Mallorca v. FC Barcelona (0-1) Match Review: A Moment of Lewandowski Brilliance Seals Another Win

The Barca Breakdown discussed the victory against Mallorca after returning from the international break. With all the injuries that racked up, Xavi had to change the line up. Alba started as the left back with Balde on the right back alongside Pique and Christensen. Appearing in the midfield was Kessie, Busquets, and Gavi with Dembele, Lewandowksi, and Fati on the attack. While this is not Xavi's first choice, considering the return from international break, injuries, and the need to rest players before the Champions League game against Inter Milan, it was a good decision.

The game was rather underwhelming. Barca was able to create one brilliant chance from Lewandowski in the 20'. This goal was all Barca needed to win the game and take 1st on the table, well at least until Real play Osasuna tomorrow. Other than the goal, Barca were flat on their chances and did not provide many offensive opportunities. The largest and most worrying aspect of the game was Barca's effort in the defense. Many times, Barca players seemed lethargic, uninterested, and distracted. These moments allowed Mallorca opportunities to score, however, they were not clinical and could not convert any chances.    It seems this game may be the game to brush off the cobwebs after the international break. Hopefully so, as Barca face Inter Milan in the Champions League on Tuesday in which Barca play in Italy.

Barca News: Araujo, Kounde, De Jong, Depay, & Bellerin Injured For CRITICAL October Schedule!

The Barca Breakdown discussed the unfortunate news of players injured during the international break. It seems Araujo, Kounde, De Jong, and Bellerin have all picked up injuries. This could not have come at a worse time as Barca are about to have the one of the most important months of the year in October. Barca face Inter Milan two times in the champions league along with the second leg of Bayern. While Barca must beat Inter Milan so that there is no question to move out of the group stages, this puts Xavi in quite a predicament. Barca are in second place (2 points behind Madrid), just picked up 5 injuries, and have 6 la Liga games and 3 in CL in October, Xavi must decide what is more important, La Liga or the Champions League.

Now it is possible that Barca make if through the CL even if they do not beat Inter, as Inter still can lose to Plzen or Barca could beat Bayern. However do to the uncertainty and the fact Barca most likely will not win the Champions League, it is more important to focus on La Liga. Additionally, after October, the World Cup will begin. International breaks will tire the players out and it's possible Barca will struggle after returning to Liga. It is important to get as many points as possible before the break.

To make matters worse, Barca will play a Clasico match in the middle of the hectic schedule. This could very well he a critical moment in Barca's season which may set the stage for a La Liga trophy.

FC Barcelona v Elche (3-0) Match Review: Lewandowski TWO MORE GOALS! Pedri MOTM, Depay Scores!
The Barca Breakdown discussed Matchday 6 against Elche. Elche has surely struggled this season as they've plummeted to 20th on the table. Barca's form this season has proved to be strong, scoring many goals, many of which coming from Lewandowski.    Unfortunately for Elche, they received a red card for a poor foul on Lewandowski in the 15th minute leaving them with 10 men. Barca certainly capitalized on this opportunity, in the 34' when Balde crossed the ball into the box and Lewy slid in and scored. It was all downhill for Elche from that point. Depay was also able to box out his defender in the box and received a pass from Balde. Depay quickly turned and smashed the ball into the back of the net. The first half ended and Barca completely dominated possession and control of the game.    The second half started with Kessie subbed off for Gavi. Soon after, Gavi pushed forward and crossed the ball back to Lewandowski. A one touch shot placed the ball in the left side of the net. Barca lead 3-0.    Big shout out to Frenkie De Jong, Balde, and Lewandowski for a great performance and complete domination of the game. Elche only managed 1 shot on goal with a 22% possession. While this game cannot provide any insight on Barca's progress it keeps them very competitive in La Liga. International break has now begun for Barca. The big question is can they keep their form when they return? When we return in October to play Mallorca, we have a big test in the Champions League against Inter Milan. This is the focus of Barca.

Bayern Munich v FC Barcelona (2-0) Match Review: Lewandowski and Pedri Fall Short & Alonso Starts!

The Barca Breakdown discussed the tough Champions League loss in Munich. With so much history in the recent years between Bayern and Barca, this match was highly anticipated. This is especially true as Barca has seen some wonderful improvement this year under Xavi and after the summer transfer window. Unfortunately, the game did not pan out in Barca's favor and they lost 2-0 to Bayern. Barca's biggest enemy was themselves. This game could have been won with some clinical finishing from Lewandowski and Pedri. Additionally, the front line overall seems to lack that final oomph.

Let's take a step back and look at Xavi's lineup. It was pretty obvious Xavi was going to start Dembele, Raphinha, Lewandowski, Pedri, Gavi, and Busquets. However, surprisingly, Xavi started Alonso as left back ahead of Balde or even Alba. Christensen also received a start over Garcia, presumably due to the injury Garcia has. Despite the one curveball, Barca came out with a ferocity unseen in a big Champions League game in the last few years. Barca defense was able to keep Bayern at bay for most of the first half by intercepting the ball and stripping players in the midfield. This accomplishment was led by Busquets and Gavi who performed wonderfully in the first 90. Unfortunately, Raphinha seemed a bit off the mark and Lewandowski/Pedri both missed great opportunities.

The second half began with subs on the Bayern side, yet none from Xavi. This had an immediate effect, as Bayern were able to break Barca's defense. Barca failed to effectively mark attackers on a corner and fell asleep on the defense resulting in 2 goals. Xavi finally decided to make some subs, however a little too late. Barca found themselves trying to fight back and could not finish anything. Xavi received some criticism for making late subs and for Ferran Torres being the first player off the bench. Barca are tied in Group C with Inter Milan under Bayern Munich. While this game did not give the results fans had hoped for, it certainly leaves hope in Barca's CL endeavors for this year. Focus will be turned back to La Liga for the weekend game against Elche.

Cadiz v. FC Barcelona (0-4): Frenkie CRUSHES Cadiz’s 2 Year Unbeaten Streak Against Barca

The Barca Breakdown discussed matchday 5 away in Cadiz. A team that is 20th on the table with ZERO points and ZERO goals on the charts. Seeing Barca have their first huge match of the season against Bayern on Tuesday, Xavi chose a lineup that featured less starters. Bellerin started as right back alongside Araujo, Pique, and Balde while the midfield started with Frenkie, giving Pedri a rest. Memphis and Torres were the attacking front with Raphinha.

As the lineup is very fresh, it was expected to have a slower start. Most goal scoring attempts came from the left side of the field, however, the finishing touches were sloppy and off the mark. Torres continued to sky the ball into the stands and Depay continued to shoot low and weak at the goalie, making for easy saves. A great output was seen from Frenkie and Gavi while Busquets held the midfield ground. However no goals were scored and Cadiz was able to play a heavy defensive line to crowd the box.    The second half started with no substitutes. But it was the starting XI that could score the game opener. Raphinha runs up the right side of the pitch getting the ball to Gavi who crosses the ball and the goalie blocks it. The rebound fell to Frenkie de Jong who put in the opening goal. After this moment, the game opens up as Cadiz must score to equalize or lose the game. Xavi then puts on Dembele, Fati, and Lewandowski. Not long after, Bellerin makes a run down the right pitch and gets the ball to Raphinha who crosses the ball into Frenkie and a Cadiz defender. The ball slips off and Lewandowki slides in for the goal! In the 80' the game was paused due to a person in the crowd falling ill. After about a 45 minute delay the game resumed. Fati was able to score in the box from an assist from Lewy and another goal from Dembele! The game ends 0-4 and Barca take another 3 points.    The Breakdown looks forward to the midweek Bayern game. Where Barca will face their first huge test of the season.

FC Barcelona v. Plzen (5-1): DEMBELE AND LEWANDOWSKI IGNITE Champions League Season Opener!

The Barca Breakdown discussed the champions league season opener against Plzen with goals from Lewandowski and Dembele. While Barca fell in the Group of Death (again), Plzen were the least threatening. However, Barca could not afford to lose points in the group as Barca will play Bayern Munich and Inter Milano. The Bayern game is next Tuesday and it's safe to say Xavi wants his most trusted starting XI ready and rested.

So in today's game, we saw an interesting line-up which included Alba and Roberto as fullbacks, Frenkie, Pedri, and Kessie in the midfield, and Fati with his first start alongside Dembele and Lewandowski. The game opened up a little rusty, with Barca losing the ball which led to some fast breaks for Plzen. After a few close calls from Plzen, Barca adjusted. Suddenly, Barca were on the ball consistently and maintained possession in the attacking half. Plzen became helpless as they scrambled to cover the gaps in their defense. The game exploded wide open after Dembele's corner came soaring to Kounde. Kounde headed the ball to Kessie and Kessie put the goal away. The next 3 goals came from a hattrick by none other than Robert Lewandowski! His assists came from Roberto, Dembele, and Ferran Torres. The last goal was scored by Torres with an assist from Demebele. Overall, Lewandsowki and Dembele were equally magnificent in the Champions League opener.

The team was able to dominate possession and capitalize on Plzen's mistakes. The Barca squad also put in high effort offensively and defensively, constantly looking to score and get the ball back. While the Barca squad did a fantastic job, it must be said that Plzen did not perform very well. They clearly could not match the caliber of Barca and were not prepared. Despite this, Barca put out a completely dominant performance and should be applauded for their hard work! The Breakdown looks to the weekend as we play Cadiz and next week's Champions League game in Munich.

Sevilla v FC Barcelona (0-3) Match Review: Lewandowski, Dembele, & Raphinha Shut Sevilla Down In 45’
The Barca Breakdown discussed the away victory against Sevilla. Coming into the game Barca had just come off a 4-0 win against Villadolid and Sevilla only had 1 point in 4 games. Xavi also decided to use the same line up against Villadolid, but started Dembele on the left side and Raphinha on the right.    In the first 20 minutes, Barca struggled to move the ball forward as Sevilla dropped their defense into their defensive half. This was also difficult to deal with because our midfields were pushed too far forward. However, Gavi dropped back and was able to intercept and steal the ball from Sevilla. This was the catalyst to Barca's success. In the 21' minute, Gavi intercepted the ball and was able to find Dembele running down the left wing. Lewandowski receives the ball and chips it over the goalie, but a defender knocks it before it makes it past the goal line. Luckily, Raphinha had tracked on the right side and headers the ball in to make the opening goal.   After this moment, Sevilla wasn't able to hold Barca back. By the end of the first half Barca were up 0-2 with an assist from Kounde to Lewandowski for an astounding goal. The third goal came from a nice set piece from Dembele and Raphinha to Erica Garcia in the box. After this, the game was sealed and Sevilla could not come back.    Barca look forward to the midweek champions league game against Plzen, then Cadiz on the weekend, and lastly face off against Bayern Munich.

FRENKIE v. GAVI with ThePurist: The FIGHT For Xavi’s Starting XI - Who Deserves The RW? Dembele or Raphinha?
The Barca Breakdown discussed the debate of who should start, Frenkie or Gavi and Barcelona's choices for wingers. Special guest Jaleel, aka ThePurist_ on Twitter, joins us to give his insight.   Gavi and Frenkie both have their strengths and weaknesses, but the differential in minutes seems to favor Gavi. We discuss why Xavi prefers Gavi and why haven't we seen more Frenkie. What type of match do each of these players prosper in and has Xavi figured this out?   Then there's the discussion of Dembele and Raphinha playing at the same time. It clear that both of them perform better on the right wing. If this is the case, should be be playing them both at the same time if they both ar best on the right? What about the left wing? Raphinha is not the only option on the left wing. Barca still have Fati and Ferran Torres. But both have recently come back from injury and have yet to reach their forms.    One thing is for sure, Barca have many options and can experiment in the coming season.

FC Barcelona v Valladolid (4-0) Match Review: Lewandowski &Dembele Shine and Kounde’s First Start!
The Barca Breakdown discussed the 4-0 victory against Valladolid. After much anticipation, Xavi started Kounde as the right back alongside Araujo, Garcia, and Balde. Again, Frenkie De Jong lost the starting position to Gavi. And the seemingly standard starting front line of Rahpinha, Dembele, and Lewandowski kicked off at the Camp Nou.    The possession was dominated by Barca in the whole 90'. This isn't particularly surprising as Valladolid had recently just returned from regulation and in previous seasons always fell to the bottom of the table. Barca attacked time and time again until Lewandowksi scored from a cross from Raphinha. This opened the game up as players were able to find the open pitch and make runs through the midfield. The wingers dropped to the middle which pulled defenders back allowing Gavi and Pedri to run up the pitch into the box. Many times Gavi was able to get the ball in the box, but held on too long or was covered too quickly. Then the play dies.   Moving forward though Dembele lit up the match with two assists. The first was a pass to Pedri at the middle of the penalty box and the second came to Lewy in which he back healed it into the net. Lastly, Lewy just misses a hat trick off the crossbar and Roberto smashes it back. Barca geet another 3 points. However, Valladolid performed very poorly, and this game cannot be completely representative of Barca in its peak performance. Barca just drew Bayern and Inter Milan in the Champions League and these games will be much more of a test of Barca's capabilities.

Xavi’s Changes for Real Sociedad: Mistake? Ter Stegen & Pedri Excellence! Fati, Lewandowski Clinical
The Barca Breakdown discussed victory in Anoeta against Real Sociedad. Barcelona take their first W of the season with a 1-4 scoreline. While the scoreline maybe flattering, Barca certainly struggled to break the tie until the 60'.    The game changed when Xavi subbed in Fati and Raphinha, which provided a much stronger threat. Quickly, La Real found themselves at the mercy of Fati of which provided an assit to Dembele and scored a goal for himself.    But who was responsible for this victory. Xavi utilized a 3-2-2-3, or some might call it a 3-4-3, formation. In this set up Araujo played as a right back but had to cover more space as he was Barca weren't playing with their traditional back 4. In this situation Araujo is already playing out of position. Ferran Torres played in the middle behind Lewandowski. The midfield was set up as a double pivot of Frenkie and Pedri. Lastly, Dembele had to play more defensive to cover the space Araujo would normally cover. None of this seemed to be working. It wasn't until the sun's came in, the game lit up.    So, yes, Xavi put these players in, but did they succeed because of him, or was it their individual skill/brilliance that lead Barca to Victory?

Real Sociedad 1-4 FC Barcelona Match Review: Ansu Fati MASTERCLASS! Lewandowski & Dembele Score!

The BarcaBreakdown discuss FC Barcelona’s 1-4 victory against Real Sociedad at Anoeta. Xavi’s surprising starting eleven clearly did not work, though Pedri, Balde and Lewandowski combined for a fantastic goal in the game’s opening minute. However, Araujo as RB, Frenkie De Jong as pivot, and Ferran Torres working inside with Lewandowski left us open to a counter and early goal to tie the game 1-1 by Isak.

Overall, Xavi tried a new 3-4-3 (3-2-3-1?) lineup that did not work for the first 60 minutes of the game. The substitutions of Ansu Fati and Raphinha immediately changed the complexion of the game, as Fati assisted Dembele and Lewandowski before scoring his own goal to lead the 1-4 victory. Fati proved again why he is FC Barcelona’s #10, and how absolutely magical he is when healthy and playing consistently. Unfortunately, Ferran Torres (who made only 1 appearance in preseason) looked very rusty and out of position as he was not dribbling in from the wings.

Christensen again had a great game in defense, and he is continuing to prove why Xavi is relying on him as a starting centerback. Eric Garcia put in a good shift, though he was unlucky Frenkie gave the ball away and put Garcia in a bad position for the Isak goal.

We hope to see Xavi continue to tinker with the team and find the best lineup to improve our defence and midfield. The signing of Kounde will be critical to make sure he can cover the RB or RWB spot this season.

Xavi MUST SOLVE these issues for Real Sociedad in La Liga this weekend!

The BarcaBreakdown discuss the issues FC Barcelona and Xavi are facing after a draw to Rayo Vallecano fell well short of expectations. With the additions of Lewandowski, Raphinha, Christensen (and now Kounde), Xavi needs time to develop Barca. However, some fans are worried about a continuous trend from Xavi’s side, so the BarcaBreakdown tackle the issues he must conquer!

