Episode 231 - The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks Retrospective and More With The Gossip Stones!
01:04:46

Hello everyone! Al here. Andy is on vacation this week, so I'm taking over! I'm joined by Judy Calder of Gossip Stones fame, and we decided to take this opportunity to give good ol' Spirit Tracks the love it deserves in a deep-dive retrospective. But that's not all! We also chat about the recent Direct, what we're personally looking forward to from all the titles that were showcased, and of course, we shared our thoughts and feelings on the Zelda series' latest title; Tears of the Kingdom!

Some of us may go on vacation, but the podcast on all things Zelda never rests!

Episode 229 - Picking Our Favorite Zelda (or Smash Bros.?) Character in Fall Brawl 4!
01:21:49

It's that time of year again! That's right - IT'S FALL BRAAAWL! You know the drill by now - 64 characters face off in a single elimination popularity contest until only one remains, BUT there's a catch this year: half the field are Super Smash Bros. characters! As we do every year, we go through the tournament match by match and pick our favorites until we arrive at one winner! Zelda Cast Social Media Manager Jules Gia is getting in on the action with us this week, and you can get in on the action yourself by filling out a bracket! Check out the full contest details here!

We pick a winner, PLUS touch on those Nintendo Direct rumors! You won't wanna miss this one!

Episode 228 - Zelda’s Percentages: Breath of the Wild 2 Edition!
01:11:36

Welcome back to another episode of ZELDA'S PERCENTAGES! The premise is simple: we read off a statement and then assign a probability of said statement coming true! This week, however, we're putting a bit of a twist on the gimmick by inviting our friend and Zelda Dungeon social media manager McKenna Krebs on the show and using her blog, zeldaisthegirl.com, as inspiration for our questions! Based on FOUR YEARS of wishlist's, we go through, read off, and assign a percentage to everything McKenna hopes to see in Breath of the Wild 2! Swimming and diving? Repairable weapons? The accordion as a musical instrument? A rebuilt Hyrule? More involvement from the new Champions? The Minish making a return? And of course, the million dollar question: is Princess Zelda a playable character?

All this and more, PLUS, we are announcing the winner of the Blossom Tales II giveaway! Make sure to check out McKenna's blog for more content and thoughts on Breath of the Wild 2!

Episode 227 - Reviewing Blossom Tales II: The Minotaur Prince!
01:14:30

What's going on friends!? This week, we are diving head first into one of our most anticipated Zelda-like games in the last several years: Blossom Tales II: The Minotaur Prince! We were big fans of the first, so we had really high hopes for this sequel, and for the most part, it delivers! Come listen as we dissect the dungeons of the game, praise the overworld, review the items, and ask about the future of the Blossom Tales series as it now finds itself at a cross roads: either lean into being a Zelda clone even more, or start to forge its own identity. Come listen, and if you want to read Andy's written review, check that out here!

That's not all though! We are giving away a copy of Blossom Tales II to one lucky listener! Head here for contest details (FYI: it's as easy as like and retweet!).

Episode 226 - Ranking the Best NON-CASTLE Final Dungeons in the Series!
01:08:09

A couple weeks ago, we ranked every version of Hyrule Castle/Ganon's Tower/Final Dungeon's that took place inside of a castle, and head a really engaging discussion about what constitutes a great final castle dungeon. This week, by popular demand, we're taking that and asking what makes a great final dungeon that's NOT set in a castle, and trust us when we say this was a lot harder than it seemed. Does flow into the final boss count for a lot? Should the area be somewhere unique, not seen before? How much can presentation make up for lack of puzzles?

We discuss all this and more, PLUS some fierce debate on how to make chili and some quick Blossom Tales II talk!

Episode 225 - Grading Every Outfit in Breath of the Wild!
01:07:22

Another week has crept away with no Breath of the Wild 2 news, but fret not: we're here to talk about a part of Breath of the Wild that we haven't explored yet: fashion! Well, fashion, stats, practicality, etc... Yes, that's right, we are here today to bust our best Blue Steel and critique all of Link's outfits in Breath of the Wild! Which armor set do we have a soft spot for? Which ones are the bottom of the barrel? Are our opinions of the Tunic of the Wild controversial, or do more Zelda fans agree with us? Can Andy convince Al that the Tingle Suit is S-tier? Maybe most importantly, who thought it was a good idea to take Rex's, of all characters, outfit from Xenoblade and slap it into Breath of the Wild!??

All this, PLUS some Summer of Metroid Madness talk and a brief couple of movie reviews. Come hang with us, and make your own outfit tier ranking here!

Episode 224 - Ranking the Best Final Castles in the Series!
01:16:35

What's up Zelda fans! This week, Andy and Al are taking a trip through the series to discuss and rank all of the best FINAL CASTLES (and Towers... and Palaces... and-) in the series! About half the games feature some kind of version of Hyrule Castle / Ganon's Tower / Some kind of equivalent, so we're breaking down which one is the cream of the crop! What's the right length for a final castle? Can a dungeon lack charisma? Is re-fighting the same bosses from earlier dungeons at the end of the game ever a good idea? And most importantly, when Andy and Al reach a standstill about where one particular castle should be ranked, who breaks first!?

All this and more, PLUS some terrible coffee stories and technical bloopers aplenty to laugh at (make sure to stick around to the very end!), so make sure you come join us! Also, check out Zelda & Chill 2 for that sweet Hyrule Castle beat!

Episode 223 - Zelda Dungeon Marathon Q&A!
01:18:04

It's our first show since returning from the 2022 Zelda Dungeon Marathon, and this week, Andy and Al don't have a show topic per-say, but rather, are just sitting down and catching up! They go over some of the games they played at the Marathon, tell some stories about the event, discuss some recent happenings in the video game world, debate whether we'll see Breath of the Wild 2 at the 2023 Marathon, and answer some fan questions about the event and Zelda in general.

Come catch up with friends, and make sure to check out the Q&A Spiteri Show tweet to ask some podcast questions!

Episode 221 - Talking All Things Zelda with Another Zelda Podcast!
01:03:24

The biggest crossover event in the history of Zelda podcasts is here! Live and in person from the Zelda Dungeon Marathon, Andy and Al sit down with the host and director of Another Zelda Podcast, David Geisler! Over the years, the Champions’ Cast, later the Zelda Cast, has developed a ton of running gags, jokes, and “-isms”, and we asked David to weigh in with his thoughts! Is Twilight Princess really that ugly? Is Satori Mountain really that cool? Is the Monk Maz Koshia theme rally a banger? Is loving the Tingle DS games as much as Andy does really normal?? All this and so much more from the Marathon, as the two biggest Zelda podcasts in the world finally collide!

… but that’s not all! The crossover event continues! Look for a future episode of Another Zelda Podcast to feature Andy and Al!

You can check out Another Zelda Podcast here, so make sure to give them some love by following, subscribing, and rating!

