We are surrounded by stereotypes and while many of them are true, often times they are completely false.  The stereotype had to start from somewhere though, so likely there is a little bit of true to it.  So on this episode of the Ones Ready podcast, we chat about some of those stereotypes that the listeners have to debunk or confirm what you've heard.  Some of them were pretty damn funny too!  Please enjoy the episode and give us your feedback. In this episode of the Ones Ready podcast we have Dr. Doug in the Team Room.  Dr. Doug has a background much more impressive than our own as he has helped train athletes in the Major Baseball League, the National Basketball Association, X-games, and even the Summer Olympics.  Another little known fact is that he was one of the USAF's 12 Outstanding Airmen of the Year, which he's not a big fan of talking about!  Dr. Doug deep dives shine splints, rucking, treading water, static vs dynamic stretching, and even touches finning a little bit.  Please enjoy the episode and give us your feedback. Buckle up for this episode because we have Jason Ellis on!  Jason or as most people know him Ellismate is a retired professional skateboarder from Australia.  Along with Tony Hawk, Ellismate dominated the skating community for many years before transitioning to one of the highest rated shows on Sirius XM.  Recently though, Ellismate has left all of that behind to start his own podcast.  We hit a wide range of topics from adversity, haters, building your tribe, to work ethic.  There are a lot of good lessons in this one, so pay attention and don't mind our bad Aussie accents or Ellismate's terrible American accent! Please enjoy the episode and give us your feedback. Getting Selected: From 18A to 18D, to PA, to USAF PJ to CRO
4739

On this week’s episode of the Ones Ready podcast we sit down with RJ Casey who is basically like the guy you only read about...an all American hero.  RJ has a resume that would make Arnold jealous!  After attending the New Mexico Military Institute he commissioned into the Army as an 11A, then went to Ranger school and the Special Forces Selection Course to become an 18A.  RJ wanted to get his hands dirty even more so he resigned his commission as an officer and became an enlisted 18D.  Somewhere in here he also went to PA school after being an 18D to where he was deployed in the early days of Iraq.  He left Iraq and spent 10 days chilling and relaxing before then going through INDOC as an E-7.  RJ then became a PJ to where he missed the officer side of the house and decided to go CRO.  Now as a CRO he is assigned to the Cocoa Beach PJ team, helps with the NASA Space mission, and advises on movies in the US and overseas.  Please enjoy the episode and give us your feedback. What is AF Pararescue?

On this week’s episode of the Ones Ready podcast we take a deep dive into everything Pararescue.  You’ll know some of the differences between PJs and 18Ds from an aspect of clinical medicine versus trauma.  Pararescue has a wide array of mission set they can cover down on.  Anything from high angle rescue, swift water rescue, extraction, CSAR, and anything Personnel Recovery related.  Pararescue epitomizes the "jack of all trades, master of none" saying, but let's be real here...there is no one better at high angle rescue, swift water rescue, and extrication that PJs!  Please enjoy the episode and give us your feedback. Work Ethic in AF Specwar
3135

On this week’s episode of the Ones Ready podcast we discuss different work ethics each of us have and what drives each of us everyday.  It's all about out working people.  Having talent is great, but we all would prefer someone who is less talented with an incredible work ethic versus someone who is talented, but doesn't put in the effort.  These aspects translate to taking care of team gear and team priorities before your own personal needs.  Time management is critical in being successful for this when you have to go through things like Airman Leadership School, NCO Academy, SNCO Academy, PA school, family, training, or whatever you have going on in life.  Please enjoy the episode and give us your feedback. USAF Special Warfare: Misconceptions
3335

In the team room this week on the Ones Ready podcast the guys discuss some of the misconceptions they had prior to joining as well as some misconceptions that come from questions about AFSPECWAR.  Most people think that every day SOF is out kicking in doors, jumping from planes, riding dirt bikes, and blowing shit up!  Although these things happen often, they are not happening every day.  There are days where required military training has to occur or medical appointments.  In order to train effectively, the training must be planned well to figure out the logistics required to accomplish said training.  This training can't be planned well when all you're doing is cool guy shit!  Please enjoy the episode and give us your feedback. Becoming A Combat Rescue Officer

Buckle up ladies and gentlemen because this episode of the Ones Ready podcast is a doozy!  Capt Jon "JMac" MacKenzie is a USAF Special Warfare Combat Rescue Officer or CRO for short.  JMac was prior enlisted as a USAF Crew Chief where he worked on C-130s, but then crosstrained to be an enlisted PJ.  After doing the PJ mission for 10+ years he was compelled to take the officer route which landed him as a CRO.  JMac covers a bunch of different topics, like failures, why he made the move he did, a lot on Phase II, and deployments.  He's a bundle of energy that cannot and will not be contained.  He's a good friend of ours and will help to stir you in the right direction for your path to be a CRO, AFSPECWAR, or the SOF Community as a whole.  Please enjoy this episode and give us your feedback. Why USAF Special Warfare?

