ideas.
  • Why John has shared his monthly income reports since day one.
  • Why it’s so important to get clear on what success looks like for you and how John runs his business in alignment with the kind of lifestyle he wants to live.
  • The biggest lie that many experts share.

You can pre-order John’s book, The Common Path To Uncommon Success right here

In this episode, we cover so much and Heather shares so many amazing tips around the struggles of being a mum, building a business, overcoming anxiety and guilt, feeling good enough and trusting yourself.

Throughout the episode we chat about:

120: Creating Revenue Streams That Actually Work

Looking around at successful 6, 7, even 8 figure entrepreneurs, it’s difficult not to feel stuck if you’re still not seeing the kind of income you’d like from your business or revenue stream.

But speaking from my experience, it takes time, patience and perseverance to make money from any idea or business, no matter what it is.

When I started out, I just had a dream and a desire to help other people, but I had no clue how I was going to make it happen or make money from it!

I just knew that if I built an audience of people who loved what my message was about, I would be able to find a way to make money from it.

So over the years I tried 12 different revenue streams to see what worked for me!

7 of them didn’t work out very well but 5 of them have made millions and allowed me to build a multiple 7-figure business!

So many entrepreneurs fail simply because they give up if their first revenue stream doesn’t make money within a few months and I don’t want that to be you! So in this episode I share:

  • How I came up with the idea for FEA and what I focused on when I got started.
  • The first things I tried that made money in FEA (and why I didn’t really want to do some of them again!).
  • How I created passive income for the first time ever with a simple digital product.
  • The revenue stream that helped me break through my money mindset blocks (and gave me the opportunity to work with Amy Porterfield, Lewis Howes, James Wedmore and more!).
  • How I finally found the perfect revenue stream (that has made millions over the past few years!).
  • My top 5 favourite revenue streams out of the 12 I have tried and why they have worked so well for me.
  • The best insights I’ve learned over 10 years of growing FEA about what it takes to create revenue streams that actually work.

I hope this episode sparks loads of ideas and inspiration and if you have a question you’d love me to answer or a challenge you’re facing in your business, drop a comment below or send us a DM on Instagram and I’ll try to make a future episode to answer you directly!

And if you would love to understand what type of entrepreneur you are and discover the kind of business game plan that best suits your personality, I’ve got you covered with this fun quiz. Try it out!

119: Turn Your Creative Talents Into A Successful Business

Building a successful business or turning any dream into reality is never an easy feat.

In fact, we all have to face challenges, rejections and failures on the way to making it happen. It’s all part of the process.

So many of us just hold back, waiting for everything to fall into place, for someone to give us our chance or for things to be perfect.

So Trey Anthony turned her talents into success by doing the exact opposite.

She took charge of her own destiny, invested in her own self, took imperfect action and turned her mess into her message!

The results were amazing and it goes to show how far we can truly go when we give ourselves permission to dream big and just try.

In this episode Trey and I chat about:

  • Trey’s story and how being typecast and rejected was the start of her success story.
  • Why being authentic and speaking her truth is her super power.
  • Why she repeatedly took imperfect action and invested in herself to make things happen.
  • How she lives an intentional life and finds the courage to take action even when she’s terrified.
  • Her incredible grandmother becoming a rapper in her late 70s.
  • The lowest point in her life and how that was the start of her new book, Black Girl In Love (With Herself).

118: Get Unstuck and Allow What You Want to Finally Flow

If you ever feel like things around you are out of control while you feel heavy and stuck, unable to do anything about it, this episode is going to be a game changer for you!

Entrepreneurship is a rollercoaster, with so many ups and downs that are out of our control - but something we do have control over are the thoughts and feelings that we choose to make ourselves available for.

When we get intentional about the way we want to feel, everything changes!

And the best part is that you don’t have to wait to feel the way you want to, so in this episode I chat to you about:

  1. Why getting intentional about your feelings is a huge (and underrated) key to creating success.
  2. The realisation I had in 2011 that completely changed the way I lived my life (and the success I was experiencing).
  3. 4 simple but powerful steps to help you put this into practice, get unstuck and feel ready to allow abundance and success to flow into your life.

I’m also setting you a really fun challenge in this episode, so why not grab a friend (in real life or online!), have a watch party and take this challenge together?

Once you do, share your chosen feeling with us!

What are you going to focus on feeling over the next 30 days? Let us know that you watched this episode and share your chosen feeling with us on Instagram Stories!

117: How to Get off the Sidelines and Get in the Game

Before I started FEA, I used to sit there watching webinars as other entrepreneurs shared how they were building their successful businesses.

Part of me used to think it was absurd and ridiculous.

I watched from the sidelines as these people achieved amazing things and created incredible success. All the while I had massive impostor syndrome around my ideas and dreams.

I felt embarrassed to do anything about it. I kept playing small while watching all these other people play big.

A part of me felt so frustrated and broken because I wasn’t doing what I was supposed to be doing with my life.

And I know that so many of us feel this way… so many of us stand on the sidelines and watch others going for their dreams and making amazing things happen.

So in this episode I want to chat to you about;

  • The massive money block that used to hold me back from creating financial success.
  • The shift we all need to make to create amazing success, abundance and joy.
  • The steps I took to turn my dream of becoming a Hay House author into reality.
  • A visualisation exercise and powerful questions to help you get clear on how you need to uplevel to get to where you want to be.

Why not make a list of the people whose table you’d like to sit at and share it on Instagram! Make sure you tag me @iamcarriegreen and why not tag those people too!

116: How I Became a Millionaire - This Is My Story

The She Means Business show is all about helping you to have confidence in yourself, to have clarity around your vision and to help you realise that you can live an amazing life and build a successful business.

If you’re new to the Female Entrepreneur Association, this platform and community is all about showing you exactly how to do that - how to build a successful business and create the life of your dreams.

But mostly it’s about helping you to see the value that you have in yourself and that you bring to this world… The fact that you have a powerful message to share, whatever it may be.

However, even though I built the Female Entrepreneur Association, this wasn’t always the case for me.

For many years before that I struggled so much, feeling stuck and confused about what my purpose in life was.

So in this episode I want to share my whole story with you, all the way back to 2005 when my entrepreneurial journey started.

Kenz Soliman shares her story and tips on how she went from an idea to selling over 42,000 online courses!

Starting a successful online business doesn’t have to be complicated or difficult.

Kenz Soliman is the perfect example of this. Despite all the fears and self-doubt she was struggling with, a few years ago Kenz decided to create a simple, 30-minute course about hashtags and publish it on Udemy.

That was the first step to what is now her dream business and she has sold over 42,000 courses since then! Kenz is a member and a Team Leader inside the Members’ Club and her story is incredible.

She’s proof that you can be anywhere in the world with a laptop, an internet connection and belief in yourself, and if you just take action, you can create so much success! In this episode we chat about:

- How Kenz started her online business while caring for her son as a stay-at-home mum.

- The impostor syndrome and fear she had to face, especially when it came to charging what she was worth.

- Publishing her first course, getting 1,000 students in just 26 hours and how it grew from there.

- What she thinks about making mistakes, pivoting in your business and creating courses in a competitive market.

- Her best tip for marketing your online course.

114: Think Like a Millionaire to Become a Millionaire

What if thinking like a millionaire and making million-dollar decisions is actually the key to creating millions?

We're trained to think "realistically" our whole lives: to make sensible decisions, expect the worst and be financially conservative, even at the best of times. But what if attracting success is about more than just the nitty gritty of marketing and ROI?

It all starts with mindset, and in order to draw the millionaire lifestyle to yourself you have to start thinking, "What decision would millionaire-me make?". I know that changing my thinking around my own decision-making and biases was key to moving the needle for my business and finally reaching seven figures.

My amazing friend Michelle Rohr - founder of the Secret Owl Society - practices making million dollar decisions every day, and in this episode Michelle talks all about how she shifted her mindset to think like a millionaire and gives some really practical tips to help you to get there too.

I hope you love this episode, which we recorded out in beautiful Palm Springs during our 2019 Inspired Vacay event! Carrie xx

113: Reviewing 2020 And Getting Ready For An Amazing 2021

As we’re about to get into 2021, I got to thinking about everything that's happened this year - in the world, in my own life at home, and in my business.

This year proves that we never know what’s going to happen, we can’t foresee the future and we never know what kind of obstacles or challenges we’re going to have to face. But as Viktor Frankl says, what we do have control over is how we choose to respond.

Even in the most frustrating or challenging situations, we always have the freedom to step back and choose a response that’s going to help empower us and give us the best outcome possible.

And amidst all of the scary stuff, so much good has come about this year:

- We finished renovation on the office and started working in there with the team, which has been amazing.

- So many exciting things have happened in FEA; new opportunities have come up and we've welcomed some amazing new members to the team and the Members' Club.

- And of course, Miss Marlie arrived in this world! ♥

So whatever comes in 2021, I have to remind myself to keep an eye on what I do have in life, and how much I have to be grateful for.

And remember, "Everything you have in life can be taken from you except one thing, your freedom to choose how you will respond to the situation." Have an amazing New Year, I can't wait to see you in 2021 :)

108: Become Fearless for the New Year

There’s a quote by Viktor Fankl I love that says, “Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.”

It’s so empowering because even though we never know what’s going to happen or how our circumstances are going to change, the one thing we always have control over in life is how we react and respond.

So after the fear and uncertainty that we’ve all had to deal with in 2020, how can we make sure that we show up in a way that attracts more of what we want into our lives for 2021?

How can we stop letting fears hold us back and go for our dreams like never before? Even when it feels scary, uncertain and overwhelming?

In this episode I wanted to chat to you about why we all need to show up as our most fearless selves in 2021 and how we can attract more of what we want into our lives, despite the fear, uncertainty and overwhelm that may surround us.

How far would you go if you decided that 2021 is your time? Your year of taking fearless action?

If you’re ready to find out, I want to help you!

Join us for the free Fearless 2021 Challenge and let’s find out how far we can go when we no longer let fear stand in our way.

For 5 days in December we’re going to come together, hold each other’s hands and step into our most fearless selves together so click below and don’t miss this amazing opportunity!

We all have interesting stories to share and our personal perspectives and experiences can impact so many people.

Publicity is the perfect way to not only get yourself and your work out there, but also to get in front of people who might see themselves in you and feel inspired.

I have an incredible conversation to share with you in this episode that I had with the amazing Selena Soo, all about how anyone at any stage of their business can get publicity.

In this episode Selena and I chat about:

  • The biggest challenge that keeps people back from trying to get publicity.

