It’s your turn to sound off in the reviews. Head over to Apple Podcasts and tell them what you think of the show and remember to shout out your ride. Kelly recommends tuning into the top ten cringiest Camp Rock moments. The gals discuss the difference between achievement entrepreneurs and lifestyle entrepreneurs, how it might be easier to make money than it is to save it, and Lizz recaps her baby class with Mattie.  Memorial day sales were giving Black Friday, and Kelly and Lizz’s last three transactions are here to prove it. DELIA'S VS. HOT TOPIC VS. VICTORIA'S SECRET
2729
Bored? Mom doesn’t care. In fact, Kelly and Lizz are huge fans of driving in silence and suggest you do the same—after catching up on the Carpool podcast of course.  In honor of how dating can be so gross, today’s millennial word of the day is ‘beige flag.’ This is when someone hasn’t put much effort into their dating profile.  → ATTENTION Nissan Sedan drivers! It's your week to head over to the Carpool podcast and drop Kelly and Lizz a five star review. Let them know what you’re driving so they know you came from this episode! The Athleta romper is the find of the century, but Tyler — the man who cuts his cowboy boots — has opinions about it.  Lizz brings us a mom-car update and Kelly remembers the anxiety of new mom driving on today’s driveway dumps. Kelly also puts in her vote for a two-horn car feature so we can all be a little friendlier on the road and Lizz plugs a little reminder that June 22nd will be her last episode pre-baby! If you ever thought you might get discovered as a model at the mall, today’s great eight is for you. Two mall girlies remember their days of little pink bags and feeling ‘unhinged’ in Hot Topic and are picking their favorite store from the early 00s from an iconic lineup of Delias, Hot Topic, Abercrombie, Hollister, Claire’s, Charlotte Russe, Papaya, and Victoria’s Secret.  Kelly’s spilling the tea on the Cadillac Escalade IQ — the EV version of their deluxe SUV— on today’s industry news. The IAHS reports on a possible solution to impaired driving. What kind of regulatory requirements will it take to get drunk drivers off the road?  On today’s ditch the drive-through, Lauren is bringing her deconstructed chicken parm to the pod to get you out of your dinner rut. Kelly shares another listener’s meatball-on-Hawiian rolls for lunchtime. And Naptime Kitchen sheet pan pancakes get a big breakfast shout-out. → To share your ditch the drive-through recipe with us, call (959) CAR-POOL and leave us a message! → Write to us for advice on all things motherhood, life, and more! Kelly and Lizz have strong opinions to share, hot tea to spill, and no time to waste on a millennial pause on this absolutely jam-packed episode.  → Hey! If you drive a Honda CRV, it’s your turn to drop into the reviews and shout out your ride while you’re there! Kelly and Lizz are anti-fluff, yet always giving fluff. Maybe that’s why today’s millennial word of the day really got under their skin. Listen in to hear all about the millennial pause, the Gen Z shake, and the content tip Kelly loves from Brock Johnson to go highly edited or totally raw and authentic on video. On today’s driveway dump, Kelly’s been sleeping on Spindrift — the sparkling drink with a touch of juice. She asks AI to write a bio for her and finds out it’s just an Ask Jeeves renaissance gone wrong. Lizz gives a harrowing review of the Guardians of the Galaxy 3 movie, aka it should have never been made. Featured in today’s taste drive are the Target brand birthday cake and chocolate mint balls. You can thank Kelly and Lizz for saving you from eating playdough on this one. ‘Jen’ writes in for advice on how to respond to being called ‘young lady’ in a male-dominated industry. Should she say something or let it go? The gals share their thoughts, and Kelly gives Jen quite the clap back to try.  → Write to us for advice on all things motherhood, life, and more! Send us an email to get your question featured on the show at hello@thecarmomofficial.com  Hot tea in the auto industry today includes news of an all-electric school bus being developed. The richest man in Vietnam is going all in on VinFast with a risky 8.2 billion wager. And why the used car market is so bad…and not getting better anytime soon.  Lizz’s ditch the drive-through is her one-pot chicken fajitas. A simple, delicious, and healthy meal you only have to dirty one cutting board and one pan for. To wrap up the episode, Lizz shares her next baby name clue: baby’s name has a ton of nicknames (that she’d rather not use).  → To share your ditch the drive-through recipe with us, call (959) CAR-POOL and leave us a message! MOTHERS DAY VIBES WITH OUR MOM
2464
Kelly and Lizz are bringing you the scoop on how to have a great Mother’s Day in this episode co-starring their mom, Kris.  → Sound off in the reviews Chevy Traverse moms, Kris has called you out! Today’s millennial word of the day is “bang thirties” a clap back meaning to fight someone. Chris shares her favorite Gen Z slang “fosh” and shares who was harder to mother — Gen Z or her millennial kids.  Until Kelly can organize her texts and respond to them like emails, talking trumps texting. Consider this her PSA coming from the driveway dump that friends should stop texting and start calling #textingcultureistoxic. Kris shares how she learned frugal shopping, how to make holidays special from her mom, and reminds us of the ever-present love of moms who are no longer with us.  Which Mother’s Day gift hits the hardest? Kelly, Lizz and Kris are ready to decide on today’s great eight of Mother’s Day gifts that includes: car detailing, handmade crafts, breakfast in bed, flowers, taking mom out to dinner, a spa day, jewelry, and mom time off.  More goodies from Chris on this episode include: Which kid calls mom the most? What’s dad’s responsibility on Mother’s Day, and a story of her favorite Mother’s Day ever. Kelly’s got hot tea on industry news this week. She wonders if insurance companies will keep covering Rivians after an Rivian R1T fender bender turns into a $40K repair bill and updates us on the Ford and GM drama over Apple CarPlay and in-car infotainment systems. For Mother’s Day, ditch the drive-through, the restaurants, and the recipe cards with Kris’ favorite Sunday meal recipe: marinated flank steak with cheesy twice baked potatoes inside a bell pepper. This meal can be prepped ahead so you can stay a part of the party instead of getting stuck in the kitchen. → To share your ditch the drive-through recipe with us, call (959) CAR-POOL and leave us a message! → Write to us for advice on all things motherhood, life, and more! OUR SECRET YOUTUBE VIDEOS
2443
There’s value to humbling yourself and remembering 8th grade you — would you agree? Kelly and Lizz throwback to their home-grown, DIY YouTube videos and recordings they gifted to their parents after today’s millennial word of the day segment — featuring the most popular Gen Z slang terms by state — makes them feel so stinkin’ old.  Calling all Kia Carnival drivers — it’s your turn to head over to the review section and help The Carpool Podcast become #1 in automotive podcasts! Kelly’s so picky about her (and her kids) pajamas, so she gives us the inside scoop on what she likes best while also covering the recent controversy about the affordability of great pajamas on Facebook. Lizz shares her newest IG obsession — @themacrobarista — who is delivering delicious lower-calorie Starbucks drink orders you’ll definitely want to check out. And — Kelly has a minivan crush, will she take the leap? On today’s taste drive, the gals try an organic Reese’s from Fresh Thyme. Is it just bougie or better tasting? Lizz is loving the hot goss on the advice segment today about another in-law family situation. A listener’s brother-in-law has been dating a girl for about two years now and they recently announced they’re expecting a baby. She has asked the listener if her kids will call her auntie. Another listener asks if it is possible to avoid car seat dents in leather seats. Kelly has thoughts about carseat safety and mats that go under your seats. → Write to us for advice on all things motherhood, life, and more! Send us an email to get your question featured on the show at hello@thecarmomofficial.com  Tater tot casserole gets the respect it deserves on today’s ditch the drive-through. With ground beef, cream of mushroom soup, and cheddar cheese this one sounds like a winner. WE ATE THE GREAT EIGHT
2877
We all ate green ketchup and survived! But that’s not the kind of ‘ate’ that Gen Zers are talking about. Today’s Millennial word of the day ‘ate’ refers to a performance or outfit that was done extremely well.   Lizz takes the fastest showers in the world, inhales her food, and jumps out of the car when she gets home while Kelly is stopping to smell the roses — both on her walks and in that blissful moment in the driveway when you put your car in park but haven’t gotten out yet. Enter…the perfect time for her driveway dumping.  Kelly and Lizz are on a health journey, working out, reading labels, and buying the dirty dozen organic. They agree that 1% better is the goal. PB&Js still smack, Wendy’s on Facebook is unhinged, and Lizz reveals her biggest tech pet peeve. The gals also debate: Are way-too-high ceilings the reason Bed, Bath, and Beyond is going under? The great eight of ditch the drive-throughs features chicken stroganoff, salmon teriyaki bowl, lunch meat crescent roll-ups, buffalo chicken sweet potatoes, hamburger sliders, chicken salad, the Mississippi roast, and BBQ pulled pork nachos. No matter which iconic meal wears the great eight crown — listen in and you’ll be set for meals for a week or more. → To share your ditch the drive-through recipe with us, call (959) CAR-POOL and leave us a message! In industry news Hyundai finally accelerates a new tech update rollout to solve the viral stolen car issue, the company also says they want 30% of their future profits to come from car subscriptions, and Kelly delivers an updated list of EVs that qualify for the $7500 tax credit.  ATTENTION: Tesla Model Y and X drivers → it’s your turn to leave The Carpool Podcast a five star review! RESPECT THE KID OF THE DAY
2350
Lizz needs to spice up her life while trolls are trying to dull Kelly’s sparkle. Tune in to hear all of your Carpool favorites today including a juicy listener question on the advice segment. NPC is today’s millennial word of the day. This sassy abbreviation means ‘non-player character’ as in the opposite of main character energy, someone who adds nothing to the story.  Kelly’s driveway dump kicks off with a powerful parenting strategy: The Kid of the Day! Kelly and Lizz reminisce about how this changed their childhood for the better and how they’ll implement it in their own families. Kelly is ready to bring back the tomato tomat-oh sentiment after receiving hate comments for her word pronunciations. Two inch hail did some serious damage to Kelly’s neighborhood. And she will be returning the heinous low rise jeans she ordered from Express — to replace them with a pair of Good American ‘Always Fits.’  Would you say anything? A listener writes in asking about her brother in law who is always critiquing his girlfriend’s food choices and image — often loudly in front of family. He’s been with this girl for four years and she’s still waiting for a ring. Should she say anything to the girlfriend about her unhealthy relationship dynamics? Another question in the advice que today deals with the ‘after’ of the resqme® safety tool. Where can you get a seat belt replaced after using the tool? Kelly and Lizz have answers. → Write to us for advice on all things motherhood, life, and more! Send us an email to get your question featured on the show at hello@thecarmomofficial.com  In industry news, the Lexus LM luxury minivan will not be debuting in the US but you can still get your fix of minivan excitement by staying tuned for The Minivan Showdown from The Car Mom. Kelly shares a snippet of her Honda Odyssey review from her upcoming, and absolutely epic guide.  Cucumber nachos with chicken salad and tajín are on the ditch the drive-through menu this week. Kelly also throws in her broccoli chicken casserole for good measure and the gals talk recipe organization and making meal planning simple. → To share your ditch the drive-through recipe with us, call (959) CAR-POOL and leave us a message!  ATTENTION SUBARU ASCENT DRIVERS…it’s your day to leave a five-star review of the podcast ;) Kelly and Lizz would so appreciate it.  Today’s episode is brought to you by Zocdoc. GOING FROM MISS TO MA'AM
3485
Forget the kitchen. Start your weekend with a carwash! Buy that subscription. And ask for a pro detail service for Mother’s Day. Per Kelly and Lizz — yet again —clean cars drive better. Period. The first week of May brings another big boost to your clean car life with the anticipated re-release of the new Car Mom Car Cleaner. Scents will include the back-by-popular-demand Lavender and Sweet Orange, Grapefruit and Rosemary, and a secret third that’s Lizz’s favorite of the bunch.  Today’s millennial word of the day, Zillennial, indicates the group born from 1988 to 1992 who can relate to both the Gen Zers and Millennials.  Kelly kicks off the last three transactions segment with her Pure car air freshener purchase. Lizz has been doing her maternity and postpartum summer shopping on Amazon and at Target. She’s also getting ready for her baby’s arrival with the “Taking Care of Babies” course. Kelly is making a big transition, too, and purchased Frozen pull-ups to start potty training with Hattie.  Kelly and Lizz’s dumps and feral freeways are a mishmash of Marvel coleslaw, marriage thoughts, and what it feels like to become ma’am while you’re pregnant. The gals also chat about influencer crowd-sourcing privilege and a live broadcast that totally flopped for Netflix.  Are Zoom and TikTok in cars safe? Kelly and Lizz share their thoughts in industry news and hype the arrival of the off-roading edition of the Atlas, the Atlas Peak, for its rugged features and avocado green color. Listeners are looking for advice on how to jazz up veggies beyond the broccoli, how to grow a home decor box subscription through influencers, and when an expectant mom should start shopping for a new midsize SUV. → Write to us for advice on all things motherhood, life, and more! IS LEMON8 THE NEW INSTAGRAM?