First, we discuss how Ronald Araujo playing as a full back against Rayo did not go well, and our believe that Araujo should only be played there against very threatening wingers. Araujo lacks the ability, like we saw Xavi use with Dani Alves last season, to act as an inverted full back. This role is crucial as it allows the full back to act as a second pivot and help facilitate the ball and draw defenders away from the interiors and wingers. It will be interesting to see if Xavi continues to not believe in Sergino Dest and whether Barca sell him in the next few weeks. Kounde may be a better option at right back, though we will need to see Kounde perform there over the next few weeks to understand if he is a good fit.

One of the revelations from Rayo was that Frenkie De Jong still plays a large role in this FC Barcelona side, even after all of the rumors of his departure have been circling this month.

FC Barcelona vs. Rayo Vallecano 0-0 La Liga Match Review: Lewandowski, Raphinha, Dembele Goalless!

The Barca Breakdown discuss the first day of the 2022/23 La Liga season against Rayo Vallecano. A team that beat us in both match days last season, was responsible for our third home loss, and was the final game of the Koeman era. Every Barca fan could only imagine the sweet payback Barca would get with a huge summer of signings.

However, match day 1 did not deliver exactly as fans would have thought. Xavi's starting line-up did not feature Dest, who was not even called up, nor Frenkie De Jong. Instead Araujo slotted in the right back position with Christensen and Garcia as the center backs and Gavi received a start along side Pedri and Busi. There was no other choice but to start Raphinha, Dembele, and Lewandowski in the attacking front. As one would expect, Barca dominated possession of the ball and in the first 20 or so minutes created many opportunities.

It must be said, the mid field was not an integral part of these first minutes as they were hardly involved in the build up. Instead, it seemed it was the job of the defense to get the balls to the wings and allow Dembele and Raphinha to control the ball forward. This tactic was soon after found out and Barca slowed their advances to the end of the first half. There were plenty of great opportunities though. Dembele had many services into the box to Lewandowski and Raphinha. Many of which were snuffed out by the goal or off the mark. Rounding into the second half it seemed that Barca just could not break the defense of Rayo in addition to their time wasting. The game certainly picked up when Frenkie subbed in. He was able to dribble the ball down the center, creating lethal opportunities. Despite all best efforts, FC Barcelona could not find the back of the net and leave their first game of the season with a 1 point. Hopefully the team can become more cohesive through the next few games to find the net. Xavi will need to make some adjustments including starting Frenkie and not keeping in Busquests for a full 90.

FC Barcelona’s Gala Back Line: With The Arrival of Kounde and Christensen, Who Will Xavi Rely Upon?

Jaleel/ThePurist's Medium Article:

ThePurist Twitter:

The BarcaBreakdown have special guest Jaleel aka the Purist, as he's known by his Twitter handle, to discuss is most recent article "Decoding Barcelona's Centre Backs". We discussed his preferred gala backline as FC Barcelona have more defensive options with the signing of Christensen and Kounde. The other players to choose from are Eric Garcia, Jordi Alba, Ronald Araujo, Sergino Dest, Sergi Roberto, Balde, and Gerard Pique.

Jaleel explains why he chose each of the 4 players based on what Xavi needs and each players strengths and weaknesses. The Breakdown picked Jaleel's brain about the downstream affects of some of the choices and the expectations for the team coming into the 2022/23 season. It is clear Barca have a a high potential next season, however, with the signing of many new players and still having a young squad, Barca will still face some adversity. Nonetheless, Jaleel provided some great insight and discussion about the current state of Barca's backline and the season to come.

It is exciting to consider all of Barca's options and hopefully they will come out of the preseason with a hunger to take some titles under the direction of Xavi.

NY Red Bulls vs. FC Barcelona [0-2] Dembele, Raphinha and Lewandowski Shine! Xavi’s Starting Eleven?

The BarcaBreakdown discuss the final preseason game vs. New York Red Bulls, as goals from Ousmane Dembele and Memphis Depay led to a 2-0 victory for Barca. Xavi now leads the squad to the Joan Gamper game before the La Liga season begins. With Gavi, Busquets, and Frenkie de Jong starting in midfield along with Raphinha-Lewandowski-Dembele up front, a clearer picture of Xavi's preferred 11 comes into mind.

Up front, with Ansu Fati recovering and Ferran Torres still on the sideline, the trio of Raphinha-Lewandowski-Dembele seems like the clear favorite. The two energetic wingers provide incredible speed and driblling, while Lewandowski looks primed to pour in goals (though he hasn't yet this preseason). In the midfield, Pedri and Busquets are clear starters for the game against Rayo. Frenkie De Jong and Gavi are battling for the 3rd starting spot, though the BarcaBreakdown believes Frenkie is better suited to play in midfield right now.

In defense, Xavi has a tougher decision as he still hasn't worked with Christensen or Jules Kounde enough. We expect to see Araujo start alongside either Eric Garcia or Pique. Jordi Alba is guaranteed to start at left back, although it was comforting to see Balde play well against Red BUlls. It will be seen if Sergino Dest, the only true right back, will start, or if Araujo/Kounde will begin to take time at the RB position.

Transfer News: FC Barcelona Sign Joules Kounde From Sevilla!! How Will Xavi Lineup His Defense?

The Barca Breakdown discussed another landmark transfer in the summer window. Joules Kounde has signed with FC Barcelona, a deal including €50 million transfer fee + €10 million in variables over 4 years. Despite Chelsea offering over €60 million, it was clear the Frenchman didn't want to go to the Premier League. Barca now have a reinforced defense that will help them make it further into the Champions League and stop the comebacks that Barca fell victim to. But it matters no longer, Barcelona have Gerard Pique, Joules Kounde, Eric Garcia, Ronald Araujo, Andres Christenesen, Sergio Roberto, Sergino Dest, and Jordi Alba. This will allow Xavi to rotate players much more effectively as well as mitigate the impact felt when a defender becomes injured.

With so many options will Barca play a 4-3-3 or a 3-4-3? A 3-4-3 has seen much of Barca fall victim to assault from the wings, many times having players backtracking during a counter. It is likely that Xavi will stick with a 4-3-4 especially when trying out different lineups and their effectiveness. The last thing to consider is what will Xavi's preferred lineup be? Players to get the most time in as center backs will most likely be Kounde and Araujo, but there will be plenty of time for Christensen. We believe Eric Garcia will lose some minutes/starts and dest in certain situations may have to compete with Roberto or Araujo. Whatever Xavi leans towards, Barca definitely have some great potential and will be facing Juventus tomorrow in the USA.

FC Barcelona V Real Madrid 1-0 El Clasico: RAPHINHA SCORES GOLAZO! Lewandowski Thrilling Debut!

The Barca Breakdown discussed FC Barcelona's preseason El Clasico match in Las Vegas. The starting line-up included Lewandowski, Raphinha, Fat, Pedri, Gavi, Busquets, Alba, Christensen, Garcia, Araujo, and Ter Stegen. In his first game joining FC Barcelona, Lewandowski looked like a lethal stud. He was playing on both sides of the pitch working and looking to score. A few shots on goal created some very exciting moments for the Pol. However, he never was able to find the back of the net. Nevertheless, after a great Barca press, Real Madrid were forced into a bad position and lost the ball due to a terrible clearance. Raphinha is able to smash the ball into the back of the net and take Barca up 1-0. After a close opportunity from Fati the first half ended.

The second half the whole team changed and we were able to see some play from Dembele, Sergio Roberto, Kessie, Frenkie De Jong, and Depay, amongst others. While this half was not as exciting as the first half, it still had some interesting highlights from Depay, Kessie, and Roberto. Barca were able to hold off Real Madrid for 90 minutes, without allowing them a shot on Target. The damage against Real Madrid was not large with a 1 goal deficit but it could have been worse if Courtois was not saving almost every shot that came to the giant.    With an exciting Clasico, it gives Barca fans a hopeful look at what is to come during the 2022/23 season!

LEWANDOWSKI TO FC BARCELONA! Is He The Missing Piece To Barca’s Champions League & La Liga Success??
The Barca Breakdown discuss the signing of Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich! The Pol comes to Barca on a 4 year deal at €45 million transfer fee + €5 million in variables. In a crazy summer transfer window, Barca are able to sign some big names and Lewandowski is the icing on the cake. For several years now, Barca have been missing an all out striker to score goals, and now they have him for 4 years.    There are many postivies the striker will provide, but his proven track record of 50+ goals in all competitions year in and year out, only strengthen the excitement of his arrival. With Dembele and Raphinha on the wings providing balls into the striker, this front 3 will be a force to be reckoned with. The only downside is Lewandowski is older (33), but with age comes wisdom and experience. If we can even get 20+ goals it would be a success.    Barca still need some help in the defensive line, however this has given hope to a quality 2022/23 campaign!

FC Barcelona To SIGN RAPHINHA! Will The Leeds United Forward FLOP or FLOURISH With Xavi and FCB?

The Barca Breakdown discussed the agreement reached by Leeds United and FC Barcelona for the purchase of Raphinha. The agreement includes 58 Million Euros + 6-9 Million in bonuses until 2027.

With the signing of Dembele, Barca have managed two very important signings in the summer transfer window on top of the acquisition of Christensen and Kessie. The board was able to make purchases due to the sale of TV rights that generated them funds. The signing of Raphinha has sparked concern that Barca could be over spending money right after they got some funds. On top of the worry that a 5 year signing could be troublesome if Raphinha underperformed. It wouldn't be the first time Barca signed a player that ended up flopping for large amounts of money and long contracts.

While all of these are viable concerns, Barca are under new management, there is a new squad, and it's great to have fresh attacking players. Speaking of available forwards, Depay is rumored to be leaving the team and Ferran Torres has a wound to one of his feet. The sporting team of FC Barcelona have been busy this summer. Hopefully some of their purchases will pan out and Xavi will be able to win some trophies next season!

Barca SIGN Dembele! Raphina & Lewandowski On Their Way to FCB? Frenkie De Jong Contract Issues!

The Barca Breakdown discussed that reports are, Dembele has signed a contract with FC Barcelona at a reduced salary until 2024. After the chaos of last season, it seems Dembele's agent has only forced a lower salary by not taking the initial contracts. While this may be bad news for Dembele, Barca get a great deal and the player gets to stay where he pleases.

Now that Barca have signed Dembele, what does that mean in the quest to acquire Raphinha and Lewandowski? Both players would cost a pretty penny for them to come and Barca would be signing several forwards when they definitely need to bolster the back line. The economic levers that will generate Barca money should be used wisely. Money should be managed well when looking to purchase either player.

Reports are Raphinha will come to Barca but Bayern Munich has yet to say they are willing to let Lewandowski leave. Transfer rumors are a tricky business, but one name has been thrown around a lot this summer. Frenkie De Jong has made news several times in connection with a transfer to Manchester United. However, the Dutchman has clearly stated he wants to stay at Barcelona. Additionally, he has several years on his contract in which he deferred payments to the later half of his contract, meaning he is owed larger amounts of money.

It is rumored that Frenkie's contract was leaked by Barca to justify his release. Whatever the case, Frenkie wishes to stay and play Champions League Football which would not be found at Man United. Chelsea has joined the running for the Dutchman. Lastly, Barca sent Trincao for 10 Million Euros taking a loss from his original acquisition. Whatever the case may be, Barca finally cut ties with old signings that haven't panned out. This is one of the last few steps Barca are taking to get rid of the Bartomeu era.

Frenkie STAYING at FC Barcelona? Kessie and Christensen Official! Raphinha AND Dembele At Barca?

The BarcaBreakdown discuss the recent transfer news, including Laporta saying Frenkie De Jong is staying, Barca officially announcing Kessie and Christensen signings, Lengelet being loaned to Tottenham, Dembele and Raphinha updates, and Luuk De Jong and Adama Traore returning to their teams from loan.

Though some of these are rumors, the economic levers being pulled does mean that Kessie and Christensen are officially FC Barcelona players. We are a bit skeptical of Laporta saying that Frenkie De Jong will stay, and we think that his comment about the need for Frenkie's wage reductions will be used to eventually explain his departure to Manchester United.

In a sudden turn of events, Raphina's transfer from Leeds to Chelsea has been halted, as there are increasing rumors that Raphinha will head to FC Barcelona! It is not official, but Deco and Raphinha have strong links to Barca right now though the transfer fee with Leeds is still going to be hard for Barca to agree on. Ousmane Dembele's contract with Barca is officially gone, though there have been increasing rumors that he will transfer over.

We are saddened to see Clement Lengelet leave Barca on loan to Tottenham, though clearly he no longer has a place on the team. He was a good player for us and we wish he had been able to match his great performances from 2018/2019.

Xavi’s DREAM Front 3: Raphina, Lewandowski, Fati? Is Dembele STAYING? Fati Injury Concerns?

The BarcaBreakdown discuss the news that Xavi’s desired front three is Raphina, Lewandowski, and Ansu Fati. After the economic levers were pulled by the socios last week, there is a chance we keep Dembele or get Raphina, get Lewandowski, and other options that will radically affect our starting lineup next season.

We discuss the worrying reports that Ansu Fair’s decision to not get surgery may mean he is still not 100%. Some within the club are worried, and Luis Enrique not using Fati for Spain was unexpected.

Dembele now seems to have no suitors for him, so FC Barcelona and Laporta have cut down their contract offer to him. Dembele seems upset and unwilling to sign the lowered contract, but we believe it is his agent's fault and he won't find a better offer.

Finally, we discuss Ferran Torres and whether he has a spot in the lineup if we get Lewandowski. With a new striker who can actually convert chances in Lewandowski, we believe he will be able to have a better showing in the coming season.

Messi Winning Ballon D’Or #8? Benzema Clear Favorite? Salah, Mane or Lewandowski Possible Winners?

The BarcaBreakdown discuss the possibile winners of the Ballon d’Or for the 2021/2022 season. Karim Benzema is the clear betting favorite after a tremendous season, including a La Liga victory and Champions League victory.

Among the other contenders for a top 3 finish are Liverpool’s Mo Salah and Sadie Mane. Both had a wonderful season with better goals/assists from Salah while Mane won the African Cup of Nations with Senegal. As is usual, Robert Lewandowski remains a threat with over 50 goals this season for Bayern Munich.

Unfortunately, it is not likely that any FC Barcelona player ranks high for the Ballon d’Or this season. Pedri was hurt for much of the year and Araujo was probably our second best player along with Dembele.

Barca Socios Approve HUGE Cash Injection with Economic Levers! Lewandowski, Kounde, and Raphina?

The Barca Breakdown discussed the extraordinary assembly gathered to vote on motions to inject money through the sale of 25% of TV rights and up to 49.9% stake of BLM. Both motions, or Levers as they called it, were approved by the Socios.

This means Barca will get around 700 million euros. It is enough money to bring them out of debt and even allow them to make some important signings I'm the 2022 summer transfer window! It is unfortunate that it is has come down to this, but the board must take action to fix the financial situation. Fortunately, there are actions they can take to take back the stakes at a later time which would not allow them to lose out in the future.

Speaking of the future, many Socios wished to remind the board that the money is for the future of the club, and to be careful with the spending as that is how Barca got into this situation in the first place. Hopefully careful spending will be upheld while Barca still being able to sign a striker like Lewandowski and maybe Kounde/Koulibaly. Barca are still in need of a LB and RB, so maybe a purchase there. Will this stop the possibility of Frenkie De Jong leaving to Manchester United?

Xavi Tells Pique That His Time At FC Barcelona Is OVER? What Are The Repercussions Of Losing Pique?

The Barca Breakdown discussed the rumors circulating that Xavi has told Pique that his time at FC Barcelona is over. Do these rumors have any foundation? There has been controversy surrounding Pique regarding his split from Shakira, but that cannot be the only reason. It is clear that he has faced some injuries at the end of the last season, however the sports outlets claim it is due to Pique being unfocused at Barca. Furthermore, Barcelona wants him to renounce his 40M Euros that he is owed to him for completing his contract in 2024.  If rumors are true, it could be dark days as the only back ups to Pique are Lengelet, Umtiti, and Mingueza. These players have not shown to be as good alongside Ronald Araujo. Erica Garcia would be the next choice, but his performance last season had too many major mistakes and he is unreliable. This would cause mayhem beginning next season and Barca may find themselves in another hole to dig themselves out of.  Aside from the current roster, the summer transfer window is an opportunity for Barca to back fill this spot. However, it is unlikely Kounde or Koulibaly will be coming to Barca as their price tags are too high and Barca is BROKE!!! So where does that leave Barca? If the rumors are true, more dark days are in our future. If they are not, Barca still has time to develop Eric Garcia into a solid defender while having Pique assist.