106: How to Create and Sell a Product Online

So many of us waste so much time thinking about our dreams and never doing anything about them. Before I took the leap to start FEA, I used to come up with ideas and then overthink and over complicate them until I felt like I should just forget about it.

What happens really often when we have an idea to do something, is that we feel fired up and inspired at first. But the more we think about it, the more we question whether we can do it or if it will even work. In the end we just keep talking ourselves out of doing anything! If this sounds familiar, then this episode is for you! I want to chat to you about:

- The biggest thing that kills dreams and ideas (and it has nothing to do with failure!).

- The most important thing we all need to do to bring our ideas to life. - How to find answers and inspiration when you don’t know what to do.

- Ways of coming up with a great idea to create and sell online.

- How to get out of your own way so that you can create success and be of service. I hope this episode gets you fired up to start working on turning your ideas into something you can sell online - because I know how much success is in store for you if you do!

I’m also really excited that I’ve been working hard putting all the knowledge I have about creating offers and selling them online into an online program, and that program is launching really soon! If you’re ready to go all in and finally turn those ideas that have been swirling around in your head into income, success and value for other people, sign up to the waitlist and you’ll be the first to know when enrollment opens! 105: How To Write Copy That Sells

Your brand, business and offers come to life online through the words you use. Which is why as entrepreneurs, one thing we all have to learn how to do really well is copywriting.

If you’ve been wanting to set up an evergreen funnel or you’ve been optimising an existing one, you know what a big part copywriting plays in the success of that funnel.

In this episode of the She Means Business Show I’m joined by the amazing Prerna Malik, conversion copywriter and co-founder of The Content Bistro.

She has written copy for top entrepreneurs like Pat Flynn, Amy Porterfield and Vanessa Lau, and in this episode she’s sharing:

  • What an evergreen funnel is and why it’s so powerful for creating sales on autopilot.
  • Her business journey from mummy blog to copywriting and how she worked with amazing entrepreneurs like Pat Flynn and Amy Porterfield.
  • Her B.A.K.E. framework for writing copy that converts at every stage of your evergreen funnel.
  • The biggest mistakes that keep entrepreneurs stuck when it comes to finding success with evergreen.
  • Why you need to ask your audience for the sale multiple times and how to use different messaging.
  • The types of stories you should be sharing with your audience.
  • One thing to keep in mind to make writing copy so much easier and more authentic.

I hope you love this episode and that it gives you loads of ideas to uplevel your copywriting and your evergreen funnel!

If you’d love more support with writing copy for your evergreen funnel, Prerna has also created an amazing masterclass for our Members’ Club diving into all the steps of her copywriting framework!

104: How To Lead Your Business Like A CEO (with Racheal Cook)

As entrepreneurs and visionaries, one of the most important qualities we need to have is the ability to be flexible in our thinking, our actions and our plans as things change around us (which happens all the time!).

In this episode I’m joined by the amazing Racheal Cook, founder of CEO Collective, as we chat about her journey from starting her first business, to the success she has created by navigating change in her business like a CEO.

In this conversation Racheal and I chat about:

  • How she left the corporate job that burnt her out and leapt into entrepreneurship.
  • The first business she started and how it has evolved and changed from there thanks to the feedback she got from her audience.
  • How Racheal crafted her message and her offers around the needs of her dream customers.
  • How she focused on results and serving her audience rather than the ideas, strategies or advice from other people in the industry.
  • Why 90 day planning works so well and how to set goals you’ll actually achieve.
  • Why we all need to overcome perfection and just share the crappy first draft of our offer with the world.
  • How Racheal only works 25 hours per week in her business and how she redefined her role as CEO.

Racheal is also the creator of two of our most popular masterclasses inside the Members’ Club: Live Your Dream Life Now and Lead Your Business like A CEO.

102: Andrea McLean on Finding The Courage To Live Your Best Life

In this episode I’m joined by the amazing Andrea McLean. If you’re in the UK, you’ll have seen Andrea on TV as part of the Loose Women panel! She’s done some incredible things and written 3 incredible books.

No matter what our big goals are, whether that includes building a business at all, is the fact that we all just want to live our best lives and live happy lives. You can set goal after goal, but if you  don’t actually know what makes you happy, those goals become hollow and will never make you feel fulfilled.

In this chat, Andrea and I talk about:

  • Why we all need to do what it takes to live happy, good lives and thrive rather than settling for just existing. So many of us are stuck in a place of just existing and letting our life make decisions for us.
  • How we all have a pivot moment in our lives and how Andrea’s pivot moment involved jumping out of a helicopter and how that changed her life.
  • How Andrea experienced trauma in her personal life and buried them. There was a trigger. Felt like there was a tiger in the room all day long and a constant anxiety. Became physically ill - like many successful entrepreneurs, just kept going until burn out couldn’t run away from it all.
  • How she realised she no longer wanted some of the goals she had been chasing.
  • How to align yourself with what brings you joy so that you can experience joy now rather than in the future.

100: My Journey to Building FEA

Welcome to the 100th episode of the She Means Business Show! Woohoo!

When I pressed publish on that first episode back in January of 2017, I had so many ideas about what I wanted this podcast to be like.

I wanted to interview successful female entrepreneurs and inspire others to start their own wildly successful businesses with amazing tips, inspiring stories and meaningful conversations.

From that very first episode, the podcast has now grown to over 610,000 downloads, countless success stories and so much inspiration for so many women around the world who are walking in the direction of their dreams!

To mark this special 100th episode occasion, we’re doing something completely different!

Team FEA had a fun idea to put together a collection of clips and videos going all the way back to 2011, when I first started FEA - I haven’t seen these clips yet and what you’re going to watch (or listen to) is my first-time reaction!

I’m so excited to take a trip down memory lane with you and to show you that we all just start off with a dream and an idea… no flashy videography, no huge audiences, no clue how to make it happen! But with determination - it’s absolutely incredible what we can achieve!

Let’s dive into this together!

99: Make The Decision To Live An Epic Life

Every single one of us has the ability to live the most epic, abundant and successful life. So why is it that in reality, most people never go on to experience that? Far from living their best life, so many people find themselves so stuck. This is what we talked about and made breakthroughs on last week in the Package Your Brilliance challenge I hosted with the amazing Gina DeVee. The challenge was about how you can take your ideas, knowledge and passion and turn them into offers and packages that your ideal clients will love to buy, so that you can build a successful business doing something you love. At the beginning of the challenge, so many of the women who took part felt like they didn’t deserve to live an epic life - and I know that this limiting belief is so common. I was so inspired by the transformations we saw during the challenge that in this episode, I wanted to talk to you about: The reason why so many people don’t believe that they deserve to live an epic life. The excuses we all tell ourselves that keep us playing small and hold us back from creating success. How I kept myself stuck for years going round in circles and the realisation I had that changed everything. The new decisions I made and the challenge I created for myself that transformed my life and my business. A simple exercise you can do today to help you condition your mind to create success. Mantras to help you create more abundance and clarity in your life. If you loved this episode and you know you’re meant to create a successful business and live that epic life, I’m collaborating with the incredible Gina DeVee on a transformational program called Perfectly Packaged. Click here to dive into the details and join us there Over 10 weeks, Gina and her amazing team of coaches will help you take your ideas, knowledge and unique brilliance and turn them into a successful coaching or service-based business. If you’ve got a burning desire to create success, but you feel like you’ve been teetering on the edge of what could be possible; if you want to go on a transformational journey alongside like-minded women with the best mentoring, support and guidance….this program is for you! 98: How to Find Your Motivation Again!

94: How To Create Magnetic Content

In this amazing episode of the She Means Business Show, I’m joined by my good friend Brandon Lucero!

Brandon’s expertise when it comes to creating scroll-stopping content is incredible and this episode is a value-bomb of some of his best content tips and strategies.

If you’re so ready to create content that captures your audience’s attention and gets them to recognize you as the go-to expert in your industry - you’re going to love this episode!

And if you want even more help taking your content game to the next level, Brandon recently created an amazing masterclass for our Members’ Club called Creating Videos That Convert.

Creating content is so important because our businesses are about our ideas, messages and stories.

But so many entrepreneurs feel stuck on the content treadmill simply because they’re churning out content for the sake of it.

So in this episode Brandon and I chat about being strategic with our content, and creating stuff that will actually generate results for our businesses.

In this episode we talk about:

  • Why creating content is the best strategy to get people to know, like, trust...and most importantly, buy from you.
  • Why failing (and even sharing crappy content when you’re first starting out!) will actually help you to become a more successful entrepreneur.
  • How to avoid becoming the “unheard entrepreneur” that gets lost in the noise and the competition.
  • How to craft your message and create the hard-hitting, powerful type of content that will help you grow your audience and become an authority in your space.
  • How to find your own voice and be authentic with your content.

93: You Don't Need Qualifications to Build a Business

Over the past few years of working with thousands of female entrepreneurs I’ve noticed something that holds back so many people with amazing ideas: feeling like they need a specific qualification to start the business they dream of.

If this sounds familiar, I want you to know that I understand exactly how you feel.

Before I started FEA, I sat on the idea for 3 whole years because I kept thinking to myself, “Who am I to create this?!” and “Who will take me seriously if I have no business qualifications!”.

I wasted so much time hanging on to this false belief before I finally plucked up the courage to get out of my own way and take the leap anyway.

I don’t want that to happen to you! I want you to recognize that you don’t need a qualification to share your experiences, your skills, talents, passion and expertise.

So in this episode I want to share with you:

  • What I DID have instead of a qualification, that was so much more important to help me build my business.
  • How my friend Allie Casazza built a hugely successful 7-figure business with no qualifications (You can listen to that episode right here).
  • The impostor syndrome I felt while writing my first book (and how this fear came up again now that I’m thinking of writing a 2nd book!).
  • Why your experiences and skills are just as valid as any qualification and how to use them to create a valuable offer.
  • My best tips to help you build your confidence and go for your dreams if not having a qualification has been holding you back.

If you’ve been holding yourself back from going after your dreams because you don’t have a specific qualification, we’ve created a fun “You’ve Got This” certificate you can download by clicking right here! -

And if you’d like more support with starting your business, I’ve got just the thing to help you: a new course I’m creating called Create & Sell!