2768
It’s a second Easter and bar-dog-park weekend ahead for Kelly and Lizz. Kelly can barely contain her excitement for the most quakeworthy industry news she’s had to share in a while, though — so let’s dive right in. Today’s millennial word of the day is ‘based.’ Based is a response that shows agreement…and the gals aren’t so sure how they feel about this one. Kelly discovered the Walgreens photo app and shares all about it in her driveway dump. Her newest show obsession is The Chosen, Lemon8 is coming out of the woodworks to become the real new social media trend, and Kelly is posting tours on YouTube again. It’s been a few episodes since Naptime Kitchen made an appearance and Kelly is all about her philosophy to not rush activities with your kids — because what’s the point anyway? Reel talk with Lizz today brings you an interesting experiment done on the effects of hormonal birth control on pheromone detection.  Continuing on the Tajín trend, today’s taste drive is watermelon, mango, and pineapple all sprinkled with Tajín. Which fruits are a match made in heaven and which ones are better off Tajíin-less…listen in to find out Kelly and Lizz’s vote.  Madison, a full time working and studying mom to a two year old, writes in to ask about handling mom guilt on today’s advice segment. Kelly gives this incredible mama some credit and grace and Lizz drops a deep line of wisdom for this mama, “Life is short and life moves fast. But life is also the longest thing you'll ever do.” In industry news, Domino’s Pizza has teamed up with Apple CarPlay to ditch the drive-through line — very Carpool appropriate. The CX 90 badging comes out light and Mazda says it meant to exercise restraint, but Kelly and Lizz doubt that this was really necessary. The Highlander goes head to head with the Grand Highlander and Kelly reports differences in their size, pricing, and more. To round out industry news, Lizz guesses which automobiles made it to the top of the 25 best selling cars, trucks, and SUVs so far this year list. Ditch the drive-through this week with Jean Marie’s chickpea salad on the side of your baked burger sliders from listener Kimberly.  Today’s episode is brought to you by Athletic Greens. Nothing makes the gals feel like they’re in their Healthy Girl Era quite like taking Athletic Greens in the morning. MOTHER OF CAR REVIEWS
2354
Candy controversy kicks off The Carpool Podcast with Reese Eggs vs Cadbury Cream Eggs, candies that are begging to be retired, and the Peeps red dye 3 controversy. The suitcase zipped, but barely, on this *packed* episode.  Mother is today’s millennial word of the day. Used as an adjective by Gen Z, Kelly will just have to live with it and love it.  Which ugly auto will win today’s hate eight of ugliest cars? Up for the title are the Ford Flex, Nissan Murano convertible, Nissan Cube, classic Toyota Prius, Chrysler PT Cruiser, Honda Odyssey, Kia Soul, and Tesla cyber truck. The Ford Flex is giving fridge, at least the Honda Odyssey is functional, and the Nissan Cube holds a special place in Lizz’s heart.  Stanley ice flows are (or were!) back in stock, so they’re on both Kelly and Lizz’s last three transactions today. Use the code CARMOM20 to grab yours if they’re still available. The PT Cruiser of shoes threatened to set Kelly back $80 for spring daycare shoes, but she found knock off Crocs at TJ Maxx instead. Lizz grabbed some jammies for the babe and both gals had a grocery run — Kelly’s for her pot-luck famous Costco mac-n-cheese.  On today’s advice segment, Dana asks for go-to dinner ideas for guests. Kelly recommends BBQ pulled pork nachos with Sweet Baby Rays, a hot dog bar, or grilled naan bread pizzas. Lizz suggests crockpot chicken tacos. Listener Elizabeth asks how Kelly knew she wanted a third kiddo.  A listener’s Honda Odyssey question spills over into industry news. Making headlines this week, Tesla workers shared very personal customer videos taken by Century mode without consent. Kia EV 9 is one of the hottest EVs of the year and one of the first mainstream three row electric SUVs. And Kelly and Lizz talk auto shows and their yearning to travel again. → To share your ditch the drive-through recipe with us, call (959) CAR-POOL and leave us a message! → Want our advice on literally anything? OUR TAYLOR SWIFT NAIVETY
2481
Is it too late for Kelly and Lizz to become Swifties? Can car payments get any higher? Is everything a dupe? The gals answer all of this and more on today’s episode of The Carpool Podcast. Today’s millennial word of the day is ‘dupe.’ As in, Kelly is back from a brutal stomach bug — vacation dupe!  Palm payments through Amazon and at Panera kick off Kelly's driveway dump with a rant. Kelly asks moms to consider not forcing play date visitors to clean up at your house — give the other mama a break instead. Lizz gets called out on her voicemail message that needs an update, stat, and she admits the most feral thing she’s doing this pregnancy. An update on Kelly’s Thrive Market experience reveals she is in love with some of their brands. To wrap up the driveway dump, Kelly and Lizz cheer on the TikTok ban and feel left out of the Taylor Swift Eras tour trends. In industry news, GM is phasing out CarPlay in EVs with Google’s help, Ford collabs with Syndey Sweeney to empower Gen Z with basic car maintenance lessons, and depressing stats about finance payments are brought to you by Car and Driver. Liz from @thefeedingacademy brings us today’s ditch the drive-through: Trader Joe’s chicken meatballs with tikka masala simmer sauce over rice with a side of green beans. WELCOME HOME, MATTY!
