Grizzly Bear Attack - Night of the Grizzly: Part 3 - The Aftermath
01:43:39

This is the third and final episode of Night of the Grizzly. On this episode, Wes walks us through the immediate aftermath of the worst night in the history of Glacier National Park, and how it completely altered how we look at and deal with grizzly bears, as well as how much needed to change in park visitor safety. If you haven't heard parts 1 and 2 yet, we strongly recommend you do, as Wes prepared like a man possessed to tell the story as accurately as possible. It has been a total labor of love, and we couldn't be happier to share the concluding chapter with all of you. Thank you for listening. Grizzly Bear Attack - Night of the Grizzly: Part 1
01:41:07

On this episode, we begin what is almost certainly our most ambitious project yet with part 1 of Night of the Grizzly, the tragic story of two grizzly attacks occurring on the same night in Glacier National Park. Wes prepared like a madman to get this episode to be as accurate and entertaining as possible, so we think you all are going to really enjoy it. Jeff makes another ill-advised bet but turns it around with some quick thinking, and Mike almost gets outed for dumpster diving for donuts. Follow us over at our Instagram at toothandclawpodcast, and if you have a quick minute, help us out by rating and reviewing us wherever you listen to the show! Cobra Attack - Suraj Strikes Twice
01:22:54

Hey everyone, welcome back to another episode of Tooth and Claw. Today, Wes takes us through the cobra attack that took place in the South Indian state of Kerala just a couple of months ago. There's a lot of intrigue and an unusual amount of evil going on in this episode compared to most of our others, so hang on to your seats. Wes proposes we bring back the old Eye for an Eye justice, Jeff has questions about puberty, Mike opens up about Jafar, Jasmine, and his trust issues, and somehow the guys are still arguing about cake and ice cream.

Thanks for listening! And if you have a moment to spare, head over to Apple Podcasts and leave us a rating and a review, it really does go a long way to help us. Thanks again!

Animal Attack News Roundup - Toilet Snakes, A Storm of Scorpions, and The Aporkalypse
01:21:38

On this episode of Tooth and Claw, we cover some of the more noteworthy animal attacks that have occurred recently (Jeff breaks this rule. Kind of. But what do we expect at this point...) Wes of course does his best to make sense of Jeff and Mike's stories, and manages to teach us some important lessons we can take away from it all, which is a tall order since we bring up exotic dancing monkeys, more of everyone's favorite recurring segment Coyote's be Wylin', and other other similarly wild stories. Thanks to everyone who submitted headlines and stories you wanted us to cover, we definitely do look at them and in some cases use them on these episodes! And thank you to everyone who has left us a review on Apple Podcasts. It really does make a big difference for us in getting our show discovered by other listeners. You're the best!

Crocodile Attack - The Killer Croc Down Under
01:07:36

On this episode, we cover the story of a saltwater crocodile attack that took place South of Darwin, Australia. It involves 3 young friends out for a day of fun on the banks of a flooding river and, due to an enormous crocodile, it unfortunately ends in tragedy. Wes, as usual, does a bang-up job getting us to both fall in love with and harbor a mortal fear of the world's largest reptile, while Jeff continues to argue that crocodiles would be good at sports and Mike reveals his conspiracy theory about the crocodile hunter. Thanks for listening! We appreciate all of the kind reviews over at Apple Podcasts and the new subscribers over at our Patreon, we hope that you are all enjoying the bonus content we have there just for you. See you in the next one!

Bee Attack - NOT THE BEES!!!
01:22:44

Welcome to another episode of Tooth and Claw! This time, we're talking about bees. This story takes place down in the hills of Hueco Tanks down in Texas, and involves two men getting swarmed by bees at a moment of total vulnerability. Of all the animals we've covered on the show so far, bees might just have the weirdest and coolest collection of behavioral and biological facts, and Wes does his best to scratch the surface of what makes them so unique. Mike and Jeff spend most of the episode trying not to make bee puns. Thanks for listening! And if you have a moment, leave us a review over at Apple Podcasts, it really does help our show grow and reach new people. Thanks!

