#256A: Esther part 3
1113

Esther 4:15-17, 5,6,7

In order to respect each families ages & stages of life, I have adapted some of this. Please go back and read the scriptures referenced discussing with your family as is appropriate. These episodes build upon themselves so please listen to Esther part 1 & 2 if you’ve missed them.

Queen Esther saw a problem and instead of pushing it off on someone else to solve, Mordecai reminded her that maybe God made her queen for that exact moment. The kids will be reminded that like  Esther,  God has specific plans for them. God knows we will see certain problems or someone needing help and He wants US to be the one to help. Our loving God wants us to be included in His wonderful plans....the plans may be small or big, but each day God has a purpose for US !

Esther 2:19- 4:14

In order to respect each families ages & stages of life, I have adapted some of this. Please go back and read the scriptures referenced discussing with your family as is appropriate.

We continue our Esther series. Listen to # 254 if you missed it. Today, we hear Esther has a serious  decision to make. We learn that doing the right thing can be unpopular or even kind of scary sometimes. The kids will think about examples of this in their lives. We remain encouraged that right is always right even if no one else is doing it AND hear that perhaps, Esther was made Queen for such a time as this.

#250A: Words part 1: You can’t Grow Bananas from an Appleseed
819

Luke 6:43-45

Today we begin a short series on words... ya' know, the things that come out of your mouth when you speak. Maybe you’ve never really stopped to think much about them, they just happen so quickly. Our words do matter b/c they have power and are important.. atleast, that’s what the Bible says. In this episode, we will talk about where words come from & listen to Jesus teaching using an example of something the people were familiar with..trees and fruit.

Thank you for your Prayers; update episode
147

This is not our typical episode. I realized I have not updated how my 5yr old son has been doing. I know so many of you have helped join me in prayer and for that, I am beyond grateful. I wanted to say thank you & give a short update. Though there have been hard times,  God has provided so much for us; whether that's resources, some good medical news, or how He has grown us. I would love to share all of this in detail but I know it may be inappropriate for some children to hear and I want to be sensitive to that.  Thank you for your prayers!!!!!

#249A: Money part 3: The LOVE of Money
760

Matthew 6:19-21 & 1 Timothy: 6-10,17-19

You will hear this episode start out just like last weeks however, keep listening because we are adding in different scriptures and discussing a new application. We will hear God's warning about money but also His promises. The kids will understand that money itself isn't bad, it's the LOVE of money that gets us into trouble. We apply this on a very practical level as well as discuss what the Bible says about storing up treasures in heaven.

I hope you enjoy it! Thank you for sharing the Bible with your kids!

#248A: Money Part 2: Life is Not Made up of how many Toys you Have
866

Matthew 6:19-21, 24 & Luke 12:13-15

In today's story we hear Jesus teach "Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.” We discuss what greed actually is and share an example from my childhood that the kids can relate to. We must be on our guard as Jesus says, because often the world we live in tells us the opposite. It says your life is cool, amazing, and valuable IF you buy this thing or that thing. It is not wrong to want things.. we simply must be cautious that we don't become greedy with our wants. God wants us to trust that He will give us all we really need. He gives us reasons to trust him AND explains why his ways are best which will be discussed on the next episode.

#247A: Money Part 1: It's Not the Size of the Gift that Matters
545

Mark 12:41- 44

This is the beginning of our short series on money. We discuss what we mean when we talk about our "hearts." Today, we hear the story of the poor widow giving out of her poverty. If we quantified it, she gave less than others BUT Jesus still says she gave more than all those who contributed to the offering box. Hmmmm. What does this mean? Well, tune in to today's story to see why it's not the size of the gift that matters.

#246A: But I didn't See Him!
710

John 20:17-31

Jesus had risen and his followers got to see him! All were overjoyed except the 1 who  wasn't there when Jesus came. Thomas had missed this incredible meeting and doubted what his friends were telling him. We note that Thomas was a real person just like us & like him, we can always talk to Jesus about our questions or doubts.  Will Jesus come back to show Thomas too?!? What does Jesus call us who haven't seen him but believe? Tune in to hear this story.

#245A: Jesus Heals a Paralyzed Man
770

Mark 1:41-45 & 2:1-12

Today, we hear a paralyzed man get lowered from the roof in hopes to get in front of Jesus and be healed. I wonder if the paralyzed man was disappointed when the 1st thing Jesus says to him is "Young man, your sins are forgiven.” What? They had gone through all this trouble to have him walk again…what was this about sins?  As we continue the story, Jesus shows us that the biggest issue is our sin but the good news is that He can forgive them. We are reminded of the love He has for us as evidenced by the sacrifice He made to forgive us.

#244A: Daniel Part 6: Daniel and the Lions Den
1260

Daniel 6

To respect the variety of ages and stages of life that listen, I have adapted some of this so please go back and read the scriptures yourself including what is appropriate for your family.

Today is the last episode in our Daniel series! As we end, we find Daniel in a very scary situation.... in the lion's den. Daniel had done everything right yet it seemed like everything was going wrong. This story reminds us that even though we do the right things, the outcome can still feel wrong. But be encouraged b/c we hear that God never leaves Daniel's side. The apply section discusses that God loves us and is with us on good days and hard days too.

I hope you've enjoyed the Daniel series and if you have missed any, I'd highly recommend you go back and start at Daniel part one.