In it I’m going to teach you how to take your knowledge, expertise or passion and turn it into a valuable offer that you can sell! Join the waitlist now to be the first to hear more:

92: Building a Business IS HARD - But You CAN DO IT

Hard work is part of the entrepreneurial journey and it’s crazy to think that it isn’t. I was recently having a conversation with a friend about how so many people online seem to portray that building a business should be easy and that it doesn’t require too much hard work. Part of me gets really angry with this because it puts out a false message to those who are at the beginning of their entrepreneurial journey. It makes so many people feel that if they are struggling and working really hard, it means that something must be wrong. But it takes hard work, discipline and dedication to achieve amazing results in absolutely anything in life! I feel like it’s so important to talk about this because when I realised that it’s ok to struggle, that this was going to be hard work - I finally gave myself permission to stop thinking I wasn’t doing it right by working so hard. So in this episode I chat to you about: Why it might look easy and effortless for other people (but in fact no one has it all figured out!) The mindset breakthrough I had when I accepted that building a business was going to be really hard work (and how to have that same breakthrough) My favourite tips for overcoming the struggle and pushing through to create success when it all feels like too much. If we want to be good at anything in life, excel and create success - there’s always going to be a level of work, dedication and practice that has to go into it. What are your thoughts on this? I’d love to know! Share with us in the comments below your experience with overcoming struggle and comparing yourself to other business owners. And if you want more support with turning your dreams and ideas into a wildly successful business, make sure you become an FEA Insider! 91: Creating Success By Being Authentically You

“There’s no such thing as a unique message, only unique messengers”.

I heard the amazing Jadah Sellner say this quote in a masterclass she created for our Members’ Club a few months ago and it really stuck with me.

As business owners, entrepreneurs and people with lots of big ideas that we want to turn into successful businesses - we are in fact messengers.

Our stories, personalities and experiences make us who we truly are and shape our unique message.

But so often we feel like we need to emulate successful people we admire, or that we’re not “interesting enough” to be ourselves.

So we end up listening to everyone else’s ideas and putting messages out there that are generic, inauthentic and really don’t connect with our audiences.

And then our message doesn’t convert into sales, customers and raving fans. #sofrustrating

I know this is something so many entrepreneurs struggle with, so in this episode I share with you:

  • My own struggle with being myself when I first started FEA (and how I felt like I had to be serious and professional...which really didn’t fit my personality!).
  • How I discovered who I wanted to be to my audience and found my authentic voice.
  • Why it’s so important to make business decisions based on your own intuition (rather than always following everyone else’s ideas, advice and style).
  • My 3 best tips to help you get back to who you truly are if you’ve been feeling a little lost.

I hope this episode helps you to see that the more we can embrace who we truly are and the more we can infuse that into our business, the more success we can create.

90: Why We All Need To Create A Crappy First Draft

One of my favourite quotes has always been “Don’t compare your Chapter 1 to someone else’s Chapter 20”

And being a few chapters into my entrepreneurial journey now, I see so many people get stuck on their own Chapter 1 because they’re too scared to create a crappy first draft of their work.

When it comes to our business, so many of us expect perfection from the very beginning. But you wouldn’t expect to sit at a piano and play like Chopin from day 1!

So why do we put this kind of pressure on ourselves and hold ourselves back from becoming creators, even if it’s messy to begin with?

A few days ago I came across a box full of things I had created in the really early days when I first started FEA and it really took me back to that time.

I wanted to share what I found in these boxes with you because so many times, when we scroll through social media, listen to podcasts or watch videos online, we base our comparison on those carefully selected highlight reels.

But we rarely get to see the journey that got people there, or the struggles behind the scenes.

So in this episode I share with you:

  • The crappy first draft I ever created of my now bestselling book, She Means Business (I had no idea what I was doing and none of the content ever even made it into the actual book!).
  • The first inspirational quote wall prints I ever created for myself.
  • The one thing that keeps most entrepreneurs stuck in ideas mode (and how to get out of it!)
  • How to dive into the creation process (even if it’s really crappy to begin with!).
  • How to move on and improve from that crappy first draft.
  • A journal entry I wrote years ago, which eventually made it into my book.

I hope this episode serves to show you that everyone starts out from Chapter 1. No one has it all figured out from the get-go, so don’t pressure yourself into the pursuit of perfection, just become the creator!

89: The Decisions That Will Change Your Life

Back in 2011 I made a decision that completely changed my life.

Since making that decision and building the Female Entrepreneur Association, I’ve become obsessed with understanding what makes some people achieve huge success while others stay stuck when it comes to turning their ideas into a successful business.

I’ve come to realise that one of the biggest reasons they stay stuck is because they never truly make the decision to commit and go all in.

They teeter on the edge but never really take the leap to allow success to flow into their life.

The good news is that opening ourselves to the opportunities and abundance that are available to all of us is a choice we can all make! And it all starts with that decision.

So in this episode I want to share with you:

  • The decision I made back in 2011 that changed my life and business (and why this is the essential first step we all need to take to create success).
  • Why making that decision changes absolutely everything (and what you can expect to see when you go all in).
  • The one thing I always do to push through the resistance that comes up whenever I make a new decision.
  • How we can all become intentional creators of our lives (and attract the abundance we deserve).

After you dive into the episode, drop me a comment below and let me know: what’s one big decision you know you need to make right now to bring your vision to life?

I hope you absolutely love this episode and If you’d like to dive deeper into this topic, make sure you check out our other episodes of the She Means Business Show right here >>>

88: It's Time to Take Action

In this episode of the She Means Business Show, I am talking with the amazing Heather Chauvin.

Heather was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer when she was just 27 years old. This traumatic change in circumstances forced Heather to drastically reevaluate her situation. She started to listen to "the knowing" inside of her, which was telling her what she needed and what she needed to do in order to become the person she knew she was meant to be.

In her own words, the universe "finally had my attention".

In this episode, Heather tells us all about her experience, and how it forced her to shift from a state of learning to a state of doing; to stop simply consuming self-development content and to start acting on it.

I hope you love this episode, and if you want to learn more about Heather's story, head over to .

86: Unbecoming

In this episode I share with you:

  • The lies I kept telling myself that stopped me from pursuing my idea to create FEA for 3 whole years, and the realisation I had that then changed everything.
  • Why “unbecoming” is such an important first step to creating success.
  • The questions you really need to ask yourself to get clear on what’s holding you back from making your dreams happen and stopping abundance from flowing into your life.
  • The kind of empowering thoughts and mantras we all need to tell ourselves on a daily basis to elevate our lives.

85: Making Your First Million

There are a number of key things that I learned in my journey to making my first million, and I wanted to share those with you.

So many of us have this goal to reach a million $ in revenue and this is a dream that I shared a few years ago. I want to take you back to 2009... That year I created this challenge for myself called “Mission To Make A  Million in 365 days”. I was completely set on this idea that I was going to figure out how I was going to make a million in 365 days. I created a website and I was going to document it and share my journey.

I ended up completely falling off the bandwagon with this challenge. It was only when 2011 came around, and I recalibrated my goals to what I called my "Mission: Success Challenge" that I actually began to make progress towards that first million. And it took a fundamental mindset shift to get me there.

So in this episode, I'm going to tell you all about my journey, how I achieved that mindset shift and impart my best advice for how you can do the same.

I hope you love it :) xx

84: The Best Converting Lead Magnets to Grow Your Email List

When I started my business I knew that if I could build an audience of people who absolutely loved what I was doing and found value in it, then I could make it a success.

For the first 2 years, I threw myself into building my email list and growing a following on social media - I wanted to grow a community of raving fans who loved FEA and what it was all about.

I’ve since built an email list of over 150,000 subscribers, which has completely changed my business! But like everyone else, I started from zero!

I know how frustrating it can feel when you’re starting from square one, but I also know that this kind of success is possible for every single one of us!

So in this episode I want to take you behind the scenes and share with you the best lead magnets we’ve used over the past few years to grow this list and how exactly we marketed them to attract subscribers.

83: How To Create Your Business Success Plan

Every single business needs a business plan, but when we’re just getting started, it’s difficult to know how to go about planning everything that goes into creating success!

So I wanted to share with you how I created my own Business Success Plan, which helped me grow FEA to multiple 7-figures.

In this episode, I give you the exact steps you can follow so that you can plan out your own journey to success.

It’s a simple plan, but that’s exactly what makes it so incredibly effective!

In this episode I share with you:

  • What you need to do before you even sit down to create your Business Success Plan.
  • The first essential details you need to include in your Business Success Plan that will help you stay on track.
  • How to create a simple yet powerful marketing plan to attract as many potential customers as possible.
  • The easiest way to create a plan for generating revenue in your business and hitting your financial goals.
  • The most important element in the success of your business and how to become the person you need to be to take action on your plan.
  • How to anticipate and plan for the challenges that might come up and hold you back.

Your business plan doesn’t need to be complicated! In fact, the simpler your strategy for growth when you’re just starting out, the more quickly you’re likely to level up and make a breakthrough.

So keep it simple! If you go all in and take action on your plans success will follow!

82: How to Become Unstoppable

It’s one thing to have an idea or a dream of starting a business... but it’s something completely different to have the courage to turn that dream into a successful and profitable business that you love.

The truth is that we all experience resistance when we have an idea to try something new. And it’s not just something we struggle with at the beginning...

I’ve experienced periods of this struggle throughout my entire entrepreneurial journey - whenever I come up with a new idea or have a new dream to get to another level, that resistance creeps back in and gets in my way!

As entrepreneurs, we need to become masters of overcoming resistance, even when it feels like there’s no option but to stay stuck.

So in this episode, I wanted to share with you my 5 top tips for doing exactly this. These are the powerful strategies I always turn to whenever doubts, fears and worries flood my brain and cloud my willingness to keep pushing through.

I’m sharing with you:

  • Why it took me 3 years from coming up with the idea for the Female Entrepreneur Association to actually launching it.
  • The most common resistance we all face when it comes to putting ourselves and our ideas out there and the #1 thing we need to do to overcome this.
  • The self-coaching exercise I use every time resistance comes up that helps me uncover the truth behind what’s really going on in my head.
  • How to rewire your brain and flood yourself with positivity and motivation.
  • How to tap into the foresight of your future self to guide the decisions you make today.
  • How to stop letting everyday distractions hold you back.
  • How to manifest more of what you want into your life

If you’re dreaming of taking your life or your business to the next level right now, but you’re feeling weighed down by resistance -  I know that these powerful strategies will help you break through to the other side.

81: How To Build A Successful Business By Growing A Tribe Of Super Fans

Before 2015, Allie Casazza was an overwhelmed mum of 4, battling to get through every day, counting the minutes till bedtime and dreading having to start all over again the next morning.