2572
Mattie St. John is BACK from overseas and stars as the Carpool special guest today with host, Lizz St. John. The duo is giving Kelly a break with a sweet Q&A and crunch-tastic taste drive.  The millennial word of the day is ‘spilling the tea’ aka Mattie’s favorite. Is there anything better than hot goss to dish? No, it’s definitely the highlight of any day, week, or month according to Mattie.  Maddie Q&A from the Carpool listeners on Instagram ask: What’s Mattie’s given name and who calls him what? How was it seeing Lizz with a bump for the first time? What is Mattie’s military lineage? What Mattie is looking forward to about being a dad? What Mattie is relying on Lizz for when it comes to parenting? How and when did he know Lizz was the one? And did this deployment feel different? Lizz’s Feral Freeway brings you a fierce internet debate that Lizz and Mattie both agree on. The question is: are top sheets the greatest millennial take-down or a necessity? Listen in to find out. Lizz has pregnancy giggle stories, Mattie has a tech tip, and both have an Instagram comedy couple recommendation: @alexandramadisonn and @jon.bouff. The Fruit Roll-Up ice cream challenge is today’s taste drive. Lizz and Mattie try vanilla ice cream in a Fruit Roll-Up and mango ice cream with Tajín rolled up as well. Would they do it again?  Listener Ashley brings us today’s ditch the drive-through, BBQ chicken baked potato. And Mattie comes in with a baby name clue for a strong wrap to the episode.  → To share your ditch the drive-through recipe with us, call (959) CAR-POOL and leave us a message! FRUIT FIGHT WITH KELSEY FROM LITTLE BITS OF REAL FOOD
3411
Welcome to the Carpool podcast Kelsey Preciado @littlebitsof_realfood! Kelly is sleep deprived and delirious, but that won’t stop this jam packed show. Listen in for a heated great eight, drool-worthy ditch the drive-through, and the best advice Kelly and Lizz have ever given. Today’s guest, Kelsey @littlebitsof_realfood, started her food blog in 2012, evolved into Whole 30 recipes at the height of pinterest popularity, and has now mastered the art of being fantastically ordinary and relatable. She shares the one food she’ll never master in the kitchen, what she drives and what she loves about it, and what her family begs her to cook again and again.  Kelly, Lizz, and Kelsey debate the great eight of fruits. Between peaches, watermelons, bananas, strawberries, pineapples, clementines, apples, and grapes — which one will wear the hard-earned crown?  Dino nuggies and salad are, admittedly, Kelsey’s go-to ditch the drive-through. But, if she has a little energy left at the end of the day, she’ll definitely be making her One Pot Chicken Bacon Ranch Rice. To share your ditch the drive-through recipe with us, call (959) CAR-POOL and leave us a message! A SAHM listener writes in for advice about conversation at a dinner party. Is it rude for someone to ask you not to talk about your kids? And what should you say instead? TRYING TO DO THE MOST WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY DOING THE LEAST
2940
Kelly and Lizz are dishing advice on some spicy drama in this jam packed episode! Kelly is devoting her focus to evening routine prep and a much more pregnant Lizz is getting ready to welcome Mattie back home soon.  Today’s millennial word of the day is a quick fire quiz of popular Gen Z abbreviations: tbh, smh, pov, fr, rt, rn, tfw, and imo.  Kelly has a throwback-filled driveway dump since no one voted it off segment island (just kidding none of the Carpool segments are going anywhere). First, Kelly and Lizz share highlights of their childhood Easter. Then, the gals reminisce about mall stores and brands they used to love and where they are now. Reel talk with Lizz brings healthy home inspiration with a DIY all-purpose cleaner recipe and a few low-lift wellness tips. The gals agree that ice water facials are going to be the way to go — because you won’t catch either of them plunging in for a cold swim. Every day is a gift worth more than $10M and Lizz has a bit of a ‘would you rather’ to prove it. Lizz is getting ready for a John Mayer concert with tan converse to kick off the last three transactions segment. She also bought Jordan Harper’s Barefaced tinted and sheer sunscreen and a bird feeder. Kelly re-upped her Apple TV subscription, ordered play makeup for Hattie, and took a risk on a denim jumpsuit. Are Kelly and Lizz even qualified to respond on today’s listener advice segment? Someone’s very best friend of 20 years is cheating on her husband. What should she do with her friend’s secret? Can they remain friends? The gals weigh in. Another listener asks if her Volkswagen Jetta sedan can be good mom car with kids as she starts to grow her family.  Want our advice on literally anything? Shoot us an email for a chance to get your questions featured on the show at hello@thecarmomofficial.com The Mississippi government has recently put restrictions on selling EVs, which is great industry news. Of course Kelly and Lizz are on team local, family-owned dealerships and are glad to see them protected and appreciated with these new restrictions. Mercedes-Benz biometric payments are on their way — is this a good thing or another scary subscription slippery slope? And the Dodge Durango 710 Hellcat is coming back. Prior owners of the vehicle aren’t pleased. Listen in to find out why.  Ditch the drive-through today with The College Nutritionist’s cajun mac and cheese. YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU ASSUME ...
3174
Fred is at daycare, Kelly is way too focused, and Lizz is having her most pregnant experience ever — insomnia and middle of the night cereal with a side of Netflix’s “How to Get Away with Murder.”  Today’s millennial word of the day is making its debut in the 3D world thanks to Gen Z: the side-eye. Once just an emoji, side-eye is now a phrase you can use whenever you’re judging or questioning the content of what someone is saying.  Kelly’s driveway dump is jam packed. A new celebrity pregnancy announcement from Lindsay Lohan is as normal as can be and Lizz and Kelly are here for her mommy-blogger comeback. Instagram releases the new verified badge subscription and Lizz will be giving it a try. Kelly warns everyone to take out their claw clips while driving — and slaps a trigger warning on this story. Over the weekend Kelly and the kids will be headed to the hotel Tyler’s parents are staying at for indoor pool access — what a great staycation idea. And last but certainly not least, Kelly is obsessed with Spanx clothes and how they’re changing her postpartum body experience.  After giving her address to the Wonderful company for some spiced pistachios — which are today’s taste drive, Kelly seems to be on a weird PR list that’s sending her cases of juice and clementines. The Wonderful de-shelled pistachio flavors the gals tried out today are: roasted, salted sea salt vinegar, honey roasted, chili roasted, and smokey barbecue. Lizz polled Carpool listeners for assumptions they have about Kelly and Lizz and is ready to confirm or deny the most common ones. Topping the list is that Kelly and Lizz were popular girls in high school. The gals also address: whether they’re super close and have always been friends or are always competing, that they never cuss, that they grew up privileged but were raised to be down to earth, and if Lizz gets upset at Kelly more often Kelly gets upset with Lizz. In industry news, Kia released the new EV9 with 2200 miles of range, six or seven passenger capacity with swivel seats, and a price tag in the range of 56K-73K. Will the EV9 satisfy the growing demand for electric cars that don’t look silly? Kelly also shares her take on the new IIHS side crash testing of 13 mid-size SUVs. How much sway will these unimpressive results have in her car buying recommendations? Listen in to find out! To wrap up the episode today, listener Jackie writes in with her ditch the drive-through ideas. Kelly and Lizz are both obsessed with her take on burgers as bowls. $1.25 FOR A SLICE OF CHEESE?
2350
Kelly and Lizz are back with riveting stories from their wildly interesting lives including a towel closet cleaning hack from Kelly and a nursery set up update from Lizz.  CEO is today’s millennial word of the day. Gen Zers might say Kelly and Lizz are the CEOs of automotive podcasts.  Kelly’s driveway dump is full of influencers and inspiration. She recently purchased a new cookbook by listener Little Bits of Real Food called Unbelieve-a-Bowl and she’s never wanted to cook so many recipes from one book. Toasted Table is bringing simple and delicious food inspo to Kelly’s kitchen, too, with her daily toast posts. Kelly has also found a couple of solid reasons to shop for her spring wardrobe: Kathleen Post’s iconic capsule wardrobe share and Merrick White’s four-ways-to-wear content.  Lizz’s purchase of two Pink Blush maternity dresses for her baby shower kick of the last three transactions segment. Kelly is sprucing up her home, even if they might move, with a new entryway light fixture, is all about the Abercrombie dad shorts, and has mixed reviews on Thrive Market. Lizz is ordering another puppy bumper and raising awareness about this brilliant product for little dogs. Today’s taste drive is the Jimmy John’s Capresé Salami Pesto 16 inch sandwich. Between the balsamic vinaigrette and pesto this sandwich doesn’t even need the (FANTASTIC) Kickin’ Ranch to be crave-worthy.  In industry news, General Motors will stop forcing $1500 OnStar subscriptions on their Buick, GM, and GMC buyers. Kelly says way to go — there’s no benefit other than more money for the manufacturers in these subscriptions. Kelly and Lizz are both excited to hear about VW’s Scout brand building EV pickups and SUVs in the US with production starting in 2026. Listener Megan brings us a ditch the drive-through that is perfect for when you’re craving something light and fresh — like Chipotle. Perfect for spring, this Greek chicken bowl is sure to please with jasmine rice, tzatziki dip, chicken, cucumber, roma tomatoes, and fresh slices of lemon for a tangy squeeze. → To share your ditch the drive-through recipe with us, call (959) CAR-POOL and leave us a message! A GREEN BEAN IS A GREEN BEAN AT THE END OF THE DAY
2855
Will Kelly and Lizz get slap happy or go south in this jam packed witching hour episode? To kick the show off, Kelly’s getting comfortable with mom guilt as George starts daycare and Lizz is admiring her third-time-mom vibe as she awaits baby St. John. Today’s millennial word of the day is an answer to a question from the last episode: What are teens doing now — because they’re not at the mall?! Cara, a listener with a 16 and 18 year old, writes in about her teen’s hang-out habits at Target, Chick-fil-a, and Crumbl cookies. Reel talk with Lizz includes a question about new and expectant mothers parking spots and great anticipation of the Sunny D seltzer, which Kelly is disgusted by.  On Kelly’s driveway dump, there’s new hair in the house as well as a cooler full of new pet minnows. Both gals share how they’re working more veggies into their diet even when they don’t feel like it. The perfect segue to today’s great eight of vegetables.  Vying for the vegetable crown today are broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, bell peppers, cucumber, asparagus, green beans, and brussel sprouts. Are Kelly and Lizz crazy? Is the winner really a fruit? Let Kelly and Lizz know on Instagram! Paige writes in for advice on thank you notes. Are they out of date and ready to be retired? Kelly and Lizz have very different opinions on the matter. Another listener writes in for a friend who has a four year old and identical twins on the way. AUNTIE ANNE'S HIT DIFFERENT
3166