Di Maria TO BARCA? Dembele FINISHED at Barca? FC Barcelona Lewandowski’s ONLY CHOICE! Crazy Summer!

The Barca Breakdown discussed the inching reality of Dembele, clearly one of the best players FC Barcelona has to offer currently, will most likely not come to an agreement with the club. The continued talks over the last year have not seemed to improve. Dembele is receiving interest from Chelsea and PSG for a new contract this summer. As his contract with Barca expires summer 2022, we will not be able to sell him and use the cash injection for future players.... much like the debacle with Messi. It is really tragic that Barca cannot hold on to some of the best talent walking through the Camp Nou.

Reports are no further contact discussions will be taking place between the two parties. Interestingly enough, as one winger might be exiting, another winger just leaving PSG could be joining Barcelona. Di Maria made head lines when information suggested that Leo Messi recommended that Di Maria join Barcelona this summer. While there is not much backing the headline, Barca are in need of a bolstered roster. If the Argentinian could take some reduced wages, we could see the 35 year old winger find a place with the blaugrana. This would be a good move if Barca were to lose Dembele and Traore as our options are becoming increasingly limited.

Lastly, it seems the Lewandowski is making things clear. He has lost the passion to stay at Bayern Munich and wishes to join FC Barcelona. Information suggests that Lewy is only considering a move to Barca and ignoring all other options.

Are FC Barcelona BROKE? Can we sign Raphina, Kessie, Lewandowski & Christensen? Laportas Big Summer!

The BarcaBreakdown discuss the financial struggles for FC Barcelona, and how Laporta and the board may find revenue this summer. Unfortunately, as the season has ended, rumors are all around and many are speaking constantly about FC Barcelona's financial woes.

We do indeed need to rebalance our books, which is looking increasingly hard with players like Umtiti, Lengelet, and Braithwaite (among others) who do not want to end their contracts with Barca this summer. The board does have many options to increase our funding through the possible Tebas CVC Deal, selling our streaming/licensing rights, and other loan options. The BarcaBreakdown believe it is too early in the season to be constantly stressing. Laporta and the board have a weeks/months to make the adjustments necessary to get us in a better financial situation.

Frenkie De Jong to Manchester United? Are Rumors of Ten Hag’s Interest True, or Will Barca Keep FDJ?

The BarcaBreakdown discuss the beginning of a wild summer, with rumors swirling that Manchester United want to buy Frenkie De Jong as Frenkie himself reiterates his desire to stay for the club.

As Xavi, Laporta, and Frenkie have all come out in the last month reiterating the importance of Frenkie to Barca's new sporting project, it seems clear that the media and journalist are reporting any and every story for clicks. However, there may be some substance here, as Barca are clearly needing money to help sign and fund new players this summer. Though, the season just ended and FC Barcelona's current money situation will improve over the coming month as the Board learns how to best fund the new season.

The Barca Breakdown End The FC Barcelona Season In Spain: End Of Season Discussion & Trip Highlights
The Barca Breakdown traveled to Spain to watch the final two games of the season against Getafe and Villareal. Unfortunately, Barca were not able to score in either game and the performances were uninspiring. The environment of the Camp Nou was something you will not be able to feel at home through the TV. It was a beautiful experience and a joy just to be in the presence of the fans and vibe. There was not much to fight for as Barca had solidified their place in second, but it was sad to see so many players being uninspired on the pitch in the final two games. The team needs a lot of work and this seemed like a great opportunity to kick it into high gear and try some beautiful football. In the Getafe game there was at most one high light and the line-up was undesirable. No dembele and a backline of Mingueza and Lenglet. Then in the Villareal game, they just played poorly and let Villareal walk around them scoring two great goals. Hopefully this does not continue on into the next season.   The top highlights were Adam meeting Pedri at the F1 formula race and the tour of the Camp Nou. The tour really gave you a deep dive into the history of the team and how they have come to be so great over the last 120 years. With the first Champions League trophy from Ronald Koeman's free kick goal to the astounding careers of Pep, Ronaldinho, and Messi. Even a great history of the presidents/coaches of the club. It was a beautiful reminder of what FC Barcelona is about and hopefully we can return to some semblance of greatness in the coming years.

FC Barcelona v. Celta Vigo (3-1) Match Review: Dembele The ASSIST KING Delivers, Depay & Auba Score
The Barca Breakdown discussed the victory at the 3-1 Camp Nou against Celta Vigo. With Busquets out on a yellow card, Nico and Pedri injured, Xavi decided to not start our only midfielder Puig. Instead he opted for a 4 man attacking front with Ferran, Aubameyang, Dembele, and Depay, leaving Frenkie and Gavi to cover the midfield. The line-up made Adam and Yusef nervous as not having Busquets was bad, but not having 3 midfielders sounded even worse. It is interesting to note even though this was a difficult situation, Xavi still didn't decide to start Puig. This must say something regarding Xavi's trust in the midfielder. Is it time for Puig to make his leave and gain experience elsewhere?    Regardless, Barca started the first half a bit shaky as the team had to adjust with a missing midfielder. For the first 20 minutes Celta made some good attempts at goal, however they couldn't seem to finish. Once Barca adjusted, Dembele put on his jet engine boots and was flying around the pitch. He was able to drive down the right flank and dribble the ball into the right side of the box. He made a beautifully placed pass to the middle of the box where Depay was waiting. Depay shot immediately and scored the opening goal at 30'. Before the end of the first half Jordi Alba makes an over the top pass down to Depay on the left wing. Depay kicks the ball to the middle and the Celta defender is not able to control it. Aubameyang sneaks in and kicks the ball into the back of the net. Half time ends with Barca up 2-0.    Barca continued to press in the second half. At the 48' Auba makes a pass to Dembele. Dembele runs down the right flank with Auba running through the middle. Dembele gets the ball back to Auba who one touches the ball to take a 3-0 lead. Not 2 minutes later, Ter Stegen makes a terrible pass to Araujo. It was intercepted and Celta Vigo scored. Celta dropped to 10 min due to a bad foul at the top of the box. Not soon after Araujo Clashes heads with Gavi and is on the floor for several minutes. Reports are he was concussed and is recovering now and will be good. The last notable comment is that Frenkie De Jong, Eric Garcia, and Jordi Alba will all miss the next game against Getafe due to yellow card accumulation.   Barca Look to take on Getafe in Madrid this Sunday where Yusef and Adam will be live at the game! Real Betis v. FC Barcelona (1-2) Match Review: Fati & Alba Score To Solidify Champions League Spot
The Barca Breakdown discussed the victory in Seville against Real Betis. This was an important game as a victory here was going to solidify Barca's placement in the Champions League.    As the game was highly anticipated due to its importance, it left Barca fans biting their fingertips. The first half seemed totally disconnected and disorganized with Betis running around the Barca midfield. Despite a shaky half, Barca were able to hold betis off from scoring,    The second half was not much different in the first 15-20 minutes. However, Xavi replaced the whole attacking front and placed in Fati, Traore, Aubameyang. Not soon after FATIMANIA struck! Fati receives the ball at the top of the box. Quickly three defenders step in front of him and he fires the ball to the left side and the goalie had no chance. The ball goes in and Barca scores the opening goal.    Unfortunately, Real Betis' Bartra scored a header when he received the ball from a free kick. The game was even and the hopes of winning three points declined. There was not much potential; however in the 90 +4' Dani Alves crossed the ball to Jordi Alba. Alba immediately strikes the ball right over top of the goalie and the game is over! Barca Secured 3 points and their placement in the Champions League. Additionally, this gives more hope to the possibility of retaining 2nd place which would earn them 6 Million Euros for their admission in the Supercopa.    There is still much work to do as many problems have been seen over the last few weeks. We at least get to celebrate what we have now to hold onto.

Real Betis Prematch Video-Will Barca Sign Koulibaly? Will Mbappe Go to Madrid or Stay at PSG?

The Barca Breakdown discussed the upcoming match Real Betis in Seville. There is a lot to be won if Barca can defeat Betis. Not only are Betis 3 points behind Atletico Madrid for the 5th spot in the table, but Sevilla are only 2 points behind Barca fighting for the second place spot. With Real Madrid already securing the title, Barca need this win in hopes to maintain their Supercopa chances.

However, in the last meeting Barca were defeated at the Camp Nou 0-1 with Juanmi scoring. It is important to remember this game was Xavi's fourth game after becoming the Manager and the team was struggling. That game Barca were playing Abde, Jutgla, and Depay upfront with Busquets, Nico, and Gavi. This was a less than ideal line-up and things really changed when Barca acquired Aubameyang, Traore, and Ferran Torres. There was also the drama of Ousmane Dembele who was not getting play time due to the contract negotiations. Now the Barca team is different and a new story can be written. The recent performances however have really seen Barca struggle against sub tier teams. Alongside the injuries to Pique and Pedri, Frenkie De Jong has also been struggling in the midfield and his frustration is clear. To be fair, there is a lot happening and his performances may be due to the other surrounding issues limiting his abilities. Lastly, with the return of Ansu Fati, it could be what Barca need if they are struggling in the second half. It is unlikely that Xavi will start the youngster as he is just getting back from his injuries and it would be unwise to rerisk injury.

FC Barcelona v. Mallorca Match Review (2-1): Fati RETURNS & Depay and Busquets Score Securing 3 Pts.
The Barca Breakdown discussed 3 points that were secured in match day 34 against Mallorca at the Camp Nou. With Dembele feeling under the weather, Xavi chose to start Depay on the left and moved Ferran Torres to the right wing. Of course, Pedri is out so Gavi started alongside Frenkie and Busi. In the back line, Pique started with Ronald Araujo, Jordi Alba, and Dani Alves.    The first half was pretty lackluster and disorganized. A few breaks from Mallorca could have easily been scored, but their team was not clinical. It didn't seem too promising until Jordi Alba placed a ball over the top for Memphis Depay. He was able to control the ball and score to take Barca 1-0. The half ended with much improvement to be desired.    In the second half Barca really turned up the tempo, constantly attacking Mallorca. In the 54' Ferran Torres' shot gets blocked and Busquets picks up the ball. He shoots off his left foot into the right corner of the net and Barca are up 2-0. Fati and Dembele are subbed on for Aubameyang and Ferran Torres. Immediately, Barca shut down. Mallorca continues to attack on counters, and eventually earn a free kick. The ball goes over the top of the Barca line and straight at an open Raillo. The ball deflects off his knee and makes it past Stegen... 2-1. The match ends with Barca hanging on by a thread to their 3 points.    Luckily, Atletico Madrid and Sevilla dropped points this week. Barca look to take on Real Betis on Saturday.

FC Barcelona v Rayo Vallecano (0-1) Match Review: Xavi’s Barca Lose 3rd Consecutive Game at Camp Nou
The Barca Breakdown discussed the atrocious loss at the Camp Nou against Rayo Vallecano. For the first time in history, Rayo has defeated FC Barcelona 2 times in a season. Xavi deployed the usual starters excluding Pedri due to injury. To think the team that defeated Real Madrid at the Bernabeu 0-4, has just lost 3 consecutive games at home. After losing to Frankfurt, Cadiz, and now Rayo, Barcelona find themselves at a strong potential to lose their top four standing.    Heading into the first half Barca were terrible. Passing was slow, off target, and poor in transition. Right at the 6' Rayo's Garcia receives the ball on where there are no players but a distant Dest. He takes a quick shot at Stegen;s near post and scores. Stegen did an awful job and that was Rayo's first and only shot in 90+ minutes. Barca could not recover for 113 minutes and score an equalizer.    The only good players on the pitch were Gavi and Dembele. Who were close to scoring but could not finish. It seems this is the story of Barca in their recent matches. Their play is slow and predictable with possession for possession's sake. It resembled Koeman right before he got sacked. Barca only attempted offensive play with crosses that lacked any potential.    There is much to say that the players looked fatigued and uninspired. Clearly underperforming; however, Xavi has a lot to do tactically to bring the team back into form to maintain a possible Champions League spot.

FC Barcelona v Cadiz Match Review (0-1): Barca Defeated at Camp Nou After 3 Month Unbeaten Streak
The Barca Breakdown discussed the defeat at the Camp Nou which ended Xavi's 3 month unbeaten streak. After a tough loss at home against Frankfurt, Barca played Cadiz. Normally, a team fighting relegation in 18th place would not cause such an upset; however it seems things are catching up to Barca. Xavi has not been able to rotate players enough causing tired legs and injuries after returning from the international break. Pique and Pedri were out due to injury and Araujo was suspended due to yellow card accumulation. With these players out, we had Lenglet play alongside Eric Garcia and Gavi in the Midfield. As Aubameyang has yet to return to his goal scoring form (having also played many minutes since coming to Barca), Depay had his first start since returning from his calf injury. This line-up didn't seem out of question, although the results spoke for themselves. Barca were not able to create any effective opportunities on goal and the defense was weak. It only took one counter for Cadiz to score.    It seems that Xavi's tactics have become predictable as the ball moves to the wings constantly and attempts to cross fall into the void. Moving the ball through the middle and any buildup is nonexistent. Many teams including Cadiz formed a strong defense against us and forced the counter. Barca stood no chance with slow, uneventful possession and they paid for it with a loss.    FC Barcelona continue their fight to maintain top 4 in La Liga. With a lul of play, predictable tactics, and tired/injured players we look at the possibility of dropping to 5 or lower if we cannot defeat Real Socidad on Thursday and Real Betis in May.

FC Barcelona v Frankfurt Match Review (2-3): Xavi’s Squad Breakdown and Knocked Out Of Europa League
The Barca Breakdown discussed the breakdown of Xavi's squads in the second leg against Frankfurt at the Camp Nou. Another big match in Europe where Barca were knocked out of the Europa League in a terrible performance. First and foremost, we think Xavi deployed a less than ideal starting XI with Minguza as RB and Gavi in for Frenkie De Jong. Even though we consider Aubameyang and Ferran Torres as regular starters, we believe after such poor performances from the duo that Xavi needed to try a different line-up. Despite what we thought, Barca came out in the first few minutes with an absurd foul from Eric Garcia. 3 minutes into the game and Frankfurt had gotten a penalty. Kostic converted to take the game to a 0-1 lead. Frankfurt continued to play aggressively, shutting down Barca's midfield and nurturing the wings. The mayhem did not cease as a screaming shot from Borre slammed into the back of the net taking them 0-2. The half ends and Barca leave the pitch defeated.    The second half begins and Xavi makes 1 change by taking out Pedri, due to injury, and putting in FDJ. Things continue to look grim as Barca can't create almost any shots on goal and the chances that are created fall flat. In the 67' Kostic was able to shoot from the left side and scored in the right corner. Frankfurt's 0-3 lead practically sealed the game. However, deep into the second half (90+1') Segio Busquets put away a goal. Barca did not let up there, with Memphis Depay, who came in for Torres, was able to convert a penalty which was drawn by Luuk De Jong. Barca are able to get 2 goals, but FT is called and Barca are officially out of all major European competitions.    Barca fans all around the world are left in shock as Barca cannot seem to compete in European competitions. Where does that leave us? Well, FC Barcelona are second in La Liga and still trail behind Real MAdrid by 12 points. Barca face off against Cadiz this coming Monday at the Camp Nou. Can Xavi compete for the La Liga title?

Levante v. FC Barcelona (2-3) Match Review: HEROES Pedri, Luuk De Jong, Stegen & Auba Secure 3 Points
The Barca Breakdown discussed Matchday 31 where FC Barcelona faced off against the near relegated Levante.    Notable changes Xavi employed were Nico in for Pedri and Araujo for Pique. The first half began with an awful performance. It seemed Barca had lost the fundamentals with passing off the mark and the lack of an ability to open the pitch. This was also exacerbated with Levantes keen defense and great man marking. While the frustration of the first half was overwhelming, Barca were able to hold on to a 0-0 outcome with the help of Ter Stegen, Eric Garcia, and Araujo.    Coming into the second half, Xavi didn't make any immediate subs and the chaos ensued. A penalty was called against Barca and Levante scored to take the lead. Xavi made a switch to the midfield and put in Pedri and Gavi. Immediately the game changes. Dembele crosses the ball into Aubameyang and the header goes in to equalize! Soon after Levante got a second penalty and Ter Stegen made a huge save.    The young duo strike; Gavi is able to pass the ball into Pedri who takes a 1 touch shot and TAKES THE LEAD! Barca are up 1-2. Lenglet gets subbed in and fouls causing a 3rd penalty. Levante score and equalize.    As a last chance sub, Xavi places in Traore and Luuk De Jong. In the 90' + 2 minute Alba crosses the ball into Luuk and a game winning header flies into the net! Barca are VICTORIOUS!    The Breakdown look forward to the second leg against Frankfurt on Thursday!