#243A: Daniel part 5: Will King Nebuchadnezzar Learn His Lesson?
854

Daniel 4:28-37

In our last Daniel episode, episode #240, we heard the king writing a letter explaining a bizarre dream he had. If you missed it, make sure to go back and listen because this episode builds upon it.

The king's dream ends up coming true & God humbles him in this process. We discuss the difference b/n humility and pride and are reminded that God was so patient w/ the king. God offers us this same, loving patience when we ask for his forgiveness. God doesn’t roll his eyes when we ask for forgiveness yet again but instead, he’s so patient, so loving, that he HE wants to hear from us.....bring us  back to Him when we wander off the path b/c He loves us so much!

#241A: I don't Know Him...Peter's Denial
865

John 18:1-18, 25-26 & John 13:36-38

This is a perfect episode to prepare us for Easter. The story reminds the listeners that Jesus always knew Peter would deny him and that Judas would betray him. It reassures us that Jesus had a plan all along and was not surprised. Just as we heard w/ Peter,  you can never do anything that Jesus doesn’t already know about AND he still chooses to love YOU.  Jesus loves you b/c you’re YOU! You are his child, made in His image. No matter how many roosters crow in your life, Jesus will still lovingly welcome you back w/ open arms.

#240A: Daniel part 4: Who is the REAL King?
843

Daniel 4:1-27

If you have missed the previous Daniel episodes, I'd recommend you go back and listen  as the stories build upon themselves.

Today, we hear king Nebuchadnezzar have another dream. Daniel explains that this dream is from God and is a warning for the king. This dream is to help teach him a lesson: to stop doing wicked things and be kind & admit that God is the ultimate ruler of the kingdom and not him. We discuss how this applies to a child's life. The kids will  observe areas that we try to set up our own little kingdoms  and act as  king or queen & we end with being comforted by the reality that our all knowing, all loving, never changing God is the ultimate ruler.

Thanks for tuning in to the Daniel series. I hope this always draws the kids closer to knowing Jesus.

#239A: Daniel part 3: There were 4 Walking in the Fire
1061

Daniel 3

If you missed last weeks episode, I highly recommend you go back and listen as these will build upon themselves.

In today's story we hear king Nebuchadnezzar build a golden statue and demand that everyone must bow down to it.  What will the consequence be if they don't? We may not be asked to bow down to a statue but we must be careful because we too can make other things more important than God.... Just as king Nebuchadnezzar wanted that statue to be more important than God. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego's faith shines brightly in this story. It's easy for us to say "God I'll worship you because you gave me exactly what I wanted today." It's a different feeling when we can say “God I really hope this or that will happen BUT even if it doesn't , I will still love you and worship you." That’s what they did!

Even in one of their most frightening experiences, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego had their Heavenly Father there with them. Just as He was there with them, He will be with you all of the days of your life.

Thanks for tuning in to the Daniel series. I hope this always draws the kids closer to knowing Jesus.

#238A: Daniel part 2: God gets the Credit
905

 Daniel 2:1-28,46-49

In order to respect each families ages & stages of life I have adapted some of this b/c of the content in Daniel and the time allotment for the episode. So PLEASE go back and read the scripture yourself including what is appropriate for your family.

The King has some confusing dreams and the only one who can explain them is Daniel. Daniel knew this was made possible b/c of God not him, so he made sure God received the credit. The kids are reminded to observe the wonderful things God allows us to do and be grateful versus puffing ourselves up as if it's all b/c of us. Some may think our examples don't seem incredible. God gave Daniel the ability to do something amazing! But the truth is, ours are actually miraculous things! They just seem normal b/c they happen day after day. We get used to seeing the miracle God provides each new day.

Thanks for tuning in to the Daniel series. I hope this always draws the kids closer to knowing Jesus.

#237A: Daniel part 1: But Everyone Else is doing it
766

Daniel 1

In order to respect each families ages & stages of life I have adapted some of this b/c of the content in Daniel and the time allotment for the episode. So PLEASE go back and read the scripture yourself including what is appropriate for your family.

Today we hear Daniel asking permission not to indulge in the King's food b/c it would make him impure.  Daniel did not want to disobey God even though it seemed like everyone else was. We apply that our world or culture sometimes wants us to do things that God says not to do. We may feel the pressure to do it b/c well, everyone else is.  The kids see that Daniel knew what was right b/c he knew God's word and he chose to obey even if it seemed no one else was. The kids will hear examples of what this may look like in their own lives.

Thanks for listening! I hope this always draws the kids closer to knowing Jesus.

#235A: Pride part 2: But I know Best...Pieces of a Puzzle
673

Proverbs 26:12, 1John 3:20, Psalm 139:16, Isaiah 40:28, & Luke 1:26-38

We will be reading these straight through so please go back to this reference if needed.

This is part two in our pride series. If you missed last weeks episode, please go back and listen.

Today we hear our Bible tell us that God knows everything, that he loves us, and that we can trust him. When we think we know better than God, then we are acting in pride. The Application section helps the kids connect the dots by using an example of a puzzle. We get glimpses of these tiny puzzle pieces in our lives and some pieces are confusing like Mary’s visit with the angel while other pieces are very exciting and happy!   But God sees the whole picture, our whole life... things we can’t but he can b/c God already sees it put together forming a beautiful, purposeful picture.

We must remember not to become prideful , when the pieces don’t make sense or maybe we don’t like them. We shouldn’t try to force pieces together that don’t fit.... then, comes pride: “But God, I know better, I want the picture to look like this, not that!”