Episode 220 - Which Mini-Bosses Are Cooler Than Their Dungeon’s Final Bosses?
01:05:04

Welcome back for another week of the freshest Zelda podcast around! Today, Andy and Al are taking a look over the series and trying to identify which dungeons mini-bosses are actually way cooler than the final boss of the dungeon. Dark Link? Yeah, way cooler than Morpha. Dangoro? Fyrus doesn't even come close to matching that fight. On and on, until we have a definitive list of ultra cool mini-bosses, some of which may surprise you. Plus, we give some love to some honorable mentions - mini-bosses that may not eclipse the final boss, but maybe reach the same level.

All this PLUS a tooon of Zelda Dungeon Marathon talk! We detail what games we're playing, the new Zelda Cast merch, world record attempts, and... A Link to the Past using DDR pads to move?? You don't want to miss out!

Episode 219 - Discussing The Best and The Worst Zelda Intro’s
01:32:32

Strap in for a long show, because this week Andy and Al are talking about the INTRO’S to each Zelda game! Shamelessly stealing from our frenemies the Tier Force Heroes, we go through game by game and assign a tier ranking to the into of each game. What even constitutes as an intro? What goals should a great intro accomplish? Are we giving any leeway for game manuals? How can we love the long intro to one game and not the other? Maybe most pressingly – how long can Andy rant about herding goats?

All this, PLUS some Zelda Dungeon Marathon hype, new merch, and Twilight Princess stream talk! Come weight in with us and tell us what you think about our list!

Episode 218 - The Zelda Timeline, Demise Returning, Unbreakable Weapons and More Questions Answered
01:13:53

After a week off sick, the gang are back together to answer your fan submitted questions! We asked you to head to Twitter and give us questions, and you delivered big time! Has the fervor around the Zelda timeline died out in recent years? Is there any way the corpse shown in the sequel trailer is Demise? Are the days of new, top down Zelda games over? What’s a way to mix breakable weapons and classic Zelda items? What were the biggest lessons Breath of the Wild taught Nintendo about what fans want out of Zelda? Is a Zelda Shrine maker more practical than a Zelda Dungeon maker?

All this and so much more, PLUS some Covid stories, real world talk, and Nintendo Direct chatter. Come hang with us!

Episode 216 - Zelda’s Percentages: What Are The Odds Of These Statements Coming True?
01:03:43

Good day, good day, and welcome to yet another show where we still don't know anything about Breath of the Wild 2 or when the next Nintendo Direct might be. It's not all bad news though, as this week, we participated in Linktober's Zelda Creator Con and had a really fun show, debuting a new segment called Zelda's Percentages. The premise is simple: we read a statement and then assign a percentage on the likelihood of it coming true or not! Does the sequel sell less than half of the original Breath of the Wild? Is there any way that corpse isn't Ganondorf? Is Zelda next in line for a movie? Are we paying full price each for The Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD?

All this and more, plus a little movie talk! Come and hang out with us on this rainy Monday!

Episode 215 - Breath of the Wild 2 Will Finally Be Fully Revealed and Other Nintendo Direct Predictions!
01:04:23

Welcome to the Zelda Cast! This week, we are laying down some heavy predictions for the as-of-yet unannounced Nintendo Direct that we're presuming will slot in the usual E3 time frame (if E3 was happening this year, that is). Andy and Al argue about whether or not it's finally time for Nintendo to pull the lid back on Breath of the Wild 2 and completely show us what this game is all about, plus, have differing opinions as to if any ports of classic Zelda games will get revealed or not. Plus, is it finally time to get a glance at Metroid Prime 4? How about the long rumored Super Mario Odyssey 2? And what kind of presence will Mario Kart have? New courses only, or maybe more?

All this, PLUS predictions about Donkey Kong Country, Xenoblade, Advance Wars, My Time in Portia, Goldeneye, and more! Let us know what you think of our predictions on Twitter and who you think will come out on top!

The Champions’ Cast Is Getting A New Name: The Zelda Cast!
03:54

To everyone that's been following the Zelda Dungeon podcast for the last four an a half years, we've got some news for you: the podcast will be undergoing a name change! Four and a half years ago when I decided I wanted to revive the Zelda Informer Podcast (that's going waaay back!), the hip and happening thing in the Zelda world was The Champions' Ballad, the last piece of downloadable content for Breath of the Wild. Wanting to play on that name, The Champions' Cast was born! For over four years, we've podcasted weekly about all things Zelda, from Breath of the Wild to Ocarina of Time to Wand of Gamelon to Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland to literally anything even kind of associated with The Legend of Zelda. With that in mind, we thought it was fitting that with the upcoming Breath of the Wild 2 around the corner, we establish a name that better represents what our show is all about: The Zelda Cast!

So what does this mean for longtime listeners of the show? Are there any earth shattering changes you should expect? In a word: nope! All that will change is the name and the logo of the show (which I have to admit, I've wanted to do for a while. I love me some blue, but when I think Zelda, I think the color green. Is that just me?). You'll still get weekly episodes, you'll still hear Al and I on our grind every week, you'll still have episodes download automatically if you're subscribed. There's no change!

One new thing is that the podcast is now on Twitter! We plan on having lots of show clips and other discussion points, so make sure to give us a follow: @TheZeldaCast. We're also planning on live streaming EVERY SHOW on Twitch going forward, @TheZeldaCast, so make sure you're following to check out the podcast in real time! Furthermore, new merch will be available soon!

Check out all of our existing social media and podcast channels and make sure you're following and subscribing (you can even advertise on the show!). Thank you for all the support and we can't wait to keep bringing you weekly Zelda content!

Episode 214 - Would A Playable Princess Zelda Make Breath of the Wild 2 Worth The Wait?
01:03:05

Recently, we ran a staff feature asking our writing staff what one specific thing Breath of the Wild 2 could do that would make the 6 year development time worth the wait. Answers varied from having a playable Princess Zelda to introducing a Dark World to featuring underwater exploration to an emphasis on Malice and its origins and much, much more, so this week, Andy and Al dissect each answer and react and give their own analysis on how likely our staffs wishes are.

Come hang out with us, as we're also talking Star Wars, Stranger Things, Avatar, and a big announcement coming in a few weeks!

Episode 213 - Tri Force Heroes Q&A: Is This The Worst Zelda Game and More Questions Answered
01:12:46

If you've listened to the Champions' Cast even a little, you probably know that The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes is Andy's least favorite Zelda game, so this week, we asked YOU to send us questions about the 3DS title for us to unpack. In addition to explaining why Andy thinks Tri Force Heroes is a bad Zelda game, the gang answer questions like what did they think of the totem mechanic, what their favorite outfit from the game was, if Lady Maud is an underrated villain, what their opinion on the music is, what could have been improved in the online play, and thoughts on playing solo versus with friends.