Frankfurt v. FC Barcelona Match Review (1-1): Ferran Torres EQUALIZES In First Leg of Quarterfinals
The Barca Breakdown discussed the first leg of the quarterfinals of the Europa League where FC Barcelona faced off in Germany against Eintracht Frankfurt. With Europa League most likely being Barca's only chance at a trophy this season, Xavi would have to prioritize the win in today's game. However, it seemed Xavi chose to rest some big players in the match. We saw Dembele and Frenkie De Jong on the bench for Traore and Gavi. Additionally, Pedri played on the pitch as a RCM and Gavi played as the LCM. Of course with the unregistered Dani Alves and injured Dest, Araujo slotted in the RB position. Our other two attackers were Aubameyang and Ferran Torres.   Coming into the game Barca seemed to be playing with their foot on the gas. This doesn't mean they were doing it too well. Barca seemed chaotic, disheveled, off key, and did not control the pitch. Frankfurt took advantage and were aggressive. The first half left barca heavily on the defense fighting to prevent Frankfurt from scoring.   The beginning of the second half didn't change all too much. Xavi finally made some subs in the 60' and put in Frenkie and Dembele. Immediately it had an effect and Barca were able to score with some interplay with Ferran Torres. Barca leave the game in a draw with the hopes the following leg will be a different result. The Breakdown looks forward to facing off against Levante in which we discuss who should be rested and what our expectations are.

FC Barcelona v. Sevilla (1-0) Match Review: Pedri STRIKES Again! Taking Down Best Defense in La Liga
The Barca Breakdown discussed the return from the international break to face off against Sevilla. While we feared the possibility of Barca falling into the luls of returning from the international break, Xavi's men were ready to fight. The first half had a solid 25 minutes of moving the ball forward to create chances. However, as we saw during the game, Barca's performance went through many peaks and troughs. Dembele was continuously crossing the ball into the middle to create chances for ferran torres and Frenkie De Jong. Although, like Torres has typically played, he couldn't score, missing some big opportunities. Xavi's Barca really held strong in the defense and midfield, snubbing out any Sevilla chances with the help of Pique, Araujo, and Alba and controlling the ball. It is to say Aubameyang was having a quiet game as well.    During the second half Sevilla had a few opportunities but failed to convert. During this time Barca were in a trough of performance, losing the ball and control. All out it changed in the 60-65' when Barca were reignited. Barca seemed to be playing much more aggressively and looking to score. It all came together when dembele passed to Pedri who spectacularly made two Sevilla defenders stumble in front of him. Hecreated the space and took a wonderful shot straight into the back of the neck right past Bono. Pedri, the 19 year old golden boy scored the game winning goal against Sevilla to bring Barca into second place on the La Liga table.    All facts considered this game had a wonderful result and the Barca Breakdown is excited coming into the Europa League game against Frankfurt on Thursday.

FC Barcelona vs. Sevilla Pre-Match Video! How Will Xavi’s Barca End La Liga? Will Dembele Stay?

The Barca Breakdown discuss the Sevilla La Liga match coming up as the 2nd and 3rd teams face off. Coming off the international break, we hope Xavi is able to recreate the magic we were seeing from the team, culminating in the 0-4 victory against Real Madrid in El Clasico.

There are some interesting storylines for FC Barcelona as as the season comes to a close. Firstly, Ousmane Dembele and Barca are reportedly in talks again about signing a contract renewal. Sergino Dest being injured as well as Eric Garcia's string of good performances will place an interesting dynamic on the right back position. Will we see Ronald Araujo continue to play there? Or will Dani Alves get a majority of the playtime?

With many games in April, we are hoping to see Xavi utilize rotations well to keep everyone healthy. With Gavi, Nico, Lengelet, Depay, Luuk De Jong, Adama Traore, and more on the bench, we are well-positioned to keep players healthy with the incredible depth FC Barcelona have.

Real Madrid 0-4 FC Barcelona Match Review: El Clasico DOMINATION by Xavi’s Barca!

The Barca Breakdown discussed the utter DOMINATION as FC Barcelona won with 4 away goals against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu. Aubamayeng, Ferran Torres, Araujo all scored, with Ousmane Dembele getting 2 assists.

Though Real Madrid came out with a bit of resistance early, Carlo Ancelloti’s men were thoroughly outclassed by Xavi’s Barca, with free movement and beautiful passing throughout the game. Busquets, Frenkie De Jong, and Pedri were wonderful in the midfield, against a Real Madrid team that seemed to have no passion or interest in competing.

Having Araujo covering for Dest in the right back position completely shut down Vinicius Junior. Additionally, having Osuamne Dembele placed on the right wing to connect with Aubameyang was a recipe for destruction. Dembele’s crosses were on point leading to the first goal which was placed in the back of the net by Aubameyang. Then A corner from Dembele flys in to the head of Araujo making it 0-2.

Typically we expect things to change coming into the second half, however, Ferran Torres immediately opened the half with a missed shot on goal. Soon after Torres came back with an assist from Aubameyang and smashed one to the top right corner. The mayhem didn’t end there as Aubameyang got a ball back from Torres and went straight over the top of Courtois.

Xavi’s Barca came out with fire and completely dominated the table leaders and this game has really shown how far Barca really have come.

Shout-out to Erica Garcia and the midfield of Frenkie, Busquets, and PEdri who decimated the Real Madrid midfield of Modric, Kroos, Casamiro. Barca has the international break coming up and will be looking forward to continuing the run in La Liga and heading into the Quarters of the Europa League.

Galatasaray v. FC Barcelona (1-2): Pedri STRIKES In Istanbul, Frenkie and Aubameyang Secure Quarters
The Barca Breakdown discussed the victory in Istanbul against Galatasaray to carry them through to the Quarter Finals. Barca were tied coming into the second leg on a 0-0 aggregate. Xavi decided to deploy Erica Garcia in place of Ronald Araujo alongside Pique, Dest, and Alba. In the midfield we had Frenki, Busquets, and Pedri. Lastly in the front Aubameyang, Torres, and Traore.   The first half found Barca struggling to connect passes as well as they were susceptible to counter attacks. Even though Frenkie De Jong had an early opportunity in the 9' Barca were not looking good. On a set piece, Galatasaray were able to score a flying header past Ter Stegen to take them up 1-0. Barca took some time, but their defense closed down and were able to stop further breakaways. This allowed Barca to control the pitch.    In a fantastic display of skill and patience, Pedri was set in front of goal with defenders and Pena. He faked the defenders and smashed a ball past Pena, scoring the equalizer. This was the spark Barca needed coming into the second half. As we always say we look to have Xavi make subs when things need adjustment. Dembele came on at the start of the second, half in for Traore. Fast forward, a shot from Torres was blocked and came off to fall for Frenkie who placed it beautifully in front of Aubameyang. Barca took the lead 1-2!    While Barca move to the quarters, we are left with an injured Dest and a possible doubt of Pique playing in El Clasico. A victory against the rivals would be glorious! But what will happen if these important players are injured?

FC Barcelona 4-0 Osasuna Match Review: Ferran Torres BRACE! Dembele BEAUTIFUL Assists! Puig Goal!

The BarcaBreakdown discuss the 4-0 victory of FC Barcelona over Osasuna. Two goals from Ferran Torres, one from Aubamayeng, and one from Riqui Puig helped FC Barcelona dominated Osasuna in La Liga, and gain retribution for the draw vs. Osasuna earlier in the season.

Ousmane Dembele turned in an inspiring performance, with two great assists to Torres and Aubamayeng in the first half. The midfield of Pedri, Gavi and Busquets once again provided some magic, helping facilitate and control the game. After a rough game against Galatasaray in the first leg of the Europa League, Barca needed a statement victory to continue their undefeated streak and excite the team ahead of the second Europa leg and Clasico in the week to come.

The Camp Nou was enthralled by the brilliant football played by Xavi's men. The team continues to perform and impress in La Liga. The hope is that the team can go to Turkey this Thursday and continue on in the Europa League.

FC Barcelona v. Galatasaray 0-0 Match Review: Barca Fail To Score at the Camp Nou in Round of 16

The Barca Breakdown discussed the match of FC Barcelona v. Galatasaray in the Round of 16 of the Europa League. Barca came off a narrow victory against Elche over the weekend and the Breakdown hoped Barca would come back full throttle. Although, with our first impression of Xavi's line-up we were left a little uneasy. We saw Memphis Depay's first start since his injury in front with Ferran Torres and Traore. In the midfield, Nico started since Gavi was suspended with yellow cards alongside PEdri and FDJ. In the backline Alba stood with Eric Garcia, Araujo, and Dest. In the first half, Barca dominated possession and had a few chances on goal. However, Galatasaray created quite a few chances on the counter. Overall the first half was a bag full of mixed feelings and changes were needed. Xavi deployed Dembele, Busquets, and Pique for Torres, Nico, and Araujo which was a hopeful sight at the start of the second half. As the game progressed it seemed evident that Barca were not going to Score. Opportunities were left flat and crosses unmarked. Galatasaray maintained their defense and parked the bus in hopes of maintaining a clean sheet. They were successful. The final score leaves neither team with an advantage for the second leg. In the Breakdown's opinion, Barca were just not good enough. We look forward to the weekend game against Osasuna in hope that Barca are revamped and can score a solid 3 points for the table!

Elche v. FC Barcelona (1-2) Match Review: Xavi’s Substitutes Torres & Memphis Secure +3 Liga Points
The Barca Breakdown discussed the Barca victory against Elche to secure 3 points and 3rd place on the table. Xavi deployed Gavi as the leff wing, Dembele on the right wing, and Dani Alves as right back. We questioned the use of Gavi on the left especially after a lackluster and uninvolved performance. We were excited to see Dembele start but his presence didn't seem to create much.   Unfortunately, Elche took advantage of the slow and old Dani Alves on the right back which resulted in the first goal of the game right before the end of the first half. We were happy to see Xavi make a substitute at the beginning of the second half and place Torres in for Gavi. Several times Torres was in great positions to score but could not capitalize. Finally, Alba kicks it forward and Torres taps in the ball for the equalizer.   Xavi subbed in Traore for Dembele and Memphis for Aubameyang. Later in the ~80' Memphis draws a penalty which is wonderfully scored and takes Barca to lead and win the 3 points.Fortunately, Ter Stegen was able to make multiple saves to keep their lead.    Lastly, the Breakdown discussed the upcoming Europa League game against Galatasaray and changes we want to see.

HALAAND TO BARCA? Pablo Torre Signed, Traore Buy Option & Koeman’s Comments Of Laporta

The Barca Breakdown discussed the possible signing of Erling Haaland for 5 years on a 190M Euro deal. With the possibility of the CVC deal and the need for a great striker at FC Barcelona, Laporta wants to obtain Haaland possibly this summer. Many Barca fans want to see this especially after the inevitable signing of Mbappe to Real Madrid. Barca officially have signed Pablo Torre to Barca as a young midfielder from Real Sporting. A purchase that beat out Real Madrid and continues to bolster the midfield. The Breakdown questioned the focus of Laporta on the midfield of Barcelona. Recently, Ronald has been outspoken on the unfairness he believes he received before departing Barcelona. His comments highlight Laporta's distrust in Koeman, his preference in Xavi, his lack in arsenal, and the questionable leave of Lionel Mesi. Lastly, should FC Barcelona choose to purchase Adama Traore? With the possibility of Dembele leaving this summer, it could be a good move from Barca.

FC Barcelona v. Athletic Bilbao (4-0): Xavi Ball - Aubameyang Scores & Dembele Masterful Performance
The Barca Breakdown discussed the third victory in a row under the full throttle Xavi ball. Barca met Atheltic Bilbao at the Camp Nou, who knocked us out of the Copa Del Rey. Barca were also 2 games in hand and 4 points behind Betis on the table. Needless to say, this game was extremely important as Barca haven't been able to take advantage of these kinds of situations in recent history. Notable players on the pitch were Dest in place of Alba, Dani Alves as right back, and Gavi in for FDJ with Busquets and Pedri.   Nonetheless, Barca came out dominating possession and pressing high in Bilbao's side of the pitch. Traore was able to win a corner around the 35'. The corner comes in and Pique headers the ball off the post. Luckily, Aubameyang was in a perfect position to put the shot away. Barca take the lead and the half ends 1-0. Barca continued to play a wonderfully defensive game which kept Bilbao at bay.    The game really took off offensively when Ousmane Dembele came onto the pitch with Frenkie De Jong. Not soon after Dembele puts one away with his left foot. Then Luuk De Jong and Memphis came onto the pitch. Moments later, Dembele crosses the ball and LDJ headers it, 3-0! To completely destroy Bilbao, Dembele crosses again and Depay slides in to make it 4-0.    This Put Barca 1 point behind Betis with a game in hand. Barca are rising and there's plenty of room to keep climbing!

Napoli v. FC Barcelona (2-4):Alba/Frenkie/Pique/Aubameyang Share Glorious Europa League Masterclass
The Barca Breakdown discussed the victory in the second leg of the Europa League against Napoli. In a wonderful performance, Barca seemed to have united in an international game looking for glory. Xavi deployed our January signings Torres, Aubameyang, and Traore in the attack. In the midfield, we had Busquets, Frenkie, and Pedri. Lastly our defensive backline, Alba, Pique, Aurajo, and Dest.    The game began and Barca came out firing. An early counter from Aubameyang to Traore, Traore to Alba, and we had our opener. Barca seemed to have been reawakened. Frenkie placed a Messi-esque and effortless goal to take Barca up 0-2. Unfortunately Stegen made a bad call, and Napoli received and scored a Penalty. El Presidente, Pique wasn't having it. He took the game 1-3 before half time! Before the game's end, Aubameyang scored and Napoli capitalized on making it 2-4. The game ended while joy and Barce were through to the next round.    The game was the beautiful football of Barcelona that we have all missed especially since Messi left. With the victories against Atletico, Valencia, and Napoli all ending with Barca scoring 4 goals, things seem to be working for Xavi's Barcelona. Although, there is still a lot to work on and we have a big game coming soon. The Europa League is far from over and La Liga is just heating up. Barca head into the weekend to play Athletic Bilbao on Sunday at the Camp Nou.

FC Barcelona v. Napoli Second Leg Match Preview - Will Xavi Overcome Napoli With Dembele or Torres?

The Barca Breakdown discussed the upcoming game of FC Barcelona vs. Napoli in the second leg of the Europa League.

After a very winnable first leg and the victory against Valencia over the weekend, it leaves the Breakdown feeling very hopeful that Barca can progress. There are a few changes that need to be made to solidify the victory.

We discussed the lineup in the first leg and what changes Xavi needs to make. Namely, Dembele needs to start this game in place of Ferran Torres. Furthermore, Dest should start over Mingueza, Araujo over Garcia, and Busquets to not start the game. While Torres gave us many possibilities in the Napoli game, he was not clinical and he has disappeared in many other games.

If adjustments need to be made in the game, we suggest that Dembele and Traoré as the wingman and sub off Aubameyang for Luuk De Jong if we need a late winner. The young Barca squad must visualize this game a final and the only hopes in winning a trophy this season!

