When we talk about slowing down the mind, one of the best ways to do that is to simply focus it.  You see, we can only think about one thing at a time, so when we choose to focus our mind, it stops bouncing around for a moment.  And when that thing we focus on is a sensation… and we begin to feel instead of think… our mental chatter can be bypassed altogether, at least for a moment, and it only takes a moment to slip into sleep. Tonight we are going to do a very thorough body scan where you'll be guided to feel all the sensations in your body, really slowing down the mental chatter and tuning in with sensation.  It won’t take long before you’re deeply, deeply relaxed.

But, your protective mind can totally make this adjustment and include more and deeper sleep in your life.