You won't want to miss this show, as we cover all this PLUS weigh in on the Mysplaced / Link's Awakening controversy. Come enjoy a holiday Monday (well, for us Canadians anyway!) with us!

Episode 212 - Interviewing Tunic’s Lead Developer Andrew Shouldice
01:04:28

We’ve got a special show for you this week as we catch up with Andrew Shouldice, the lead developer of Tunic, a game we called on this very show “maybe the best Zelda-like game we’ve ever played”. We pick Andrew’s brain about the origins of Tunic, how the project started, how he met his collaborators, the state of Canadian indie developers, what other games inspired Tunic, the manual concept and where that was born, his reaction to the positive reception, what his gaming backlog looks like, and if there’s a chance we see the little Fox back in action again someday.

If you haven’t played Tunic, check out our review and listen to our podcast episode and believe us when we say it’s one of the best Inspired By Zelda games you’ll play.

… PLUS, get ready for a special treat next week, as we are taking YOUR questions about Andy’s least favorite Zelda game: Tri Force Heroes! Submit your questions for next weeks Tri Force Heroes Q&A show on Twitter or Discord!

Episode 210 - Daily Debate Roundtable!
01:05:05

With absolutely nothing going on in the world of Zelda, Andy and Al spend this week answering some of the Daily Debates the Zelda Dungeon Writing Team have come up with, and the conversation is fantastic! How long is too long to wait for a sequel? Does that Breath of the Wild 2 footage look a little too good for the Switch? How are choosing as our party if we can pick any Zelda NPC's to back us up in a RPG? What unique dungeon theme should be revisited in the future? What would be the spot in the Zelda world we would just like to chill out in?

All this and a ton of other questions answered in a light and breezy show this week! Don't miss out!

Episode 209 - Tunic Review: Is Tunic the Best Zelda-Like Game Ever?
01:11:21

You know how much we love us a good Zelda-like game, and with Breath of the Wild 2 being delayed, there was no better time for arguably the greatest ever Zelda-like game to grace our consoles: Tunic! The cute adventure of a little fox on a lonely island wears its inspiration on its sleeve and offers an incredibly dense, challenging, fun, at times obtuse, nostalgic adventure all at the same time. The gang are joined by Rod Lloyd, who penned the official Zelda Dungeon review of Tunic, to discuss anything and everything about the game!

Tunic is available on Steam and Xbox right now, and we couldn't recommend it enough! We'd love to hear your thoughts on this touching adventure, so let us know what you think!

Episode 208 - Examining the Gimmick of Every Zelda Game
01:07:50

A good or bad gimmick can elevate or detract from a game, and the Zelda series is unique in that every single game has a distinct, unique gimmick associated with it that makes them ripe for examination! This week, we're diving in and discussing what's worked and what needed improvement over the years with Zelda gimmicks; Dual worlds are a favorite staple, but maybe stylus or motion controls weren't for everybody. Transforming via masks was likewise awesome, so why did transforming into a wolf fall flat? How can one multiplayer Zelda game have one of the best gimmicks in the series while another has the absolute worst?

All this is discussed in this box-of-gimmicks retrospective, PLUS, we hypothesize on what Breath of the Wild 2's gimmick might end up being; spoiler - it's a gimmick we've seen before! Come hang out with us!

Episode 207 - Ranking Every Zelda-Themed Smash Bros. Stage
01:02:23

Get ready to rumble, because this week the gang are talking a little Smash and a little Zelda, and specifically, what the best stages to play on are. Is Temple still the favorite and what makes it such an elite stage? Are Bridge of Eldin and Gerudo Valley just a little too boring to be great? Is N64's Hyrule Castle "Zelda" enough? Was Breath of the Wild's representation in Smash Ultimate below average? Why dies 2D Zelda get no love at all in the fighting series? And what stages would we have picked if we were in charge of making those decisions?

All this, PLUS some followup from last weeks Breath of the Wild 2 delay. You won't wanna miss this episode!

Episode 206 - Breath of the Wild 2 Delayed: Our Reactions
01:03:58

With last weeks disappointing yet somewhat expected announcement of the delay of Breath of the Wild's sequel, the gang get together to discuss their thoughts and reactions. Is this the most disappointing Zelda delay yet? Are Nintendo just saving this game for new hardware? Is there something deeply flawed with Nintendo's developmental process? What was up with that busted Master Sword in the trailer? And maybe most importantly, how fresh did Aonuma-san look with his fresh hair cut?!

All this and more discussion, including thoughts on E3's cancellation. Come hang out with us this week and let us know your thoughts on Breath of the Wild 2's delay!

Episode 205 - Zelda II: Adventure of Link Q&A!
01:09:30

This week, we're giving some love to an often overlooked and underappreciated game in The Legend of Zelda: Adventure of Link! Okay, maybe it's not all love, but we do answer all of your questions about the game and come away with some really engaging discussion! What're our favorite spells? Did the XP system help or hurt the game? What were our favorite bosses? Did we like the random encounters on the overworld? Did the lack of map hurt this game? What are the biggest redeeming factors of this game? How did Adventure of Link inspire the Zelda series, both in terms of what to do and what not to do?

All this and so much more! Come and hang with us as we go way back to finally give the black sheep of the series its day in the sun!

Episode 203 - Picking Our Favorite Zelda Song for Musical March Madness 2022
01:19:54

It's that time of year again where MUSICAL MARCH MADNESS makes its triumphant return! As in years past, the gang go through the bracket and decide each matchup until the field of 64 has been whittled down to just one final champion. Some of our picks this year were surprising even to us, to make sure to tune in, as we also discuss whether we should vote for past winners or let new songs win, the dichotomy of some of the worst games having some of the best music, and our most overrated Zelda song!

Come listen and don't forget to play along with us this year for the fourth annual Musical March Madness.

Episode 199 - Breath of the Wild 2 No-Shows an Otherwise Terrific Nintendo Direct
01:09:32

We finally got a Nintendo Direct, and while it was mostly awesome, the absence of Breath of the Wild 2 loomed large over the proceedings. We break down what exactly we think is going on with that game and when we think it will be fully revealed, and then spend some time breaking down the rest of the games shown off. Splatoon 3, Triangle Strategy, Advance Wars all look awesome, and the new titles revealed like Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Fire Emblem Warriors 2, and Nintendo Switch Sports also look really promising. Throw in a free update for Metroid Dread and DLC for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and we had a mostly good time!

Episode 195 - Princess Mononoke and its Influence on Breath of the Wild
01:13:36

We're back for another week with a very special episode, one that we've been looking forward to for a while: analyzing the world, characters, and themes of Studio Ghibli's 1997 masterpiece Princess Mononoke and seeing how that movie made a lasting impressing on the Zelda series, and Breath of the Wild in particular. We compare Link and Ashitaka, Zelda and San, Lady Eboshi and the citizens of Irontown to the fabled Sheikah clan, analyze the similar themes of nature versus technology, and even look to the plot of Princess Mononoke to deduce where we might be headed in Breath of the Wild 2.