#234A: Pride part 1: Pride Goes Before Destruction: Anything you can do, I can do better
1089

Proverbs 16:18-19, 11:2, 13:10,29:23 & James 4:6 We will be reading these straight through so please go back to this reference if needed.

Last week, we learned about humility. Today we hear about its opposite… Pride.  Pride can take many forms but today, we are going to hear a made up story to show how pride goes before destruction and is damaging to yourself and others.....how pride can make us  care too much about what others think of us instead of what God thinks. We will hear the scriptures first and then move straight into the story. The Bible is where we go to to understand pride. We discuss the importance of always going back to the Bible because sometimes the world will teach the opposite. The world may clap for things that God tells us to steer clear from.

I hope you enjoy today's story! If you have enjoyed this podcast, would you please share this free resource with other families who would enjoy it.

#233A: Humbly Trusting like a Child
645

Mark 10:13-16 & Matthew 18:1-4

Today, we hear what Jesus says about being humble. His followers try to keep the children from Jesus but instead, Jesus welcomes them with open arms. He teaches that " The greatest person in the kingdom of heaven is the one who makes himself humble like this child."  This story will explain why children are used as an example of humility and we help the children connect the dots of applying this in their lives. We differentiate humility from speaking badly about yourself and hear what the Bible says about true humility.

#231A: Do Not Worry about Tomorrow
589

Matthew 6:25-34

Jesus is a fantastic teacher and one day, he was teaching his friends about worry. He used things we are familiar with like birds and flowers to help us understand why we shouldn't worry. Jesus cares for us so much, that He doesn't want us to live in worry b/c worry never feels good so he helps us understand what we should do if we begin to worry.

#230A: He who has been Forgiven Little Loves Little
767

Luke 7:36-50

This is a story about how to fall more in love with Jesus. We hear how a woman who realizes how serious her sin is suddenly now aware of just how sweet Jesus' forgiveness is. This realization turns her heart to love Jesus even more and from this love, she weeps, wetting his feet w/ her tears and using expensive perfume on them. Contrast this with the Pharisee who is there and how much love he shows Jesus. Knowing what is going on in the heart of the Pharisee, Jesus tells him a story to help him understand that he who has been forgiven little loves little. We do emphasis  that Jesus is NOT saying to go and do worse things to be forgiven for more severe things.

#229A: The Wise Men
574

Matthew 2:1-12

This is the classic scripture about the Wise men.  The kids will learn that these wise men were not who you would expect to search out Jesus.  We discuss what Gentile means and realize that Jesus is not just the king of the Jews but the King of all nations. That's wonderful news for us! You don't have to be a certain age, live in a specific area, or look a certain way to worship Jesus.

#227A: A Savior is Born
729

Luke 2:4-7 & Matthew 1:21 Today we hear the classic story of Jesus being born in Bethlehem. I am just getting over losing my voice so I apologize that it sounds different.  In our story, we hear that Jesus' birth changed everything. This was part of God's rescue plan but we contemplate what Jesus gave up when he came down to Earth and put on human flesh. The apply section speaks of the significance of His birth. Without the birth of our Savior, Jesus, there would be no cross.  Without the cross and resurrection at Easter, we would have no hope.  I hope you all enjoy this episode.  Merry Christmas!

#226A: Advent activity 2: No One is Perfect
418

Romans 3:22-24

We will first hear what our Bible says and then have a short, simple activity for your family to try. We are doing 1 activity a week for advent in addition to our weekend full stories. I intentionally made these activities very simple! You do NOT have to purchase anything, no prep needed, and the whole family can listen and enjoy.

Today we learn that no one can earn God's love. Sometimes we believe a lie that if we are able to act a certain way, then we'd be perfect and then God will love us. Our activity has the kids discuss this. No amount of money or trying to be perfect will earn his Love. Instead, people are made right with God by his grace, which is a free gift.

#225A: What Did Jesus Save us From?
616

Romans 3:23 -24 & John 3:16

To prepare for Christmas, we need to understand why Jesus' birth is such a big deal. To begin to grasp how important it is, we will rewind back to the Garden. I understand there are a variety of ages and backgrounds who are listening so I have tried to keep it age appropriate for most families.

We learn about:

1. Adam & Eve sinning & how that affects us.

2. We all need Jesus and His grace. Grace is a gift, not earned.

3. Sin separates us from God. We are made right with God by being made free from sin through Jesus Christ.

***** We will not discuss Hell in this episode. Hell is biblical and should be discussed in your family when it's appropriate. I did not address this here as I want to respect families and the personal discussions that need to occur in the home for this.

****** I am including the link Desiring God & https://mamabearapologetics.com/teaching-kids-understand-sin/   here as a resource for further discussions around these topics. ***********

#223A: Give Thanks in ALL Situations
933

Luke 22:42 & 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

We are doing something different for this episode. We will hear a short scripture from our bible and then listen to an imaginary story about Molly and Will to help us understand the scripture. Molly & Will just read our scripture AND you’ll hear they both experience the same exact day.  Will they react the same way to their day though?

Today's story reminds us that God is not upset when pray for him change the situation. We look at Jesus as our example who prayed to his Father in Luke 22  " If you are willing, remove this cup from me. Yet not my will, but yours be done." God wants us to pray about anything and everything but Jesus is also our example that we must trust Him even if the situation does not change. Can we trust Him? You sure can. Tune in to today's story to hear why we can trust Him and how we can find something to be thankful for even in hard situations.