Vampire Bat Attack - The Spook-tacularly Rabid Halloween Special
01:06:05

Welcome back to Tooth and Claw! On this episode, we're all happy to be talking about one of the signature animals of the Halloween season: the vampire bat. Wes has some really wild and super interesting facts as well as a couple of stories to share that really surprised us, while Jeff makes a really good comparison on purpose and Mike maybe admits that he has a thing for feet but it isn't all the way clear. Thanks again for listening! Don't forget to get in on the action over on our Instagram at ToothandClawPodcast. And while you're there, why not leave a comment on one of our posts about any spooky movies suggestions you have for us, we're all always looking to add to our Halloween "to-watch" list. And as always, if you want more Tooth and Claw we have about 18 bonus episodes and counting over on our Patreon page, with more being posted every other week. Animal Attack News Roundup - Leopards, Gators, Bears, and The Big Money Anniversary Quiz
01:02:49

It's time for another roundup of all the wildest animal attack headlines of the past month or so. Thanks to all of you listeners for helping find some great stories and sending them in! Wes, Jeff, and Mike all have a handful of interesting wild animal attack stories to share, and Wes somehow finds ways to keep things informative around here despite the other two's best efforts. In the second half of the episode Wes quizzes Mike and Jeff as a way to celebrate the first ever Tooth and Claw anniversary. It turns out that Mike and Jeff need to listen a little better.

Thanks for listening, we hope you all enjoy the episode!

Coyote Attack - The Cape Breton Coyotes and the Folk Music Singer
01:07:14

On this episode of Tooth and Claw, we talk about the tragic attack that took place up in Canada involving Taylor Mitchell, the unfortunate victim of a very rare, possibly even singular encounter with a pack of coyotes. We wanted to share this story since we can learn a lot about how to prevent and hopefully avoid any similar situations any of us may find ourselves in, and how best to act if ever we are unfortunate enough to fall victim to such an attack. Also in this episode, Wes debunks some very grave misinformation about Wile E. Coyote, Mike digs up some deeply rooted memories of a movie he has never seen, and Jeff hits an astounding new low in his social life. Thanks for listening everyone! We appreciate you all so much, and hope that you enjoy the show.

Grizzly Bear Attack - Grouchy Glacier Grizzly
01:07:24

Hey everyone, here's the latest episode of Tooth and Claw. Wes has another grizzly bear story to share on this one, with a little bit of a mystery twist. A slight one. I don't want to oversell it or anything, but regardless, its an interesting story with a lot to learn from. Jeff learns that bears probably can't operate cameras, and Mike thinks it's time for "Stop, Drop and Roll" to move over and make room for the next big safety saying. Thanks for listening, we hope you enjoy it! Follow us on Instagram if you haven't yet, at toothandclawpodcast. We try to post either cool or educational stuff there all the time. In our estimation, we would classify ourselves as a "Must Follow." But that's just us.

Jaguar Attack - Beware the Jaguars Jaws
01:10:57

On this episode of Tooth and Claw, Wes prepared a few stories to share with us all about the rare but no-less-violent jaguar attack, so strap on your helmets and join us for the ride. Also, Jeff confuses movies with real life again and Mike is asked to talk about how jaguars are featured in various different religions but just kind of talks about drugs instead. Thanks for listening! If you have any questions you want to ask us, follow us over at our Instagram account, ToothandClawPodcast. We hope you enjoy the episode.

Animal Attack News Roundup - The Scales & Tails Alligator Attack with Lindsay Bull, Wildin' Coyotes, and the 100-Pound Beehive
56:28

On this episode, we cover the past month's biggest headlines concerning wild animal attacks. Also, we got Lindsay Bull on the show with us to do an interview! She was the trainer at Scales and Tails who got bit and then rolled over on by Darth Gator, the alligator she works as a trainer for. By now you all have probably seen the video, but if not, check it out over on our Instagram account. Seriously wild stuff. Also in this episode, Jeff comes up with a new segment to astounding success, and Mike loses and then quickly regains his will to continue on. Thank for listening, we hope you all enjoy the episode!