Come get sweat away with us, and PLUS - we reveal our big episode 200 plans! Come and hang out, and if you haven't ever seen it, or maybe it's been a while, do yourself a favor and watch Princess Mononoke this week!

What Nintendo IP would we sacrifice to bring another IP back from the dead? What old Zelda bosses should make a comeback? Will there be a Breath of the Wild 3?

Are hopes for a mobile Zelda game officially dead? Is Minish Cap headed to Switch in 2022? And what did Mario and Covid do to throw our Zelda 35 expectations out of whack?

Episode 187 - Playing Zelda-Themed ”Would You Rather...”
01:14:20

Another week goes by, another week with no Zelda news. In order to pas the time and entertain ourselves, Andy and Al are joined by Gooey Fame to answer some Zelda-themed "would you rather" questions. Would we rather see a live action or animated Zelda movie? Would we rather hang out at Telma's Bar or the Lofty Pumpkin? Would we rather every new Zelda game play like Tri Force Heroes or look like Twilight Princess? Would we rather work for Beedle or Tingle? Would we rather have the Spinner in real life or the Master Cycle Zero?

All this and so many more questions, some goofy, some serious! PLUS, we chat a little wrestling and Zelda animated cartoon!

01:11:57

The second batch of DLC for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, called Guardian of Remembrance, dropped last month, promising new vignettes, playable characters, stages, abilities, and more. Was the DLC a smashing success? Well, not exactly. This week, come listen to the gang as they lay out their problems with Age of Calamity's story, discuss the new playable characters, go over the missions and where they fell short, ponder the timing of introducing ultimate weapons, and wonder out loud "what was the point of it all"?

Don't forget to participate in next week's show by asking us a Zelda-themed Would You Rather question on either Discord, Facebook, or Twitter!

Episode 184 - Playing Guess That Zelda Dungeon in 10 Questions
01:14:06

With another slow news week in the world of Zelda rolling on by, we decided to pass the time by bringing back an old favorite: Guess That Zelda ____! This time, we've decided to try and stump each other by picking some of the dungeons (and mini-dungeons) of the series. Joined by our own Skull Kid Nico, we activate what we're calling Fusion Difficulty (thanks Metroid!) and limiting ourselves to only 10 questions instead of the usual 16 to get it right. Think you can beat us? Come play along!

Epiode 183 - Majora‘s Mask Q&A!
01:17:46

Buckle in, because we have an action packed show for you today! We asked you to give us your best Majora's Mask questions and as usually, you did not disappoint! What would a Rito transformation mask have looked like? Is there any reason to ever come back to Termina? Where does Skull Kid rank on the list on non-Ganon Zelda villains? What do we make of the "Link is dead" theory? What's a sidequest that could have been improved? Which Majora's Mask characters are better than their Ocarina of Time counter parts and vice versa? Should Zelda ever tackle the themes of grief and loss as head on as this game does ever again?

All this, PLUS hear our thoughts on the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass pricing model, what we think about Sora being the final Smash Bros. character, just what the heck Captain N is, and chatter about Pokémon cards. Come hang with us!

Episode 182 - Examining The Intertwined Histories of Zelda and Metroid
01:25:45

So, full disclosure: this is more an episode about Metroid from a Zelda fans perspective than an episode about Zelda itself, so if you're looking for in depth Zelda, come back next week (when, by the way, we're answering Majora's Mask questions, so if you have any, make sure to ask us on Discord!).

This week, we're celebrating the release of Metroid Dread by looking back and examining why it is that Zelda took off as a series and Metroid hit a stalemate, while then comparing the 35th anniversaries of both series and asking which got the better deal. PLUS, Alasyn finally played Super Metroid as part of her losing an E3 bet, so she shares her first time experiences and talks about the bosses, the Baby Metroid, the controls, the concept of a Metroidvania, and... Phantom Hourglass's Temple of the Ocean King??

Come hang with us, and if you've never played a Metroid game, consider trying Dread!

01:19:56

Gather round the fire and prepare to be enraged as the gang gets together and debates which Zelda games have the best OST's. We're tackling a bunch of different topics that were a lot of fun, including: does one great song redeem the Spirit Tracks OST? How has our opinions on Breath of the Wild's ambient music changed over the years? Is the music of Tri Force Heroes its one redeemable quality? Which Zelda game gets the S-Tier crown? Can Andy convince everyone that The Minish Cap has a A-Tier worthy soundtrack? All this and more musical madness as The Champions' Cast Facebook Coordinator Jules Gia makes her podcast debut!

PLUS, we're talking about the TGS footage of Age of Calamity, Zelda tattoos, Metroid Dread, and more! Come hang!

Come listen as we break down and react to the announcements, including our thoughts on the Mario movie and casting voice actors versus celebrities, if you should be mad that Nintendo 64 games coming to NSO will cost you more money, Andy's scathing rant on Kirby, and of course, the latest snippet of DLC we got for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity.

We go over all seven dungeons, discussing in great detail the bosses, the items, the music, the aesthetic, and puzzles, and more! We had wildly different rankings, so there was some hard bargaining too! Come tell us what you think of our list, and make sure to let us know what your faves are!

Episode 172 - Definitively Ranking Skyward Sword
01:10:43

Alasyn returns this week to join Andy in one of their absolute favorite activities: definitive rankings! Borrowing the concept from their Hyrule Compendium pals, definitive ranking entails taking the ten categories that really make up a Zelda game - the world, the art style, the story, the music, the dungeons, the bosses, the items, the pacing, the extras, and the gameplay - and ranking it from 1 to 5. Where does Skyward Sword fall on our list? Come listen to find out!

01:02:51

We're still coming down from the high of last week's Nintendo Direct, where we finally got to see new footage from the sequel to Breath of the Wild, so this week, we tried to put our thinking caps on and really break down what we saw. Episode 163 - Will Breath of the Wild 2 Be Show at E3 2021 and Other E3 Predictions
01:04:25

It seems like forever since the last time we got to say this, but it's E3 Predictions time! Of course, the million dollar question for Zelda fans and Nintendo fans everywhere is after two long years will we finally see Breath of the Wild 2?! The gang disagree on that, but that's not all we're putting money on the table for. Will there be new Zelda amiibo? What's going on with the Age of Calamity DLC, Pulse of the Ancients? Have we seen everything there is to see in Skyward Sword HD, or is there more to be revealed? What new character might join the Smash Ultimate roster? Could we see the reveal of the Switch Pro? And what else might Nintendo have planned beyond Zelda?

Come predict with us and tell us if you're #TeamAndy or #TeamAlasyn on the Breath of the Wild 2 debate!

