Today we are going to be talking about “Finding freedom from an unhealthy relationship with food.” For some of us, our relationship with food can be a constant source of regret, frustration, and shame. For others, it feels like a God-given blessing. Our guest today, Erin Davis, author of the new book, “Fasting & Feasting: 40 Devotions to Satisfy the Hungry Heart,” has experienced all sorts of complicated responses to food. She’s discovered that God’s Word celebrates food as a gift while simultaneously inviting us to surrender every area of our lives—including what we put on our plates. Today we are going to be talking about “The beauty of adoption and the hope of the adoption journey.” This very important topic is going to be discussed as seen through the soon-to-be-released movie “LIFEMARK,” starting on September 9, 2022. This movie is from executive producers the Kendrick Brothers and Kirk Cameron and is based on an incredible true story that celebrates adoption, reconciliation, and love. This topic is very dear to my heart, as some of you may know, I was given up for adoption and I am deeply blessed and grateful that my birth mother made the choice to not only give me life but to allow my adoptive parents the opportunity to realize their dream of having a family.

Today we are going to be talking about “How we long for control.” I think it’s safe to say that a lot of people strongly desire control. Control over their relationships, control over their jobs, and over their kids. The list could go on and on. We crave control and self-sufficiency! But wanting to constantly be in control can leave us hurting, drained, and anxious.  Our guest today, Sharon Hodde Miller, author of the new book, “The Cost of Control: Why We Crave It, The Anxiety It Gives Us, And the Real Power God Promises, will be talking about our relationship with control and why our culture is chronically anxious, and most importantly, she will talk about the real power God has given us in Jesus, to exercise influence over ourselves and our lives.

Season 4 Ep. 29 - How to be the Hands and Feet of Jesus to Immigrants and Refugees w/ Guests Josh Sherif & Sarah Lew Tierney
4207

Today we are going to be talking about “How Immigrants and Refugees Strengthen our churches today” Our country has a long history of immigrants and refugees seeking a better life and finding it in America. For Americans that brings an incredible opportunity to spread the gospel, both individually and also through our local churches. God has called us all to welcome strangers, love our neighbors, and even our enemies, and make disciples of all nations, but sometimes we fail to see the least of these as God does – immensely valuable. Our guests today, Josh Sherif and Sarah Tierney have teamed up to write the book, “The Stranger at Our Shore,” which largely recounts Josh’s journey out of Egypt and Islam to the United States and conversation to the Christian faith. Josh and Sarah help us understand the importance of receiving immigrants into not only our society but lovingly into our churches.

Today we are going to be talking about “Following God’s Will.” While Scripture is full of wisdom and advice, it isn’t always easy to know how God’s Word in the Bible—written thousands of years ago—should apply to our lives now. As a result, many Christian women wrestle with the question, “What does God want me to do—both in general and in specific situations I face every day?” Our guest today, Brittany Ann, author of the upcoming book, “Follow God’s Will: Biblical Guidelines for Everyday Life,” will help us answer these types of questions to boldly pursue God’s will for our lives and find practical ways to live out our faith on a daily basis while helping us understand God’s written Word and how it applies to us today.

Our guest today, Dan Darling, author of the book “The Characters of Creation,” will be talking about the men and women present at the beginning of the world and help clear up some of the questions that may arise when we read through this beautiful book of beginnings—Genesis.

While it’s true the Bible is unified, it is also diverse. Our guest today, Kristie Anyabwile, the author of the book, “Literarily,” will be talking about how the Bible can be grouped according to key categories, called genres, that help us read and properly interpret the Scriptures.

3744

Today we are going to be talking about something that is so applicable right now, as we are in the midst of the Lenten season, and that is “Discovering how Jesus interacted with His disciples in His final hours. We’ll learn how His words and teachings helped them to enter deep into the heart of Jesus and come away changed.” Our guest today is Kim Erickson.  She is the author of a beautifully unique Bible study titled, “His Last Words.” We will be talking about John chapters 13-17 which record Jesus’ last words to the disciples before His death, revealing what mattered most. Kim shares that when we study those words and prayers today, just like the disciples, we enter deep into the heart of Jesus and come away changed.  Be prepared to be overwhelmed by the love of God, inspired to follow Him, and empowered to spread the gospel.

Season 4 Ep. 12 - Successful Christian Entrepreneur Will Change the Way You View Work w/ Guest Jordan Raynor
2420

Today we are going to be talking about “faith and work since the beginning of time."  Our guest today, Jordan Raynor, author of the upcoming children’s book “The Creator in You”, will be giving us a fresh perspective on the creation account from the Bible's first book, Genesis, that helps readers see that "the sixth day" wasn't the end of creation--it was "just the beginning." Jordan has written several books that give adults insight into the meaning of the purpose and value of work.  In fact, it was Jordan’s book called, "Master of One," that I picked up during the pandemic that has really encouraged my decision to step out of corporate America and into doing full time ministry at Coffee and Bible Time beginning April 1st.  His book taught me to imagine how different my life would be if I spent my time doing the very thing that brings me the greatest joy.