Bull Shark Attack - What's the Spanish Word for Shark?
01:14:00

Hey everyone, welcome back to Tooth and Claw. On this episode, we cover the story of a shark attack that takes place down in Cancun, Mexico. We talk about how the attack went down, what caused it, and how, perhaps, it could have been avoided. This is an inspiring tale of a woman who was strong enough to survive and go onto share her experience with a bull shark with the rest of the world, helping many others find the strength to live their best life. Wes has some truly interesting facts to share about bull sharks, Jeff flexes his language skills for once, and Mike doesn't like sand.

Thanks for listening! We hope you enjoy the episode. Please, if you have a moment, help us out by giving us a rating and review on Apple Podcasts. It helps more than you know! And if you want more Tooth and Claw, consider joining us over on our Patreon at www.patreon.com/toothandclawpodcast. Horse Attack - Love 'em or Hate 'em
01:02:55

Hey everyone, welcome back to Tooth and Claw! On this episode, we have a special guest to talk a little bit about Mike's least favorite animal, horses. Will she be able to change his mind at all, or will he continue to be a huge negative nelly? Also, Wes takes us through the story of an extra-exciting parade involving a couple of runaway horses, and Jeff puts more of Mike's money on the line.

Grizzly Bear Attack - Al, The Man Who Punched a Bear
01:02:50

In this episode, we cover another grizzly bear attack story, this one taking place in a campsite. Believe it or not, this actual makes what would already be a precarious situation all the more unpredictable. Wes shares his knowledge on how to appropriately respond to such a confrontation, while Jeff reminds us all that he does NOT want a bear hug and Mike wonders if Johnny Appleseed spread the seeds around by pooing them out.

Thank you for listening! We hope you enjoy the episode. Follow us over on Instagram at ToothandClawPodcast, we love hearing from you all!

Animal Attack News Roundup - Whale Gulps Man, Girl Pushes Bear, and More
01:03:42

Hey everyone, here's the newest animal attack roundup where we cover the biggest animal attack stories to hit the news recently. In this episode, we'll be talking about the man who was swallowed by a whale, the California teen who pushed a bear off of her wall to protect her dogs, and a handful of other interesting stories Wes felt were important to share. Wes also thought it important to share some text messages from Mike that were not meant for him, let alone the public at large completely betraying his trust. Meanwhile, Jeff shares a story from his college days that probably should have caused some headlines itself.

Thanks for listening everyone! We hope you're enjoying this format of the show, keep sending us fun stories you like to see us cover in the next one. And as always, we'd very much appreciate a nice review from you guys on Apple podcasts. We read all of your kind words, and it helps us out so much. See you in the next one!

Rattlesnake Attack - Heads and Tails: The Western Diamondback
01:09:14
On this episode, Wes covers what might just be the weirdest animal attack we've talked about so far. A lot of misinformation gets dispelled, meaning Mike learns a lot of new things (big surprise), while Jeff has what might just be his most nonsensical idea of how to deal with an attack situation yet. A quick producers note: We had a small hiccup while recording, hopefully none of you are bothered by it. You may not even notice it. But if you do, just know that it gets cleared up at around the 20 minute mark. Thanks for listening everyone! You all are the best, we appreciate so much all of your support. We hope you enjoy the episode!

Cassowary Attack - Kicking and Screaming
57:20

This is one of the more unique episodes we've done so far, on an animal that many people haven't even ever heard of. Or maybe that's just Mike. Wes shares a bunch of different cassowary attack stories, Jeff poses a really good and related (?) question, and the crew learns all kinds of cool things about cassowaries as well as introduces a few new wrinkles to the regular episode formula.

Thanks for listening! We hope you enjoy the episode.

Black Bear Attack: Bear vs. Bacon
01:12:46

Today we go over the story of Cynthia Dusel-Bacon, who spent her summers  working in the wilds of Alaska taking geological samples. But on one  fateful day in 1977, she was the one that was sampled; by a relatively  small but still insanely powerful black Bear that had decided it wanted  to make a meal of her. If you weren’t aware, Wes loves bears, so he  spends most of the episode explaining why the attack happened and how  black Bear attacks are so rare considering how many of them there are.  Also Jeff tries (and fails) to pronounce some of your names and we  finally get Mike to admit which cartoon bears he loves the most.