Kelly has a confession about her bad habit of reading influencer reddit threads full of mom snark, Fred has opinions, and Lizz shares about her latest drama indulgences on her finally named ‘Real Talk With Lizz” segment today.  Kelly comes through with a millennial word of the day — hits different — and teaches Lizz the idiom “comparing apples to oranges.” Two former mall kids put their food court favorites to the test on today’s great eight. The restaurants going head to head for the win today are, Panda Express, Sbarro, Cinnabon, Auntie Anne’s, Charlie’s, Subway, California Pizza Kitchen, and Cheesecake Factory. Real talk with Lizz (formerly feral freeway with Lizz) includes a bit of celebrity gossip regarding Selena and Hailey Beiber as well as a chat about the reality shows Vanderpump Rules and Married at First Sight. The gal’s advice ain’t that great today, but Kelly and Lizz sure tried. One listener writes in about her negative and critical older sister while another is having a surprise baby number three and needs to know if she can fit three across in her sedan and SUV.  In industry news, Kelly has a report about GM's Ultra cruise hands free driving system and the gals are on the hunt for a newly released 2024 Chevrolet Traverse (in spy camo) in the wild. Kelly shares a fun fact about the blind inventor of cruise control who first innovated the technology in 1945. MOCKTAIL TIPSY
3481
Can you feel the sisterly love? Kelly and Lizz are fired up on this episode of the Carpool podcast and have some opinions to share that are strong, or should we say valid — which is today’s millennial word of the day.  This might be the best day of Lizz’s life, thanks to today’s taste drive of Liquid IV mocktails. Kelly and Lizz try the unbelievable cucumber mojito and the delicious Smoky Mezcal Paloma. These hydrating mocktails get a 12 out of 10 from the gals. Kelly’s cleaned out her closet with a friend, is getting ready to reset her house for spring, and shares all about ways to make your room feel different while doing the least on today’s driveway dump. The Skinny Confidential podcast has also got Kelly ‘meditating’ and easing her way into cold plunges. Listen in to hear how. Lizz’s feral freeway includes a rant about the disgusting controversy surrounding Missouri and the midwest, ways to use your breastmilk outside of feeding your baby, and sister smells. Carpool listener advice questions are piling up, and Kelly and Lizz are here to help. Is it rude to ask someone to put their dogs away when visiting? Is it okay to decline a wedding invite because of a complicated past? Are car auction cars sketchy? And is CarMax better than Carvana? Lizz is bringing the ditch for ditch the drive-through today, and it comes from a Car Mom all-time favorite Instagrammer Trader Joe’s Five Items or Less. THE DARK SIDE OF MOMMY COMMENTS
3156
Kelly is on the get little program, Lizz is on the get big program, and Fred-uccini Alfredo is recovering from his tongue tie procedure — no fun. Part 2 of Lizz’s millennial word of the day, dating edition is all about toxic relationship behavior. Cookie jarring, love bombing, and orbiting. What are they and how will Kelly fit them all into one sentence? Listen in to find out. On Kelly's driveway dump she shares her favorite hacks: upgrading her Jimmy John's experience with Kickin’ Ranch and using a twenty minute timer to tidy up the house or — better yet — the car. Lizz says she has found the dark side of mommy-comments on social media and the gals rant about car seat safety pseudo-experts.  trü frü is the star of the taste drive today. Kelly and Lizz are ready to save you a few bucks by determining which flavors are worth your $8 and which ones you can skip.  The taste-driven flavors on this episode are: blueberries in white and dark chocolate, bananas in peanut butter and dark chocolate, raspberries in white and dark chocolate, and strawberries in white and milk chocolate. TYLER RIDING SHOTGUN WITH KELLY AND FRED
3651
Warning: Whiplash may occur from this special episode with Kelly, Tyler, and of course bebe Fred so, buckle up! The millennial word of the day comes from Kelly’s sibling Sydney. “Chronically online,” is meant to describe mostly trolls who are always on social media. Kelly and Tyler agree that all trolls may be millennials and that Gen Z will meanwhile be solving world hunger.  Tyler shares his long-awaited driveway dump and discusses The Crown, the Harry and Megan documentary, and his take on Prince Charles’ “adversity.” Then, tells a ten-second dad-version of Fred’s birth story that includes multiple food breaks. Bathroom permissions, sleeping in, clean rooms that stay clean, square feet, errands, flying by the seat of their pants, Friday nights, and TV freedom make Kelly and Tyler’s list for the great eight of things they took for granted before becoming parents. Which privilege will prevail? Tyler answers dad-of-a-newborn questions from the Carpool that include how the duo divides household chores, the best and hardest part of having three kids, and Tyler’s favorite thing about each kid (and Kelly)! Making it to the top of industry news today, entry level Teslas now cost less than the average new car. Are they ruining their luxury brand? Car and Driver reports that Florida dogs may have to keep their cute little heads in their cars, and Tyler’s got no dog in this fight. IIHS is doing the most and giving awards for 28 models top safety pick plus this year — a number that’s up from the top safety awarded models of 2022. Last, but certainly not least, which auto brand boasts 55% female owners? Tyler just learned how to make mac and cheese this week, so our ditch the drive-through comes from a listener instead. SAY PEPSI PEEPS PIT STOP THREE TIMES FAST
2779
Tongue ties, a shocking taste drive, and hot industry gossip are on the Carpool agenda today.  Kicking off this jam-packed episode are three dating terms for today’s millennial word of the day. Cobwebbing (an act of self love), cuffing (most common during the winter months), and cyber flashing (use your imagination).  In Kelly’s driveway dump she shares the five-minute makeup routine she’s finally nailed down. It includes the DIBS contour stick and Beauty Blender foundation. Is Meta’s new paid verification feature going to hurt or help creators? Kelly’s got thoughts on the matter as well as on TikTok’s creativity program that is in Beta. In short, YouTube still wins. To wrap up today’s dump, Kelly finally made the Mississippi roast and needs to apologize for stigmatizing the recipe, because it is the best roast she’s ever had.  A quick Peeps Pepsi pit stop is today’s taste drive and it is giving cream soda. Both gals had their doubts, but this special edition Pepsi truly pulled through. A Carpool listener’s 15-year friendship is the topic of discussion on today’s advice segment. Should she let go of this friendship for good or give it one more shot? Kelly and Lizz share their tips on sharing how you feel with a friend that you’ve been through tough times with. Kelly’s bored on maternity leave, so she’s calling on cookbook roulette to spice up her ditch the drive-through night. She and Lizz are both making recipes from Half-baked Harvest’s cookbook: brioche french toast and baked coconut curry meatballs. You can follow Half-baked Harvest on Instagram here and listen to the Skinny Confidential podcast she was on here.  Industry news reveals it is in fact, not the best time to buy a car — unless you’re paying cash. Luxury brand sales jumped to a record 19.6% of total new car sales, used car inventory is worse in January than in December, and interest rates are spiking monthly payments. → To share your ditch the drive-through recipe with us, call (959) CAR-POOL and leave us a message! → Want our advice on literally anything? HEIGHT IS NOTHING BUT A NUMBER
2796
Wake. Feed. Wrangle toddlers. Curl hair. Watch The Good Wife. Give Fred a life of infant luxury. That’s Kelly’s maternity leave so far. Oh — and let’s not forget nursing while podcasting! If you’re posting attention grabbing yet vague statuses on social media, or annoyed by someone else who does, you might find today’s millennial word of the day — ‘soft launching’ — useful. Lizz is bringing back another feral freeway — her counterpart to Kelly’s driveway dump — where she tells us about the reels she watched this week and viral trends she’s following. Up this week are tart cherry juice for sleep, doubting that makeup influencers are really in such a rush, and the 10 pumps of foundation trend.  Kelly’s sharing her favorite newborn baby products in her driveway dump today. She couldn’t live without The Shusher, her Halo bassinet, Kyte PJs, and muslin washcloths for Fred. Katie Perry is hopping on the mocktail train and Kelly’s ready for a taste drive. A Dyson airwrap recap reveals how Kelly really feels about the (dispensable) hair tool. And Kelly and Lizz answer the question: Is Target overrated lately? Giving equal parts family-essentials and personal splurges, Kelly and Lizz share their last three transactions. Lizz purchased a new pair of the only shoes she wears — Hokas, a washable nursery rug from Rug USA, and maternity biker shorts from Amazon. Kelly went all out with her Tupperware sippy cup buy, matching Hill House dresses for her and Hattie, and a tripod she picked up after being inspired by @cecilybauchmann’s everyday content on Instagram.  When it comes to height and confidence Lizz has always been the six foot girl wearing six inch stilettos while you’ll catch Kelly slouching in the corner. On today’s advice segment, the gals give a mom advice on how to support and celebrate her tall five year old.  Today’s ditch the drive-through comes from Britney — an orange chicken dish that comes together quickly. You’ll need a frozen snap pea stir fry mix from Walmart, chicken, Top Ramen, and Panda Express orange chicken sauce to pull this one off! In short and sweet industry news, Consumer Reports names their Top 10 picks of 2023 Cars and include the Toyota Corolla Hybrid, Subaru Forester, and Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid in their lineup. → To share your ditch the drive-through recipe with us, call (959) CAR-POOL and leave us a message! → Want our advice on literally anything? VALENTINE’S DAY VIBE CHECK
2969
Happy Valentine's Day from Kelly and Lizz! In this random, yet fabulous, episode baby Fred-uccine Al-fred-o makes a cooing appearance, Mattie has headed out for two months with the marine reserves, and Kelly needs to know why her dog is now the size of a cow. The millennial word of the day is ‘vibe check.’ Instead of asking your friends, “Hey, how are you holding up?” You can now just use a quick, “Hey, vibe check?” to see how they’re doing.  Kelly’s driveway dump kicks off with a plug for her favorite Knix period underwear and an update on her haircare journey haul from Sephora. The Car Mom has hit 95K subscribers on YouTube and the gals can’t wait to hit 100K and earn their plaque. Make sure you subscribe to The Car Mom on YouTube! Kelly and Lizz also reflect on red dye, Fun Dip, and their favorite Valentines indulgences.  Lizz adds her thoughts to the driveway dump today with a bit about her thought-provoking-reels addiction, eating out vs. eating in, and the $16 Panera crime. Famous TV couples are featured on today’s Valentine’s edition of the great eight. In the lineup are: Ross and Rachel from Friends, Jim and Pam from The Office, Marshall and Lily from How I Met Your Mother, Jess and Nick from New Girl, Cece and Schmidt from New Girl, Ben and Leslie from Parks and Rec, and Blair and Chuck from Gossip Girl. In industry news, State Farm and Progressive are declining new insurance policies on some Hyundais and Kias after nationwide thefts. Ford slashes the price of their Mustang Mach-E — following suit with Tesla’s recent price drop. And the Grand Highlander has officially been released, so Kelly’s got Car Mom thoughts to share.  Jenna from California brings today’s ditch the drive through and it’s giving ‘Panera give Lizz her $16 back.’ You won’t want to miss these hot sandwiches on ciabatta with pesto and provolone! → To share your ditch the drive-through recipe with us, call (959) CAR-POOL and leave us a message! → Want our advice on literally anything? MATERNITY LEAVE? WHAT'S THAT?