The advice she was getting that “you’ll just get through it” just wasn’t t the way Allie wanted to show up in her life and her motherhood.

Allie says that one day she stood in her driveway in the mountains of Arkansas, hating her life and struggling to make ends meet and just chose to step into a different energy.

She decided what was going to happen in her life and believed with certainty that success was hers for the taking.

Since then Allie has built a multiple 7-figure business and she’s even had a $70,000 day selling a $99 product!

Allie is the host of The Purpose Show podcast, which has over 6 million downloads and also runs a Facebook Group of over 50,000 highly engaged women!

The main thing that Allie says has helped her achieve huge success in her business has been her ability to grow an engaged community of super fans who absolutely love what she does.

So in this episode, Allie shares her 5-Part Party Cocktail, which is her fun framework for building a tribe of ideal customers.

And definitely stay till the end, as we chat about the power of visualisation, which also played a huge part in Allie’s transformation and success!

80: No One Starts at Perfection

With everything that’s going on in the world right now, creating a membership site for your audience means that you can grow a stable and successful business that generates recurring revenue.

But regardless whether it’s a membership site, a course or an e-commerce website, the majority of people never even get their idea off the ground.

So many of us are guilty of this: we get into our own heads and we get hung up about having tons of content and everything looking “perfect” before we even try to share our idea with the world.

It’s the difference between those who stay stuck and those who go on to create successful businesses: success comes from finding the courage to launch way before you have it all figured out!

This happens because we compare our chapter one to someone else’s chapter 20, so in this episode I wanted to give you a look at my own chapter one.

I want to take you back in time and show you how much I really didn’t have things figured out when I first launched the Members’ Club and how far it was from perfection!

I hope this episode shows you that if you have an idea or a desire to create success, then you have to find the courage to just go for it, before you even feel ready to take the leap!

79: Launching Successfully To A Small Audience: How Michelle Made $16K In 2 Weeks

One of the biggest misconceptions about having a successful launch is that you need a huge audience of thousands of email subscribers and social media followers.

But this couldn’t be further from the truth!

Making 5 or even 6 figures in your next launch depends a lot more on the quality and engagement of your audience than it does on the number of followers you have.

My amazing friend Michelle is proof of this, having scaled her business to six figures over the past few years with a small audience and no paid ads.

Her story shows what’s possible for all of us when we just find the courage to stop hiding and put ourselves out there, even when we only have a small audience.

In this episode, Michelle Rohr, who is the founder of the Secret Owl Society, shares behind the scenes of her most recent launch.

Along with her business partner Aimee, Michelle recently launched her newest product to an email list of just 3,800 subscribers and an Instagram following of 2,000 followers.

Selling a simple $50 digital template kit with a $7 order bump, they generated $16,000 in revenue within a few weeks and the orders just keep coming in!

77: Why Every Business Should Generate Recurring Revenue

Over the past couple of years I’ve been facing a serious challenge to grow my business. From the outside, you couldn’t really tell what was going on, but behind it all, I’ve been struggling on a personal level.

So in this video I wanted to give you an honest glimpse into the reality that often hides behind the “picture perfect” highlight reels we see on social media.

It has been a messy and crazy journey, but throughout it all, even when I was feeling the most stuck and confused, my business continued to grow and thrive.

And the reason that my business has continued to generate over six figures per month through this really difficult time is down to one thing: recurring revenue.

Recurring revenue is the most amazing thing you could create for your business!

So in this episode, I wanted to give you some fun ideas to get your creativity flowing and help you see all the possibilities for adding a recurring revenue stream to your business.

In the world we’re living in today, business stability is such an important thing.

And along with that, we’re all craving human connection online more than ever, so for these two reasons, there’s never been a better time to dive into creating a membership for your business!

In the video I share:

> Some amazingly inspirational success stories that my friend and mentor Stu McLaren shared with me from students of his incredible membership course: TRIBE.

> The tops 3 types of membership sites you should consider if you decide to create one for your business

> 5 types of content you can deliver to your members, how to make it really simple to deliver monthly content and also how to take content creation completely off your shoulders.

Over the next few weeks I’ll be hosting a free pop-up Facebook Group called Membership Mentoring with Carrie and Stu, with my good friend and mentor Stu McLaren.

Stu is the top industry expert when it comes to building membership sites and I couldn’t have grown the Members’ Club as much as I have without his incredible insight.

Stu will be joining me for some amazing live sessions so that we can answer your questions and help you understand how to build a membership site.

Stu also has an amazing free video series coming up, where he’ll dive deeper into membership strategies and how to build your own membership site.

Recurring revenue has honestly been a blessing for my business and has helped me build so much confidence, stability and success.

I know for sure that if I can build something like this, you can too! So make sure you watch the video and then join Stu and I inside the Facebook Group!

76: 5 Ideas For Making Money From Home

In these strange times when so much of the world’s population is in lockdown at home, many of us are facing uncertainty and fear that we weren’t facing just a couple of months ago.

For a lot of us, that includes uncertainty around our jobs, business and income.

But this lockdown has also created opportunities. More than ever before, people are at home, shopping online, browsing in search of online solutions, services and learning.

75: How to Keep Going Through the Struggles and Create Success

Recently I got to do something I’ve been wanting to do for a really long time… interview my dad!

He’s been my biggest business inspiration and the person who’s had the most impact on helping me to create the success I have.

I turn to him for business advice all the time, especially when I’m facing challenges or uncertainty. So I asked him if he’d come and share his words of wisdom with you… and it’s turned out to be the MOST inspiring interview I’ve ever done!

I’ve never known anyone to work as hard as my dad and I’ve never known anyone to have as much grit and determination as him. He has the ability to keep going, even when things seem impossible and he’s constantly learning new things to help him create success – from cosmic ordering, to daily meditation and his favourite mindset books – we talk about so much.

I hope this leaves you feeling so fired up and uplifted!

Leave me a comment and let me know what your biggest takeaway is.

74: How to Stay Positive During Really Uncertain Times

We’re facing some crazy things in the world right now that are leading to a lot of uncertainty, fear and challenges. So I really wanted to do something for this amazing community to help us all during this time.

I had a good think about what I do when I’m struggling with uncertainty, challenges and fear and I realised that I turn to some incredible people to help me through.

So I reached out to these people and asked if they would be up for doing a Facebook live with me to share their amazing wisdom with you.

This is the first of 5 Facebook Lives and it’s with my husband, Kelin.

He’s the first person I turn to when I’m feeling uncertain or full of fear, so I thought it would be fun to chat with him and share how we stay positive together.

This Facebook Live was inside our Members’ Club private Facebook group, but I really wanted to share it with you too.

In it we talked about:

  • Specific things we do together to stay positive
  • How we get intentional about creating a happy and positive vibe at home
  • I share questions from a workbook I made for us to fill out when we got married to help us build a solid relationship
  • And how we’re coping working from home with Kasey, our one-year-old!

(We had to ply Kasey with treats and Peppa Pig to keep in quiet as we went live haha. Obviously, he still wanted to be heard and at the end he makes a very cute appearance!)

I don’t normally do such personal videos and interviews, but given the nature of everything going on right now, we’re all feeling the impacts of it on a deeply personal level. There’s so much emotion and it’s such a testing time that I wanted to get personal about how I’m dealing with it.

Enjoy and stay safe.

With love,

Carrie xx

72: Develop A Growth Mindset In 5 Simple But Powerful Steps

We all go through periods where we feel completely stuck in a rut and it can feel so frustrating when you just can’t seem to move forward.

If you’ve been feeling frustrated because you just can’t seem to be the person you need to be to create the business and life that you dream of, then this guide is going to help you turn that around in a few simple but powerful steps.

The tips I’m sharing in this post have helped me time and time again throughout the past few years, giving me the fuel I need to start moving again whenever I’ve felt stuck, lost or frustrated.

Finding powerful ways to shift myself into a growth mindset has been one of the most important things I’ve ever done that has completely transformed my life.

From 2008 all the way through to 2011 I was stuck in a massive rut, feeling completely lost as to where I wanted my life to go.

I had this feeling deep down inside that I wasn’t living the life I was meant to be living. I felt like I was playing small, like there was so much more meant for me.

I just wasn’t living up to my potential and if you’ve ever felt like that, you know how annoying it can be.

If you want help, guidance and support to achieve a big goal this March, make sure you join our free Mission For March challenge, where we’ll be working together to take the action we need to take to make a big goal happen! Click below to sign up and get your free workbook!

I knew that things needed to change and in 2011, I got to a point where I was completely fed up with my own excuses and I finally decided to do something about it.

I realised that I was the problem and that my own mindset was the only reason that I was feeling so stuck. I knew I was also the only person that could get myself out of it.

I had to change who I was being, the thoughts I was thinking, the way I was showing up every day and the habits I was practicing.

So I did some simple things that had a really profound impact and since then, I’ve been repeating these same steps and they’ve worked for me every time, so I know they can do the same for you.

70: Growing A Side-Hustle Into A Global Business with Lorraine Dallmeier - Success Stories

As soon as she returned to work after having a baby, Lorraine soon realised that she was being held firmly back by the glass ceiling.

She had been dabbling with creating a side-income for herself, so when the opportunity came up to take over the online course company she had been enrolled in, Lorraine took the plunge. She had seen it simply as a side-hustle, but it turned into so much more than that.

A few years and a lot of hard work later, Lorraine has grown her business, Formula Botanica, into a global success, with almost 9,000 students across 161 countries.

Formula Botanica is an online training school for people who want to learn how to make their own organic skincare or haircare and how to then turn those products into a viable and profitable indie beauty brand.

In this podcast, Lorraine and I discuss:

  • How being held back at work after having a baby pushed her to start her own business.
  • Her journey from being a student in her own online education business to buying and taking over the company.
  • All the changes, updates and processes she had to put in place to revive and grow the business, the steps she took and the things she focused on.
  • The successful launch that helped her realise she could quit her job and work on the business full-time.
  • How she used customer feedback to change and improve the business.
  • How she juggled growing the business and raising two children and the lifestyle she has managed to create for her family.
  • The struggles she faced with getting herself and her business out there and what she did to overcome her fear of being visible.
  • Winning The Digital Achiever of the Year Award from Google among beauty industry giants.
  • How she got started with video and how her skills have improved over time.
  • The kind of success her students have achieved.
  • All the exciting plans she has ahead of her this year.