Valencia v. FC Barcelona (1-4): Aubameyang Hat Trick Crushes Valencia With Help of Dembele & Pedri
The Barca Breakdown discussed the wonderful performance against Valencia at the Mestalla. Prior to this game Barce were 6th on the table behind Villareal and Atletico Madrid who both won their games. However, Barca had 2 games in hand in this case. With today's victory, Barca are replaced in 4th tied with Atletico with a game in hand.    First and foremost, Xavi deployed Dembele on the left wing, which we have been saying for weeks now, with Aubameyang and Ferran Torres. We saw Pedri get some rest as Busquets started and Araujo returned with Pique out due to yellow card accumulation.    A wonderful first half saw Barca up 0-3 with two goals from Aubameyang and one from FDJ. The First goal came over the top from Alba to the feet of Aubameyang, who wonderfully put it away. Then Dembele crossed it in to FDJ who slid in for 0-2. Lastly, Dembele cuts it to Gavi and a quick pass to Aubameyang; 0-3!    Coming into the second half, Garcia left the pitch on injury and Mingueza came on. Barca control on the ball started to drop and Valencia capitalized and made it 1-3. It didn't matter, Pedri shoots a screamer and it deflects off of Aubameyang and makes it 1-4. The ref awarded the goal to Aubameyang giving him the hat trick. A wonderful game giving us some good hope coming into Napoli on Thursday.

FC Barcelona v. Napoli (1-1): Torres Penalty Isn’t Adequate Enough In Xavi’s Europa League Opener

The Barca Breakdown discussed the draw between Barcelona and Napoli in the Europa League. Coming into the game, Barca knew this would not be an easy game facing the 3rd place Italians. Although, with the acquisition of Ferran Torres, Adama Traore, Aubamayeng, and the recent performances, we had high hopes. The line up left fans with some surprises as Busquets and Gavi didn't start and we saw Minguza for Dest, Nico in the Midfield, and a trio of Aubamayeng, Torres, and Traore in the front.

The game was very pleasing with many chances and beautiful play. However, Barca fell asleep for one instance and Napoli took advantage with a goal in the 29'. Barca didn't quit, or really Torres didn't quit.

Shot after shot Torres skied many great opportunities leaving Barca in a race against the clock. Finally in the 59' Traore gets a penalty drawn and Torres takes charge and equalizes. More and more opportunities fell for Torres but he could not convert. Barca ended the game with 20 shots and only 4 on target. Now the results do not match the performance that we saw.

Barca performed beautifully and even had Dembele and Luuk De Jong come in later in the game to try and score a late goal. While we loved the idea of Traore, Dembele, and LDJ, we commented again on the fact that LDJ only got 10 minutes of play and Dembele around 25. It must be said that Xavi needs to put subs on earlier so that Barca have a chance to take the lead.

Espanyol v. FC Barcelona (2-2): Pedri Goal, Araujo Injured, & LDJ Saves 1 Point After Garcia Blunder

The Barca Breakdown discussed the chaotic Catalan Derby draw! With Dani Alves out with a red card in the Atletico Madrid game, we saw the same line up but with Dest in the back right. Barca opened the game in the 2' minute with a cross from Alba and Pedri scoring with one touch.

As the game progressed, Barca slowly began to allow many opportunities and shots from Espanyol. This resulted in a goal from Darder to end the first half. The second half began with Araujo on the bench due to an injury incurred in the first half which had Eric Garcia make his first appearance in a month.

With Busquets not able to uphold a top tier performance through the second half, Barca began on the defense. An extremely awful decision by Erica Garcia kept De Tomas on side, Ter Stegen was left one on one with De Tomas. De Tomas smashed the ball past Stegen Taking Espanyol up, 2-1. Xavi chose to put Dembele, Aubameyang, Traore, and Ferran Torres in the front line late in the game. This was pretty questionable because he took out FDJ and left the poor performing Busquests in the game. The mid field wasn't able to push the ball down the middle very well and relied on the wings to cross the ball in. Xavi chose to put in LDJ late in the game. I

t proved the equalizer when Traore crossed the ball and LDJ headed it in. Overall a very concerning performance and Xavi needs to improve on his decision making. This leaves us tied in 4th with Atletico Madrid and looking forward to NApoli midweek and Valencia after. Although, Barca will possibly missing Araujo against Napoli and Pique, due to a red card for Valencia.

FC Barcelona 4-2 Atletico Madrid Match Review: WONDERFUL Performance! Traore, Alves Deliver Top Four

The BarcaBreakdown discusses the huge 4-2 victory for FC Barcelona versus Atletico Madrid, in a huge match for the La Liga top four race. Huge goals by Jordi Alba, Gavi, Araujo, and Dani Alves helped FC Barcelona win against Atletico Madrid for the first time since December 2019. Though Atletico had a second half goal and looked to be in the advantage with Dani Alves’ red card, Barca stood strong and were able to weather the storm. Overall, a very huge performance for Xavi with winter signings Aubameyang, Ferran Torres, and Traore.

Barca were able to press the attack constantly in the first half despite going down 0-1 early. They finished the first half 3-1 which Barca couldn’t even score in the entire 90’ in their last meeting. On the flip side, Barca were still susceptible to corners which proved to be lethal from Atletico for their second goal. Xavi was still able to deploy a threatening game, good tactical fluid play, and subs at appropriate times.

This leaves Barca in a wonderful position at 4th on the La Liga table 2 points above Atletico and 2 behind Real Betis. However this places us in the Running for the Champions League!!

The Catalyan Derby awaits Barca next week against Espanyol.

Barcelona Transfer News: Traore (Loan), Torres, & Aubameyang (Loan) Join Barca In The Winter Window

The Barca Breakdown discussed the closing of the winter transfer window. While Barca could not offload Ousmane Dembele for some quick cash, Laporta and sporting director Alemany were able to accomplish some large feats despite the money issues plaguing the team.

Firstly, Barca were able to sign Ferran Torres for about 50 million Euros, offload Coutinho on Loan to Aston Villa, and had Umtiti defer his payments over a longer period. But the biggest news is that Barca were able to acquire, on loan, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Adama Traore from Arsenal and Wolves, respectively. This could help Barca with their hard time of scoring especially in big games.

However, Barca needs Xavi to rotate players to really maximize all the potential. The one failure of the window was that we failed to get a right back to back up Jordi Alba or a center back in place of Pique/Garcia/Umtiti.

We look forward to the Atletico Madrid game on Sunday! Please like, comment and subscribe to our channel!

Dembele To CHELSEA?? Fati Opts Out Of Surgery, 8 Weeks Rehab! Araujo REJECTS Contract Extension
The Barca Breakdown discuss recent news as Dembele's agent's meeting with Chelsea to strike a deal. Reports are that the negotiation did not go particularly well and Dembele is asking to speak to Laporta directly in hopes of staying. While these are rumors, there could be some validity knowing that Dembele's agent would be asking for a large payout. The world also knows that Demebel has had his fair share of injuries. Will Dembele be able to strike a deal with Laporta and stay at Barca or will his agent be successful and strike a deal and make a move to England?    In other important news, Fati, who re-injured his knee against Athletic Bilbao, has opted out of surgery. He has chosen a more conservative approach and will be available at a sooner date. We discuss the pros and cons of each decision and understand how one could make either decision based on the circumstance.   Speaking of players possibly leaving, Ronald Araujo has rejected the first proposal by Barca in regards to a contract extension. It is thought that the contract did not offer enough to the largely sought after CB. Barca will have to come back to the drawing board and make an enticing offer to keep the CB if they don't want to lose him to the Premier League. Now we don't think he will leave easily since it seems Araujo loves Barca and wants to continue performing well for the club.    Lastly, we mention the rumors of the Pique/Messi fallout as Pique was not present at a dinner with Xavi, Busquets, and Alba.

Alaves v. Barcelona Match Review (0-1): Frenkie Scores Game Winner In Lethargic Koeman-Like Style
The Barca Breakdown discussed a narrowly won Barcelona performance against Deportivo Alaves. In the attacking front we saw Abde, Torres, and Luuk De Jong. Xavi started Frenkie De Jong in the midfield in place of Gavi (out due to red card against Granada) alongside Busquets and Pedri. And in the back we finally see the return of Dest with Araujo, Pique, and Jordi Alba.    It's hard to imagine Barca playing in such a lethargic, slow, and utterly uninteresting game against the 19th team on the table. Yet a late goal by Frenkie was the highlight of the 90 minutes. Other than that moment, Barca performed like a bottom tier team against a team facing relegation.   Xavi made incredibly late subs (first in the 71') when clearly his strategies on the pitch in the first 70' were not working whatsoever. The Breakdown questions how Xavi didn't implement changes to boost the energy of Barca (clearly the choice should have been Dembele). Of course Xavi started Alba, Busi, and Pique playing them another 90'.   In two weeks Barca will play Atletico Madrid, who are 1 point ahead of Barca and played the same games. After the performance in the Copa Del Rey against Athletic Bilbao and Alaves, Barca have almost zero chance of winning that game to take 4th on the table.

Athletic Bilbao v. Barcelona Match Review: Xavi’s Barca Are Susceptible And The Back Line Is Old
The Barca Breakdown discussed another tough loss in a big game. In the Round of 16 of the Copa Del Rey Barca were knocked out by Athletic Bilbao who just lost in the Supercopa against Real Madrid. Seeing as the Barca Breakdown have believed Barca were on a small upswing this game has really highlighted the teams deficiencies.    First and foremost, the Barca backline is old and slow. We constantly have Dani Alves, Busquets, and Jordi Alba playing defense against some of the fastest players on the pitch and time and time again they fail to keep up and prevent counters. Of course we can say that these players are old and under performing to the caliber they once had, but who is really to blame? It is clear and obvious these players are old, but we see them time and time again playing a full 90 minutes on the pitch and constantly let us down. Xavi is clearly choosing to start the players and not making tactical decisions to minimize or account for the players deficiencies. Furthemore, it seems we lack the strategies to prevent being susceptible to counters and set pieces which have resulted in many goals against the Blaugrana.    With the benching of Ousmane Dembele, due to his lack of contract agreement, Barca were left to head the game with Abde, Jutgla, and Ferran Torres. Essentially, all three were non-existent in the front attack and really lacked creativity and open space to press. This could have also been a result of the fact that Barca could not keep Bilbao out of their half for most of the game.    Only a few players were a delight to watch, the top three being Ronald Araujo, Pedri, and Marc Andre Ter Stegen. Barca have a lot of work to do, but It needs to be orchestrated by Xavi to realize his vision and Barca success.

Barcelona v Real Madrid (2-3) SuperCopa Review: FATI & PEDRI Return in Cataclysmic El Clasico Clash

The Barca Breakdown discussed the El Clasico of the Supercopa! While Barcelona could not take a victory here and progress to the final on Sunday, there are many great takeaways from this game. First and foremost, we saw the return of the very anticipated Ansu Fati and Pedri. Fati came in off the bench and was able to secure Barcelona's second goal to force overtime of the game. What was truly wonderful was watching Barcelona operate with such relentless vigor when going down a goal throughout the whole game. Two key players exhibiting our unending fight to win was Ousmane Dembele and Luuk De Jong who both were non-stop creating chances and making attempts on goal. On the defensive side we must highlight the studly performances of Ronald Araujo and Gerard Pique who protect the net on several accounts despite Barca allowing 3 goals. This margin could have been much higher. Although, as the Breakdown saw some great moments in this spectacular game, we must highlight our deficiencies. Overall the Barca defense was not good enough to prevent 3 goals from the ferocity and speed of the Real Madrid attacking force. As we have said many times, the Barca defense has much work to do in goal prevention. Not only does the defense need to spruce up, but Barcelona cannot be careless with the ball leading up to the countless counter attacks from Madrid. This game was winnable, but we were full of countless mistakes leading to our demise. While the players clearly have improvements to make, Xavi as coach needs more time. His substitutes for this game worked out overall. We do criticize the fact the busquets did not come off after a bad giveaway and that Depay had no play coming into this game. Overall we can say there is great promise after a game like this and the team has been showing leaps forward in improvement. We hope it is in time to seal a top 4 spot in La Liga so that we can make Champions League next season. Twitter: Instagram: Listen to our podcast on Spotify or Apple/Itunes Podcast. Granada vs. FC Barcelona (1-1) Match Review: LDJ Header, Gavi Blunders, & Chance for 3rd Place Lost

The Barca Breakdown discussed a tough draw against Granada CF in their first La Liga match of the new year and first match of the second half of the season. This was Barca's opportunity to take 3rd on the table, surpassing Atletico Madrid and Real Betis. Unfortunately, Luuk De Jong's Header was not good enough to secure the victory for Barcelona.

It became increasingly difficult for the Barca defense to lock down Granada's attacking force when a second poor foul by the youngster Gavi resulted in a red card and ejection. This left Barca with 10 men in the 10 minutes, just enough time for Granada to take a corner and find the Barca defense slacking. Puertas in the 89' was able to rocket a shot off the top post and in, scoring the game equalizer.

While we discussed many contributing factors to this draw, it is another example where Barca falls short when there are opportunities that they must take advantage of. Xavi, unfortunately put on Memphis Depay who ended up adding nothing to the team in place of LDJ. On top of this, once LDJ came off the pitch the Barca squad looked less organized in attack and no opportunities flourished in this formation of play.

Furthermore, the Barca squad looked less enthused to be on the pitch especially in the likes of Ousmane Dembele. His stay is extremely questionable at the moment, but we do not believe Barca played in the manner to open the field for Demebele. While we can sayGavi looked over zealous, hios chaotic tackles and poor choices was ultimately his downfall. In conclusion, the opportunity to rise on the table was thwarted by poor player output in combination with poor coaching decisions and a lack of adaptability. A silver lining of it all, is that Barca seem to be making improvements in different places. Although, they still have yet to fully fuse each incremental improvement into all aspects of the game simultaneously.

Linares Dep. 1-2 FC Barcelona Match Review! Dembele and Jutgla Score! Dani Alves Makes his Return!

The BarcaBreakdown discuss the 1-2 victory for FC Barcelona over Linares Deportivo. Thankfully, substitutions at half time allowed Ousmane Dembele and Ferran Jutgla to score 2 second half goals to allow FC Barcelona to advance to the Round of 16 of the Copa Del Rey.

A first half marked by bad defense and ball control was highlighted by a Linares Deportivo goal that quickly put FC Barcelona behind. At half, Xavi made a crucial substitution of Riqui Puig, who had a very poor performance today. Though, Frenkie De Jong and Ronald Araujo both picked up injuries which could hurt an already injury plagued team in Barca. New is coming out that Araujo's hand is fractured and he will miss 3-4 weeks.

Dembele again sparked some magic with his performance, which is increasingly bittersweet as he has not signed a contract renewal to stay with FC Barcelona and could be on his way out of the club this winter or summer due to an expiring contract. Ferran Jutgla continued to take the most of his opportunities starting (as Barca have injuries to Memphis Depay, Braithwaite, Ansu Fati and Ferran Torres is not ready to play yet) and score a nice goal to seal the Barca victory.

Mallorca vs. Barcelona (0-1): Luuk De Jong Scores Winner & Stegen Saves the Day Securing 3 Points!!

The Barca Breakdown discussed Barca's second away victory of the season against 15th place RCD Mallorca. The win puts barca in 5th place, 1 point behind Atletico Madrid and 2 points behind Real Betis. With so many Barca players out of the roster, Dembele, Gavi, Abde, and more due to Covid, the results are wonderful.

Xavi deployed a 4-3-3 with Araujo, Eric Garcia, Pique, and Mingueza fortifying the back line. In the mid field Puig, Nico and FDJ fed balls forward to Jutgla, LDJ, and Ilias. While this team is not seasoned on the pitch, Minuguza was able to supply a cross to the head of LDJ who put one away as the game winner. This goal came at the end of the first half, which means Barca had a lot of work to do to secure the 3 points. Overall, Barca was able to protect the net until a huge chance came to Mallorca. Barca's German Wall, who has not been living up to this name, finally redeemed himself with a massive save by slapping the attempt away with his forearm.    Barca finally broke the 7th spot on the table and reached 5th, just in range to secure a Champions League spot for next season. The results could not have been much better with the hand Barca was dealt. Although, the biggest worry is Dembele will not sign to extend his career at Barca and if we do not transfer him in the January window, he will be off for free. Despite this, Ferran Torres, Pedri, and Fati should be available soon to get to the 4th spot! Forca Barca!

Ferran Torres JOINS FC BARCELONA! Dembele Close to Re-Signing! Pedri, Fati, and Depay Will Be Back?