May 28, 2021
Animal Attacks Monthly Update - Bobcat Tossing, and Animals vs. Humans
42:12

On this episode, Wes gathered up a bunch of notable animal attacks that hit the news over the past month and discusses them with Jeff and Mike. Afterwards, the crew talks about the Animals vs. Humans poll that's been making the rounds online recently, and it goes off the rails pretty quickly.

Thanks for listening, we hope you enjoy the show!

May 21, 2021
Mountain Lion and Crocodile Attack - Mother's Day Special
01:06:41

On this episode, we are joined by the one and only Cindy Larson, the greatest biological mother Jeff and Wes have ever had. Wes prepared two  stories of incredible motherly strength and instinct, and delves into a little bit of the science behind the "mother bear" behavior seen not only from animals, but humans too. Happy Mother's Day everyone!

May 07, 2021
Spider Attack - Yorick, The Sydney Funnel-Web Spider
01:07:41
On this episode, Wes has an only-slightly creepy, a little sad, and surprisingly endearing story about a woman, her family, and a spider. Jeff gets inappropriate again, and Mike follows suit.  We hope you guys enjoy the show! Thanks again for all of your support, your reviews on Apple podcasts have done a lot for us, and so many of you are sharing the podcast with your friends which helps us tremendously. We don't know how to thank you other than by trying our best to keep making our show better. So thank you again.

Lion Attack - The Lions of Tsavo Part 2
01:04:30
Wes and the gang wrap up the story of the Lions of Tsavo after first getting embroiled in the age old debate of what’s better, ice powers or tree powers. We hope you enjoy it! Thanks for listening!
Apr 16, 2021
Lion Attack - The Lions of Tsavo
01:16:49
Wes came extra prepared this time to go over the much-requested, long-awaited story of the Tsavo lions. These two lions truly caused about as much havoc as any large predators in history, and brought an entire railway operation to a complete halt! We know you guys are going to love this one.
Apr 09, 2021
Oceanic White Tip Shark Attack - A Sharky Shipwreck Story
49:58
Wes takes us out to the ocean this time to tell a tale of a shipwreck and shark attack. That's two awful things, but Jeff musters up enough confidence to feel that he could survive the situation just fine. Meanwhile, Mike learns and then uses a new word. Thanks for listening everyone! We hope you enjoy the episode. And please, if you have a moment, leave us a rating and review the show over on Apple Podcasts, it really helps us out a lot!
Mar 26, 2021
Monitor Lizard Attack - The Monitor Murder Mystery
53:14
On this episode, Wes takes us through one of the more bizarre and mysterious animal attacks the show has discussed thus far, involving a man named Ron and way too many monitor lizards. Jeff gets excited talking about lizard genitalia, and Mike ponders the possibility of the reptilians being responsible. Thanks for listening! Please, if you have a second or two, rate this podcast on Apple podcasts, and subscribe so you don't miss any of our episodes. We hope that you enjoy the show!
Mar 12, 2021
Moose Attack - The Moose, a Dog, Some Gloves, and a Bra
01:02:15
This time, Wes takes us up to Alaska to tell of a malcontent moose messing up a morning mosey. All we can say is, thank goodness for bras. Thanks again for listening! Please, rate this podcast on Apple podcasts, and subscribe so you dont miss any of our episodes. We hope that you enjoy the show.
Feb 26, 2021
Killer Whale Attack - Tilikum's Terrifying Tour
01:09:38

Wes gives us all a glimpse into the horrors of killer whale captivity, sharing the story of one particularly mistreated orca and the unfortunate demise of three different people at his hands. Or fins. Teeth, maybe? Jeff's lasting memory of Free Willy is of a cake that no one else can recall, and Mike calls out Tilikum for cheating at tug-of-war. Thanks for listening! We really appreciate everyone who has liked the podcast and subscribed to it, it all helps us out so much! And if you want even more content, subscribe to the patreon, where we release bonus mini-episodes and have some other cool perks like merchandise and stuff. Crow Attack - Crows Never Forget
23:27