2843
Producer Fredward joins Kelly and Lizz for another maternity-leave episode of the Carpool podcast. The gals are playing with nicknames for the babe and Lizz has exciting gender reveal news to share! Situationship is today’s millennial word of the day. Which is what the Gen Zers are calling their connections when they're sort of talking, sort of dating, sort of a thing, but also…sort of not. Kelly’s boomer idiom for Lizz is “don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater.” Kelly’s driveway dump is packed with goodies from her week alone at home with Fred. First up, Mulan, a movie truly ahead of its time. Next, Liquid IV is cornering the mocktail market on Instagram with their impressive add-ins like egg whites and sugared grapefruit. Give them a follow! Kelly and Lizz both love on the idea of moms having other moms’ backs in the parking lot whether they’re loading up or just can’t return a cart when they’ve got kids in tow. Kelly brings a little celeb news with the unremarkable Marie Kondo report, a surprisingly cluttered Julia Fox apartment tour, and Kylie Jenner’s baby name. To wrap up the segment, a rant about how bubble makeup headbands are making Kelly irrationally upset and Kelly starts her hair care journey with advice from Kathleen Post and Mary Orton. In industry news a new SUV has been released, the Mazda CX 90 with a plug-in hybrid option and third row seats that supposedly accommodate up to 8 people. Kelly says the former CX 9 was good value for a lot of tech, but not the best space for the money. Will the CX 90 surprise and delight or be about the same? On today’s ditch the drive-through Kelly shares her favorite foods that friends and family have brought her so that she could live off of something other than her pregnancy and postpartum favorite, Culvers. Topping the list are mom’s egg casserole, a big plate of cookies, asian inspired chicken and blanched veggies, homemade pizza, and a Trader Joe’s freezer haul.  Lizz plugs an Oreo-gate update that gluten-free double stuffed Oreos are the real winners. Maternity leave streaming recommendations round out this episode with Kelly and Lizz’s current favorite shows that everyone should binge including: Only Murderers in The Building, Abbott Elementary, That 90s Show, The Parent Test, and Ginny and Georgia. → To share your ditch the drive-through recipe with us, call (959) CAR-POOL and leave us a message! → Want our advice on literally anything? FREDUCCINE ALFREDO
2206
Cue the confetti, it’s time to welcome Baby Fred to the Carpool podcast! Kelly’s answering questions from the Carpool Instagram and shares her regrets and recommendations from her third baby’s birth and postpartum period. You’re in for a wonderful birth story that left Kelly shocked in the best way.  The hardest part of three, is Fred really giving farm, and nurse baskets top the listener questions list. You’ll also hear what Kelly is finding the most and least helpful postpartum.  Today’s driveway dump — delivery edition — includes Fred’s jaundice story, online shopping during early labor, and Kelly’s biggest regret that had her absolutely appalled in the delivery room. To wrap up the show, Kelly shares her birth and newborn must-haves including: a heating pad at the hospital, BYOS (bring your own Stanley), Bodily bras, Copper Pearl swaddle blankets, Lansinoh gel pads, and a hand pump. → To share your ditch the drive-through recipe with us, call (959) CAR-POOL and leave us a message! → Want our advice on literally anything? NOBODY LIKES A DUVET
3908
Baby Stumpy’s still in the belly, so Kelly and Lizz are bringing you an episode that is nothing if not chaotic.  In today’s millennial word segment we learn Gen Z slangs so we can be less lame. Today’s word is ‘jump scare.’ Kelly also adds an idiom of the day because Lizz knows absolutely none of them. Today’s idiom is ‘still water runs deep’ which launches the duo into a trip down memory lane reminiscing about Kelly’s car salesman days. Kelly’s binging Architectural digest celebrity house tours on YouTube, comparing celebrities vs. influencers, and rants about how we need to stop saying ‘wait until’ and ‘at least’ to mothers for her driveway dump.  The hate eight of household chores decides which is the worst of the worst. Going head to head for the most hated crown are: changing bedsheets and duvet cover; doing laundry; paying bills; washing dishes; cleaning the toilet, shower and bathtub; taking out the trash and breaking down boxes; pet care and cleaning up dog hair; and cleaning floors. Automotive Gossiper, aka car buying expert, Zack Sheska from Car Edge, joins Kelly and Lizz for a zesty industry news today. Is Tesla quaking in their boots? Zack gives the gals the scoop on tax incentives and why the company might be dropping their prices. Cash is king according to Zack in the car buying arena right now and he predicts we’ll see incentives make a comeback. Zack also gives his take on Carvana and sight unseen car purchases. Matza ball soup is for dinner tonight at Zacks and he shares his super simple recipe so you can ditch the drive-through, too.  → To share your ditch the drive-through recipe with us, call (959) CAR-POOL and leave us a message! → Want our advice on literally anything? SIX OF ONE IN A ZESTY BLACK KETTLE CASTING STONES
2985
Lizz is owning her seat as the Carpool co-host, and Kelly’s the pot calling the kettle black as she tries to get into listening to a new podcast where the hosts just talk about themselves.  Today’s millennial word, zesty, comes from a 15-year-old who filled Lizz in over the weekend. In short, this is the perfect filler word when you have no idea what to say.  Kelly is bringing part one of a two-part driveway dump today that starts with a birthday shoutout to Blake from Blake’s besties on January 19th. Happy Birthday, Blake! Kelly claims that Tarzan, the OG of soundtracks, walked so Frozen could run, she’s back in her ugly and only three-pair-of-pants-fit era, and shares the life-changing magic of her new 911 hamper. Lizz chimes in with a report about her glue-on-nails experience, and the calls are making a call for press-on nail recommendations from listener experts. → Shoot the gals an email with yours hello@thecarmomofficial.com Today’s episode is sponsored by Rocket Money, formerly known as Truebill. Kelly is available in her DMs to defend today’s winner.  Today’s industry news is sponsored by Edmunds.com. Edmonds thinks Kelly and Lizz are just working too hard. That’s why they brought them a round up of the best current industry news to share on this episode so that you, too, can sound like a total baddie who knows what’s up in the current car market.  Leases are the highest since November of 2007, so buying is hot. Interest rates are still high, and trade-in prices are starting to fall. Find out what your trade-in is worth on Edmunds with their easy to use trade-in value and appraisal tool. Inventory’s low but on its way up as overall car prices are coming down. If you’re shopping, keep an eye out for CPOs (certified pre-owned cars) — Lizz and Kelly explain why.  Lizz shares her chicken pesto pasta so you can ditch the drive-through this week on pasta Monday. Kelly reads Amy’s Philly cheesesteak sandwich recipe that she’ll definitely be trying with some leftover hot dog buns.  → To share your ditch the drive-through recipe with us, call (959) CAR-POOL and leave us a message! AN IMPORTANT EMOJI UPDATE FOR THE OLDER FOLKS
2431
Kelly’s still holding the baby in and Lizz is preparing for the wedding retreat of the year. The millennial word of the day kicks off today's episode on the topic of where we’re at with emojis. Sydney and Grayson’s most recently used emojis get the full Millennial analysis and Gen Z confirms that laughing faces are back.  Today’s episode is sponsored by Rocket Money, formerly known as Truebill. Going into 2023, if one of your goals is to save money or become more financially savvy, check out Rocket Money. → Download the Rocket Money app at rocketmoney.com/carpool   In Kelly’s driveway dump segment, she asks wtf a tubing mascara is (someone please Google it), the Chatbooks monthly subscription has lured Kelly in, and the Route shipping and tracking app is her new obsession.  Lizz’s maternity shirts, silver drop wedding earrings, and new planner — that both girls are now obsessed with — are her last three transactions. Kelly’s defending her barefoot dreams robe purchase and is in awe about how Tyler proved his farm-strength when their water heater went out and he had to buy and install a new one at 9pm. A hilarious industry news features a report from the Consumer Electronics Show in Vegas that includes BMW’s talking car, DEE (the Digital Emotional Experience) that Lizz hates as well as Ram’s first electric pickup and its third row jump seats. CarMax, Carvana and Vroom are staying out of the Super Bowl — not surprising — and the numbers are in on what you would have lost if you’d invested in last year’s super bowl advertisers. Kelly also gives a cool shout out to some Hyundai and Kia anti-theft efforts coming from her family's car dealerships. Ditch the drive-through today comes from Lizz and Trader Joe’s. NAPTIME KITCHEN JOINS KELLY AND LIZZ
3381
Kelly has touched grass and has something to say about Oreo-gate from Tuesday’s episode before diving into a dream-guest filled episode with Kate from Naptime Kitchen.  The millennial word of the day today is ‘social battery.’ Just another way that Gen Z and millennials say ‘I need some alone time.’ Today’s episode is brought to you by carmomofficial.com. Where you can find all of the vehicle tips, tricks, and tours to make your family’s car shopping experience ah-ma-zing. Thanks to the Car Mom for always doing the most. In a sort-of driveway dump Kelly gives a nod to Jim from the office for his leaving-the-party-early hacks. Lizz places her bet on the 16th for Kelly’s baby’s arrival, Kelly guesses the 18th, and both marvel at the miracle of growing a tiny human. Lizz reports she felt her first little bubble kicks this week! Kelly’s idol, Kate from Naptime Kitchen, who is also the most relatable mommy blogger is today’s guest. You can find the NTK goods the gals talked about with Kate here: The Home Reset (how to make your home work for you) and here: The Able Bag. The great eight of Kate reveals what the most groundbreaking, shareable Naptime Kitchen hack or mindset is. Vying for the title are: the heating pad in bed, Christmas clothing bin for kids, pasta Monday, you don’t have to only bring homemade stuff to people when you’re bringing a meal to, shoebox lids for drawer storage, toy purgatory, cutting your beach sandwiches, and your most nutritious meal doesn’t have to be dinner. The segment proves that Kate is the real-world mom missing in the influencer world. In industry news, we find out how Kate’s minivan is working for her family of six. She shares what she drove before, why she decided to say yes to the Honda Odyssey, and why her family might outgrow the minivan down the road.  Today’s ditch the drive-through from Kate is a ‘hardest night of the week’ hack. Kate takes a look at her calendar and chooses the most low-energy, tight on time night of the week and makes it crock pot night, pasta night, or choose your own sandwich night. Lizz is here for good parenting while doing the least.  Kelly names her top Naptime Kitchen recipes to wrap up the episode: BBQ Chicken Quinoa Casserole Creamy Chicken Enchiladas Warming Chicken Curry → To share your ditch the drive-through recipe with us, call (959) CAR-POOL and leave us a message! → Want our advice on literally anything? OREO SCIENCE