The BarcaBreakdown discuss the massive news that Ferran Torres has joined FC Barcelona from Manchester City! Torres is also a Spanish national, so he has plenty of experience playing alongside Jordi Alba, Busquets, Gavi, and Pique, which should help him quickly get used to FC Barcelona. He also previously played for Valencia, so he is well accustomed to La Liga's playstyle. Laporta has signed Torres offering a huge boost to Xavi's side. Torres can play as a winger, striker, or a false nine, all roles he played under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City or under Luis Enrique for Spain. We also discuss the returns from injury of Pedri, Ansu Fati, and Memphis Depay. We also discuss Ousmane Dembele being close to signing a contract extension with FC Barcelona. Sevilla 2-2 FC Barcelona Match Review: Xavi‘s Barca Improving! Araujo Goal and Dembele‘s MOTM Play!

The BarcaBreakdown the 2-2 Draw vs. Sevilla in La Liga. Facing the #2 team in La Liga, Xavi's Barca played a very impressive game as the team continues to learn Xavi's style he intends to implement in the team. Ronald Araujo scored a wonderful header and the only goal allowed by Barca was an unfortunate corner goal in the first half. Barca really took the first half by storm and showcased some brilliant offensive play with Gavi, Dembele, and Abde showing no fear against a great Sevilla side. The game turned on its head once Kounde received a red card for throwing the ball directly at Jordi Alba's head. Sevilla played a very aggressive game with multiple fouls on Barca players throughout the match. Down to 10-men, Sevilla parked the bus and Barca had very few good scoring opportunities. Again, we still are facing tremendous injuries to our offense with Fati, Pedri, Depay, and Braithwaite all still injured. The team continues to inspire, especially led by young payers like Gavi, Nico, Abde, and Araujo. Our team still has an issue of turning in weaker second half performances, though this is getting better. Please like, comment and subscribe to our channel! Twitter: Instagram:

FC Barcelona vs Elche (3-2) Match Review: Gavi/Nico/Jutgla Spectacular Offensive Performance!

The Barca Breakdown discusses the victory and performance of FC Barcelona vs. Elche CF. Xavi's starting 3-4-3 lineup including Araujo as the right back, Erica Garcia starting, and Jutgla. Araujo again started in a position that is unnatural and Erica Garcia who has been slow and lacked strength to snuff out attacking opponents. Jutgla had his first start in a La Liga match for the Barca A team, looked absolutely spectacular. Rolling into the first half, there were wonderful attempts on goal with great passes facilitated by Ousmane Dembele. Magic struck from a Dembele corner, landing on Jutgla's head, who wonderfully placed it past the goalie. Then, only a few moments later Gavi received the ball with a quick turn and rushed to attack, ultimately smashing it to the left in which it bounces off and into the net. Barca up 2-0 before the 20'. As the half closes, Barca allowed a couple chances for Elche to score which were misplaced. Second half had begun and the Barca defense looked weak. Elche received an awful pass from Araujo, leaving the counter attack open. Elche scored, 2-1. Moments later a cross from the right and a header smashes past Stegen who weakly contested the opportunity, 2-2. A great representation of how the Barca season had been going. Just as we thought Barca would shut down, Dembele and Gavi connected in the box resulting with a give and go. Gavi spotted Nico in the middle of the box, wideopen. Niceo received the ball and reacted in time to save 3 points with a powerfully exhilarating goal. Barca leave the pitch with 3 points and hope under Xavi's promising offensive tactics. Unfortunately, the Barca defense still looks weak for reasons by Xavi and the players. Please like, comment and subscribe to our channel! Xavi‘s Barca in CRISIS? 2-2 Draw vs. Osasuna.Gavi/Abde Impress! Adeyemi, Torres Come this Winter?

The BarcaBreakdown discuss the 2-2 draw vs. Osasuna in La Liga. Xavi's Barca unfortunately could not hold their lead after scoring both goals, leading to a late Osasuna goal. Gavi, Nico, and Balde continue to impress as the youngsters are performing much better than experienced plays like Pique, Alba, and Busquets. We continue to see worrying signs from Frenkie De Jong, who looks like he has lost his enjoyment of playing the game. Rumors are swirling that Ter Stegen and De Jong are no longer invincible from transfers, so it will be interesting if Xavi can help get Frenkie back on track. Unfortunately, with massive injuries to our front line, we had to start Luuk De Jong. Luuk once again showed that he is not able to play at the level Barca need him to. Bayern Munich 3-0 FC Barcelona Champions League Match Review: Barca to the Europa League.

The BarcaBreakdown discuss FC Barcelona's 3-0 loss to Bayern Munich and the next chapter for Xavi/Barca in the Europa League. Unfortunately, Bayern Munich were too much for Barca to handle, especially when we are playing many of the same backline as we did during the 8-2 loss, including Marc Andre Ter Stegen, Pique, Lengelet, Busquets, and Jordi Alba. Barca currently don't have the players needed to compete with Champions League favorites like Bayern Munich. We suffer in defense, but we also suffer from the lack of any clear goal scoring threat as well. Xavi has his work cut out for him as he leads Barca in the Europa league for the first time in 17 years. We are still facing the negatives of the Bartomeu board, and the mismanagement and failure to plan that has left us starting many under 21 year old players and financial distress that makes future signings hard. At a time when we need players like Adeyemi, Halaand etc. being in the Europa League will make it much harder for us to attract players to Barca. Please like, comment and subscribe to our channel! FC Barcelona v Real Betis 0-1 Match Review: Dembele Lethal, Depay Invisible, Xavi‘s Barca Countered

The Barca Breakdown discussed the first loss under the Xavi Era against Real Betis. Unfortunately, Xavi did not choose to start Dembele and Frenkie De Jong who were both instrumental in the majority of opportunities on goal. The Barca starting line-up featured Dest as right back, Abde as right wing, and Gavi moved back to the midfield. The first 15 minutes had opportunities for Barca to score and press Betis. Despite this, Barca fell into their usual low energy, slow, and unmotivated game finishing off the first half. As the second half progressed, Xavi recognized changes were needed especially after Gavi was removed for Puig due to a head injury. Dembele came on and immediately made a world of difference with his speed, passing, and shots on goal. A few shots were just wide from Dembele giving a sense of hope and lethality. Like usual, Barca played a high defensive line resulting in a counter and the winning goal from Juanmi. Furthermore, Dest was unaware and did not mark Juanmi, leaving Stegen to concede. We criticized Xavi for his choice of starters, assuming he rested them for the game against Bayern Munich. We question why there was a need to do this assuming our true hope to progress in the Champions League will result from Benfica losing or drawing to Dynamo Kyiv. Overall, we need to prioritize La Liga to climb the table for next year's Champions League. Barca Face Bayern Munich on Wednesday, December 8th. Please like, comment and subscribe to our channel! Dembele LEAVING FC Barcelona? Messi BALLON D‘OR #7!! Ferran Torres Signing with Barca?

The BarcaBreakdown discuss the contract negotiations with Ousmane Dembele as well as Lionel Messi winning his seventh Ballon d'Or! FC Barcelona is also close to signing Ferran Torres from Manchester City, and Sergi Roberto is undergoing a quadriceps injury that may keep him out for 8 weeks. Ousmane Dembele's contract is up in the summer of 2022, meaning Laporta and the Board will need to resign him this winter or Dembele will leave for free next Summer. Unfortunately, the press are reporting that though Dembele wants to stay at Barca, his agent is claiming he has much better offers from other European soccer teams. Though we love Dembele, we find the reports that he is trying to get "potential Ballon d'Or" money ridiculous considering his injury woes and general lack of consisten playing time during his stay with Barca. We are in favor of an incentive based contract that rewards him for playing well, though Dembele of course wants more guaranteed money. Ferran Torres, the forward for Manchester City and Spain, is reportedly agreeing to terms with FC Barcelona for a reduced wage that may see him come this winter transfer period. Man City and Barca are almost in agreement on a deal themselves, though of course FC Barcelona always have issues spending money due to our financial issues. Villarreal v. FC Barcelona 1-3: Depay, Frenkie De Jong, and Coutinho Score! Xavi and Team Show Heart

The Barca Breakdown discusses Barca's first away victory and 2 consecutive wins in La Liga for the 2021-22 Season. With the continued roster of injured players, Xavi is left with deploying Gavi at the left wing and Erica Garcia as right back. Xavi also utilized Abde with his first starts for FC Barcelona. As the match began, many players created threatening opportunities on goal like Depay's 2 chances at goal that went just wide. Also, FDJ provided an offensive mindset running into the box and fighting to score. Abde continued to attack the right wing, breaking defenders in attempts to cross the ball into the box. All of these feats unfortunately bore no goals in the first half. As the second half began, a cross from Alba came to Depay's feet and his shot was blocked. Luckily, Frenkie De Jong made a run in the box and was able to put away the first goal of the match. Barca's performance began to look weak as Villarreal pressed up the field causing havoc. Eventually, Chukwueze was able to smash an equalizer in the back of the net. This game might have been over at this moment under Ronald Koeman. Although, Xavi as manager has seemed to have given life to the young squad and they backed the coach up. In the last 15 minutes of the game, a long ball over the top from Ter Stegen was able to find Depay who cracked the tie and took the lead. It didn't stop there, in the 90'+4, the substitute Coutinho drew a penalty and scored it to wrap the final 1-3 for the Blaugrana. We discuss the incremental improvements Xavi has been able to create with the young Barca squad and are they enough to get Barca into the top 4 of La Liga. FC Barcelona vs. Benfica 0-0 Champions League Group Stage: Match Review! Can Barca Beat Bayern Next?

The BarcaBreakdown discuss the 0-0 tie by FC Barcelona and Benfica in the Champions League Group Stage. Xavi's team looked much better, with players like Araujo, Dembele, Nico, and Gavi continuing to impress as the team plays much better soccer compared to the Koeman Era. However, FC Barcelona will now have to get a win or draw against Bayern Munich if Benfica are able to get points against Dynamo Kyiv in the last match day of the group stage.

Xavi's continues to impress as manager even with injuries to Pedri, Fati and Braithwaite, as well as Dembele barely returning. The issues with the squad remain, as we have hardly any strikers healthy on the team and very few wingers to deploy. It will certainly be a challenge for us to score until our whole squad is healthy. Deploying Gavi as a winger is probably not his best position, but one we must maintain with our forwards injured.

Though we drew in a huge match, the general consensus is there is much to be hopeful for with Xavi leading the team. The players seem to have a sense of passion back, and the quickness of passing between the 3 lines is showing huge improvements since the beginning of the season. Araujo and Lengelet featured for the first time in a few matches, which is exciting to see. Xavi seems to be rotating players often, which will help us avoid injuries that have plagued us this season.

FC Barcelona Vs. Espanyol: Xavi First Victory, Depay Scores, Nico Injured in Catalan Derby Battle!

The Barca Breakdown discuss Xavi's first game as victors of the Catalan Derby. While we believed the Xavi may deploy a 4-2-3-1 due to a lack of attackers, to our surprise, Xavi deployed a 4-3-3. In place of the injured attackers (Dembele, Fati, Brathwaite), Xavi placed Gavi on the Left wing and Barca B youngster Ilias with Depay in the middle. The first half had many flashes of promising play from Busquets and Frenkie De Jong moving the ball forward and players creating some shots on goal. We criticized the fact that players are taking low percentage shots from outside the box. Luckily, in the second half, Depay was awarded a penalty and subsequently scored it to take Barca to a 1-0 lead. As the second half progressed, players seemed to struggle to prevent the Espanyol attackers from creating threatening opportunities. Two of which were headers that were just outside the post. Overall, Xavi deployed Barca youngsters in a promising fashion, with some improvements. The team still needs to clean up their defense coming into the Champions League game against Benfica. Lastly, we emphasize the need to give Xavi time to lead our team and the players to adjust under the difficult situation (including the injured players previously mentioned and Pedri/Nico). FC Barcelona vs. Espanyol PreMatch Xavi‘s FIRST Match as Manager, Pedri Back Healthy! 3-4-3/4-2-3-1?

The BarcaBreakdown discuss the upcoming game against Espanyol at the Camp Nou, which will be Xavi's first match as manager of FC Barcelona in La Liga. We discuss which lineup Xavi will start, while wondering how we will see Pedri and Gavi play together as Pedri is finally fit.

At Al Sadd, Xavi often played a 3-4-3 and 4-2-3-1. At Barca, of course the 4-3-3 is a popular line up. Considering the players we have injured on the front line, including Dembele, Fati, Braithwaite, Aguero, it will be very interesting who Xavi plays with Depay up front. Of course, with Xavi's meritocracy comments, we will see if players like Coutinho and Luuk De Jong get chances to prove themselves with their new coach.

In the midfield, the big news is that Pedri is back. In addition, with Xavi often playing a 4-2-3-1, we are excited to see a Busquets-Frenkie De Jong double pivot utilized. We are looking for Xavi to get the best out of Frenkie specifically, as rumors of the club shopping around Frenkie seem shortsighted. With such high hopes for Frenkie, we believe Xavi will be the manager to utilize him best.

In defense, we also contemplate whether Pique will start, considering he has had a slow start to the season. As Umtiti was mentioned as impressing Xavi in practice according to media reports, that leaves us with Eric Garcia, Lengelet, Pique, Araujo as options for centerback. If we do a 3-4-3, it should be noted that Mingueza did well in that 3 centerback formation last season under Koeman.

Dani Alves RETURNS to FC Barcelona! Raheem Sterling LOAN to Barca? Xavi‘s Rules and Aguero Update.

The BarcaBreakdown discuss Xavi's 10 rules implemented to help restore order to the team, the return of Dani Alves to Barca and Laporta's comments about a possible Raheem Sterling transfer. We also discuss Samuel Umtiti impressing Xavi in training and Sergio Aguero's health updates which do not look positive yet.

Xavi has implemented 10 new rules to help ensure Barca players are on time to practice, as well as rules to foster camaraderie amongst the team by having the players eat together. In order to get the best out of youth players like Gavi, Nico, Fati etc. Xavi is clearly starting with an orderly team to make sure everyone buys into his team vision. He is also implementing a meritocracy, so that the players who perform best in game and in practice are allowed to play the most. This is a great start to try and make sure veteran leaders like Pique, Busquets, Jordi Alba, and Sergi Roberto know that they can no longer count on starting due to their seniority.

Dani Alves has returned! Dani Alves is the player with the most trophies in the history of soccer with 43. After playing with FC Barcelona between 2008-2016, he has finally returned. Though we do not think he has the ability to start big games at his age of 38, we believe Alves can be crucial to mentoring young players. We think as a right back he can be especially crucial to help Sergino Dest continue to improve and master the position.

We discuss how Samuel Umtiti is impressing in training, so much so that Xavi singled him out and congratulated his effort so far. Sergio Aguero has not very good news from the medical team, and may be forced to retire pending tests after a 90 day no training period. We hope he is healthy and can recover well.

Xavi RETURNS To BARCA! Presentation and Interview for Barca’s New Manager on Dembele, Winning & More

The BarcaBreakdown discuss Xavi’s presentation in front of 10,000 fans at the Camp Nou as the new manager for FC Barcelona. The return of an all-time club and football legend in Xavi is a great moment for all Barca fans. We hope to see Xavi succeed, and we are happy Joan Laporta finally has the coach he prefers in charge. Xavi spoke about many different topics during his interview with Barca TV. Xavi placed a heavy importance on establishing rules in the team and increasing our training intensity. Both of these are critical for Barca to do considering the lack of on the field leadership and constant injury woes. Xavi also made a point to say he wants to return to the Barca way of attacking football and to see FC Barcelona once again as the best club in the world. Speaking about coaching his former teammates, Xavi said he did not believe coaching Ter Stegen, Alba, Busquets, Pique, and Sergi Roberto would be hard as knowing them would help him push them better in training. Xavi also discussed how every player would start with a clean slate, and players like Umtiti and Lengelet would have the chance to prove themselves in front of Xavi. Celta Vigo 3-3 FC Barcelona Match Review: Fati/Depay Score, Barca Defense and Injuries Lose 2 Points

The BarcaBreakdown discuss the 3-3 tie vs. Celta Vigo in La Liga. Injuries to Ansu Fati, Nico, and Eric Garcia sour an incredible first half with goals by Fati, Busquets, and Depay. The second half featured 2 goals from Iago Aspas and one from Nolito, which highlighted an awful breakdown from Barcelona. Barjuan's last game in charge before Xavi was wonderful to start. Ansu Fati scored an amazing initial goal and continued his #FATIMANIA. However, Fati pulled up with a hamstring injury as the first half ended. Sergio Busquets had an outside of the box goals, a surprising shot that snuck past the keeper. Depay connected with a Jordi Alba cross and headed in the 3rd goal of the first half. Unfortunately, Garcia was subbed off due to injury at half time and Nico had an issue shortly thereafter. Subbing on Balde and Arajuo, and not Coutinho, only left us with one offensive player for most of the second half. Riqui Puig came on but is still looking to find a rhythm and form after so long without regular playtime. We now look to Xavi, who will be officially announced as FC Barcelona coach starting on Monday. We hope the fans are patient and allow him time to rebuild the team, physically and mentally. Dynamo Kyiv 0-1 FC Barcelona Champions League Match REVIEW! Fati Amazing Goal and Dembele IS BACK!