Episode 160 - Discussing Our Favorite Versions of Princess Zelda
01:10:12

Another week in the bags as we get closer and closer to E3 and (hopefully) Zelda's return. To help pass the time, we are talking about a different Zelda this week... or actually, a bunch of them! Andy and Alasyn are discussing all of the different appearances of Princess Zelda over the years and which ones they liked and disliked. Everything from the character design to the story to the character arcs and everything else are on the table here, so make sure you check it out and weight in on your favorite versions of Zelda. Unsurprisingly, Andy has an particularly harsh opinion of one of the series' most beloved incarnations of Zelda, so you'll definitely want to check this out!

All this, PLUS some TV talk! House of Cards, The Expanse, Castlevania, and more! Come hang with us!

Episode 159 - Definitively Ranking Every Boss/Mini-Boss from Ocarina of Time
01:10:35

Welcome back to another DEFINITIVE RANKING. This time around, we're talking the bosses (and mini-bosses!) of Andy's favorite game, Ocarina of Time! With no fewer than 16 (woo!) creatures to rank, the gang has some pretty dastardly conversation about which bosses rule, and which bosses are a little average. Is steak more important than sizzle in a boss fight? And can Andy and Al compromise to determine the greatest fight in the game? We'll see!

Ganondorf, Dark Link, Bongo Bongo, Dead Hands, Twinrova and SO MUCH MORE! Come tell us what you think about our rankings, and of course, let us know where you stand!

Episode 158 - Thought Experimenting the Biggest "What If" Scenario's in Zelda History
01:02:12

Imagine if certain things had turned out differently in the history of Zelda, if just a couple changes had been made in the "real world timeline", how different the Zelda series might look today? It's kind of a mindbend, thinking about how history might look completely different, so this week, the gang goes full bore into the thought experiments to speculate and hypothesize what would have happened if certain things had been different over the years. What if Skyward Sword's E3 demo worked? Would Zelda fans like it more? What if Breath of the Wild had come out for Wii U as intended? Would it have saved that console or doomed the Switch? What if The Wind Waker had used the Spaceworld graphical style? What if the 80's cartoon had more heavily influenced the series going forward?

All these questions discussed and so much more! Come play along with us and let us know YOUR biggest "What If" questions!

01:21:27

Another week, another Legend of Zelda game specific Q&A! This week, we asked our community on Discord and Facebook to ask us anything they wanted to about one of the most overlooked games in the franchise: A Link Between Worlds!

Cody Davies of Zelda Universe joins the gang this week to tackle topics like our thoughts on the rental system, was the map too similar to A Link to the Past, who was our favorite Sage, what did we think of the big twist at the end, how much time did we spend in the Milk Bar, and so much more!

Episode 156 - Is Breath of the Wild 2 Losing Hype, Ilia as a Love Interest, E3 is Back, and More Daily Debates Answered
01:04:07

This week for the show, we do what we always do when there's nothing particularly pressing to talk about: steal the great ideas of our Zelda Dungeon writing team and answer some of their Daily Debates! Tune in and hear our two cents on topics like: is Breath of the Wild 2 losing anticipation? Which Zelda game offers the most replay value? Should the series introduce post game content? Would we name a kid after a Zelda character? Which game do we wish we could experience again for the first time? And Ilia... well, we haven't heard a good Twilight Princess rant in a while, so if you're a fan of that, you're in luck!

Of course, the term underrated is pretty subjective, so there's bound to be some ones that ruffle some feathers, but come listen as we rap about our picks. Episode 141 - Imagining a Cyberpunk Zelda Game
01:02:47

Open your eyes.

All around you, tall, sweeping skyscrapers everywhere the eye can see. Dark, gritty streets. Neon lights illuminating the night. The potion shops, open and selling luminescent brews to anyone willing to pay for them. Round the clock surveillance by the flying Guardian drones. A frightened people, scurrying about, desperately trying not to be noticed.

The land of Hyrule has changed over the centuries. Using the Sheikahs technology, the world has advanced further than anyone ever thought possible. The legends and the gods of old were forgotten, and in their place, new gods rose up: the gods of technology, media, and progress. Gone was the Kingdom of Hyrule. Replacing it was GanIncorpotated, the largest conglomerate in the world who was secretly controlling everything and everyone. Presidents, mayors, leaders, were all nothing. GanIncorp were the men behind the masks.

Citizens living in fear. GanIncorp running the world. No hope. No tomorrow.

Open your eyes.

You are Link. Welcome to Hyrule 2149.

... I mean, you'd play that game, right? Come listen as we pitch what a really cool Cyberpunk Zelda might look like, and how there's a lot more cyberpunk in Zelda already - maybe more than you think!

Guess That Zelda Character is back, but there's a twist! There are only so many characters in the Zelda universe, but the locations are seemingly endless. Warning: this episode will make you hungry. This week, we have some special guests join us for a talk all about food, Zelda, and recipes! We sat down with Aime and Walter Woods and chatted about their new cookbook, The Unofficial Legend of Zelda Cookbook! How did it come to be? How was Nintendo in this process? What inspired them to make this? What was the reaction when they surpassed their Kickstarter goal by almost 30-fold? How did they make a recipe for Dubious Food and make it taste good?! And most importantly, there's how many recipes from Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland!?

All this, plus hear Alasyn's count of getting her copy and cooking her first item: buttered apples! (Note: the feature image this week is legit from Alasyn's kitchen!)

Episode 118 - Ask Us Anything About Zelda and Breath of the Wild 2
01:06:35

Another week, another episode where we know not a single thing more about Breath of the Wild 2 than we did last year. That's okay though, since we did what we do best here on the Champions' Cast: speculate! This week, we asked everyone to head over to Facebook and ask a Zelda question to get a Zelda answer, and you delivered big time!

We had tons of questions to answer, including what would we undo in the Zelda series, what new mechanics Breath of the Wild 2 could introduce, what Zelda game do we think is overrated, do we think we'll ever see the Picori again, how important is lore in a Zelda game to us, and what franchise we think Nintendo values more, Mario or Zelda?

These are just some of the great question, so come hang out with us and have some laughs!

Episode 117 - Remembering Our Favorite Stealth Segments in the Zelda Series
01:05:03

Metal Gear!? To hear those words uttered in a Zelda game would give me no end of joy, but then, I'm a big fan of stealthy games and Tactical Espionage Action. But after kicking around the idea, I realized that Zelda has a plethora of stealthy sections spread out in the series for us to dissect and discuss. Come hang with us as we talk Gerudo Valley, Silent Realms, the Yiga Clan Hideout, the Forsaken Fortress, and more as we offer our two cents of most of the stealth segments currently available in Zelda.

Plus, weigh in on a side bar we found ourselves discussing on the show - is Master Kohga is major letdown of a character? What do you think?

All this and more, PLUS, head over to this post right here and ask us a question for net week's show! You can only ask questions on Facebook, so make sure to give us a like and drop a Q in the comments!