#222A: 10 are Healed but ONLY 1 Says Thanks
548

Luke 17:11-19

This was one of our archived episodes. We hear 10 sick men ask Jesus to help heal them. Jesus helps them but how many are grateful and actually thank him? We may think that we would never do such a thing but the story reminds all of us that we too have taken things for granted or not giving God the praise He deserves. Thanking God doesn't have to be long or filled with fancy words. In fact, some of our listeners today share things they are thankful for and set an example of being grateful.

#221A: A Weapon of Thankfulness
887

 Psalm 100, Philippians 4:4-6 , Colossians 4:2, & Ephesians 6:10-18

This month we are continuing to talk about gratitude, being thankful. We hear the Bible whisper over and over again to give God thanks. Being thankful is like a powerful weapon to combat greed, anxiety, and our enemy. We hear how Satan told a lie in the Garden and he is still trying to trick us w/ his lies today. To combat this, we learn to use the Truth..that there is already so much we have to be thankful for. When we choose to see the wonderful things , we realize we already have so much to be thankful for..and being thankful, it’s like kicking the enemy in the teeth.  It protects our hearts & how we feel. It guides our thoughts to the goodness of God and reminds us that every good and perfect gift comes from our Heavenly Father above.

#220A: YOU were made by God Himself
824

Psalm 139 & Acts 17:25-26

This month we are going to talk about gratitude, being thankful. Today, we jump right in learning that you can thank God for making you. He has a plan for you, a purpose, and was not suddenly surprised, scrambling to figure out where you would live and when you’d be born. God made YOU on purpose & the Bible doesn't say you are just an okay, kind of good work of God ... it says that you are a wonderful work of God ! We discuss how we should be cautious to compare ourselves with others and how we can delight in our differences and similarities.

#219A: Exodus part 21: Trumpets sound and Walls Fall
833

 Joshua 6

I respect each family's ages & stages of life so I have adapted some of this. PLEASE go back and read the scripture yourself including what is appropriate for your family. If you’ve missed the Exodus series, please go back and listen as they build upon each other.

This is the last story in our Exodus series! We did it! Today we get to hear the the walls of Jericho fall and God's people enter the land. They obey using trumpets and shouts to make the wall fall. We apply that obeying God doesn't always look like we think it would.  Sometimes we think it will look like superhero work or will be shown on the news BUT our every day obedience to God matters and may seem small but it's really, really BIG.

676

Joshua 3 & 4

I respect each family's ages & stages of life so I have adapted some of this. PLEASE go back and read the scripture yourself including what is appropriate for your family. If you’ve missed the Exodus series, please go back and listen as they build upon each other.

Today we hear God provide in another mighty way as they begin to cross over to Jericho. We will recall similar ways He provided earlier in Exodus and how He told them to keep items to help their descendants remember. Last time it was a jar of manna and this time, it's something different. God knows we are prone to forget and He wants us to give ourselves and the next generation, reminders of how faithful He is. We hear what the Israelites used for their reminders and discuss what we have in our own lives that serve as reminders of God's faithfullness.

Thanks for tuning in. We are just about done with our Exodus series and we hope you've enjoyed them.

 Deuteronomy 31, & 34:10-12, Joshua 1 & 2

I respect each family's ages & stages of life so I have adapted some of this. PLEASE go back and read the scripture yourself including what is appropriate for your family. If you’ve missed the Exodus series, please go back and listen as they build upon each other.

Today we hear Moses dies at 120 yrs old and Joshua takes over leading the people. God reminds them over and over again to not be afraid... that HE will be with them wherever they go. The people prepare to enter Jericho but 2 spies assess the land first and they receive help from Rahab. Rahab has heard of God's mighty works and offers to help them. We apply the truth that God is  with us too; even on those sad or frustrating days, God is with us!  We can be encouraged as Joshua was.

#216A Exodus part 18: I Spy with My Little Eye
1220

Exodus 32, Numbers 13 & 14

I respect each families ages &  stage of life so I have adapted some of this. PLEASE go back and read the scripture yourself including what is appropriate for your family. If you’ve missed the Exodus series, I’d highly recommend you go back and listen as they build upon each other.

Today we get to hear what the people did while Moses was receiving the 10 commandments, hear the spies check out the promised land, and learn how Joshua and Caleb clung to God's promises. We hear them walk by faith and not by sight. We will hear that the unbelieving generation doesn't get to enter the promised land and how it will be their children who will enjoy the land flowing with milk and honey which God promised to them. The kids will apply God's promises to their own lives and think about which promises are easy to see and which are harder to see. The story connects the dots that we can trust God's promises, like Caleb and Joshua did, even when it can be hard.

214A: Exodus part 16: What's a Commandment?
538

Exodus 19: 1-8, 16-20

Today we hear Moses called to the top of Mount Sinai where God gives him the 10 commandments. We learn what a commandment is. Next week, we'llgo through the 10 commandments and hear what they are but today, we will focus on why we even have them.

God gave them and us these 10 rules which showed how life worked best. We begin to understand that rules are there to protect us b/c God loves us. The kids apply this to a rule in their life to help them better understand this.

Thank you so much for helping your children hear the Word of God and grow their faith.