Jeff takes over for the first Tooth and Claw mini, which is something we will be doing every other week from now on and releasing exclusively for those who subscribe to our Patreon, which you can find at https://www.patreon.com/toothandclawpodcast. Jeff has some incredibly bizarre, Hitchcock-ian stories to share about some persistent crows and other birds who have taken issue with humankind. Wes forgets what his favorite bird is, which is understandable because he has like 70 favorite birds. Mike gets a trivia question right, despite the odds. We experienced some technical issues while recording, so please forgive us for some random volume swings you may hear. Thanks again for listening, we hope you enjoy the episode!

Feb 09, 2021
Grizzly Bear Attack - A Grizzly Daddy Daughter Date
55:56

Wes takes us up to Glacier National Park to talk about another grizzly bear encounter, this time involving a man and his recently graduated daughter who decided to take a little trip up to Northern Montana together. The bear who attacked them probably didn't realize that this was a celebratory trip, otherwise it may have let their trespass into its territory slide. Jeff decides that hearing about a horrific grizzly bear attack only makes him want to go hike on that same trail our subjects were attacked on, and Mike still isn't convinced that Grizzly Bears just don't like eating bowling balls.

Thanks again for listening! We hope you enjoy the episode.

Jan 26, 2021
Python Attack - A Tale of Two Pythons
46:09

Wes has some uncomfortable stories to share this time, especially for the male listeners. And the empathetic female listeners. Some of you weirdos might like this one a lot though. Jeff and Mike take things too far, too quickly.

Thanks for listening! Hope you all enjoy the episode.

Jan 25, 2021
Justin Bieber Saves a Man's Life - 2020 Wrap-Up
43:15
Welcome to our year-end special! Wes has a couple of animal attack stories that involve two of the greatest musical acts ever to come out of North America (can't fight the facts), and also brings to discussion the popular "Which animal would you pick to defend you?" meme that's been making the rounds online for a while now. Jeff reaches back into his bag of arguments he decides are best served aired out in a public forum, and Mike assumes a new role as the arbiter of petty arguments. Thanks again for listening! We appreciate you all. Please rate and review our show on Apple podcasts, and if you aren't embarrassed by us, share us around with your friends and family, it really helps us out a lot. We hope you enjoy the episode!
Jan 22, 2021
Wolf Attack - The Wolf and the Hound
47:39
On this episode, Wes takes us all the way up to a remote logging camp in Alaska to share a story about two young boys who tread a little too close to a wolf. Jeff takes the rare opportunity to shout out a serial killer, and Mike still doesn't know if he was right about several things. Thanks for listening! Please share our podcast with your friends and family, it really helps us out a lot. We hope you enjoy the episode!
Dec 18, 2020
Hippopotamus Attack - Angry Angry Hippos
56:03

On  this episode, Wes takes us all the way out to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe for a story about one man's death-defying showdown with an angry hippopotamus. Along with a telling a story, Wes chastises Jeff and Mike just for thinking of the best way to survive a hippo attack, Jeff weaves an ugly tapestry of falsehoods and slander to cast over Mike involving a milkshake and some lasagna, and Mike contends that Paul actually WON the fight with the hippo.

Dec 11, 2020
Polar Bear Attack - A Bad End to Polar Bear Camp
01:06:09
On this episode, Wes finally gets to talk about the polar bear, which alongside literally every other animal is his favorite animal. In this story, a small group of young campers head up to an archipelago off the northern coast of Norway, only to end up on the wrong end of the Arctic predator/prey dynamic. Wes shares a lot of really good knowledge on the matter, and thoroughly convinces Jeff and Mike that much more could have and should have been done to prevent the attack. Jeff also has a hard time with words (we had to edit out some of them, it just got too embarrassing) and Mike is insensitive about global warming. Thanks for listening to the show! Please rate the podcast and subscribe to it, it really helps us out a lot! We hope you enjoy the episode.
Nov 27, 2020
Chimpanzee Attack - Moe the Chimp Has a Really Weird Birthday
55:04