2882
Is mom-shaming on the rise? In this random yet highly entertaining episode a very tired Lizz and Kelly talk about Car Mom nesting, Oreo conspiracy theories, and the forgotten Dcom smash hit that should have won last episode’s great eight.  Kelly reveals the name everyone’s guessing for her baby that is wrong and drops another baby name clue.  The millennial word of the day is touch grass. As in, the people sending Kelly unhinged DMs about her kids’ bedroom and LV bag really need to go touch some grass.  Kelly and Lizz are both putting their word of the year to use and will be normalizing blocking people and saving a buck.  Headlining today’s driveway dump is Disney World hype. What’s with the iconic food at this theme park? Is it as good as it looks or is it just glorified amusement park food? Kelly shares three things she’s NEVER bought for a pregnancy including, obviously, a totally unsafe pregnancy seatbelt contraption. Lizz tests out here Oreo conspiracy theory on today’s taste test with regular Oreos, double stuff Oreos, mega stuff Oreos, Oreo thins, caramel coconut flavor of Oreo, and the golden double stuffed Oreos — and a very scientific study from 2013.  Dog girl and horse girl play a word car game and in industry news Kelly recaps her recent car tours and gives her heated opinion on dealership and independent car manufacturers sales drama. Listener Krista shares a ditch the drive-through pantry clean out hack: whatever-you-have snack mix. She throws together half used cereals, pretzels, raisins, m and m’s, and any other pantry scraps and her kiddos love it.  → To share your ditch the drive-through recipe with us, call (959) CAR-POOL and leave us a message! → Want our advice on literally anything? MILITARY SCHOOL AND QUICKSAND AND D-COMS
3319
Can Kelly set the world record for a podcast recorded closest to giving birth? Only time will tell. Until we find out…Lizz has a new game obsession, while Kelly’s desperate for content, eating her feelings, and she’s here to complain. The millennial word of the day is ‘bot’ which is someone being stupid, robotic, and ridiculous. Take offense if you’re called a bot.  Today’s episode is sponsored by Rocket Money, formerly known as Truebill. This personal finance app finds and cancels unwanted subscriptions, monitors spending, and helps you lower your bills—all in one, easy-to-use place. Going into 2023, if one of your goals is to save money or become more financially savvy, check out Rocket Money. → Download the Rocket Money app at rocketmoney.com/carpool   The Tik Tok listener report confirms that The Car Mom will not be taking up space on the app in 2023, and a listener gives the gals a fantastic question to ask themselves, “Would Tik Tok make you happier?” Kelly’s driveway dump features two polar opposite stories. One is about protecting your peace, traumatic Go Fund Me’s, and trigger warnings; the other is about normalizing fall decor vs. Halloween decor and normalizing winter decor vs. Christmas decor.  Disney channel original movies, aka Dcoms, are today’s great eight. If The Lizzie McGuire movie hadn’t been in theaters only, it would have beaten every single movie on the list, including Cadet Kelly, Zenon, Johnny Tsunami, High School Musical, Twitches, Cheetah Girls, Quints, and Luck of the Irish. In industry news, the manufacturer had the most recalls for the second year in a row, with 65 recalls in 2022; four major EV trends to watch for 2023, including luxury trade-ins and the breakdown of brand loyalty; and a delightful full-on 2023 SUV comparison.  St. Louis native, Dr. Danielle calls in with today’s ditch the drive-through that will satisfy your White Castle craving *and* get you ready to feed a crowd.  → To share your ditch the drive-through recipe with us, call (959) CAR-POOL and leave us a message! → Want our advice on literally anything? COUNTING OUR MACROS (AND MICROS AND MID-TIERS)
3206
Will Kelly be on brand with a car baby birth this year? She sure hopes not.  The gals kick off the first episode of 2023, talking about birth anxiety and how much Kelly hates taking time off. Kelly drops another baby name clue and stresses how very much this baby’s name is NOT Earl. Lizz recaps her favorite Christmas gifts from Mattie and mom while Kelly is obsessed with her new grape cutter.  Today’s episode is sponsored by Rocket Money, formerly known as Truebill. Going into 2023, if one of your goals is to save money or become more financially savvy, check out Rocket Money. → Download the Rocket Money app at rocketmoney.com/carpool   The millennial word of the day today turns into a millennial trend with a Gen Z twist — shot books on Canva. Kelly and Lizz tangent into a slightly frenzied mom chat about how their kids will ever look back on family photos when they’re all stuck in the cloud.  Kelly’s driveway dump includes a confession about coffee that’s ONLY $7.75. The gals break down listener feedback on what makes a car affordable, rave about their at-home makeup class, and note that rounding out the holidays with a December 26th meal plan will be a non-negotiable next year. To wrap up the segment, Kelly and Lizz determine if they are nano, micro, mid-tier, or macro influencers, and Kelly chooses her scent of the year.  Chomps beef sticks make an appearance on today’s taste drive, and both gals agree — they’re tasty Slim Jims without all the extra grease and gross ingredients.  In industry news, five cars that shook up the auto industry in 2022 include the F-150 Lightning, Corvette Z06, and Kia EV6, and used car prices are finally dropping in 2023.  Listeners are asking for advice, and Kelly and Lizz are here to give their unqualified opinions. The gals answer questions about locking seat belts, recommend the resqme®, and share how they balance spending time with family and getting time alone with their husbands and kids.  For a special night when you want to ditch the drive-through or really ditch going out entirely, try Kelly and Lizz’s favorite feels-like-a-restaurant meal of steaks, baked potatoes, all the fixings, and Car Mom broccoli. → To share your ditch the drive-through recipe with us, call (959) CAR-POOL and leave us a message! → Want our advice on literally anything? LAST ONE OF 2022
2777
Lizz has got a bit of seasonal depresh’ and a few pregnancy tears to shed to kick off this episode that is nothing if not chaotic — just like the holiday weather coming into Missouri.   Kelly checks in with Lizz on her pregnancy, Kelly makes car seat plans, and Lizz reveals her eco-not-so-friendly Tupperware secret. A game of the new mom Price is Right is next to see if Lizz can guess the price of baby wipes, sleeper jammies, and more. The millennial word of the day is ‘facey.’ If you have a facey Christmas, then you might have run into a ton of people you know at Target.  Kelly’s driveway dump brings us the ever heated issue of pantyhose, the no man’s land of doing nothing and how to give your nothing 100% and a big debate: Is it okay to take your shoes off at weddings? Lizz shares her rules and Kelly says you can be fun with your shoes on.  In industry news, car dealership guy on Twitter says he’s found something shocking about car loans and repossessions — Kelly’s not buying it. And Instagram reels is the facey-est place on the internet.  2022 in review for Lizz includes a move to Missouri, wedding, and pregnancy. While both gals fondly remembered the New York Auto Show and the Vegas NADA event. Kelly shares her word of the year for 2023 and rants about mom shame. And both gals hype the difference between Carmom reviews and other car tours.  Crockpot chicken tacos show up for today’s ditch the drive-through, but December Kelly cannot get over how great October Kelly was for making Christmas lasagna.  → To share your ditch the drive-through recipe with us, call (959) CAR-POOL and leave us a message! → Want our advice on literally anything? THE MOSTLY KELLY SHOW
2852
Kelly’s in a weird mood, and Lizz is in pregnancy no-man’s-land, but this episode is still jam-packed with everything you love from the Carpool Podcast. Today’s first sponsor, Uncommon Goods, is your secret weapon if you want to avoid basic and bland gifts this holiday season. They scour the globe for the most remarkable and truly unique gifts for everyone on your list. They have something for everyone, from jewelry to the kitchen, bar, him, her, kids, and more. Uncommon Goods is here to make your shopping stress free.  To get 15% off your next gift, go to uncommongoods.com/carpool for 15% off. Don’t miss out on this limited-time offer on Uncommon Goods! In today’s driveway dump, Kelly’s making stovetop potpourri from her kids’ leftovers, and Lizz is kinda grossed out. Cameo kids have arrived, and Kelly is here to make a PSA. Moms, you can’t let this $30 nonsense happen. The topic of tipping culture is back for part two. Lizz guesses the most popular baby names of 2022, and Kelly drops another baby name hint.  Kelly’s got a hot take on Barefoot Dreams' chokehold on millennials, and she’s ready for a blind test drive to see if the hype is worth it with Lizz. Today, she’s putting an Amazon dupe to the test with an authentic Barefoot Dreams blanket.  In industry news, Automotive News reports that Mitsubishi is releasing its 2023 Outlander Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV), and is priced from $41K. Unfortunately, the EV doesn’t qualify for the federal tax EV credit. Motor Trend has published a sassy opinion piece that reports we’re being lied to about EV cars. Kelly’s here for the skepticism and a breakdown of direct ICE and indirect EV emissions. The best 2022 new car deals are bringing super low incentives. Both are looking forward to the stranger-checking-you-out-at-the-gas-station-after-pregnancy era. Today’s taste drive is a Trader Joe’s chocolate orange purchase that Kelly could not resist, and a Carpool listener asks about dating, dealership family life, and car judgment. Kelly’s driveway dump brings up strong opinions about eating Oreos without milk. The gals ponder a dupe purchase of the Barefoot Dreams blanket Lizz wants for Christmas, discuss what Kelly bought for Tyler to give her, and share a baby name clue that includes sibling name suggestions for Kelly’s baby’s name. Lizz recaps The Christmas Prince solo, which is quite deep for an engagement that came together in two weeks.  Today’s industry news is brought to you by Primal Kitchen. Kelly and Lizz are excited about Primal Kitchen’s new buffalo sauce, that is bursting with buffalo flavor, dairy-free, keto certified, certified paleo, and whole 30 approved. The gals discuss how diversity is the Gen Z norm, how they're all about pragmatism, and what has made them the loneliest generation.  Kelly's driveway dump includes Macy Blackwell — one of the gals' IG holiday obsessions — and check-in on micro-influencers. Kelly and Lizz report on their Amazon Live flop and recommend the site Like to Know It for their micro-influencer listeners. Pregnancy insomnia, pick-one daily priorities, and a breast pump update round out the segment.  A listener writes in for advice on who she should invite to her kids' birthday parties. Kelly and Lizz run down the list of possible guests — family members, parent friends, kid's friends, and more — and how they'd make their guest lists.   Mom Water is the sponsor of today's test drive. NAPS ARE NEVER WRONG