Lorraine’s top tips for success are:

  • Don’t be scared of being visible - just do it and keep doing it until you feel comfortable with it. It will get easier the more you try!
  • Be really consistent in whatever you do. Be realistic in what you commit to doing and then keep showing up!
  • Find what drives you and gives you your passion as that’s what will get you through the hard times.

67: Shifting Your Mindset to Achieve Your Business Goals

One of the biggest reasons that many entrepreneurs struggle to build the business they want is because they’re not in the right mindset to create success. It’s that simple and for such a long time I was that person and it was so frustrating. One day I decided that I really needed to have a mindset shift and when I did this, it literally changed my entire life.

So in this post, we’ll be going through four simple steps to help you have that mindset shift that will help you build a wildly successful business.

These strategies have really helped me shift my mindset and have been crucial in helping me achieve some of the biggest goals I had on my vision board.

Step 1: Create awareness around where you’re at right now.

Any sort of change starts with awareness and clarity, so this is all about getting clear about where you’re at and what your mindset is like right now. There’s a powerful intuitive journaling exercise that I love to do that really helps me create awareness around what’s going on in my life and how i’m feeling right now.

Take some time somewhere quiet with a pen and a piece of paper and give yourself permission to tune in with yourself and write about what you’re feeling and what’s going on internally. I love the question, “How am I feeling right now and what’s my mindset like?” Just start writing without filtering or thinking too much. Allow the words to flow out on paper and don’t really think as you go and create awareness around what you’re currently thinking: the good, the bad and the ugly. This is all about being really honest with yourself.

Step 2: Take a look at what shifts you need to make.

As part of the intuitive journaling exercise, write down what your biggest struggle is right now, what your biggest mindset challenge is right. For example, maybe you’ve realised that you’ve got this deep-seated feeling that you’re not good enough. Maybe you’re stuck because you feel embarrassed to put your idea out there and you’re scared of being judged. Whatever is bubbling to the surface for you in terms of a mindset block, a doubt, worry or fear, focus on that and ask yourself “Why do I feel like this?” and write that down. Keep asking yourself to peel back the layers and to get to the root of the problem and what’s really going on. You need to figure out why you’re feeling the way you are so that you can do something about it.

So often we think our feelings are the problem, but when you do an exercise like this, it often brings up issues you didn’t even realise were affecting you that are often the real problem. It could be something that happened 3 years ago that you didn’t even realise is having a huge impact on how you’re actually feeling and the mindset you’re keeping today. Doing this exercise helps you uncover what is really going on. Kee asking “but why” to dig deeper and deeper so that you can uncover why you’re feeling the way you’re feeling or why you have a certain fear, doubt, worry or challenge that you’re facing at the moment.

Step #3: Discover the shifts you need to make.

66: Making A Living By Making An Impact with Caroline Vickery-Clark - Success Stories

Caroline’s earliest memories are of her mum and dad sitting around the table talking business, so already from a young age, she knew she wanted to pursue business and that this was the right path for her.

After quitting a university course that just wasn’t right for her, Caroline threw herself into her mum’s card and gift shop, where she managed the business and worked with other local entrepreneurs to introduce initiatives in her town to help high street businesses.

From working in the corporate world to growing two brick-and-mortar businesses, Caroline joined the Members’ Club and couldn’t get rid of this niggling feeling that she wanted to start an online business that would help decipher marketing for other small business owners.

This led her to set up Golden Treasure Business Consultancy, which helps entrepreneurs in early stages understand what marketing is, how to stand out and get their voice heard.

In this podcast, Caroline and I discuss:

  • Her journey from following her parent’s lead into business and setting up multiple successful businesses to focusing on what she does best and making an impact.
  • How a local council initiative put her in the lead and helped her discover her passion for helping small business owners.
  • How an unexpected, last-minute talk she had to give landed her the first client for her consultancy business.
  • The biggest challenges she has faced and the scariest parts of becoming the face of her new marketing brand and sharing her story.
  • How she’s managing to juggle motherhood alongside running two businesses and how she divides work and family time.
  • Her goals for growing the business and taking it to the next level and the importance she’s putting on the impact aspect.
  • How she’s using the feedback she’s gathering from her audience and from Facebook Groups such as the Members’ Club to build her online course module after module.
  • All about learning to be flexible, improving and pivoting as you go along and not letting challenges defeat you.

Caroline’s top tip for success is:

  • Don’t try and be everywhere, on every platform, and don’t forget the offline world. We all spend so much time online that we often forget what else is out there and the offline marketing strategies we can put to good use.

65: The Power Of The Small Email List

Tip #1: Make it easy on yourself

I remember when someone told me at the very beginning of my business journey that I needed to build an email list. I had no idea what that even meant or where to start!

It felt so overwhelming and made me feel paralyzed because it seemed like there was so much to do.

In the end, I just made it easy for myself and started off with a really simple form on my website to attract subscribers.

I didn’t even have an email service provider at this point! I was just copying and pasting addresses into my own personal email and then emailing people whenever I thought I needed to.

After a while I discovered Mailchimp and from there I began to build an email list using a pop-up on my website that simply said “Sign up to receive a weekly dose of inspiration from me”. That was it!

The number one most important step you can take is to get started, so don’t let anything hold you back!

Just get started in the simplest way possible and then build and improve from there.

Tip #2: Get clear on what you’re going to be emailing to your list

Once you’re all set up to attract subscribers, the next step is to get clear on exactly what you’ll be emailing them on a weekly basis.

What types of emails will you send to your list to nurture those relationships and provide value?

Create a simple plan of what you could send out every week and remember that it doesn’t have to be some complicated piece of content, like a video, podcast or a really long blog.

You could simply send out a tip, an inspirational quote, a piece of advice or a story you can share that somehow provides value.

Once again, keeping things simple plays a huge part in rapidly creating success and then building on that.

Make this doable or you likely won’t do it consistently.

Tip #3: Tell people about your email list!

People actually need to know about your email list in order to want to join it!

Start out with a goal of getting 100 people on your list, even if this includes all of your family, friends and people who are not likely to be your customers.

Knowing that people are actually receiving and reading your emails, maybe even replying, is a hugely powerful mindset shift and builds momentum.

Remember to just take it step by step

We all have to start out with a goal of getting our first 10 subscribers and then our first 100 and then 200 after that and so on.

So many of us never start because we’re on step one and we get frustrated that we’re not on step ten.

Make it as simple as possible for yourself, stay consistent, be patient and go through each step as it comes along and before you know it, you will have built a list of thousands of subscribers, potential customers and one of the most powerful and profitable assets for your business.

If you want more help building your email list from zero or you have an existing list and you’d love to skyrocket your momentum and growth, then you definitely need to check out Amy Porterfield’s amazing masterclass for the Members’ Club!

  • Once you have your strategy in place, make sure that you’re regularly checking in on the results so that you can keep doing what’s working and eliminating what isn’t.
  • Make sure you’re clear on which of your revenue streams are actually bringing in the most revenue.

63: Building a Membership to 5,000+ Super Fans!

Try our Start and Grow Membership Course and build an incredibly successful membership site of your own!

You’ve seen me and so many other experts out there going on and on about the power of membership sites, and that’s because developing a membership program really is transformational for your business and brand.

If you’ve been growing your audience for a while, maybe selling products or services to them, and you’re wondering whether a membership community is what your audience needs, then this episode will give you a whole new perspective on the power of building a membership program.

So in this post, I want to share with you the 2  things that should sway your decision if you’ve been unsure if you should build a membership site for your audience.

Lesson 1: Recurring revenue means peace of mind and financial freedom!

So many entrepreneurs take the leap from earning a steady income through a 9-5 job into the “uncertain income” that comes with building your own business.

When you’re jumping from month to month, constantly worrying about generating enough leads, converting customers and making that next $1, it feels like an exhausting, emotional rollercoaster.

Just think about how many of the things we buy into nowadays come in the form of monthly subscriptions.

From tv, music and data storage to food, vitamins and beauty products. Companies are falling over themselves to switch over to a recurring revenue model because it brings certainty, stability and scalability.

If you’d love to have a really clear idea of how much revenue your business will generate this month, next month and the month after that, building a recurring revenue model (such as a membership site) is absolutely the way to go!

Just transformational would it be if you had…

  • 100 members paying you $37 per month and generating $3,700 in recurring revenue?
  • 350 members paying you $37 per month and generating $12,950  in recurring revenue?
  • 5,000 members paying you $37 per month and generating $185,000 per month in recurring revenue?

Lesson 2: Building a membership means building a community of super fans

The essential foundation to build and grow absolutely any type of successful business is to build an audience that loves what your business is all about.

We all know the essentials of building an audience… growing an email list, finding followers on social media, driving traffic to the website, networking and collaborating.

But what’s even more powerful is building a community of SUPER FANS.

Super fans are on a completely different level to subscribers on your email list or your followers on social media. These are the people that are most likely to be the first to take you up on your offers when you release new products, the first to leave you a review, the people who will go and tell everyone they know about what you’re doing.

They will support you and cheer you on every step of the way. Super fans know for sure that you can help them and believe in what you’re about.

A membership is a space for you to cultivate and nurture your super fans. It is a place where people can truly belong to your community and get to connect with you (and your other super fans) on a much deeper level.

Joining was, in her words, “game changing”. She says surrounding herself with the right type of people was an essential part of her success.

61: How to Create a Compelling Brand For Your Business

Creating a compelling brand is so important for developing the story of your business and, ultimately, winning customers. But there's more to it than simply choosing your fonts, colour palette and art style.

Here is my breakdown of the questions you need to ask yourself and the actions you need to take in order to develop a successful, compelling and incredible business brand:

1 - The brand is the personality, the heart and soul, the feeling of what a company is.

2 - If you position your brand’s values clearly, it creates a platform for customers to identify with.

3 - Ask yourself what values you actually want to infuse into the essence of your business.

4 - Be clear with the voice of your brand; this will help customers to emote and identify with it.

5 - Ask who your audience actually are. Build a brand according to their perspective.

6 - Create avatars of your ideal customers. Who are they? How do they live? What are they like?

7 - Who is this person in relation to who your company are? How can you help to serve them?.

8 - There is no such thing as a unique message, only unique messengers.

9 - Get involved with designing; as the founder, it is your vision.

10 - If your strength is not in creative thinking, outsource the design tasks to an amazing creative.

11 - Don’t compare your Chapter One to someone else’s Chapter Twenty!

12 - Use tools like Canva to do a lot of the heavy lifting for you when designing.

13 - Put together a brand mood-board so your design style is consistent and in line with your voice.