Exodus 17:8-13

Today we hear about the battle with the Amalekites. During this battle, Moses must keep his arms raised or else the Israelites begin to lose! When Moses grew tired, he had two helpers at his side: Aaron & Hur. We apply that God gives us people to help us too. God created us to be with others.... to have family and friends, a church, & a community. He gives us people who can help us when we grow tired, just like he did for Moses.

EXODUS 17:1-7

If you’ve missed our Exodus episodes, I'd highly recommend you go back and listen from # 199 or # 207  b/c the context is important and the stories will build upon themselves.

Today, we hear the Israelites struggling in the desert as they journey to the promised land. The Israelites thought this hardship meant God wasn’t among them but that’s simply not true. We can remember the truth, that though we will have sad, and difficult days… God sees you, is with YOU , and loves you! We hear how God is with the Israelites and provides for them time and time again.

#211A: Exodus part 13: A Jar for Generations
554

Exodus 16: 31-35

We continue our Exodus series. God instructs Moses and Aaron to place some manna in a jar for the next generation. As time passes and the Israelites get older, God wants them to be able to see that manna sitting in the jar and remember that time in the desert,....remember what God did and his faithfulness. They’ll continue to tell their children,  grandchildren, & great grand children the miraculous story of what happened to them in the desert. We apply this to our lives and recount if we have items in our life that serve as reminders of how good God is. We discuss ideas to use for this and help get the family involved.

#210A: Exodus part 12: It's Raining Bread but..... will they Listen?
747

Exodus 16: 17-31

Today, we hear how some of the people did not listen to God's instructions about gathering manna. The Israelites, didn’t listen to God b/c they didn’t trust Him. They didn’t trust He would rain down bread again the next day ...they didn’t trust HE knew best.

We apply this to our lives and examine why we don't listen all the time either. The story reminds us that we can trust God AND if he is trustworthy, that means we can listen to Him. Listening means more than just hearing w/ your ears.. it also means, obeying with your actions. The Israelites who listened obeyed God’s instructions about gathering Manna.

 Exodus 16:1-16

Wandering in the desert, the people become hungry. God had just miraculously provided for them but  the Israelites have quickly forgotten. What an exciting story this is! God says the forecast is set for raining bread and meat!!!! The story reminds us yet again of God's faithfulness and how quickly we can forget it.  We discuss ways we can practice remembering God's provisions so we don't forget like they did.

#208A: Exodus part 10: Oh, how Quickly we Forget
753

Exodus 15:22-27

Today we find Moses leading the Israelites in the hot desert when things become hard. They begin to grumble b/c they have no water! God had just performed an incredible miracle, saving them from the Egyptians by parting the Red Sea for them BUT the days were hard and they quickly forget that God can provide just as He always has. This story warns us to be cautious b/c we too, quickly forget good things from God and can begin to grumble just like the Israelites did. When things are hard, we can remember this story and choose to remember, what He’s done for us in the past. It doesn’t mean we can’t be sad, pray, or talk to Mom or Dad about how we feel, but it does mean we choose to remember the truth: that God is good, and God loves you even on those hard days…

#206A: Exodus part 8: God Wants us to Know Him
864

Exodus 9 & 10

Today we are in part 8 of our Exodus series.  We will hear the last few plagues. In today's story, we connect the dots that God wants us to know HIM. He doesn't play hide and seek but instead, truly wants us to know Him.  After many of the plagues, we hear God say he used his power so that everyone would know that He is God and that no one could boast that they had saved themselves, but it was truly only God who saved them; bringing them out of Egypt.

We continue our Exodus series. I respect each families ages/stages of life so I have adapted some of this. PLEASE go back and read the scriptures to include what's appropriate for your family.

Today we hear how God has a plan for how He will save His people. God did not pace back and forth with worry when the King of Egypt refused to let the people go. We will hear how God has a plan for our lives too; that nothing shocks or surprises God. He is all knowing  and all powerful. God has got this.

727

Exodus 5&6:1-8

This is part 5 in our Exodus series. I respect each families ages/stages of life so I have adapted some of this. Please go back and read the scriptures to include anything else that is right for your family.

Today, we hear Moses obey God's instructions to tell the king of Egypt to let His people go. The king of Egypt is upset with Moses' request and makes things even harder for the people. Even though this king seems all powerful, there is 1 who is much more powerful than him. We will learn how God is all powerful and He is in control even when things don't always make sense. God tells them that He will rescue His people.

#202A: Exodus part 4: Proof for Moses
728

Exodus 4: 1-21

If you missed the last episodes, I would encourage you to go back and listen. The stories will build upon themselves and you’ll better understand how we got to where we are in our story.

In today's story we hear Moses telling God he shouldn't be the 1 to help b/c he is not a good speaker.  God reminds Moses that He gave Moses his mouth and it is Him, God, who makes man able to speak. Again we hear that it’s not about us, what we can do, but it’s about God and what HE can do.  The children will hear how this applies to their very own lives.

#201A: Exodus part 3: The Great I Am
722

Exodus 3

Today, we continue our series in Exodus. This is part 3. Today's story will cover Moses seeing the burning bush & God telling Moses he will be used to go back to Egypt and rescue the people.  Wait until you hear Moses' response! I love that the Bible reminds us that the people in the Bible are real people, just like us. We will also learn that it's not about who we are but who God is.

I encourage you to go back and listen to the previous Exodus episodes as they will build upon one another. This will help the kids understand the full context as well.