Episode 116 - Discussing the Best (and Worst!) Intro Dungeons in the Series
01:01:41

The Intro Dungeon: a games first dungeon that acts both as a tutorial as to how the rest of the game plays, and as a standalone experience. That's our definition anyways, so with that in mind, the gang discuss the 5 best intro dungeons in the series and give some honorable mentions to strong opening "areas". We also shoot on the worst intro sections (no points for guessing mine) and what made them so lackluster.

Come have fun as Corey returns to the show by popular demand!

Episode 109 - Pitching a Final Fantasy VII Style Remake of Ocarina of Time
01:01:44

So a couple weeks ago on my other podcast Virtual Theater, I was telling Gooey that I wouldn't buy the recently released Final Fantasy VII Remake because it was a remake of only the first 5-10% of the game. I even said "that would be like remaking Ocarina of Time and only having the entire game take place in Kokiri Forest!". Fast forward to now, and I caved and bought FFVIIR, really enjoyed it, and felt like it offered a complete experience. So in order to not have to eat a bunch of crow, I came up with an Ocarina of Time Remake game of my own... set entirely in Kokiri Forest!

Come hear my pitch on what this game could look like, what you could expand, how many dungeons you could include, and how big a re-imagined Kokiri Forest could look like! Is it an insane idea? Yes! Should it ever happen? Definitely not! Would you play the game I'm pitching Gooey this week? Let me know!

I'm really interested to see everyone's feedback, so come and tell me on Twitter or Discord if you thought this pitch was cool, cause if enough of you do, maybe we can get to Part 2!

Episode 94 - A Deep Dive Into Four Swords Adventures the Game and it's Surprising Amount of Lore!
01:04:04

Grab your Game Boy Advances (and bring your link cables too) as we do a deep dive this week into the single most underappreciated Zelda game - Four Swords Adventures! I just finished playing a solo run of this game for the first time and have lots of thoughts - how is it solo compared to multiplayer? Is it a pain to set up? How does one player control four Link's? And then we shift over to the story, which is actually bonkers and full of lore. Did the four Royal Guards of Hyrule inspire the Champions? How is Ganondorf back if this game takes place after he's supposed to be dead? We actually get an explanation of who Dark Link is and where he comes from! And what does it have to do with the Twili??

Even if you've never played Four Swords Adventures, you do not want to miss out on this show!

Episode 59 - Are Shrines an Adequate Replacement for Dungeons, and Why I Think The Zelda Timeline is STILL Dumb!
01:04:21

It's Q&A time this week as Andy and Taylor go ahead and answer 20 Debatable questions. Do Shrines do enough to replace dungeons? What if there were a female version of Ganondorf? What song should would we choose to replace the main theme if we had to pick? Is it too late for Impa in Smash? Why does Andy think the Zelda timeline is so lame!?

We have all this, plus some quick thoughts on Detective Pikachu! Come in and enjoy the listen!

Episode 58 - Our Dream Zelda Spinoff's and Counting Down the Ten Greatest Game Boy Games Ever!
00:00

Andy makes a triumphant return to the show this week and doesn't waste any time getting down to business, asking where the heck Cadence of Hyrule has been since it's announcement and taking Taylor through a list of dream Zelda spinoffs. Pikmin with Cucco's? Assassin's Creed with Sheikah? YES PLEASE!

As if that wasn't enough, to celebrate the Game Boy's 30th birthday, the lads count down their top ten OG GB games ever. Link's Awakening, Pokemon, Metroid II, and more! Plus, we give a shout out to the one and only Gary Oak.

Episode 57 - Breath of the Wild's VR and Casting Zelda Characters as The Avengers!
01:00:45

After (un)comfortably deep diving into Tingle’s Rosey Rupeeland last week, Andy decided to briefly escape the country, so Taylor sets out to find Kevin to help him discuss today’s topics. Breath of the Wild has continued its inexorable ride with a VR element using Nintendo Labo while Kevin and Taylor debate whether VR is a good idea. The game also gets an update that improves the load time of Shrines, which of course leads to the Champions’ thinking about speedrunning!

It wouldn’t be Champions’ Cast episode if we didn’t get caught up in the hype of a certain major movie to be released last week and to coincide with this, we’re playing the role of casting directors and work out which Zelda characters could best play Avengers heroes! Ever wonder what Zelda characters might look like in a tabletop RPG session? Kevin & Taylor have put some serious thought into it and we lay out some demands for what we want to see in Nintendo’s ever expanding non-video game Zelda selection.

It’s a jam packed episode this week so don’t miss it!

Yes, Andy has finally finished it (with 100% completion to boot!) and shares some thoughts about this strange game while recounting the weirdest thing he saw!

01:02:21

Yessir, Gooey Fame is back on the Cast to lend his expertise to the show discussing how to make a Zelda movie that doesn't suck!

And if you like the two of us talking about video game movies, make sure you check out our podcast Virtual Theater on Soundcloud!

Would you rather have more frequent releases that are good, or would you rather have to wait for a great one? Would you rather have Naughty Dog or Insomniac develop a Zelda game? Would you rather each new Link start from scratch and experience the hero's journey, or harness all of the memories and experience of previous Link's? Would you rather play as Zelda or Ganondorf?

All this and way more, with even a bonus Metroid WYR question sprinkled in! Plus , we talk about Breath of the Wild's upcoming VR experience! This episode is a load of fun!

We take the bracket and pick our own winners... with some back and forth negotiations in there to determine some winners and losers. It was a fun ride, and for maximum listening pleasure, play along and decide what song would win if YOU were in charge of proceedings!

Andy and Taylor are back taking in a bunch of fan questions. Should Nintendo remake the Oracle games? What about making that long rumored third game? Which Zelda has the best ending? Did Breath of the Wild's high tech take away from the fantasy element? And do we actually believe the rumors of another Zelda game coming out in 2019?

This weeks show is a light and breezy one, full of fun! You won't wanna miss it!

ZI Podcast Ep. 021: Justifying Walkthroughs & Story in Zelda Games
01:16:57
In case you haven't heard, we're getting a three minute preview of the Nintendo NX on October 20th. Yeah, that's happening. So as is typical with a weekly podcast, massive news is hitting pretty much right after this bad boy is live. Crazy life we live huh? I give you one guess into what our major topic will be next week. One we simply can't ignore! That being said, this week it's Colin (from our old podcast) and Alfred joining Nate to talk about Walkthroughs and story in the Zelda series, specifically what they mean for the fan base at large. We apparently also chose the perfect week to not talk about NX - this may be the first podcast yet to barely breath a mention of it. Apparently that's some sort of omen. When we ignore something, it happens. We need to keep this in mind moving forward. Also for those audio only listeners - we didn't not do episode 20! It's just... well... watch the video version of it and you'll quickly see why we didn't have one last week. Enjoy! You can always submit fan topics and questions to podcast@zeldainformer.com

ZI Podcast Ep. 019: Breath of the Wild's Lack of Traditions
01:07:46

This week’s ZI Podcast features just Alfred and Nate as we get chance to cover some actual Zelda news, though it leads to discussion that feels as if things are being taken out of context. For those curious, the piece of news I am talking about deals with the official art for Breath of the Wild. We also looked at some comments about the bow and how that applies to Breath of the Wild.