I hope these tips really help you to create the brand of your dreams. I know that for me, building a brand has been one of the most exciting and fun aspects of developing the Female Entrepreneur Association, and I really hope you get as much joy from the process as I did!  Carrie  xx

60: Reconnecting With Your Inner Wise Woman with Haulwen Nicholas - Success Stories

There’s no denying the powerful truth that we all have an intuitive, creative and incredibly capable “wise woman” within us. But in today’s fast-paced world, it’s so easy to lose touch with our true inner self and purpose.

In this episode of the She Means Business podcast I chat to the amazing Haulwen Nicholas, as she takes me through her journey of discovery and how she built and now runs two different businesses.

Haulwen is the founder of the Magical Mojo Coach, where she helps women to reconnect with their inner wise woman and find the magic and wonder in the world. Her second business is called The Packaging Oracle, where she helps big businesses and entrepreneurs make decisions about their packaging.

Haulwen is a member of our Members’ Club and she says that when she first joined, she found the inspiration she needed to launch her own business after burning out in the corporate world.

Her favourite part of being a member has been the community, where she’s made some great friends who she meets regularly. Haulwen says the Members’ Club has been an essential tool for her as being an entrepreneur can be such a lonely experience. The Members’ Club is that safe space where she can talk about her business with others who are on the same journey.

In this podcast, Haulwen and I discuss:

  • Her career in the packaging industry after studying Environmental Biology at University and how she saw this path as the perfect opportunity to help shape the industry to be more environmentally-friendly.
  • How burnout, dealing with several medical conditions, chronic pain and a highly stressful job left her desperate to escape her lifestyle.
  • How managing teams throughout her career helped her discover her love for coaching and training.
  • How training to become a coach also ended up becoming a journey of self-discovery for her.
  • The journey to launching her business and how she manages the struggle of running two businesses at the same time.
  • Why she made self-care her priority and how it helped her business blossom.
  • How reconnecting with her true self and her purpose helped her find her energy, good health and spirit again.
  • Why reconnecting with your inner wise woman is so essential to long-term wellbeing and success.

Haulwen’s top tips for success are:

  • Stay curious and recognise that the majority of things that make us who we are are free. We don’t need material possessions, it’s just about reconnecting with the world and people around us and loving ourselves more, which so many of us don’t do. When we start reconnecting with that inner voice, we suddenly start to realise what we truly love about our lives and the people around us.
  • Make self-care your number one priority! You need to make sure you’re energised to be your best for yourself, your family and to help your business thrive!

  • How she moved to the US and got an office job in Las Vegas working in corporate marketing but soon realised that it wasn’t as fun as she anticipated it to be and how she realised she wasn’t suited for the corporate world and she felt stifled.
  • How Tim Ferriss’ book, The 4 Hour Work Week, opened her eyes to this different way of looking at work + discovered FEA in 2017 and decided to join FEA instead of continuing to focus on her corporate career.
  • First thing she did: she looked into her company’s policy on starting a “side hustle”, thought about the lifestyle she wanted, wanted flexibility, fit the lifestyle. Honed in on her marketing skill and how badly she wanted to leave. Identified why she really wanted to quit and what she needed to do to make it happen.
  • Biggest ways FEA has helped her: seeing the community and how other women did it inspired her. The monthly calls and visualisation.
  • How she managed her schedule building a business around her busy 9-5 and family commitments.
  • How she visualised the feeling she would feel and the music she would play driving away from her office for the last time.
  • How she feels looking back and having come so far and overcoming the challenges of juggling both her job and her business.
  • How she started finding most of her clients from the FEA Members’ Club.

Caz’s top tips for success are:

  • You can learn any strategy, but mindset is the thing that will make or break you!
  • Go out and make sure that your business is what your audience wants and don’t wait until you have a business to start building your audience. You can start a Facebook page today! If you’re networking in Facebook Groups and putting yourself out there, people will look for you online! Share what you’re doing, build your audience and don’t give up!

58: Learning to Celebrate Your Victories

Do you ever wish that as an entrepreneur, you would get to go up on a podium, get cheered and applauded and given a medal every time you had a win in your business?

Because it’s never an easy journey and every single challenge you overcome and every single win is worth acknowledging and celebrating!

In this episode of the She Means Business podcast I’m joined by the amazing Laura Robinson, founder of Worditude, who went from corporate job to building a successful copywriting business.

Laura shares with me all about her journey, restructuring her family life to make room for her business, fulfilling her dream of taking her kids to Disneyworld and celebrating all the little “Gold Medal moments” along the way!

When she first went self-employed, she started out doing by-the-hour freelance work for agencies that were all run by men and was so lonely she joined FEA.

In this podcast, Laura and I chat about:

  • Her journey from corporate jobs, into freelancing agencies and finally managing her own successful business and fulfilling her goal of taking her kids to Disneyworld.
  • The gap in the market she identified in the copywriting industry and how she discovered a way to serve people in a more effective (and profitable) way that also made her happier.
  • How she first got started and discovered that she had to charge more.
  • Her struggle with feeling like other people seemed to be achieving success so much more quickly and easily than her.
  • All the friends she made through the Members’ Club and the part they have played in her life and business.
  • How she restructured her family life to make room for her business and what her day looks like now.
  • Her dreams and goals and how she balances between dreaming big for the future and being grateful for what she has created up to now.
  • Her love for sport and how she celebrates and acknowledges her little wins through “Gold Medal Moments”.

Laura’s top tips for success are:

Don’t panic if you feel like everything around you is going the wrong way, it’s not a sign that you’re failing. A lot of times if you’re tired or overwhelmed, you’re looking at things from the wrong perspective and you just need to take a break or talk to someone about it who understands (like your online business friends!). Don’t read too much into it when you feel like “I can’t do this anymore”. Give yourself a break and things will seem a lot better when you come back to them with fresh eyes.

57: Carrie's Tips - Creating a Goal Folder

When I was a kid growing up, my dad used to tell me, “Decide what you want and write it down”, and so I created a Goal Folder!

My Goal Folder became a storage space for all of my biggest dreams as a teenager. I would write down the things that I really wanted at that time, without limiting myself by what was “realistic” or “sensible”, and then use cuttings and illustrations to create a physical scrapbook of what I wanted my life to look (and smell) like.

I just see this as a bit of fun, but it’s a bit of fun that’s actually very powerful. My goals have changed a bit since creating this first goal folder, but the point is that it’s all about intention-setting. You need to get really aligned with your personal and business goals; articulate them; get them out of your head and into the physical world and then use them as your North Star, so that you have something tangible to work towards.

This is something that I would highly recommend doing to anyone with big dreams. This is how I would go about it:

 - Have a dreaming day and connect with what you want to make happen in your life.

 - Get proactive.  Write down the things that you want.

 - Create an energy of success around your goal folder.

 - Keep coming back to your goal folder to remind yourself of the things you want to achieve.

Through both these horrific experiences, Christine’s unbelievable positivity, mindset, strength and desire to share her stories and knowledge with the world has helped her get through this unimaginable hardship and come out having built a meaningful and wildly successful business!

You’ll love her story of how she worked her way through every single masterclass in the Members’ Club while sitting at her daughter’s bedside in hospital and how her business was the beacon of positivity she needed to make it through.

  • Her journey from starting out slow to creating so much success after she realised what was possible and stopped looking at it as a side-income and hobby.
  • The biggest things she did when she started out that helped her make so much progress, including not being afraid of hearing the word “no” and getting rejected.
  • Her ethical and collaborative approach to business and how this helped set her apart in her industry.
  • The tragic diagnosis her daughter received a few years ago and how Christine maintained a six-figure income throughout the entire ordeal, while witnessing other parents in the same situation having to quit their job and dealing with financial disaster.
  • How this made her realise that she wanted to share her expertise and message on a much bigger scale, make a difference to more people and establish her second business to train others.
  • How she turned that horrible time into a positive and made the most of her time spent in the hospital, by working her way through every single masterclass in the Members’ Club while sitting at her daughter’s bedside. She says focusing on building a second meaningful business became her positive outlet among the distress she was facing.
  • The opportunity to be noticed that she identified on Pinterest and how she grew her account and has made it her most valuable traffic source after working through the Become A Pinterest All-Star Masterclass.
  • The importance of working on her mindset to grow her businesses, especially while her daughter Sophie was unwell, including the little things she did to stay positive and strong.
  • Her more recent health scare and how all her mindset practices helped her get through another ordeal all over again.

55: Making Your Business Work Through The Ups And Downs with Louise Luton - Success Stories

Sometimes even a job you once loved is no longer the right fit. This is exactly what happened to Louise Luton, who, after 20 years of teaching art and drama, started struggling with the pressure she was facing and having to deal with crippling anxiety.

She decided she had to make a change, and despite the common misconception that you can’t make money as an artist, Louise was an artist at heart and decided she would figure out how to make it work, so she set out to build her business, Louise Luton Art.

Louise started seeing a return and her business going from strength to strength within six months. She later decided she needed to uplevel her business again and that’s when she read She Means Business and eventually joined the Members’ Club.

Saldy, the tragic loss of her father stopped her in her tracks and she went through a period where she felt she couldn’t go on growing the business. This is where Louise says the community and support she received from the members of the Members’ Club was indispensable, helping her realise that she was strong enough to keep going, step by step, growing the business and honouring her father through her art.

In this podcast, Louise and I chat about:

  • Her beautiful art and how she has created multiple sources of revenue through her website, art galleries and by visiting art fairs.
  • How being a successful artist means you also have to manage the business aspect. Louise shares how she managed to make it work when she first started and the important part that the Members’ Club has played in keeping her going and growing.
  • The crisis of confidence and the mindset struggles she faced when she first started, being scared to approach galleries and charging too much for her art.
  • The three essential aspects of her business and how she manages each one.
  • The struggle she faced to continue working on her business after the loss of her father and how the support of other members from inside the Members’ Club helped her make it through.
  • How she adapted the traditional business plan for her own needs and how she uses the Members’ Club monthly Goal Setting and Planning workshops to review and plan ahead.
  • A recent business award she won, which has continued to increase her confidence and encourage her to grow the business further.
  • Her exciting plans for the year ahead, including an inspirational trip to Kenya and being featured in galleries in major cities in the UK and US.

Louise’s top tips for success are:

  • No matter what you’re facing, remember the importance of working on your business “little and often” - accept that you can’t do everything today, but you can do SOMETHING today so just keep chipping away at your idea until you get there
  • Once your business is up and running, make sure you’re reviewing your results from month to month. Identify the patterns in your own business and use them to make better decisions and create more success.
  • When you’re just starting out, focus on one social media platform rather than trying to be on multiple platforms all at once.
  • If you have an idea you love, the timing will never be right so you just have to take the plunge and give it a try now!
  • Join a community that can give you the support you need now - you don’t have to wait until you’re on top, join when you really need the help!