The BarcaBreakdown cover FC Barcelona's victory against Dynamo Kyiv, during which Ansu Fati scored a wonderful goal for the HUGE victory in the Champions League. The game also showed Ousmane Dembele finally back from injury with a promising performance showcasing his speed and dribbling, while Frenkie De Jong and Ronald Araujo also came back. The second game under Barjuan was not perfect, as we continue to see areas of improvement in defense, midfield, and offense that we hope Xavi will come to improve. Overall, Marc Andre Ter Stegen made a few critical saves while Eric Garcia and Clement Lengelet did just enough to help keep the clean sheet. We were also very happy to see Dembele, Ansu Fati, and Memphis Depay line up as our front three in the second half. This trio will need to be deadly to ensure that Barca move on in the Champions League with group leaders Bayern Munich. Preparing for the GINORMOUS match vs. Benfica in three weeks, the continued growth of Gavi and Nico will do wonders once Pedri is back in the midfield. FC Barcelona v. Alaves (1-1) Match Review: Depay Golazo, Aguero Injured, and Barjuan‘s First Match!

The Barca Breakdown discussed the game against Alaves at the Camp Nou which resulted in a 1-1 draw. Sergi Barjuan starts the game with a typical Koeman lineup due to a large injury roster, yet we saw youngsters Nico and Gavi start in the mid field alongside Busquets. We saw Aguero start as strikers, but unfortunately subbed off due to an elevated heart rate. The first 25 minutes were wonderfully interconnected between players creating some great opportunities. However, Barca could not squeeze out a goal in the first half.

Rolling into the second half, play seemed to slow down and many opportunities were snubbed by the Alavez defense or players slowing play by passing back. With a wonderful attempt, Depay's rocket finds the back of the net. Barca led 1-0 until a mishap in the defense allowed Alavez to equalize only minutes later. Barca's play for the rest of the game reverted to tired and lazy attempts failing to take the lead. Furthermore, With the injured roster Barca subbed on Coutinho and Balde.

The La Liga Table is not a pretty sight with Barca in the number 9 spot with 16 points well behind Real Madrid, Real Sociedad, and Sevilla at 24 points. We then spoke about the persistent problems of the players not being able to finish and just low quality performance. We hope that Barjuan with a few more games can slowly improve the performances and strategies on the pitch. With the imminent arrival of Xavi, will we see an improvement over Koeman's reign? Koeman SACKED By FC Barcelona After Atrocious Loss To Rayo Vallecano: Xavi To Replace As Manager?!

The Barca Breakdown discussed another loss in the 2021/2022 season which resulted in the sacking of Ronald Koeman as manager. This comes after a loss away against Rayo Vallecano in which a fatal mistake by Busquests led to their demise. The team looked disheveled, disorientated, and disorganized. The only positive outlook was that Nico looked wonderful. In the end, Koeman, again, blames the players and takes no accountability or recognition that he needed to improve. It was clear with the loss of Messi, many problems came to light and Koeman was not able to adjust. Soon after the result, FC Barcelona released an official statement saying Koeman had been relieved of his duties. The Culers rejoiced! Finally Laporta made the financial decision to sack Koeman despite a 12 Million Euro payout. There is definitely more money to be lost if Barca do not continue through the Champions League and stay in a higher spot in La liga. In even more important news, Xavi is again linked to replace Koeman. Nothing is official as of yet, but the only reports for a replacement are circulating around Xavi. This poses a few questions: Why was Koeman not fired earlier? Will Xavi have the authority to bench senior players (Busquets, Roberto, Pique) when they are not performing well? Aren't we just putting Xavi into the same coaching situation, a club legend, in the same position as Koeman. Please like, comment and subscribe to our channel! Breakdown Weekly: Fans ATTACK Koeman‘s Car Post-Clasico! Barca Injury Updates for Fati, Pedri, FDJ.

The Barca Breakdown discussed the aftermath of El Clasico and the horrendous hostility shown by some fans to Koeman and his car, along with injuries update to Fati, Frenkie De Jong, Pedri, and Pique.

As Ronald Koeman was leaving the Camp Nou in his car, Barca fans surrounded his car yelling "Get Out" and creating a scene. Fortunately the situation did not escalate and Koeman and his wife were able to make it out of the crowd. We also question the state of Barcelona by comparing the views of TalkFCB and the Barcelona Podcast and how Yusef and Adam perceive the situation. It is to be said that Barca are in a rebuilding state after the financial ruin after Bartomeu, Messi's departure, many injuries, and a young inexperienced squad. But there has been something lost... Players under Barca are not improving and the Barca style seems to be lost.

Lastly we discuss the injuries of Fati, Frenkie De Jong, Pique, Alba, and Pedri. There is something to say about the failure of the Barca physio team to keep our players healthy and able to play throughout the season. Please like, comment and subscribe to our channel!

FC Barcelona V. Real Madrid (1-2): Clasico Disarray, Aguero Scores, Koeman Fails AGAIN! Match Review

The BarcaBreakdown discussed disarray under Koeman ball. For the 3rd straight Clasico, Koeman has failed and set us up for failure. Time and time again Barca on the pitch are lackluster, providing no forward movement and little to no shots on goal. The defense continually leaves players unmarked with plenty of threatening space. This resulted in two goals from Alaba and Vazquez. Individually Barcelona players looked slow, discouraged, and without drive to defeat their longtime rivals. Performances from Frenkie De Jong, Depay, Fati, Garcia, and Mingueza were all well below the potential they possessed.

What will make the difference on this team? A complete overall is needed tactically to drive Barca to success. Koeman is certainly not the manager to take to any trophy. Koeman is not the only person to blame for this. The players do not take the opportunities to score, they are off target, and they fail the forward movements to overcome the defenses of their opponents. The only goal resulted from a cross from Dest into Aguero who softly sent the ball into the back of the net. Unfortunately, this only resulted in the final minute of the game and didn't leave barca with a chance to equalize.

Barca's future falls further as we are left in 8th of the La Liga table with 15 points and a game in hand. This all leading into the game on Wednesday against Rayo Vallecano.

FC Barcelona Vs. Valencia (3-1): Match Review - Fati Scores! Dest Masterclass! Aguero‘s Debut.

The Barca Breakdown discussed Barca's 3-1 victory at the Camp Nou against Valencia. The biggest highlights of this game was Koeman's idea to play Sergino Dest on the right wing, Dest's performance in that position, and Ansu Fati scoring an outrageous goal and drawing a penalty. Memphis Depay converted the penalty while Coutinho was able to score the final goal and seal the victory at the Camp Nou. The early goal by Gaya for Valencia was a big shock, though we were happy to see the team fight back to take the victory. Gavi, Frenkie De Jong, and Busquets all had flashes of good play in the midfield, though it did look like Valencia could cut through our midfield with a few passes. The defense continues to look fairly bad, however we are encouraged that we did not allow a goal after the 4th minutes. Much of this success was because Marc Andre Ter Stegen had a great game in goal. It is good to see Coutinho get back on the score sheet. It was also nice to see Sergio Aguero make his first appearance for FC Barcelona. We are hoping Dembele comes back soon and is ready to add more width for our team. Breakdown Weekly: Pedri Signs Extension! Gavi Impressed the WORLD and Dembele Season Approaching!

The BarcaBreakdown discuss the news of Pedri's contract renewal, and over 1 billion euro trade clause, as the international break comes to an end. As a Ballon D'oR 30 man shortlist member and Golden Boy of the Euros, Pedri is an integral part of the FC Barcelona rebuild in the post-Messi era. We are extremely excited Laporta and the board were able to renew Pedri for 5 years. Next on the list are the renewals of Ansu Fati and Dembele. Both players have contracts ending in June 2022 and it is imperative we re-sign them now or we will be forced to offload them in the winter as they cannot leave for free next summer.  Dembele is also supposed to be back for the team in the next 1-2 games, which is a great sign for Koeman. Our team so far this year has lacked width and speed, two aspects which Dembele will certainly help us with. We hope to see Fati, Dembele, and Depay all connect soon as goal scoring has been tough for Barca so far this season, especially being shut out at Bayern and Benfica. We also discuss Gavi! The new young superstar who really impressed during the Nations League tournament while playing for Spain. Luis Enrique had high praises for Gavi, in a very similar manner to those we heard about Pedri in the summer. With Gavi, Pedri, Frenkie De Jong, Barca have a strong core of young midfielders that should help us grow in the coming seasons. We certainly need Koeman, or whoever our new manager is, to be able to continue to help these young midfielders grow so Barca can compete for La Liga, the Copa, and Champions League in the next decade. Ballon D‘oR Shortlist: Messi #7 INCOMING! Lewandowski, Benzema Jorginho! 18 Year Old Pedri SHINES!

The BarcaBreakdown discuss the 30 man short list for the Ballon D'oR, as Lionel Messi looks clear to pick up his 7th golden ball this winter. Unfortunately, only 1 FC Barcelona player appeared on the list, which was the Golden Boy of the Euros, Pedri! We discuss the likely top 3 for the award, along with the lack of FC Barcelona players and those who we believe should be on the list like Frenkie De Jong and Memphis Depay. The BarcaBreakdown discuss what is stopping Lionel Messi from winning the 2021 Ballon D'Or. Answer: NOTHING! After being the top scorer, assister, best player, and CHAMPION of the 2021 Copa America, Lionel Messi looks clear to take home his 7th Ballon D'or to the Camp Nou and FC Barcelona/Argentina fans. As ESPNFC covered earlier this summer, nothing will stop Messi due to his outrageous 2021 and finally breaking the curse and winning an international title for Argentina. We discuss the possible reasons Messi may not win. For one, Robert Lewandowski should rightfully have on the 2020 award. We worry he may get some votes as compensation for the fact that France Football not awarding the Ballon d'Or in 2020. We also think voter fatigue might set in, so that some may not want to keep giving Messi the same award year after year. Jorginho also has a case, as he was the winner of the Champions League with Chelsea, and the Euros with Italy. N'golo Kante also won with Chelsea and was a favorite, but France's poor performance at the Euros leave his hopes in major doubt. Karim Benzema has also made a name for himself for the Ballon D'oR this year with his wonderful play for Real Madrid and France Overall, we think Messi should walk away easy with the award. Laporta Hoped Messi Played For FREE to Stay at FC Barcelona? Laporta: Koeman Stays and Dembele Back!

The BarcaBreakdown discuss Joan Laporta's comments ahead of Messi's France Football interview. Laporta had hoped Messi would somehow offer to play for free. This has seemed to blow up in the media as a crazy possibility that could never happen for several reasons. First off legal issues would not allow for a player to play for free in La Liga. Furthermore, Messi had already offered to take a 50% pay reduction to meet the needs of the team. Unfortunately, many senior players on the team have high wage contracts and long in duration. This all stems from Bartomeu's awful financial decisions which had led to a reduction from 300 million euros to a low budget of 97 million euros. While the financial situation was unfortunate for Laporta, he must have been aware of the intricacies of FC Barcelona's financial situation. Despite this, Laporta had promised to sign Messi in his presidential campaign and had elicited that the Messi negotiations were going well. Not until the final moment when Messi returned from his vacation did Laporta say it wasn't possible to sign him. Laporta's story does not seem to fit a real timeline. A politician's game is being played to shift the blame off of Laporta and onto Messi. This came in the form of Laporta saying he had hoped Messi would play for free. Unfortunately, FC Barcelona are in a tough situation. Although we need a leader and someone to spur confidence in our ability to bounce back. We do not have high hope that Barca will be able to prevail in La Liga and the Champions League with Laporta reiterating his confidence in Koeman being the right man for the job. In the most positive news, Dembele seems like he will make an appearance in the coming games in October (Valencia, Dynamo Kiev, and El Clasico-Real Madrid). Koeman-Laporta Relationship GOOD? FC Barcelona Drama Continues as Laporta has CONFIDENCE in Koeman!

The BarcaBreakdown discuss Joan Laporta’s comments before the Atletico game, in which Laporta said he has confidence in Koeman to continue as manager. Though FC Barcelona were defeated by Atletico and Barca legend Luis Suarez, Laporta’s comments made clear that Koeman’s job is not in jeopardy. Reports say that the two spoke recently and Koeman has reiterated his need for players to heal from injuries in order to improve the team. This is a startling development, as Laporta has been reported to not be confident in the manager since the summer. Lately, there had been an increase in rumors that Xavi, Pirlo, Roberto Martinez, or other coaches would come in to replace Koeman very soon. However, whether the issue is Barcelona's finances, the lack of replacement, or another reason (like Koeman offering a resignation if he continues to fail), Koeman seems to live another day with Barca. Atletico Vs. FC Barcelona (2-0): Koeman Tactics Lead Barca Into Further Despair, Laporta Has Faith?

The Barca Breakdown discussed another loss, this time at the hands of Atletico Madrid. This 2-0 loss further proved Koeman is not the man to Lead Barca to win any trophies. Despite Barca not playing any Barca football, Laporta stated that Koeman will be trusted and kept on. We were left with further despair as we realized more dark times are coming. Barca’s lack of defensive capabilities left them exposed on counters multiple times in which Luis Suarez took advantage. “Swiss cheese” defense has taken Barca deeper in isolation as it caused frustration on the pitch between Pique and Busquets. We also discussed our lack of offensive creativity and identity. What is Barca’s Chief strategy on the pitch? Who is meant to lead the attack? What is Barca? After this game, Barca are #9 in La Liga and only predicted to fall lower. Please like, comment and subscribe to our channel! Benfica vs Barcelona 3-0, Champions League 2021 Match Review: Barca Embarrassed. Koeman Surely Gone?

The BarcaBreakdown discuss the awful 3-0 loss FC Barcelona experienced at the hands of Benfica at Estadio da Luz. Unfortunately, Barca were totally unprepared for the Champions League match and were embarassed, as Koeman strangely pursued a 3-5-2 lineup. We were upset, as Barca had done so well against Levante with a 4-3-3 using Mingueza as a RB. However, Koeman had other ideas, starting Erica Garcia, Pique, and Araujo as the 3 centerbacks. With a 3-0 loss to Bayern Munich and Benfica, it is hard to believe that Koeman can survive much longer as the Barca manager. Laporta seems to clearly be ready to move on, however it is hard for us to figure out which options are available that can help turn around the ship. FC Barcelona vs. Levante 3-0 Match Review: FATIMANIA BACK! Ansu Fati Scores On His Return!

The Barca Breakdown discuss the results of Barca vs. Levante at the Camp Nou. Barca took 3 points, defeating Levante 3-0. Early, Depay won a penalty and scored for an early lead. Moving forward, Dest, acting as the left back in place of Alba, cut to the middle and delivered a ball for Luuk De Jong to score his first Barca goal. In the 81', Ansu Fati returned to the pitch for the first time in a year. In the first 9 minutes of his return, Fati took one to the back of the net, sealing a triumphant return as all had hoped. We further speak on improvements against Levante from the Cadiz and Granada games. These include better passing, more forward movement, and a fight to the end. Interestingly, this game showed Koeman away from the bench due to the red card against Cadiz, and assistant coach Alfred Schreuder was on the bench. We are very excited to see Fati perform well, and we will hopefully see Dembele, Aguero, and Braithwaite back with the team soon enough. Barca have some tough games coming up in the Champions League vs. Benfica, and against Atletico Madrid in La Liga. We need all fans to be in support of the team to see if we have a chance to win titles this season. Please like, comment and subscribe to our channel! FC Barcelona 1-1 Granada La Liga Match Review: KOEMAN OUT?! Araujo the HERO! Barca Without Identity.