This past week we also launched the ZD-i Forums with a giveaway and I personally started a brand new podcast called the NP Podcast, with our first episode covering our five favorite games on each of Nintendo’s platforms. It’s a bit of a different format from this cast, so why not give it a listen/watch?

ZI Podcast Ep. 016: Saying Farewell to the Wii U & Airing Some NX Frustration
01:27:05
I have made a triumphant return to the podcast after a one week hiatus to talk about the lasting legacy of the Wii U and why I am so frustrated with Nintendo's handling (or lack of handling) the NX information train. Our usual cohost Alfred is in the house as well as we are also joined by a brand new staff member at Zelda Informer, Daniel, along with Macintyre from Macintyre Productions. There is some audio flubs with Macintyre's stuff, though I did my best to make it understandable. The first 13 minutes features some low quality audio on his end, but then it magically corrects itself into some higher quality stuff, though I was unable to completely remove all of his background noise. If he's on again, I'll have to talk to him about how to improve that situation - but setting that aside we are highly appreciative of his presence this week. He always has something intelligent to add into any conversation about the Zelda series.

ZI Podcast Ep. 015 Does Breath of the Wild Mark the End of Linear Zelda Games?
50:20
This week I take my first "break" from the podcast as Alfred takes the reigns with an absolutely stellar cast, including our Managing Editor Darrin. The special guests this week include NintenDaan and Macintyre Productions. We do not have a video version this week due to me taking a week off, but our audio version is fully loaded and edited in full by Alfred (for those unaware, I typically handle all the editing for all versions of the podcast). We briefly touch base on some of the Nintendo Direct announcements before quickly getting into NX and Sony talks with some nifty fan topics, including a great one about the direction of the future of the Zelda series.

ZI Podcast Ep. 014: NX Rumor Fest & is Nintendo at Fault for Zelda CD-i?
01:02:57
We're back talking about NX rumors, but also possibly the most important conversation we've ever had about Zelda CD-i (to be fair, we don't really talk about that trilogy of games much in the first place). Why do we talk about them this week? Well, Nintendo could have shut those bad boys down if they wanted to. Of course, the previous week didn't go without an NX rumor or two. As always, you can submit your fan topics and other such on-goings to podcast@zeldainformer.com

ZI Podcast Ep. 013: How Breath of the Wild is Revolutionizing Story Telling
01:23:49
This week on the ZI Podcast we dive deep into all of your burning topic suggestions. We had a huge swath of topic ideas from all over our fan base and we wanted to make sure we covered as many of them as we could. However, one particular topic about dungeons in Breath of the Wild ended up spinning off into one of the most interesting discussions we've ever had on the podcast about that game... how story will be presented in a world through a method few if any games have ever even attempted to do before. This conversation sprung up in large part thanks to our special guest this week, Damir Halilović. Damir is actually one of the original founding staff members of Zelda Informer on the whole, though his last days with us here came many years ago now. We also have our usual cast of characters, as in Alfred and yours truly.

ZI Podcast Ep. 012: Is Breath of the Wild Too Scary for Darkness?
01:22:11
This week's audio podcast is back in the spotlight, as issues with our video version's audio has lead to a return to our audio version taking front and center. Of course, you can still watch our video version - just don't be surprised when the audio one is more in sync and contains an extra 10 minutes of content. Yeah, that's exactly why this is the version being featured this week! No worries, I'll be fixing the issues moving forward, but let's get right into this week's worth of podcast goodness. We discuss Eiji Aonuma's weird comments on darkness leading to scariness, plus some new patent information that backs recent NX rumors. As always you can submit fan topics and other submissions to podcast@zeldainformer.com.

ZI Podcast Ep. 011: Zelda & Metroid's 30th, Shutting Down Fan Projects
01:48:44
This week we cover some rather series topics, including some much beloved anniversaries for both Zelda and Metroid, Nintendo's take down of fan projects, and a slew of fan questions pertaining to some interesting Zelda lore. We have a jam packed podcast this week despite the fact that it's just the hosts this week. No special guests, no other staff members from Zelda Informer, this week is all Alfred and Nate going head to head debating about this week's greatest news. You can always submit your questions or concerns to podcast@zeldainformer.com.

Zi Podcast Ep. 010: The Importance of Art Styles & The Future of Zelda
01:13:47
On this week's episode of the Zelda Informer Podcast we discuss the premise for Breath of the Wild, the role art style plays in the series, and offer speculation on where exactly the Zelda series is heading after Breath of the Wild. We are joined this week by your usual hosts and a special guest, the hype man himself, HMK. If you have any questions, theme song submissions, or just want to get in contact with anyone on the podcast, just shoot an email to podcast@zeldainformer.com.

ZI Podcast Ep. 009: NX Leaks Galore & Breath of the Wild DLC
01:08:50
This week on the Zelda Informer Podcast, Alfred makes a triumphant return to his co-hosting duties as our resident comic artist, Trey, and super fan Mason make appearances to discuss some unexpected NX leaks. With the NX leaks taking up a majority of the first half of the podcast, I wanted to reminded everyone of a rather amazing (and sad) story a fan shared with us and allowed us to share with all of you about how Nintendo is keeping a lost brother with someone special while playing Breath of the Wild. Speaking of Breath of the Wild, we only cover two fan topics this week, but that's because the topics sparked some great conversations around heart containers and potential DLC in the game. We round out the podcast in our typical fashion, as we briefly go over some of our favorite things from this past week, including some positive vibes from Pokemon GO, some good ol' Overwatch fun, and Alfred goes on to express his deep love for the Darksiders theory. Oh, we also have a somewhat exclusive nugget towards the end about a yet to be announced game. You'll have to listen to find out what that is! As always, you can send your fan topics, theme song submissions, or any other questions about the podcast to podcast@zeldainformer.com.

ZI Podcast Ep. 008: Thoughts on Breath of the Wild's Delays & NES Mini
53:08
This week's episode of the Zelda Informer Podcast is a bit of an odd one, as we had to call upon our fan base at the last moment to step up and create a worthwhile podcast. This is why some of the audio and possibly video quality... isn't exactly top notch, but who can blame them? They were brave enough to answer the call and we at Zelda Informer are enternally grateful. Is it possible we have some of the best fans on the internet? This week we talk about all the hubbub around why Breath of the Wild suffered delays and begin to dissect if the Nintendo Classic Edition is a truly good announcement. We then turn things on their head as we discuss our favorite pieces of music from the Zelda series. As always you can send in your topic ideas, theme song submissions, or whatever else your heart desires to podcast@zeldainformer.com.