On this week's episode of the Ones Ready podcast, the team will discuss what initially drew them to the US Air Force Special Warfare and provide a bit of background information into who and what influenced them to join.  Interesting enough you'll find out that maybe the Ones Ready team wasn't a bunch of hard charging military wannabe's.  Some came from large military families where as others were the first to venture into the military.  Many of you may be going through some similar experiences that we did when we were training for the pipeline and had the same discussions with family and friends.  Please enjoy this episode and give us your feedback. Lessons from ALO/TACP Selection
2662

On this week's episode of the Ones Ready podcast, we sit down with Amanda who is an active duty Major in the US Air Force.  She's been in Force Support the majority of her career which she will explain what Force Support is during the episode.  After a few years in though, she had the chance to become one of the first TACP females after combat related jobs opened up to women.  As a seasoned officer and physical specimen, she was a force to be reckoned with.  She'll go through some of her challenges that she faced during assessment and selection, some of her favorite and not so favorite parts of the pipeline, and also how she ultimately was not able to pass due to a land navigation error.  This was a fun episode to record and gives some good insight and perspective to consider when you're considering joining Special Warfare.  Please enjoy this episode and give us your feedback. TACPs Explain Pros and Cons of the Air National Guard
2866

On this week's episode of the Ones Ready podcast, we sit down with Ben and Cody who are Air National Guard TACPs and discuss what some of the differences are between USAF Active Duty and Air National Guard.  We go into detail about the transition from Active Duty to Air National Guard, how someone can go straight into the Guard if desired, and what daily life is like as a Guard member.  Though this is focused on TACPs, much of the Air National Guard nuances translate directly over to the Guard Special Tactics Squadrons.  Each until in the Air National Guard handles their recruitment process differently in both the Special Tactics Squadron and Air Support Operations Squadron realms.  Please enjoy this episode and give us your feedback. Failure at Special Warfare Selection
4199

On this week's episode of the Ones Ready podcast, we talk about what failing means to us.  We have all failed in the past and really continue to fail on a daily basis (just being real with you).  We'll discuss what we mean by failing forward, failing fast and how to deal with some failures in your life. We also talk about some of our personal failures and talk about how focusing on your failures could cause you to fail over and over.  Funny enough we also discuss how one of our teammates from our time in the UK failed by jumping, focusing on a cow, hitting said cow, having said cow poop on him, and then being dragged through more poop.  It's a good little story!  Please enjoy this episode and give us your feedback. Everyone is going to want to buckle up for this rollercoaster of an episode where the Ones Ready team and  “OB” discuss how the Thai Cave Rescue transpired.  These teams from numerous countries were able to work together against all odds (a continuously flooding cave, hungry and scared kids, cold water, an enormous cave network, shall I continue???).  There are some real nailbiters in this episode and you can see it in the faces of the Ones Ready team as OB explains what happened.  Everyone involved in this rescue did an outstanding job and is the reason that soccer team is alive today.  This type of high-level problem solving is exactly what Special Warfare is looking for and if this is the type of person you are, then you need to join us!  Please enjoy this episode and give us your feedback. Unconventional Surgery, USAF SOST
3653

The U.S. Air Force Special Operations Command has a unique set of skills.  Skills that make saving lives easy for someone like them.  They're called the Special Tactics Special Operations Surgical Team or SOST for short.  The Ones Ready team spoke to two of these SOST pipe hitters about what it takes to be SOST and the type of person they're looking for.  Their ability and willingness to push to forward locations with SOF teams make them uniquely qualified to save lives in less than perfect situations.  SOST also shoot, move, and communicate as part of the SOF core skillset that has come to be expected of every SOF element in the inventory.  A solid section of questions from Ones Ready followers with answers to your questions.  Please enjoy this episode and give us your feedback. How To Become The Optimal SW Candidate

The Ones Ready team is going to dive into some of the more common questions we get to help you out!  Some of these questions include "should I go to college first and then join?" or "what sports should I be doing in high school to help me prepare?" and many more.  You are not the only one with these questions and we recognize that!  This is why we made this episode specifically because everyone's situation is different and it's possible that the best way to prepare for entering the pipeline is not how you expect it to be.  We recommend you live your life and enjoy yourself. Shockingly Aaron suggests you go get into some "low-level trouble"!!!  What's that all about?  Please enjoy this episode and give us your feedback. USAF SOF TACP Questions Answered!
3334

Every once in a while living legends will step in your life and function at such a high-level that they unwillingly embarrass you.  Roomba is that person in the TACP career field.  Roomba started off as a conventional TACP working large maneuvering Army Armor (tanks) units. Building on his foundations he wanted more, so he went to Airborne School to increase his abilities.  Even that wasn't enough for Roomba, so he applied and was selected to attend the United States Air Force Weapons School which is an enormous accomplishment.  After graduating he went back to his unit and led his people to successful engagements in deployed locations until he again decided that he wanted more.  That's when he transitioned to SOF and is living his best life.  We enjoyed having Roomba on the podcast and look forward to having him on again.

1 Year & 1 Outstanding PJ
3136

What a year Pararescueman TSgt Kenneth "OB" O'Brien has had!  First he was part of the Thai Cave rescue operations, treated a Korean after a tractor fire, was part of President Trump's medical protection detail, saved an infant on his flight on the way to be named United States Air Force 12 Outstanding Airmen Of The Year!  All of this happened in a span of a year, while most people wait their entire career for these opportunities.  OB is an absolute stud, but he comes with baggage.  He is affectionately referred to by his teammates as a "Black Cloud", but he prefers to be considered a "Gray Cloud" because not everything that happens around him turns out bad!  Enjoy getting to know OB as we have and we look forward to having him on the podcast again.

Every human has obstacles in their life that will get between them and their intended goal.  Some of these obstacles are internal obstacles like fear of heights or even your current fitness level.  Other obstacles could be external which could be family, friends, or coworkers questioning if you can make it.  Other external obstacles could be difficulties finding a pool to train in.  Obstacles large and small exist for everyone, but we cannot ignore those obstacles.  We have to move towards these obstacles and attack them intensely in order to make it to our intended goals.  It may not be easy to crush this obstacles, but we know it will be worth it in the end.  Finding the journey through these obstacles will help us to build great character traits that will serve us throughout life!