53: The Power Of Relentless Perseverance with Kc Rossi - Success Stories

If you’ve gone from business idea to business idea and still struggling to make it work, then this podcast episode will give you all the motivation you need to hang in there and keep persevering. In it I chat with Kc Rossi, one of our amazing FEA members, who worked her way through an incredible nine different business ideas in four years, only for the 10th idea to finally take off!

Kc is a business coach who helps female entrepreneurs (mostly in the Holistic field) create online courses so they can have a bigger impact and make more income, as well as building a business around their life so they can avoid burning out.

She started her entrepreneurial journey at just 19 years old, when, along with her business partner, she tried everything from jewellery to house painting. After almost giving up, she decided to give it one final go, starting a handmade confections company, which took off and grew beyond her wildest dreams to hit seven figures.

Kc joined the FEA Members’ Club in order to be part of an engaging community of thriving women who truly support one another. She says she has made amazing connections and loves using the accountability partner feature to meet women with the same mindset, that get as excited as her when it comes to chatting about conversion rates and lead magnets!

Sold it in 2011 and she started looking at other businesses in interests she likes. She became a certified aromatherapist and a certification for mind-body eating. In those realms she noticed that there were wonderful people that were going from a corporate job into a passion project. They would graduate from these certification courses without any business skills and land into a “now what?” phase.

In this podcast, Kc and I discuss:

  • Her journey through nine different business ideas before she managed to make the 10th one work and what happened when it all took off.
  • The importance of giving your ideas and projects time to grow and gain momentum.
  • How she found a gap in the market for her next idea after selling her first successful company, that revolved around her passion.
  • The fear she had to deal with when transitioning from being behind the scenes of a brand and part of a partnership to being the solo face of her business.
  • How this helped her break out of her shell and drop the “introvert” label, which she had hidden behind for so long. Kc shares the personal and spiritual work she had to do to get out of her own way and how she dealt with the fear of “Going Live” every day.
  • Overcoming that internal tug-of-war when you discover your potential but can’t seem to do anything about it and you’re standing in your own way.
  • How struggle is simply an inevitable part of the process for most solopreneurs and how it helps us develop empathy, clarity and gratitude.
  • One of her biggest wins with recently landing a dream client.
  • How to respect the hustle at the beginning of building a business and the need to then look at ways of reducing the workload to avoid burning out.

52: Creating a Mantra for the Year!

The New Year is nearly here, and one of the things I most love to do before I start a new year is to create a mantra for the year!  It's so helpful to have a go-to saying for the year that you can keep coming back to when things get difficult and you're struggling to remember the purpose behind what you're doing.  The idea is to centre your thoughts around one phrase that can help you to keep pushing forward in order to create the success that you want over the course of the year, but it can also just be a lot of fun to play around with creating your own mantra!  I'd really encourage you to give this a go yourself - think about what's been most bothering you or holding you back in 2019 and have a go at creating a mantra in response to that problem. And if you're struggling with the exact wording, feel free to pinch one of the mantras that I've given here!

51: How To Build The Lifestyle Business Of Your Dreams with Sophie Le Brozec - Success Stories

If you’ve ever dreamed of starting an online business so that you could live and work from a remote, tropical island heaven, then this episode will give you some serious inspiration! In it I catch up with an incredible member from the Members’ Club, Sophie Le Brozec!

Sophie and her husband decided to leave London in search of sunnier climes, and with the knowledge that they could run their online businesses from anywhere in the world, they moved to the gorgeous island of Mauritius. Sophie is the founder of Life Reboot Camp, an online program and community that helps women get the most and the best out of their life.

When she was 17, Sophie would joke that her dream was to live on a French-speaking tropical island. Fast forward to the present day, and she now lives that exact dream! With a little help from her husband, who was always interested in entrepreneurship, Sophie shed her mindset that a traditional, “stable” job is best and that building your own business is “dangerous”.

She started with a mummy blog during her pregnancy in 2012 and from there, discovered the limitless opportunities of the online world. That’s when she joined the Members’ Club, which Sophie says helped her stumble upon her current business idea, which had always been the missing piece of the puzzle. She launched her business two months after joining and has since created amazing success!

In this podcast, Sophie and I discuss:

  • Her journey from living in the South of France, on to London and then to running an online business from Mauritius.
  • The epiphany she had a month after joining FEA and how she launched her business idea only a month after that.
  • How she surrendered control before she had clarity around her business and simply trusted that the information she needed would come to her.
  • The fears she had to overcome as she started putting herself and her business out there and being really vulnerable with what she was sharing.
  • The incredible way her business has grown since launching in February 2018 and how she has since written a book and hosted a retreat in the UK.
  • The reaction and self-assurance she had after the first sale from someone she didn’t know!
  • The internal work she had to do on herself when all she wanted to do was run and hide shortly after launching her business as she feared being judged.
  • Why having an online community of like-minded women is so important to her.
  • Her incredible journey to writing her book: How To Be Happy...No Matter What Sh!t Life Throws At You, which talks about all the difficult experiences she’s gone through and the tools she learnt to overcome unhappiness.

Sophie’s top tips for success are:

  • Anything bad that happens is there for a reason - it’s a learning experience or something that you need to go through to experience something better.
  • When you’re trying to figure out what the next step is, don’t get too consumed with what other people have done and what the “right” thing is - think about what YOU want and how you’re going to make it happen.  Don’t listen too much to other people’s thoughts, many times they are simply projecting their own insecurities onto you.
  • Don’t accept “societal norms” if you are unhappy. Life is not about sitting up and putting up, because that’s “just the way it is”. You have complete control of your life and your happiness so decide what will make you happy and do it.

If you’re building a product-based business and want to create more meaningful products that reflect your personality and encourage a movement around shared values, then this episode is for you! In this episode I’m joined by one of our amazing members from the Members’ Club, Roseanna Croft,  who is the founder of Roseanna Croft Jewellery, a fine jewellery brand that designs bespoke and one of a kind pieces, to tell your story and capture memories.

After blagging her way into her first job as a goldsmith and working in the jewellery industry in Australia, Roseanna decided to boldly move back to the UK to start her own business. She declined a number of job opportunities and, with some help from her uncle, an established jewellery designer, she set up her own shop, up levelled her skills and slowly grew an amazing customer base.

Roseanna realised that building a business was a lonely journey, so she decided to join the Members’ Club. She says it has not only helped her learn all about social media and building websites, but also gave her access to an incredible community and the opportunity to find answers, inspiration, support and even friends! Roseanna shared how, after following an Annual Goal Setting And Planning Workshop, she went on to surpass the revenue goal she set for herself, doubling her turnover within a couple of years.

In this podcast, Roseanna and I discuss:

  • How she not only moved countries, but also decided to take the plunge and open her own shop, even without any business experience.
  • The fear she had to overcome when approaching banks for a business loan and the organisations she joined to learn all about business and being an entrepreneur.

  • The product-creation process, from idea stage to building entire product lines that get people talking.
  • How she overcame her tendency to constantly question whether she’s doing the right thing and found the courage to put herself, her products and her business out there.
  • Her biggest wins and how she has managed to get industry and regional press coverage as well as being recognized as a “Rising Star” by an industry magazine.
  • How she went from a low point in her life to embarking on a personal development journey and making self-care, her mind and her values a priority.
  • The process behind her new product (which has been 4 years in the making) and how she injected storytelling and meaning into it, that has now grown into a movement and attracted significant press attention.
  • The importance of having the end destination in mind and accepting that the path might change, but if you keep working and moving forward, you’ll get to where you want to go.

Roseanna’s top tips for success are:

  • Make self-care and living by your values a priority. Always make time to take care of your mind and body.
  • Learn how your mind works and develop self-awareness - Recognize when you’re falling into a negative mindset and try to get yourself back on track, because there’s nothing like the power of positivity.
  • Believe in yourself and when you see other people’s success, remember that you can do it too and that anything is possible!

In it I chat with one of our amazing members from the Members’ Club, Jane Middlehurst! Jane is the co-founder of HomeNotes, an online community that helps and supports people through their home renovation process.

Along with her business partner Amy, Jane has been running her own architectural practice for over seven years. In this podcast, Jane and I chat all about:

  • How Jane and Amy took the leap and started an architectural practice together seven years ago.

45: Turning a Lifelong Passion Into A Business With Abbi Burns - Success Stories

I can’t wait for you to listen to this episode of the She Means Business podcast because it’s as fun as it is inspiring! I caught up with Abbi Burns, founder of entertainment company, Darley Dance Productions, as she walked me through her journey of transforming from a dancer into a business owner and building a successful business.

Abbi has been a dancer since the age of three, but after she rebelled and quit professional dance at 18 years old, she soon realised that it was in fact her lifelong passion. She decided to start her own dance company, despite the fact that she had no clue about running a business. She says business, to her, was all about “men in grey suits with briefcases”, and it took her years to acknowledge that she was in fact a business owner running a “proper” business.

Abbi discovered FEA and joined the Members’ Club a few years ago, when she felt like she had nowhere to turn to for answers to her business questions as the years went on, guidance on becoming a better business owner and inspiration to help her get over her fears. Since joining, her business has gone from strength to strength, and she’s become an entrepreneur that regularly “follows the fear” and pushes herself out of her comfort zone.

In this podcast, Abbi and I talk about:

  • Her first years as a dancer, why she decided to quit and why starting a dance company was her way of staying true to her lifelong passion, in a completely different way.
  • How she learned the ropes in her business and the challenges she faced throughout the first years, including her struggle to identify herself as a business owner.
  • The first things she worked on as soon as she joined the Members’ Club, including setting serious goals for her business and focusing on improving her mindset so that she could scale and grow.
  • How she went from being a pessimist that stopped in her tracks when she felt challenged, scared and uncomfortable, to an entrepreneur with a positive mindset that regularly follows her fears and pushes herself out of her comfort zone.

Abbi’s top tips for success are:

  • To recognise that fear is simply your own perception of a situation, and that what you’re scared of isn’t in fact real! Abbi says that she always asks herself, “What’s the worst that could happen!” and that she now follows her fear because that’s where success is waiting for us. Abbi says that through her experiences she’s realised that as you overcome more and more scary challenges, you’ll start to realise how amazing and capable you actually are!
  • There’s value in making mistakes and you just need to be who you are, even if you’re scared that you might look like a fool or embarrass yourself! Even if you do make mistakes, it makes you more relatable to your audience and your clients.
  • The most important thing you can do for yourself and your business is to work on your mindset and the biggest thing you need to overcome is your own fear!