#200A: Exodus part 2: God Hears you no Matter how you Feel
664

Exodus 2:11-25  I respect each family's ages/stages of life so I have adapted some of this. Please go back and read the scriptures yourself including what is appropriate for your family.

This is the 2nd episode in our series on Exodus. We begin with Moses now a grown man. Moses ends up taking matters into his own hands and ends up fleeing from his home.  Our story will teach us some more about Moses but our big take away will be that God heard the Israelites cries. God hears in ways which we can not. He hears us no matter how we feel, where we live, or how many of us are talking at once. We will learn how He heard their prayers just as He hears us when we pray to him.

I respect each families ages/stages of life so I have adapted some of this. PLEASE go back and read the scriptures including what is appropriate for your family.

In today's episode, we will  be introduced to Moses and what was happening to the Israelites during this time.  We will hear how God had a plan for Moses just like He has a plan for us.

#197A: Jesus Heals a Blind Man
572

 Mark 10: 46-52

We find Bartimaeus crying out to Jesus for help. The crowd tells Bartimaeus to be quiet. Who is he that Jesus would want to hear from him?!?! Jesus hears all of us when we call out to Him. Whether popular or outcast, whether we are calling out amongst a noisy crowd or sitting quietly in our room, Jesus hears us and listens just like He did for  Bartimaeus. The application section at the end helps the kids apply this story to their prayer life.

#196A: Who do YOU Say I am?
546

Matthew 16:13-19

Today, we hear Jesus asking his disciples who people say He is. Their response is interesting. We are reminded to go back to our Bibles to check if what others say about Jesus is actually true. Next, we hear Jesus ask," Who do YOU say I am?" This is an extremely important question!  The children will be encouraged to ask themselves who they say Jesus is and what He is like. I emphasis the importance of seeing if this lines up w/ what the Bible says and to discuss this w/ their family this week.

A. W. Tozer “What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us. “

#195 A: Jesus Feeds 5,000
814

Matthew 14:13-21 & John 6:1-15

Today we hear the miracle of Jesus feeding over 5,000 people with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish. The application section connects the dots that when Jesus wants us to do something, He’s already given us ALLL that we need to do it. The disciples were told to look at what they did have and use that! What didn’t make sense to them, made sense with God. What didn’t seem like enough, God could make it enough.

#194 A: Part 2 of THE CROSS: Why did Jesus Die?
714

COLOSSIANS 2:13-15

Recently, we celebrated Easter and since that time, parents have been sending in fantastic questions kids have had; many of them related to Easter. I am going to do my best to answer PART 2 of the more complex questions :Why Did Jesus Die?

We use a story about two children who disobey the rules and play ball in the house. This ends with a window being broken and the understanding that someone must cover the cost of this mistake. The children realize they can not fix such an expensive mistake and must be forgiven and helped by their parents. Though the parents were not the ones that broke the window,  out of love and their ability to have money, they are able to cover this cost.

We use this example and connect the dots to the Bible that:

1. Our sin is very serious.

2. No human & no amount of money can fix our sins. Jesus is the only one who can save us. He never sinned.

3. Jesus cleaned up the mess we made and absorbed the cost himself when he died on the cross.

4. We all sin and can ask Jesus to forgive us.

Resources for parents:

The Reason for God by Tim Keller. This is an adult book and covers many difficult questions which you can study and then teach your child on their level.

5 Truths About the Death of Jesus  This is an adult article from the Desiring God website. You will need to bring this down to a child's level but it is a good guide of what to begin covering with them.

The Garden, the Curtain, and the Cross Kids book that addresses sin and the cross.

# 193 A: Part 1 THE CROSS: What did Jesus save us from?
634

Romans 3:23 -24 & John 3:16

Recently, we celebrated Easter and since that time, Parents have been sending in fantastic questions kids have had, many of them related to Easter. Today, we are dong a special episode as I do my best to answer one of the more complex questions : What did Jesus Save us from.

****** I am including the link Desiring God here as a resource on how to discuss hell with your children.

Matthew 13: 1-3, 36, 44

Today we get to hear the parable of the man who finds treasure in the field. In his JOY he goes and sells all he has to buy that field.  Our apply section will connect the dots that Jesus is saying : when we see that being w/ him is like finding treasure hidden in a field, we rightly see that no toy or superhero compares to our savior Jesus.

Philippians 4:4-8

In today's story, we hear a letter from our friend Paul. He reminds us that when we feel nervous or anxious,  we should notice what we are thinking about. Sometimes our minds can run wild with crazy thoughts that just aren't true or good. Our feelings can lead us astray at times.

We will do something special today, and hear a short story about a girl named Kayleigh. Kayleigh is nervous about having to speak in front of her class BUT she remembers the Bible story her mom just read from Paul. Tune in to hear the story in action.

#187 A: The Cross is not the End of the Story (Easter #2)
804

John 18, John 19 ,Luke 23, & Matthew 27  (EASTER PART 2)

Parents, today we are going to be talking about the cross. I respect each families ages/ stages life so I have adapted some of this. Please go back and read the scriptures listed including what is appropriate for your family.

I will be talking about topics which you may not wish to discuss yet so please listen to this beforehand. We have done a younger version of this story which can be found on episode #96 called “he is Risen.” If you feel that is a better fit, please go listen to # 96 and save this one for when the time is right.