The BarcaBreakdown discuss the awful 1-1 draw of FC Barcelona against Granada at the Camp Nou. With another embarrassing performance from Koeman's team, we wonder how long Laporta will allow Koeman to continue coaching. An uninspired Barca performance was exemplified by the scenes of Ronald Araujo and Gerard Pique as strikers at the end of the game. Barca's defense let up the first goal of the game in minute 3, showing again that this team has no ability to stop the opposition from scoring. However, this game also showed the issues with the offense as FC Barcelona resorted to crosses and praying through the game, with Luuk De Jong, Depay, and Coutinho showing little firepower in an aerial game. Koeman again complained about the lack of talent on this team with so many injuries and so many young players starting. However, with stars like Frenkie De Jong, Depay, Coutinho, Busquets and more playing, it is hard to believe that Koeman's team cannot do more against Granada at the Camp Nou. The list of possible coaches Laporta may look to are: • Xavi Hernández • Andrea Pirlo • Antonio Conte • Marcelo Bielsa • Erik Ten Hag Please like, comment and subscribe to our channel! Barcelona vs. Bayern Munich (3-0): Champions League Match Review-Did Koeman FAIL? Youth Impress?

The Barca Breakdown discusses Barca’s first Champions League game against Bayern Munich at the Camp Nou. Without Fati, Dembele or Aguero, our attack was depleted and all Barca fans knew that this Bayern team were better with Lewandowski and Co. Yusef’s skepticism predicted a 5-1 loss, while Adam’s false hope predicted a 3-2 loss. Despite the ill faith, Barca failed to put one in the back of the net at home and allowed 3 goals. Barca’s first quarter performance was impressive, with good ball movement, possession, and open space. This all changed when Muller scored off a deflection of Eric Garcia, leaving Ter Stegen helpless. The rest of the game is slowly turned downwards as Koeman's Barca seemed to have little tactical planning to deal with Bayern in an effective way. This comes from a failure of slowness and a lack of creativity from Roberto and Luuk De Jong. While the score line was not flattering, some stand out performances from Ter Stegen, Araujo, and Frenkie De Jong were only visible on the pitch. Along those lines, Coutinho appeared in his first game back after a long injury and loan to show he was still capable of taking chances. It was nice to see some youngsters (Gavi, Demir, Balde) and get some play time for the future of Barca. Ultimately, we question what could have happened if we had a healthy squad with the likes of Dembele, Fati, Depay (and Aguero) in the front. Even if we had these star players to bolster our attacking potential, would Koeman have been tactical enough to utilize these players to their full potential in the barca style? This is a question we can track as the season continues and our squad reaches a healthier status. Please like, comment and subscribe to our channel! Barcelona Vs. Bayern Munich: CL Group Match Preview - Tactical Koeman? Lewandowski & Davies Fears

The BarcaBreakdown discuss the first game of FC Barcelona’s Champions League conquest, beginning with a match at the Camp Nou on Tuesday, September 14th! Bayern will be coming to Spain after just defeating RB Leipzig 4-1. Unfortunately, the international break has not been the kindest to Barca again, with Sergino Dest injured and possibly Jordi Alba. Furthermore, Braithwaite may have some knee discomfort so Luuk De Jong may play (yet he hasn’t had much time on the team). The Barca Breadkdown discusses if our defense can hold back the Bayern attack. This leaves us questioning, with our injuries, if Koeman will play a 4-3-3 or 3-5-2. Either choice, we can’t help but have our doubts about Koeman’s tactical abilities. Will he choose a good line-up, will he have a plan, and lastly, will he make intelligent subs. Of course we cannot forget the attacking capabilities of Lewandowski, Muller, & Davies. The tactical mindset of Julian Nagelsmann has proven to be great in Bundesliga and the Champions League. Barca International News: Alba/Dest Injuries, Depay Hat Trick, Pique on Bartomeu Bayern Munich Next!

The BarcaBreakdown discuss the injuries to Sergino Dest and Jordi Alba on international duty, Memphis Depay's Hat Trick for the Netherlands, and Gerard Pique speaking out against Bartomeu. International break has been a plague for FC Barcelona recently. During this break, it seems Sergino Dest and Jordi Alba have both sustained injuries on their national teams. These injuries could not have come at a worst time. Barcelona already has a decent list of injured players (namely Fati, Dembele, Aguero, and Pique) who will not be ready for the HUGE game against Bayern Munich. This is the first game of the Champions League Group Stages. We all know what occurred last we met Bayern (8-2). Barca generally have trouble with providing width for the team but with both wings injured we may have to rely on the likes of Roberto, Mingueza, and Balde. This will affect us on the defensive and offensive side leaving us susceptible to attacks and a lack of open play. Hopefully Koeman can create a game plan to accommodate our deficiencies and accordingly. In other International news, Memphis Depay has scored his first hattrick for the Netherlands international team. The newly acquired Dutchman has shown extraordinary promise at Barca during preseason and the beginning of this season. Barca need a player of his caliber and scoring ability to keep them in the race for La Liga and in the long shot for Champions League. Lastly, Pique (the voice of the people) has come out and expressed his distaste for our previous President, Bartomeu. Pique has stated he has not known all the presidents of Barca, but he must be the worst or at the very least, up there. This scrutiny comes after many senior players on Barca have taken pay cuts and many players (Messi and Greizmann included) have left Barca to adjust for the financial difficulties the club has been facing. Rightfully so, Bart has been criticized for his absurd contracts and mismanagement of the team. Please like, comment and subscribe to our channel! Barcelona News: FATI #10 & DEMBELE #7| Umtiti Cries, Pjanic Criticisms, and Koeman “IDEAL” Manager??

The BarcaBreakdown discuss how FC Barcelona have decided on their new #10 to follow Lionel Messi, Ansu Fati! The young La Masia star who has stolen our hearts. Having just recently been cleared to return to play, Fati now bears the weight of the #10 jersey. We discuss the pros and cons of Fati taking on this role. In similar news, the leaving of Griezmann left the #7 jersey which allowed Ousmane Dembele to take his old Dortmund jersey #7. The Breakdown also discusses Umtiti’s talks with Laporta in which he says he felt he hadn’t had the care he needed and wanted to prove his worth at Barcelona. Reports are Laporta wants Koeman to utilize Umtiti (as well as Puig) after these discussions. Speaking of Ronald Koeman, Pjanic who has just left to Besiktas, had some major criticism of the manager. He states that Koeman would not face him or come to practices for players who did not get game time. Suggesting a failure as manager to help his team improve. Lastly, reports have emerged claiming the Barca board has said Koeman is the ideal coach for Barca and will stay. A confusing statement for how the last season and this season have been going. We have questioned in the past Koemans strategies (or lack thereof) and how anything that has been done is ideal. Please like, comment and subscribe to our channel! The BarcaBreakdown discuss, in a turn of events, after two years at FC Barcelona, Antoine Greizmann returned to Atletico Madrid. This comes at the final window of the transfer window on 31 Aug 2021. Barca agreed to release Greizmann on loan for $10 Million and an obligation to buy for $40 Million. We discuss what this means for the team and our initial reactions to this news.

Ultimately, Barcelona’s financial troubles and disastrous leadership of Bartomeu have plagued the team resulting in some very surprising news. At the end of the day, Laporta has been losing our trust as we question his election promises and where we are today.

Greizmann will join the 2019-2020 La Liga Champions with Luis Suarez in an attempt to take the title 2 years in a row.

Another Dutchman arrives at FC Barcelona from Sevilla, Luuk De Jong. Barca will cover his wages with an option to buy. This comes when we lose Greizmann and still have a roster of attackers on injury including Augero, Dembele, and not yet to return to live play, Fati.

Lastly, we had Ilaix Moriba and Emerson depart and signed to RB Leipzig and Tottenham Hotspurs, respectively. Ilaix has been on his way out and will be leaving for $15 Million. Emerson only being at the club for 2 months comes at a surprise as Laporta had stated “Emerson will stay for many years”. The summer transfer window has come to an end, again leaving Barca and the fans wondering, what will happen next?

Barcelona vs. Getafe (2-1): Depay Scores! Griezmann Invisible.. Koeman CLUELESS?? Match Review!

Barca faced off against Getafe at the Camp Nou with a less than convincing victory. Even though Barca were able to score two goals in the first half from Sergi Roberto and Memphis Depay, Getafe was able to take advantage against the weak defense of Barca. Getafe, a team who could not score against a 10 man Valencia was able to place the ball past Ter Stegen. The biggest criticisms fall upon Greizmann and Koeman. Griezmann was invisible, not involved in the attack against Getafe whatsoever. Koeman has proven to provide zero tactical prowess regarding any mindful plan on the pitch. To add to this, subs were only utilized to maintain the lead and not used to improve the game or replace tired or poor performing players. Where are Puig and Coutinho? Koeman needs to rotate players and find new tactical choices. Experiment with the players you have and make some smart decisions. Utilizing the same line up and only making changes when it;s too late is not intelligent football or leadership. The positives were single player standout performances from Depay, Frenkie De Jong, and Ronald Araujo. Our future looks grim as we head into a 2 week international break and play against Sevilla. As well we will be playing against Atletico Madrid and Real Mardrid coming October. Please like, comment and subscribe to our channel! Athletic Bilbao vs. FC Barcelona (1-1): Memphis Depay Rescues a Point with First Goal! MATCH REVIEW!

The BarcaBreakdown discusses the second game of the 2021-22 La Liga Season which resulted in a 1-1 draw against Athletic Bilbao. Ronald Koeman went with the same line-up as he did against La Real.

The first half of the game had blunders from the likes of Eric Garcia and Neto. This allowed Inaki Williams to threaten us multiple times which finally resulted in a goal from Martinez. Braithwaite (who had an early chance on goal) and Greizmann were hardly seen on the ball for any time of forward play. To add to the dismay, Pique came off early in the game due to injury and was replaced by Araujo, who played wonderfully, even attempting a bicycle kick goal that was overturned.

Positive highlights of the game came in the form of some beautiful offensive and defensive work rate from Frenkie De Jong, a stalwart in the midfield. Unfortunately, Pedri looked a little tied but still played well. He will be receiving a 2 week vacation to give him some rest time.

Finally in the 75’ Depay scored a well controlled rocket of a shot past the goal to equalize. Near the end of the game Depay went just wide to miss the net to take the lead. The result, a 1-1 draw at San Mames, leaves Barca with 4 points for the season.

Koeman has his work ahead of him leading into next week's game at the Camp Nou against Getafe.

FC Barcelona vs. Real Sociedad 4-2: Braithwaite/Pique Goals Start the Post Messi Era at the Camp Nou

The BarcaBreakdown discuss FC Barcelona's 4-2 victory against Real Sociedad in the first La Liga game of the season. With goals by Gerard Pique, 2 by Martin Braithwaite, and Sergi Roberto, Ronald Koeman's team played some beautiful football/soccer in the first game after Lionel Messi's departure to PSG from Barca. The team did have some defensive lapses in the second half as we allowed 2 goals to La Real.

For the starting lineup, Koeman mainly went with an expected 11 anchored by the midfield of Pedri, Busquets, and Frenkie de Jong. Up front, Barca had Memphis Depay, Braithwaite, and Antoine Griezmann. In the back, the biggest surprise was starting Erica Garcia over Lengelet or Araujo, to go along with Sergino Dest, Gerard Pique, and Jordi Alba.

The offense looked explosive, with Barca routing Real Sociedad at the Camp Nou for most of the game. Memphis Depay impressed on his first official Barca game, though he was not able to get his first goal. Koeman utilized all 5 subs, which seemed to have thrown off the cohesion amongst the lineup, as Emerson, Araujo, and Lengelet all subbed in for our defense.

Real Reason Why Messi Left Barca! Life After Messi? How Can FC Barcelona Fans Get Excited Again?

The BarcaBreakdown discuss Messi leaving to PSG and the reason why Messi left. In our opinion, Laporta and the FC Barcelona board left Messi no choice, as Laporta valued the Super League and rejecting the CVC Capital Partners deal over retaining Messi. Though as fans this sounds incomprehensible, it is clear that Laporta was looking out for Barca's future, with an understanding that the Super League is necessary for Barca to grow and succeed in the future.

It must be said, the fault here is entirely on Bartomeu. The decisions made by Laporta and the Board were forced due to our financial ruin brought on by Bartomeu. However, there are still issues we have with how this was handled.

Our issue comes with the way that Laporta promised the Barca socio would vote for the Super League before FC Barcelona joined. However, with Messi, we made a choice for the Super League before any Socios voted. Even if the choices made by the board are the best for Barca's future, in the end we needed to do a better job of the farewell from Messi.

Looking to the future, there are some new things about life without Messi that we can be excited about. For one, there is no more pressure to be the favorites in every big game, which hopefully can mean some of our younger players can develop without the same pressure. Players like Fati, Dembele, De Jong, Collado, Demir, Puig etc can now play without every game having the ramifications of being part of Messi's legacy. As well, it will be nice to see this team develop after Messi and begin a new era for Barca. Please like, comment and subscribe to our channel!

Barcelona vs. Juventus (3-0): Joan Gamper Trophy 2021 Match Review! Depay, Braithwaite & Puig SCORE!

The BarcaBreakdown discuss, with Messi’s official farewell, FC Barcelona has won the Joan Gamper Trophy with a 3-0 victory over Juventus. A sad yet promising day in Barca’s future. We saw some wonderful young faces and goals with the likes of Depay and Puig. We discuss today’s performance and how we will move forward as we start the 2021-22 Season next week. Before the game, it was reported that Frenkie De Jong, Lenglet, and Sergio Aguero were injured and will be out for a few weeks. Despite this, we had a great opener to the first half with a wonderful goal from Memphis Depay, assisted by Demir. In the second half we had 2 goals beginning with a corner from Depay and Braithwaite placing a flying header in the back of the net. Near the end of the game, a pass from Nic, Puig takes a turn and pummels the ball in the back of the Juventus net. The game showed wonderful pressure and defensive work rates from forwards, Greizmann and Braithwaite. Of course Araujo looked strong and bullied with his big body and Pique tactfully cleared balls. Roberto still has no place on the pitch but it was wonderful to see Neto gaining some traction by deflecting multiple shots including an attempt from Ronaldo. Neto won the MVP of the game and Busquets held up the trophy after the match as captain with a smile. Please like, comment and subscribe to our channel! Leo Messi is LEAVING FC Barcelona! Laporta Promise NOT Kept. La Liga Power Play? Messi-Neymar Again?

The BarcaBreakdown discuss the GINORMOUS news that FC Barcelona have confirmed Messi WILL NOT sign for Barca next season. After all signs, and words from Laporta, had pointed to a Messi renewal, the wage restrictions from La Liga apparently/allegedly mean Messi cannot sign for Barca and he may go to PSG or Manchester City!

The day began with a normal meeting between Jorge Messi and the FC Barcelona Board/Laporta, where Barca and Messi were supposed to finalize the deal and announce the renewal press conference. All was in order to get Messi’s renewal signed and to have Messi announced as the Captain of Barca for the Joan Gamper game against Juventus (and Cristiano Ronaldo).

Then MARCA came with the big report that Barca was apart from Messi renewing. The new CVC Capital Partner purchase of 10% of La Liga was at odds with Barca and Real Madrid’s desires. And suddenly, the BOMBAZO as FC Barcelona’s official Twitter/Facebook accounts sent out the official statement that Messi would not sign.

Fabrizio Romano has reported that Laporta told Jorge Messi the club cannot afford Messi due to La Liga/Tebas’s restrictions. However, some people (including us) believe this is a power play by FC Barcelona to have La Liga loosen the restrictions. As ESPN’s new TV Rights deal for La Liga just passed, not having Messi in the league will certainly diminish the worth of La Liga and other clubs in the league.

If the news is true, and no bigger play is going on here, Messi will likely end up at PSG with Neymar and Mbappe. Or, Messi may end up with Pep Guardiola at Manchester City. However, this does leave the question of what will happen with Barca signings like Depay, Griezmann, Aguero etc.
