Heartbreaking, relatable, sad, humorous, and engaging all at the same time. What an excellently done Podcast. Highly recommend to anyone that may be on the fence - give it a shot. At least listen until the end of Episode 2 before deciding.

It is well made and researched. However it feels very much like they had to salvage the story when it transpired that there was no crime. Which is fair enough. However, this was done by going into such minute detail of the private life of some of the people involved that it feels much more like voyeurism than reporting.

Description

S-Town is a podcast hosted by Brian Reed from Serial Productions, a New York Times company. The story follows a man named John who despises his Alabama town and decides to do something about it. He asks Brian to investigate the son of a wealthy family who's allegedly been bragging that he got away with murder. But when someone else ends up dead, the search for the truth leads to a nasty feud, a hunt for hidden treasure, and an unearthing of the mysteries of one man's life.