Season 4 Ep. 10 - A Beginner's Guide to Meditation w/ Guest Ashley Krause
2015

Today we are going to be talking about “meditation."  What is it?  Is it Christian based?  Who should do it?  Why should we do it?  Where should we do it?  And, how do we do it?  What does meditation look like in your life today?  Is it a practice that you whole-heartedly embrace and are actively meditating, or is it something that you avoid or don’t know much about?  I know for me, meditation is not something that I frankly have given a lot of thought to in a formal sense, but I’m kind of doing it without labeling it as such.  For example, I enjoy Scripture memorization.  So, in the process of memorizing a Scripture, I am thinking about the meaning of the passage and how it applies to my life.  I’m analyzing the verse to see what I can learn from it and how God wants me to respond.  And, I’m also thinking about situations where I will be able to use that verse to help someone in need.  So, let’s see if any of these things fall into the realm of the definition of meditation.  And, if you are not sure what meditation is, or you would like some tips to improve your current meditation practice stay tuned for an in-depth guide to building your meditation skills as my daughter Ashley from Coffee and Bible Time is joining me today to give us a beginner’s guide to Christian meditation.

Season 4 Ep. 8 - Using Scripture to Ground Children in a Christian Worldview w/ Guest Elizabeth Urbanowicz
3239

Today we are going to be talking about “Equipping children to think well through building a Biblical worldview in the formative years and learn the Word of God.”  Children today are faced with so much information coming from so many different places such as: books, cartoons, movies, school, even hearing conversations outside of the home—all at a very young age, that it’s fair to say they will encounter many false ideas and worldly perspectives, early and often. It’s so important as parents to understand that the world is changing at a rapid pace and young minds are very impressionable, so being mindful of teaching our young children early about the Christian Worldview and comparing the information they receive with the truth of Christianity is critical.  Our guest today, Elizabeth Urbanowicz, founder and CEO of Foundation Worldview, will be sharing with us how we can navigate being media-stressed and equipping parents to handle the pressures of this culture and be intentional about equipping our kids to understand and evaluate Biblical truth compared to today’s culture.

Season 4 Ep. 5 - Mom Gives Advice to Newly Engaged Daughter w/ Guest Ashley Krause
1535

Today I’m here with my newly engaged daughter, Ashley and I’m going to be sharing marriage tips.  I love that we are doing this 8 months before the wedding so that you can pray about these and plan ahead.  After being married for 31 years, I want to be clear that there are no perfect marriages, but God will use this relationship that you have with Johnny as part of your sanctification process.  As you navigate each day of marriage, my prayer for each of you is that you will allow the Holy Spirit to guide and direct your relationship and you will experience the fruit of the spirit individually and together as a couple.  Galatians 5:24 says:  When the Holy Spirit controls our lives, it will produce this kind of fruit in us:  Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Gentleness, Faithfulness and Self Control.  So, let’s dive into each of these tips.  I’m also excited to hear about how you are doing many of these things already.

Season 4 Ep. 4 - How to Shift Your Mindset to be More of Him and Less of You w/ Guest Chelsey DeMatteis
2784

Today we are talking about “More of Him; Less of Me” and the Biblical truths and concepts that will help challenge, change and shape the way we think of living a life more focused on Christ in a me-centered world.  This me-centered world begins with our own thoughts that are pervasive in our minds from the minute we wake up until the minute we fall asleep.  In fact, research shows that we have over 6000 thoughts in a day.  What if, we shifted even a portion of our thoughts from this me-mentality to pursuing God fully and whole-heartedly?

Well our guest today, Chelsey DeMatteis, is going to help us explore why and how we can shift our thoughts to more of Christ and less of us.  You will see that when we are saturated with God’s Word and fully see who He is, we will be in awe of God’s character and that will lead us to want to know God more, follow Him, serve Him and be a light in the world.  You will see a shift in thinking away from how we can help ourselves, to how God can transform our lives if we let Him.

Season 4 Ep. 3 - To the Girl who is Stuck Believing Lies about Herself w/ Guest Trish Blackwell
3037

Today we are talking about “How to See Ourselves as God Sees Us" and the AMAZING impact it can have on us when we do so!

It’s incredibly important for us to know, remember and live by our true identity in Christ.  In fact, there are many verses in the Bible that help us see ourselves as God sees us.  Not only are we chosen by God, but we are His children who belong to him.  We are loved by him, so much so, that nothing can separate us from His love.  We are forgiven, cleansed, and in Christ, there is no condemnation against us.  We are strengthened and equipped to do all that God has called us to do.  So much so, that He gives us his Holy Spirit, living inside each one of us, to help us.  We ultimately have peace, because we have hope in Christ and we live with His promise that he will never leave us or forsake us.