On this episode, Wes navigates the twists and turns of a story about a chimpanzee attack that should probably be made into a movie. Saint James rescues a baby chimp whose mother died at the hands of poachers, and he takes the little guy back to California to raise as his own. But this seemingly sweet, direct-to-TV Lifetime flick quickly devolves into more of a Planet of the Apes kind of situation, and (spoiler alert) the chimps win this round in a total blowout. Jeff strongly expresses his love for chimps who wear clothes, and Mike needs to make friends. Thanks for listening, everyone! Follow us at toothandclawpodcast on Instagram, and help us out by rating this podcast and subscribing to it, it helps us out a lot. Hope you enjoy the story.

Nov 21, 2020
Mountain Lion Attack - Shannon Parker and the Desperate Cougar
50:35

Wes, Jeff, and Mike sit down to cover another real life wild animal attack, this one involving a young woman on a nice, innocent little hike and a mountain lion who has other, hungrier ideas. Wes, unexpectedly, digs into the relationship drama aspect of this story, while Jeff outs himself as a prolific mountain lion spotter. Mike wonders whether an emergency air-lift helicopter ride is a fair trade-off for not buying an expensive can of bear spray. Thanks for listening! Help us out by rating the podcast and subscribing to it, it really does helps us out. We hope you enjoy the episode.

Nov 15, 2020
Great White Shark Attack - The 19-foot Shark and Rob Rebstock
57:13

Wildlife wunderkind Wes Larson is once again joined by Mike and Jeff as he recounts the horrifying story of Rob Rebstock's run-in with a 19-foot great white shark back in 1975. Turns out it was a big year for great whites, and not just because of Jaws. Wes does it once again and shares not just one but TWO bonus shark attack stories, which got everyone excited. Jeff waxes long-form poetic about all his favorite sharks until time loses all meaning, and Mike shares two different experiences involving his dad that have probably caused lasting damage, which Wes and Jeff don't allow to go on for too long despite the healing and therapeutic effect it may have had. As always, thank you so much for listening! If you have a moment to spare, please rate our podcast and subscribe to it, it really helps us out a lot. We hope you enjoy the episode.

Nov 07, 2020
Alligator Attack - Alligator After Dark
45:47

This week, Wes, Jeff, and Mike recount and discuss the tale of an alligator attack that took place down in a Texas Bayou back in 2015. The story involves Tommie Woodward, a young man beloved in his community, and an 11 foot alligator that took exception to Tommie's late night swim in Bukart's Marina. Wes, as always, shares his knowledge on how best to deal with or hopefully avoid altogether an alligator attack. Jeff, on the other hand, has more unconventional ideas on how to fight back. Mike needs counseling. Thanks so much for listening! Help us out by leaving a positive review and subscribing to the show so you never miss an episode.

Oct 21, 2020
Black Bear Attacks - Allena Hansen and Old-Timey Yellowstone Lady
40:14

This week, Wes has two stories to share, each uncovering the dangers black bears pose to the unprepared. Thankfully he and Jeff have extensive experience dealing with them, and are able to share their knowledge on how to avoid an attack, or if you do end up having an encounter with one, how to fight back. Mike's ideas are a little more unorthodox and are thus discounted out of hand.   If you have a second or two to spare, please rate this episode and subscribe to the  podcast. It really helps smaller and newer shows like ours a lot. Thanks for listening!

Oct 07, 2020
Amur Tiger Attack - SF Zoo Chaos
45:09

On Christmas day in 2007, the Amur Tiger Tatiana leapt from her enclosure at the San Francisco Zoo and attacked 3 young friends. Wes talks Jeff and Mike through the chaos, which ended very poorly for almost everyone involved. We then discuss whether Thomas Hobbes qualifies as a tiger, Wes admits he is "not a big Winnie the Pooh guy," and if an Amur tiger would win in a fight against the focus of our previous episode, the grizzly bear.  Please, if you have a moment, rate this episode and subscribe to the podcast. It really does help us smaller and newer shows. Thank you for listening!