ZI Podcast Ep. 007: What Makes a Great Zelda Boss Fight & Pokemon GO
01:32:37
We're in the middle of July 2016, releasing our first podcast episode in a post Pokemon Go world. The game/app/phenomenon that has taken over the world can't even escape our podcast crew, but long before we talk about the sheer impact of a rather simplistic title, we get into a rather interesting debate about what makes a great boss fight in the Zelda series. Later on we talk about some fan topics that deal with speculation around the next great Zelda game, Breath of the Wild. There are a few other zany things going on as well this week, including the Zelda Dungeon Informer Marathon. You'll be able to start watching it right over on our twitch channel this Saturday. We're also looking to bring on more volunteers to our staff and you can find out more about that in our "hiring" post.  As always, you can submit fan topics, ask us questions, or send any other various inquiry to podcast@zeldainformer.com. We also have a video version of this podcast available here.

ZI Podcast Ep. 006: Leaked Hyrule Warriors DLC, Zelda in a Rut, & More Multiplayer
01:26:40
We're finally almost back to our regular schedule, though before we can get directly into the topics this week we do have a little score to settle in terms of our somewhat controversial tie in our E3 betting results. So we settle the score right off the bat with what I personally would describe as a come from behind, totally unexpected, victory. After those shenanigans we get back into our regular format. This week we talk about the leaked Hyrule Warriors DLCNintendo admitting that Zelda is in a rut, and how Eiji Aonuma wants to make even more multiplayer Zelda experiences. We also cover a few fan topics and discuss at length some some of the joy and frustration in a couple YouTubers being outed for some extremely shady stuff. As always, you can send topic submissions, questions, or any other inquiries to podcast@zeldainformer.com. You can also support this podcast, and a potential new podcast focused on everything Nintendo, right here on patreon.

ZI Podcast Ep. 005: Zelda Series Gender Debate Put to Rest & E3 Bets Results
01:26:05
This weeks podcast features yours truly, with our regular co-host Alfred back in his usual spot as a ZI Podcast first timer joins us. This weeks podcast finally gets to put to rest the seemingly endless gender debate, thanks in large part to Mr. Shigeru Miyamoto. Speaking from a very personal level with this, I am glad that this will be the last time this topic comes up on Zelda Informer. We also finally learn about and discuss the causes behind delays in Zelda game release dates. We had some fine fan topics this time around as well, but what is truly notable is the last segment of this week's podcast deals with our E3 Bets Results. Who won? You'll have to listen to find out! As always you can send submissions, fan topics, or whatever questions you may have to podcast@zeldainformer.com.

ZI Podcast Ep. 004: Breath of the Wild & NX Speculation
01:12:07
We've arrived at our first episode of the Zelda Informer Podcast after the whirlwind of information that hit us during E3 2016. There is a lot to go over, but before I get into what we cover this week I wanted to note that we do not talk about our E3 bets in this episode due to Alfred having internet issues and quite honestly due to my life being so busy I have not been able to compile the results just yet. That being said it's no surprise we're talking about Breath of the Wild and you honestly should be expecting us to talk a lot about this game each week as we get closer and closer to release, given that new news about the game is going to be trickled out over time. We also get to talk about the some interesting news in regards to the NX and a small tidbit on the future of the Zelda series after Breath of the Wild releases. We're back to our standard format, though if you are curious for more demo impressions be sure to check out last week's in person podcast.

ZI Podcast Ep. 003: E3 Demo Impressions of Breath of the Wild
01:13:59
Hey everyone and welcome to yet another special edition of the podcast, this time featuring three very special guests along with our host, Nathanial Rumphol-Janc, as we detail out our initial gameplay impressions of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Those guests include Rod (Senior Editor for Zelda Informer), Zion (Former Zelda Informer Writer), and Eric (Best friend of Nathanial & behind the scenes helper). This is a unique bunch as it features three Zelda veterans... but also one person who has little Zelda experience and has never beaten a Zelda game. Thus you get the impressions of some self proclaimed "experts", along with a perspective of someone who previously wasn't really into Zelda games. Between all of us we ended up with 5 total playthroughs of the two available demos and there is a lot to talk about.

ZI Podcast Ep. 2.2: E3 Betting Special 2016

ZI Podcast Ep. 2.1: Bonus Talk About Press Conferences

ZI Podcast Ep. 002: E3 Hype Cast & Betting Special
01:26:40
Our E3 hype podcast has arrived a bit later in the day today than originally planned, but we hope you find the episode worth the wait. In fact, we have a special bonus episode, something we call bonus talk, arriving later this week where we go over all the other press conferences and some thoughts about them. This time though for our main episode this week, it's all about Nintendo, Zelda U/NX, and our first ever betting special. My co-host Alfred and myself go head to head in a betting special that has some really high and naturally embarrassing stakes, dragging our guests this week (Darrin and Rabidluigi) into some intense E3 related questions to decide our fate. It's simply something you are not going to want to miss out on. In fact, later this week we'll be releasing a separate video of just our bets, that way you can salivate over them even more. Of course, it wouldn't be the first ever betting special if we didn't have a little bit of a controversy. You can vote in the poll below to help decide the fate of question 5 from our lovely Aflred. Outside of the bets, we talk extensively about Zelda U and our hype (in my case), or the lack thereof (everyone else) as we head into E3. We also go over some fan topics that all mostly pertain to Zelda U, save a rather interesting mention of Advance Wars. As always, stay tuned for our bonus talk and individual betting special later this week. Next week we'll have an all in-person cast that is sure to excite as we give our impressions about Zelda U like our life depends on it.

ZI Podcast Ep. 001: Zelda U's Demo Shenanigans, a New Era, & Least Liked 3D Zelda Games
01:17:25
Hey everyone and welcome to our first ever episode of the all new Zelda Informer Podcast. In case you missed it, during episode 87 the entirety of the old crew said their goodbyes as they road off into the sunset during their final episode. After a one week break, the podcast has returned and been reborn into something all new and entirely different than what it was before. This week in our first episode we dive into some news surrounding the Zelda U demo both at E3 as well as at Nintendo NY. We also briefly chat about GameStop's none prediction... predictions about potential NX sales over the first two years from launch. We then tackle a slew of fan topics before diving into our favorite thing in video games this past week, where Overwatch gets some much deserved attention, Ocarina of Time 3D creeps into the spotlight, and Nate wonders about the possibilities surrounding Xbox Scorpio. Give the show a listen and let us know what you think about the new format and along with any other feedback you might have. You can send in your fan topics, questions, or general podcast related goodness to podcast@zeldainformer.com. You can support this podcast further over on Patreon.