Our guest today, Trish Blackwell, the host of The Confidence Podcast and author of the book Straighten Your Crown: Rediscovering That You are Seen, You Matter, and the King Delights in You will be expanding our understanding of how to see yourself as God sees you.

Season 3 Ep. 34 - What did Jesus mean by that? Interpreting difficult passages of scripture w/ guest AJ Levine
2845

Today we are going to be talking about “The Difficult Words of Jesus”.  Have you ever been reading the New Testament and heard the words of Jesus and been completely puzzled?  Well, if so, you are not alone.  Some of the words of Jesus challenge not only beginners, but even seasoned students of scripture.  Thankfully we have scholars who have spent years and years studying the scriptures to help us understand them better.

I’m so honored to have with us today, Amy-Jill Levine, who with her sharp intellect, humor, and imagination, will bring these challenging texts alive for us and invite us in as active participants in the gospel story.  AJ Levine is University Professor of New Testament and Jewish Studies, and Mary Jane Werthan Professor of Jewish Studies Emerita at Vanderbilt Divinity School and College of Arts and Science.  She is an internationally renowned scholar and teacher, she is the author of numerous books including her latest release:  The Difficult Words of Jesus: A Beginner’s Guide to His Most Perplexing Teachings.

Today we are talking about “Sexual Purity.”  Now, this is not going to be a lecture about Honoring God’s Design for Sex Before Marriage. Season 3 Ep. 32 - Does Mom Fatigue Have You Down? w/ America's #1 Mom Coach - Hannah Keeley
2551

Today we are going to be talking about “Mom Fatigue Syndrome.” It’s real. It’s pervasive. And it creeps into every facet of a mom’s life. MFS is caused by a condition known as learned helplessness-discovered in 1965 by Martin Seligman-which leads to overwhelm, depression, exhaustion, fatigue, anxiety, and feeling like you're stuck in a big, fat Mom Fog. Why do moms experience learned helplessness? Because the mom-brain is different. Researchers have even found physical differences in brain scans of women before and after they had children. But moms continually use methods and techniques that do not work with the way their brains are wired. Instead of blaming the program, moms blame themselves, which perpetuates the cycle of Mom Fatigue Syndrome. They end up with no energy, no joy, and no motivation to make things better. If you are a mom, or you know of a mom who needs help, stay tuned to learn from our guest Hannah Keeley about the Mom Mastery Method which is an 8-step formula proven to help thousands of moms radically transform their lives.

Season 3 Ep. 31 - How to Embrace Biblical Truths for a Healthy Emotional Life w/ guest Elizabeth Laing Thompson
2682

Discovering the foundational biblical truths we need to embrace in order to construct an emotional life that is healthy, happy, and holy is the focus of this podcast.  So how are you doing with your feelings?  Do you tend to ride them like a roller coaster?  Do you get stuck in the mud with one feeling or another for way too long?  Or do you feel shame for battling your emotions?  Well, there’s good news for those of us who love God and seek to follow his ways. You might be surprised to hear this, but the Bible has a lot to say about our feelings. It tells us which feelings are godly and good for us, and it even gives us ideas for how to encourage those feelings to grow. The Bible also tells us which emotions we need to watch out for—which ones can hurt us if they get out of control—and gives us ideas for how we can limit or avoid them. The Bible can help us learn how to work on our feelings— to take charge of them, instead of letting them push us around.

Our guest today Elizabeth Laing Thompson shares from her books titled All the Feels and All the Feels for Teens by helping us understand that by embracing how God has designed and created us, we are freed up to have better and more full relationships with others because of our emotions, not in spite of them.

Season 3 Ep. 30 - Let your doubts lead to faith! - w/guest Rajat Dhiman
2413

Have you experienced being set free by the Gospel message?  If so, the Bible makes it very clear, that each and every one of us is called to share our faith.  But what does the reality of sharing the Christian faith look like to you?  Is it scary?  Do you not know what to say?  Or maybe you have shared your faith and nothing happened.  We must keep in mind that we can’t open someone’s heart to the truth of the Gospel message, only God can by His Spirit.  But the most amazing thing happens when we partner with God - it's a WIN-WIN:  When we share our faith with others, God allows us to be part of His life-transforming work and share in His joy, while the person who receives the Gospel message experiences the gift of knowing the truth which sets them free.

Our guest today, YouTuber Rajat Dhiman (Biblical Dhiman) will be sharing his own journey of how his doubts led him to faith, and then how God called and equipped him to boldly share his faith in a demographic where that is not always welcomed or easy to do.