2972
Halloween feels like it was yesterday, but Lizz is already decking the halls, Kelly is prepping a 3-foot tree for George and Hattie's room, and Tyler the Grinch is no help. Today, the gals take a moment to get ready for Thanksgiving, though.  Today's great eight brings you all the Thanksgiving vibes: a cocktail, cheese board, and kitchen gossip; meal prep and the parade; a post-Turkey-Trot donut; pumpkin pie and decaf; Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping; Friday leftovers, letting your Christmas flag fly guilt-free; and an after-meal nap with football in the background. Today's millennial word of the day brings you 'rizz' 2.0 from a Gen Z family friend who has Kelly and Lizz's back. Listen in to see if you know someone who has 'w-rizz' or 'l-rizz.'  Habit stacking your morning and nighttime routine is the star of Kelly's driveway dump. No excuses. Get to it. Kelly shares her thoughts on the TSA sock-check — aka you should always be prepared to take your shoes off — and where she's found her new favorite boot socks. The satisfaction of using up and pulling 'empties' and clearing Christmas clutter round out the segment.  You don't want to be talking politics with your uncles and aunts this Thanksgiving, so why not talk auto and shake hands after? Today's industry news hits hard, so you can make more than small talk over dinner.  Today's industry news is sponsored by Edmunds.com. Kelly loves Edmunds for her car consultations because they make everything easy, user-friendly, and digestible. Edmunds has over 50 years of car shopping advice and price guidance all right in one place.  The first female crash dummy has arrived, and Astrid Linder shares all about it in her TED Talk. The 2022 LA Auto show is happening, and the gals agree it's time for the 2023 Toyota Prius to be the moment. Also debuting at the show will be the 2024 Subaru Impreza, 2024 Kia Seltos, Vinfast's new EVs, and the Genesis GV 70 electric. By 2035 electric truck stops will need as much power as a small town, and gas stations will need as much as a professional sports stadium. Can we handle it?  If you're wondering what you'll do with your Thanksgiving leftovers this year, you won't want to miss today's ditch the drive-through. A listener writes in with their Thanksgiving shepherd's pie, Kelly and Lizz share their favorite sauce for turkey sandwiches, Durkee Famous Sauce, and Kelly shares a generational tradition — turkey tetrazzini.  → To share your ditch the drive-through recipe with us, call (959) CAR-POOL and leave us a message! → Want our advice on your next car (or just got a life question for us)? KIDS, COME MEET YOUR NEW MOM ALEXA!
2151
Kelly and Lizz, sans guests, have a LOT to catch you up on today. Kell is feeling super pregnant, is looking forward to the holidays, and will be doing a lot of hand washing and saying her prayers to keep her and the baby healthy into the new year.  Did today's millennial word start with drag queens? In any case, 'wig,' as in, 'I was so shocked my wig fell off,' is just another bit of Gen Z slang that the gals will not be using.  Kelly's driveway dump features Alexa timer parenting, teaching your kids to be polite to robots, and how she plans to make her hospital stay a super cozy spa time with her new baby. The gals discuss when the Christmas tree will go up, and Kelly gets jazzed about the yard blow-up she's sneaking into her outdoor decor. Her excitement spills over to kitten heels making a comeback. To wrap up the segment, Kelly shares a little rant about giving credit for vague advice. Minivan mom Megan writes in on today's advice segment looking for a spacious recommendation for her family. Kelly explores this mama's many options, including another minivan for the teens and a sleeker Expedition or Tahoe for herself.  In industry news, EV registrations through September are up 57% in the US. Volvo is releasing a new three-row SUV EV. The EX 90 will be under $80,000 and will launch in 2024. The car is said to be safer than any Volvo car to come before it. Head to The Car Mom's YouTube to check out the new Rivian tour and subscribe so you don't miss Kelly's complete Honda Pilot release reaction that is coming soon! THE FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH IS AT TRADER JOE'S
3058
The queen herself and the Carpool’s most iconic guest, Car Grandma Kris, returns for a family-packed episode with Kelly and Lizz.  ‘Guap’ — not guac — is today’s millennial word of the day. And while Kelly and Lizz don’t need to be ‘coutin’ their guap,’ at least they now know Gen Zers are talking about their cash-money, not an add-on to their Chipotle bowl.  A love and wisdom-filled Q&A with today’s guest brings you all the secrets to life, love, and aging in reverse. Kris shares where you can find the fountain of youth on your local Trader Joe’s shelves and names one of her favorite products for achieving a little glow every day. Kelly and Lizz also ask their mom about her current ride, how she met their dad, and how she juggled raising five kids along with the rest of life. You won’t want to miss her sage parenting, marriage, and holiday planning advice. The Car Grandma also joins Kelly and Lizz for a special taste drive of Mom Water. Mom Water sponsors today’s test drive, sending over their iconic, fun, and refreshing drinks for the gals to sip (and spit, in Kelly’s case). Not only is Mom Water a fantastic non-carbonated seltzer alternative, their cans are also stunning, and their ingredients are super simple. Lizz and Mattie's first suburban Halloween might have been a bummer, but Lizz is back, and the gals are ready to show up and show out. Grayson's boyfriend, Drew, shares the word's meaning via audio note, and the gals defend Drew's honor after playing the gag-worthy slang definition. OF COURSE WE HAVE A COURSE
2772
Kelly and Lizz are making sassy sister Halloween plans and spilling the tea on the 2023 Kila Telluride event on today’s episode of The Carpool Podcast.  Killing it is out, and ‘ate that’ is in on today’s millennial word of the day. And the gals definitely ‘ate’ the new Car Mom car buying course. This course has been in the works for ages and is finally ready for The Car Mom crew. Today’s episode sponsor is thecarmomofficial.com, where you can now grab your copy of the course and get to buying. Inside you’ll find absolutely everything you need to know about the car-buying process. Kelly and Lizz dub San Antonio, Texas c-u-u-u-t-e and have only positive things to say about their stay at the Hotel Emma. Goat cheese, fennel, and rosemary were everywhere, and Kelly was all about seconds. The 2023 Telluride has a handful of exterior updates, and the gals share their take on how Kia rolls out new models year after year.  Kelly brings a click monster of an article to discuss titled, “Stylists reveal 14 items from your 2022 wardrobe that you should get rid of,” from Insider. From headbands to high-waisted pants, the article doubles down on styles Kelly and Lizz thought were just coming back. Moral of the story: Love your body, love what you’re wearing, and love the way you’re made. In today’s advice segment, Kelly directs a listener to Gap to find a cute holiday outfit for her little guy. Kelly’s driveway dump brings you slippers galore and a star-studded, hilarious, and wholesome movie recommendation: What to Expect When You’re Expecting. In industry news, a Toyota Grand Highlander has been spotted in Michigan, and it’s giving minivan. Jeep wants help naming their all-new electric Wagoneer SUV, codenamed Wagoneer S, for speed.  Diane from Kentucky calls in with today’s ditch the drive-through and shares a quick and easy quiche that’s perfect for heating up during the week.  Blake’s Besties honors Nicolette, who lost three babies this year: Primrose, Paul, Emma, and Paige, who lost her daughter Heiden Adelle in September at 17 weeks. Kelly and Lizz extend a huge thank you to all the amazing moms who wrote in and shared their stories. They’ve read them all, they’re with you, and will be praying for you! THIS PODCAST IS DAD APPROVED

Little cutie Corbin, who’s now a Carpool star, kicks off today’s episode, which is packed with the segments you know and love. “Big brain” is today’s millennial word of the day, as in, Tik Tok is small brain, and IG is big brain. 90’s throwbacks from the driveway diaries include bubbles you could eat and silk accessory scarves that are coming back hot. Kelly also clears up all the confusion surrounding the two-ingredient pumpkin muffin recipe.  The great eight of children’s cereal — Kelly and Lizz’s favorite nightcap — is here. Cocoa Puffs, Cocoa Pebbles, Fruit Loops, Lucky Charms, Cookie Crisp, Reese’s Puffs, Captain Crunch, and Trix are going head to head. Cereal connoisseur and Stumpe sibling Craig joins the gals for a tiebreaker.  Kelly raves about her favorite Edmunds.com tools that make car shopping so easy — a hat tip to the fantastic sponsor of today’s industry news. Kelly’s favorite tools are the comparison tool for a side-by-side comparison of four vehicles, the price checker tool for comparing car prices in your area, and the appraisal tool that shows you what your car is worth in minutes.  The Acura ZDX collab with General motors is giving precision EV essence, and Mercedes is expanding its crossover lineup with the ugliest car Kelly’s ever seen in her life, the EQE. Industry news also brings a report of the Rivian R1T recall repair process that affected 12,000 vehicles. How long did the inspection and repair take? Listen in to find out. Ditch the drive-through sweet chili salmon from Kelly and Lizz’s new favorite Instagrammer: Trader Joe’s Five Items or Less. Run, don’t walk to @traderjoes5itemsorless There’s no fear or guilt, just gratitude on today’s Blake’s Besties segment. Today, we’re remembering Cooper James, who turned his mom into a ketchup lover, Noa — Courtney’s baby who just got their special name, and Greyson, who had his mama inhaling jars of pickles through her 17 weeks of pregnancy.  Share your sweet, fun, and funny ‘gone too soon’ baby memories with us, and we’ll read them on the show at hello@thecarmomofficial.com Today’s episode is brought to you by Athletic Greens. UP THE CREEK WITHOUT A PADDLE