44: Overcoming Self-Doubt And Starting A Business You Love with Katie Tovey-Grindlay - Success Stories

The She Means Business Podcast is back!

I’m so excited for today’s episode because I’m chatting to one of our amazing Members’ Club members, Katie Tovey-Grindlay! Katie has been an entrepreneur since 2011, when she left the Royal Navy and started a dog walking business. From there, she went on to set up her own social media agency, Business Wonderland, and she has recently set up her third business, Petfluencer Agency!

Katie joined the Members’ Club in 2015 when one of her biggest struggles was getting into the right mindset for success and overcoming the fear that was holding her back. Katie says she not only learned how to beat her mindset struggles through the Members’ Club, she also formed amazing friendships and found incredible support from the other members.

She also loves learning new strategies she wouldn’t have previously thought of, like recording videos or copywriting.

One of her highlights since becoming a member has been attending our members-only Inspired Vacay, which she says helped her come away from that event with a solid plan of action.

In this podcast, Katie and I discuss:

  • The truth about being an entrepreneur, how Katie got started and how she went from the Royal Navy to having Sir Paul McCartney tweet about her own business within a few years!
  • Her journey from starting a dog walking business, progressing to a social media agency and now setting up a third business.
  • The biggest struggle she had to overcome and why becoming more self-aware and working on her mindset has helped her achieve success.
  • The highlights she has had since becoming an entrepreneur and how celebrities and brands have been tweeting about her business.

Katie’s top tips for success are:

  • Not to let the fear cripple you and stop you from doing what you want to do. Just go for it because, what’s the worst that could happen?

Hello and welcome back to another episode of She Means Business! In this episode, I was joined by the lovely Megan Auman. She creates absolutely beautiful jewellery. I love hearing behind the scenes of how she’s turned into a big success. One of the biggest takeaways is the fact that as entrepreneurs we need to show up and take action. We don’t have to have it all figured out. We don’t need to be able to see the whole path. We just need to get going and test it all out. That’s how we can create lots and lots of success. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this episode and love it as much as I did. It is honestly so inspiring.

9: From Welfare to 7 Figures - How Anything Is Possible with Kimra Luna

How does a woman become unstoppable? How does she grow a business rapidly toward multi-six figures in only a few years? Kimra Luna is the unstoppable woman to ask because she’s done it. And that’s what I did on this episode of She Means Business. In this conversation you’re going to hear Kimra describe the life she lives now because of the success of her business - but not without some context of where she’s come from. She was on welfare and trying to raise a little one when she first began doing course launches online. Now she’s experiencing the fruit of her labor. You’ll hear Kimra’s amazing story on this episode.

From welfare to multiple six figures in one year. Kimra Luna’s amazing story.

When Kimra Luna first started doing things online she thought she was going to be one of the thousands of mommy bloggers out there - and she was for a short time. It was the traffic she was getting to her website that got the attention of one of her friends who then suggested that she teach people how she was doing it. So, she put together a quick outline, joined her friend on a Google Hangout, and things began to snowball from there. Those were the beginning stages of Kimra’s product creation and launch process that has now earned her incredible income over and over. You can learn a lot from hearing how she went about it and how she approaches it, so be sure to listen.

Kimra Luna’s launch process? Webinars. Webinars. Webinars.

Part of what makes an unstoppable woman is a tenacity that keeps at it until something works. Kimra Luna discovered that what works for her are unscripted webinars that provide huge amounts of training to anyone who watches. She doesn’t hold anything back. It’s that commitment to providing full-on help to anyone who wants to attend that has fueled her product launches - and she’s not slowing down the momentum. Kimra continues to do webinars to this day as her go-to strategy for getting attention, helping people, and making her sales engine continue to run. It’s a different but effective approach that she unpacks on this episode.

Why has Kimra Luna’s journey been so unstoppable?

Kimra says it’s because she has been blessed with tenacity, in spite of a very hard younger life. There is something in her that simply won’t quit until she has what she is aiming to get. People in her life have often remarked how amazed they are that she’s been able to do the things she has done, given the background she’s come from. But Kimra thinks it’s something anyone can train themselves to do. That kind of tenacity can be learned, she’s convinced of it. Hear more of her story.

Sometimes we forget how tough we really are.

As she works with women who are seeking to build a successful business like she has, Kimra Luna says that she has to remind them how tough they really are. She’ll ask them enough questions to know the hardships they’ve already come through and then point out to them how tough they must have been to make it through. Then she turns the focus toward the present and tells them, “You can do this. You’ve already proven you’re tough enough.” Sometimes, we forget how tough we really are, and we need an unstoppable woman like Kimra to remind us. That’s what this episode did for me. I hope it does for you as well.

  • [1:11] My introduction of my great guest today, Kimra Luna.

7: The Power of Persuasion Built Her Million Dollar Business with Bushra Azhar

The power of persuasion is a vital skill every online entrepreneur needs to learn. It’s how you convince people that your services or expertise matches their particular need. It’s how you convert lookers into buyers. It’s how you establish the trust that enables you to build a relationship with your following. On this episode of the podcast, I had such a great time chatting with one of the most persuasive people I know, Bushra Azhar. She’s been able to build an incredible online business focused on teaching others the power of persuasion and how to apply it to their online businesses. The funny thing is, she started her business as a bet with herself. You can hear Bushra’s amazing story on this episode of She Means Business.

She started an online business as a bet with herself.

When Bushra Azhar first thought about starting an online business she wasn’t very convinced that it would work. The only way she knew of to earn money through the internet was by selling naked pictures of herself - which was NOT what she wanted to do. So she started inventorying the things she felt she could provide to people and realized that from a young age she’d been actively persuading people. It was not only an interest but something she felt she was truly good at. So she started pitching bloggers with a proposal that she write a guest post on their blogs - and many took her up on it. It’s those posts that attracted her first clients and she did it all before she even set up a website or refined what she’d offer as a service. It’s an unusual, hilarious story that worked out for her to the tune of millions, and you’ll get to hear it from Bushra herself on this episode.

She started by guest blogging about the power of persuasion for online entrepreneurs.

The only way Bushra Azhar could think of to get herself known was to borrow the audiences of people who had already built an online presence, so she started pitching bloggers that she could write guest posts for them about the art of persuasion. She got quite a few takers and started writing. Each site had it’s own particular focus and she crafted her guest posts to appeal to each site’s particular audience. She did it as a sort of experiment, to learn what niche areas of the business world had the greatest need for instruction in the power and art of persuasion. She got great insights as a result and her business started to gain traction. You’ll love hearing how she did it, so be sure you listen.

Powerful persuasion starts with relatability.

Since I had an expert on the power of persuasion as my guest on this episode of the podcast I thought I’d take the opportunity to ask her for some tips regarding how to be more persuasive. The first point she made was that persuasion begins with relatability. The person on the receiving end of your pitch has to feel that you are like them in some way, or at least that you were before you learned what you want to teach them. If they feel you are perfect and have it all together, they won’t believe that you can help them. But if you can show them how you are or were in the same situation they want to change in their own life, you’ve just connected with them on the level of relatability - and you’ve probably gained a customer or client.

How believable are you to those you’re trying to sell to?

We’ve all seen the infomercials where something about the presentation or the person making the pitch doesn’t feel trustworthy. You just can’t quite get yourself to believe that the thing that’s being sold really does all that is being claimed. That’s an issue of believability and Bushra Azhar says that it’s one of the key things you’ve got to be able to establish when you’re trying to sell a product or service. You have to come across as genuine, as trustworthy and believable to the people who need what you’re offering. If you don’t, you can forget about making the sale. It simply won’t happen. Find out the other tips Bushra Azhar gave me to be more persuasive on this episode of She Means Business.

5: Amy Porterfield Takes Us Behind the Scenes of her Business

All of us want to see our dreams come true. But how can you make it happen? Is it just chance or fate or something else? My guest today is a friend and someone I am immensely inspired by, Amy Porterfield. Her story shows us that dreams can come true when we are willing to make the effort to see them come true. It takes diligence, hard work, and lots of determination. But it can be done. Amy’s amazing story is proof of it. I hope you are as inspired by Amy’s story as I am. Her example is a true shining star we can follow to see our dreams come true.

Everything is a stepping stone.

Once Amy Porterfield began to realize that she wanted to be in greater control of her own destiny and that her dreams would not come true working for somebody else, she steered her life in a different direction. But she didn’t do it all at once. It was important to her to learn all she could from every opportunity - to see that everything she was doing presently was a stepping stone toward the future she wanted to build. So she applied herself to learn everything she could from every position she held and learned to pivot those skills into the things she wanted to do for herself in the future. As you probably know from Amy’s story, she was hugely successful doing so.

How do you know when it’s time to let go of something successful to do something new?

My friend Amy made her first big online success through the sales of an online course that she continued to refine over time, making it better and better and charging more and more for it. But the time came when she knew that it was time to move on to other products and services. How did she know it was time? I asked her that on this episode and she gave a very personal and powerful answer, so I hope you take the time to listen.

Anytime Amy Porterfield feels the need to rush, she intentionally slows down.

Some of the biggest mistakes Amy Porterfield made on her entrepreneurial journey were caused by a feeling that she had to rush. But she’s come to realize that those times are exactly when she needs to slow things down. It’s the feeling of rush that tips her off to the possibility that she’s probably trying to meet a standard other than her own. On this episode, Amy very transparently shares those mistakes and tells how she’s learned to follow her own sense of timing instead of letting the pressure get to her. You’ll learn a lot from my friend, Amy.

80% of success is mindset, 20% is mechanics.

Part of the journey that has led Amy Porterfield to the fulfillment of her dreams was working behind the scenes for Tony Robbins. Can you imagine an opportunity like that? She got to learn some of the most important lessons of her life close-up from Tony. One of those was that 80% of success is mindset and 20% is mechanics. So today, when Amy finds herself stressed about making her dreams come true, she takes it as a sign that her mindset is off. You can learn so much from Amy from this conversation. I know I did.

Outline of This Episode

  • [1:22] The webinars that I did with Amy once upon a time.
  • [5:40] How Amy got started as an entrepreneur (it includes working for Tony Robbins).
  • [8:40] The journey from working for Tony to working for herself.
