Outstanding podcast from an archaeologist explaining prehistory to lay people in a clear, accessible way. Would give six stars if I could, wish there were more, or more of this quality.

Thank to Jane for a great series. It's endlessly fascinating and the presenter takes me right there. I have stone tools and shards all around me in various states of development as the ages roll past. The discipline is laid bare as ranks of practioners battle each other across the trenches. Will the truth ever be revealed - the presenter thinks so. Maybe. For a while at least. Jokes aside this is one of my all time faves - on repeat atm - waiting for more.

This could have been a dry, difficult topic for a podcast, but Jane makes it easy to follow, interesting, and even adds a little humor. My knowledge of pre-historic peoples has increased 100-fold!

Description

The Near East - the region known politically as the Middle East - is the home of both a long and eventful history as well as a much longer and fascinating prehistory. Here on Pre History I will cover the story of the Near East as we know it from the archaeological study of what people left behind as hunter-gatherers turned into farmers, as villages turned into cities, and as empires rose and fell.