In today's story, we hear Jesus speaking with Pilate.  Pilate thought he was in control but Jesus reminds him of the truth. We are comforted remembering Jesus is always in control even when things can seem scary or confusing. We end w/ Jesus' death on the cross. The story connects the dots that Jesus' love doesn’t change or depend on what you do. If you ever wonder if He loves you, you can simply remember what happened on the cross.

We will pick up the rest of the story next week!

#186 A: Jesus Chose to for YOU (Easter #1)
786

Matthew 26 :36-56

Today begins our Easter series! I want to respect each listener's ages and levels of understanding, so I have adapted some of these for the needs of our audience. Please go back and read the scriptures yourselves to include what is appropriate for your family.

I will also encourage you to listen to all of the episodes in this Easter series in order, as the stories build upon themselves.

This story begins in the garden of Gethsemane and ends with Jesus being arrested. We remember that Jesus could have whispered 1 word and 100’s of angels would have appeared to rescue him BUT he didn’t do this. Why?

Because He chose to. He chose to obey God b/c he loves God the father!!!! God’s plan had been there all along to rescue us b/c he loves us that much!

The children will be reminded that Jesus is always in control and that He loves them very much!

Mark 5:35-43

This is part 2 in our short series. If you missed #184, please go back and listen so you understand the context better. Today, we hear Jesus going to the home of Jairus to heal his very sick girl. It seems like Jesus is too late but his timing is perfect even if it doesn't make sense to us.  We are reminded that Jesus sees all and knows all. Jesus does heal the child and lovingly calls her "little girl." We are reminded that we have a loving, protective, and kind Father in Jesus. We too are his little children.

In our story, Jesus asks who touched me. This seems like a silly question b/c Jesus knows everything. He has numbered the hairs on our head, He knows what you had for breakfast, and He knows what you are going to do tomorrow. He knows everything about everyone! #183 A: Jesus Loves me this I Know for the Bible Tells Me So
518

John 3:2, 16-19, 1John 3:1, & 1John 4:19

All of our readings have something in common....they speak of God's love for us. We are reminded of God's promises that hold true even when we do not feel it. The kids think about what having a bad day feels like and we discuss how feelings are important but sometimes, they can trick us to forget the truth. This is where we turn to our Bibles and remind ourselves the truth of just how much God loves us regardless of if the day we are having feels like a good one or a bad one.

Thanks for listening! I hope this helps facilitate good conversations between you and your children.

#182 A: All of This Could be yours IFFFFFFF
513

Luke 4:1-13

This week we will learn a different lesson from Jesus being tempted in the desert. This is part 2.

We hear the crafty devil tempting Jesus with power & fame. Jesus doesn’t fall for the lie. He knows true joy and happiness comes through God not things or status. He knows serving God is more important than power and fame.

The kids will be reminded that God made all kinds of good things we get to enjoy, but the problem comes when we want to have that thing way more than we want to love and worship God. Jesus is our example of how to handle these temptations.

#181A: You have nothing to Prove
486

Luke 4:1-13

This is part 1 in our short series where we find Jesus being tempted in the desert by the devil. We will learn that  the devil is always a slick and slimy one trying to twist God's words. The devil tries to tempt Jesus into proving that He really is God's son. Of course Jesus is God's son! Jesus knows this truth and does not need to prove anything to the devil so He does not fall for it. We learn that we too can remember the truth of whose we are: we are loved children of God. We apply this truth to help us w/ pride or the feeling to prove ourselves.

#150A: Obeying isn't Always Easy
582

Joshua 6:1-21

We hear God telling Joshua to knock down the strong wall of Jericho using......the sound of trumpets?! HUH? I wonder if Joshua thought this request a little odd. God asked Joshua to do something ..that may have seemed almost impossible. Maybe it wasn’t easy for him to obey b/c of this. We will hear if Joshua ends up trusting God and obeying even when it doesn’t make sense.

We will apply this to how we should obey God and identify it there are others God has put in charge of us; people like mom, step-dad, or grandma who love us very much and protect us, who we should obey as well.

God is a wonderful Creator! Today's story reminds us to rejoice and be grateful for the big things and little things He has made. What a loving Creator we have who made something as simple as laughing. We are reminded that the beautiful creation can point us back to our Creator and with glad hearts, we can thank Him and marvel at Him.

Galatians 5:16-22

Another school year has begun & with it comes more interactions with other children, families, and teachers. It is an opportunity to display Christ to others.  Whether you are in a building, at home, or doing school outdoors, the kids can listen to this story and reflect on their actions. What does the Bible teach us about how we should talk and act? For this, we will hear Paul writing about the Fruits of the Spirit.

728

Exodus 4: 1-21

If you missed the last episodes, I would encourage you to go back starting at # 138 .

750

#137A: Heaven
911

Heaven...what will it be like? No one knows all of the answers to this but we will use what the Bible tells us about it through John's experience. Today's story will cover these parts of heaven:

1. God will be with us

2. Everyone and everything will live in perfect peace

3.There will be no sickness or hurting

4. There will be no more pain; all the pain/sadness we've felt on Earth will be undone and repaired.

I respect each families ages and stages of life so, I have chosen specific scriptures for this. Please go back and read them for yourself, including anything you feel is appropriate for your family.

#136A: The Good Samaritan
636

Luke 10:25-37

A man asks Jesus to explain who his neighbor is. Jesus then tells the story of 3 men who passed by a hurt man but only 1 of them helped him. Only 1 of them treated the hurt man as his neighbor. We learn what the Bible means when it says you must love your neighbor as you love yourself. Our story shows us it matters WHO we are. Are we people who will help others and obey Jesus or will we only do so if it's the right person, place and time to do so.

The apply section will help the children connect the dots and apply this in their own lives.

Ephesians 2:1-10

This is part 1 in our short series, Saved by Grace. The kids learn the definition of grace and are presented with the truth that  NONE of us earn God's love or forgiveness; rather it is a gift. We apply this to their own lives using the analogy of getting a gift.

Matthew 28

HAPPY EASTER! Today we will pick up our story after Jesus was placed in the tomb. The story reminds us of the HOPE & TRUTH  we have:

1. That all power in heaven and on earth has been given to Him.

2. He is with us not sometimes, not when we are in a specific building or situation, BUT that HE is with us ALWAYS!

The kids will hear how this story applies to their own lives; whether it's at school or basketball practice. They will hear why we shouldn't judge others on outward appearances. Psalm 19:1-6 & Isaiah 40: 25-29

Today's story reminds us why it's important to stop and take in the wonders God has created around us. They are true miracles that can point us back to Him, the Creator. You children are usually very good at this. You  enjoy asking, "but why? Why do the leaves change color, why is the sky blue?" Even when we answer your questions with scientific words and terms we've made to describe what happens in nature, it does not take away the miracle behind how nature works. So kids, be curious; enjoy stopping and staring, and let what you learn make you marvel at how incredible our Creator is.

#117A: Samson
1294

This episode was a special request from some of our listeners. This will also be longer than our typical episode to fit in the context of the story. Today, we get to hear the classic story of strong Samson. What will Samson do when he loses his strength  because of his hair cut?!?!? We will hear how mighty Samson was faithful & cried out to God for help!  Even though Samson sinned, God still used him and forgave him.

***NOTE TO PARENTS: I want to respect what you feel is appropriate for your children at their individual stage and age of life. I also have a variety of age ranges that listen. Because of this, I have left out some of Samson's events. Please go back and read Judges 13-16 and feel free to discuss  this in more length with your children if you feel it is appropriate. *****

#116A: Don't Believe Everything you Feel
812

In today's story, we hear a letter from our friend Paul. He reminds us that when we feel nervous or anxious,  we should notice what we are thinking about. Sometimes our minds can run wild with crazy thoughts that just aren't true or good. Our feelings can lead us astray at times.

We will do something special today, and hear a short story about a girl named Kayleigh. Kayleigh is nervous about having to speak in front of her class BUT she remembers the Bible story her and her mom just read from Paul. Tune in to see the story in action.

Exodus 19:16-20 & 20:1-17

Today we get to learn about the 10 commandments. Did you know that commandments are like rules? I'm sure you even have rules in your very own home.

In today's story, we will hear how God made rules because he loves us. Sometimes, we can hear rules and be frustrated because we think they aren't letting us have any fun. But with God's rules, that's just not true. These rules help keep us safe, close to Him, and live a joyful life. We will hear an example of what this means in today's story.

#114A: Just Because Things are Hard Does NOT Mean Jesus is Not There
532

Mark 4:35- 41 & John 16:33

Today we hear how Jesus' friends were scared during the storm. With the wind and waves tossing them about, their boat could sink! They were terrified. Even during this scary circumstance, Jesus was there. He had not left them.

Sometimes we get it confused and think Jesus is only around when we are winning all of our sports games and eating cupcakes all day. That's just not true. Jesus tells us that we will have troubles but to take heart, b/c He has overcome the World. John 16:33

Tune in to hear how God is with you each and every day NOT just on the good days.

#112A Part 2: What if David Had a Bad Attitude?
596

Today we get to play "what if" with David. David had already been anointed to be the next King yet he was still cheerful in obeying the every day, ordinary tasks. Tasks that would have seemed to be far beneath a king. When David woke up that morning, he didn't know he was going to be battling Goliath! There was opportunity for him in the ordinary. IF David had done just a few things differently, he may not have ended up fighting Goliath, saving his people, and glorifying God. David's attitude towards the ordinary helped him be ready for the opportunity to beat Goliath.

#101A: Ruth part 3
637

We are continuing our series on Ruth. This comes from Ruth chapter 3. Boaz tells us all of the wonderful things he notices about Ruth. The words he uses to describe her are the same ones used to describe other bible heroes. She is bold, courageous, kind,  & virtuous. We leave the story in suspense wondering if Boaz or the mystery relative will marry Ruth and help her. Who will it be?!?!?!

In the apply section, your children will have the opportunity to discuss ways they can act like Ruth. They will also be called to notice others who have good character like Ruth.

Proverbs 22:1 "A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold." - We see Ruth and Boaz live this out. Both desire obeying God above all else and they do not cut corners.

We are learning that Jesus' love is a GIFT....it can not be earned. I hope this helps their little hearts prepare for Easter and grasp how perfect HIS love if for them.

Today, we get to hear how God created the sea creatures and the birds of the sky. Have you ever stopped to look at these incredible animals? Aren't they beautiful and unique?!? When we take a moment to see the beauty of them, we are reminded of how loving God is. He did not have to make these animals. Imagine how boring the World would be if we didn't have birds that sang or dolphins to watch swim and jump. God is so kind and creative to have made these animals and allow us to enjoy them. I hope you enjoy listening to day 5!