2682
Does a Carpool episode exist that is not absolutely jam-packed? Absolutely not. In today’s episode, Jessica from Edmunds spills some car industry tea in a special interview segment, Kelly defends her podcast one-liners, and Grayson brings us the millennial word of the day “boxed.” Kelly’s driveway diaries are full of curiosity. With a dash of sass, the gals explore: Where are the baby shark kids now? Has anyone checked with North Face about their fanny packs? And why is the value of an IG follower more than the value of a TikTok follower?  Lizz shares about her smashing success with her latest new-construction home improvement project, understandably brags about her Facebook Marketplace finds, and shares a bit of a warning about clicking random listings that could lead down an algorithm rabbit hole. What’s happening in the car market that isn’t getting enough attention? Edmunds’ Executive Director of Insights, Jessica, is here to tell all. To top off the interview, Jessica brings us today’s ditch the drive-through: salmon in the air fryer. Be sure to check out Edmunds’ leasing calculator, loan payment calculator, and incentives search feature mentioned in today’s show.  To share your ditch the drive-through recipe with us, call (959) CAR-POOL and leave us a message! Kelly and Lizz give A+ advice to a listener on what to wear to a dressy casual wedding at a winery brewery. This is a tricky one, and the gals truly bring it.  Want our advice on your next car (or just got a life question for us)? Shoot us an email for a chance to get your questions featured on the show at hello@thecarmomofficial.com Blake’s Besties today honors baby Johnston (18 weeks) with Janelle, who loved their solo sunrize moments. PUT YOUR LASAGNA IN A LOAF PAN
3029
Kelly feels 99-years-old testing out today’s millennial word — fade — followed by perusing a J14 magazine complete with quizzes, horoscopes, and first-date advice.  Deux cookie dough from Shark Tank stars in today’s taste drive. Three gluten-free, vegan flavors go head to head: pink frosting, brownie batter, and smores. Which flavors will get the fade, and which one will win Carpool approval?  Driveway dump is now driveway diaries where Kelly brings you her hopes, dreams, and fears. Today, she’s got a chicken salad update, Patreon celeb drama to report on, and Lizz is concerned about Kelly’s Bethany Frankel ‘can’t-look-away’ obsession. Carvana, the ‘pick me’ girl of the auto industry, gets their dealership license suspended in Michigan. Rivian just recalled nearly every vehicle they’ve made and promises to make repairs in pop-up tents. And the most popular used car paint color in the US is revealed in today’s industry news.  Blake’s besties are here for Pregnancy Infant Loss Awareness Month, honoring Babies Miles Elijah and Red West, who send their mommy butterflies, Melvin Donald (aka Pork Chop) sends his rainbows to say hello, and Zoe May, whose mom shares her story of her angel nurse.  → Share your sweet, fun, and funny memories with us, and we’ll read them on the show at hello@thecarmomofficial.com Today’s ditch the drive-through recipe is ‘pick-ones’ from Lizz, who says to keep mealtime simple and don’t make it such a big deal. THIS IS NOT A DRIVEWAY DUMP
2976
Carpool Karaoke, anyone? Kelly and Lizz belt out “Bop To The Top” as they embrace today’s millennial word of the day and kick off a jam-packed episode. Listen in for celebrity biz predictions, holiday vibes, a driveway dump from Kelly, a great eight taste drive gone sour (candy, that is), and more of your Carpool faves.  NOW ON PRESALE and sponsoring today’s episode: Car Mom holiday lights! We all know there’s a time and a place for holiday magnets and it’s every time and everywhere. These cuties are BACK and better than ever. Holiday lights will be shipping out the first week of November so grab yours while they’re still in stock: shopthecarmomofficial.com Kelly’s driveway dump includes predictions of Mogurly Bethany Frankel’s beauty biz future and tips on how to use your kids’ holiday jammies. Then, the gals dive deep into their favorite kind of investigative journalism to bring you today’s great eight: the best (non-chocolate) gas station candy. Contenders for today’s sweet, sour, and fruity taste drive are Sour Patch Kids Watermelon, Haribo Gummy Bears, Sour Punch Straws, Trolli Sour Bite Crawlers Very Berry, Starburst, Momba’s, Skittles, and Nerd Gummy Clusters. Another odd and interesting Elon Musk story is making headlines in industry news as Musk introduces Optimus, a robot who can raise the roof and not much more. Edmunds puts the fuel economy of the EV Ford Lightning, gas-powered Chevy Silverado, diesel RAM 1500, and a hybrid F-150 to the test and Honda launches their new 2024 Prologue, an EV crossover collab with GM.  Lizz takes on the advice segment today to answer a listener’s question about making friends as an adult with an 18-month-old in a new city. Kelly takes the backseat as she’s an ‘I want to be invited but probably won’t come’ kind of girly.  Today on Blake’s Besties (a special segment in honor of pregnancy loss awareness month), we hear a bit more about Rachel’s little one, Blake, and Ria’s baby girl Emma.  Share your sweet, fun, and funny memories with us and we’ll read them on the show at hello@thecarmomofficial.com Wrapping up today’s show is a ditch the drive-through that lets you do THE MOST or the absolute least: Shepherd’s Pie.   To share your ditch the drive-through recipe with us, call (959) CAR-POOL and leave us a message! BIG TRASH WEEK
2573
Is it a vent sesh or another episode of the Carpool pod chock full of all your favorite segments? How about both? Lizz brings the new construction neighborhood news, and Kelly reports on her ‘big trash week’ treasures. Kelly has some things to get off her chest, and the episode wraps with a few heartfelt tears.  Kelly and Lizz’s little sister Sydney came through with the millennial word of the day today: slay. As in, “That’s so slay,” and, “Stay slay forever!”  The gals continue their search for a soda to drink that isn’t soda on the taste drive with the Cola, Cherry Cola, and Dr. Zevia flavors from Zevia. Kelly and Lizz don’t see eye to eye on the reviews but agree that they’d splurge on the Mountain Dew and Grape Soda-inspired flavors to try them, too.  Kelly shares how she’s using Canva to make mood boards for her kids’ rooms and recommends a podcast listen: How I Built This featuring Melanie Perkins, the creator of Canva.  Kelly recaps her lasagna marathon and is excited for her next meal-prep date with a bestie that’ll stock her freezer full of tasty chicken enchiladas. The gals love the new buzz about butter boards, and their chat triggers Kelly’s next pregnancy craving. Lizz adds some Trader Joe’s dinner inspiration to the mix and suggests that everyone follow the fabulous Anna Lisa over at @traderjoes5itemsorless. Industry news today is sponsored by Edmunds. Car shopping can be confusing, especially new car shopping with the current inventory shortages. Things are starting to cool off in the used car market, and Edmonds goes the extra mile to make car buying easier. They have a ton of used car buying resources like car reviews, video test drives, online shopping tools, and the latest consumer advice. Check them out at Edmunds.com  The industry’s anti-slay of the day award goes to Elon Musk, who is claiming that the new Tesla truck will be waterproof enough to serve briefly as a boat. Car and Driver is asking some hard-hitting EV questions and the gals are curious, too: What are fire-fighter concerns about taming an EV fire? Kith partners with BMW on a new line featuring Edward Norton, and the gals dream up a handful of other darling ideas for triad collabs. TRIGGER WARNING: Today’s advice segment speaks about pregnancy loss as October is pregnancy infant loss awareness. The Carpool will support moms in honor of our listener who wrote in and shared about her loss. SO ... HOW WAS THE CAR SHOW?
2645
The recap you’ve been waiting for is HERE! Kelly and Lizz are living their dream come true. It was amazing. Iconic. A movement. A historic event…IT WAS THE CAR MOM AUTO SHOW!!! The auto show setup was an absolute RUSH. The gals share how they got ready for the show and who their MVP team members turned out to be. One amazing Car Mom follower even got put to work (voluntarily!) and became a staple team member of the auto show overnight. Kelly and Lizz reveal which car at the show had the most QR code hits and which one surprised car show-goers.  Attendees lined up at the door before the two o’clock start and came from as far as Seattle, New York, Massachusetts, Florida, and Colorado. The gals are obsessed with the crew who showed up and share what made this show extra special compared to every other audio show they’ve been to.  Today’s Gen Z and Millennial updates include an ‘emo’ inspired phrase of the day and a new trend that Kelly and Lizz are pretty excited about: ballet flats. They both agree the chunky shoe moment was getting out of hand, and they’re ready for these darling shoes to have their time again.  Three quake-worthy industry news stories bring you an exciting update from Hertz rental cars and BP. The companies are teaming up to create an EV charging network — but how will the logistics work?! 40,000 Ford F-150 trucks are stuck in storage and waiting to be ready for sale since they’re missing their blue oval badge, and Volkswagen is creating a vision of the future for travel that will help you sleep on the go.  Ditch the drive-through today comes from Billy in St. Louis. TARGET VS KOHL'S
2403
How’d The Carmom Auto Show go? Well, the news isn’t quite here yet! At the time of recording, Kelly and Lizz are preparing to move hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of brand new automobiles…and have no idea what to expect of the event. Will they be up all night? Did they ask for enough help? Stay tuned for the post-show recap next week! Today’s millennial phrase of the day — caught in 4K — takes Kelly and Lizz down a history rabbit hole, then off on a tangent of impressions. Next up, Kelly is serving a hot take on Target vs. Kohls and the downfall of the shopping mall.  Smart Sweets are featured on this episode's tasty test drive. Kelly and Lizz give their uncensored reviews and ratings of the Swedish fish, peach rings, watermelon bites, caramels, gummy worms, Cola gummies, licorice, and sour blast buddies. The gals agree that whatever you do, just stay away from the poop brown, flavorless gummy worms.  The 2023 Honda Pilot is finally being released in the most awkward way, and it’s keeping Kelly on the edge of her seat, asking all of the questions in today’s industry news. The new Toyota Sequoia gets a $391 million upgrade to its manufacturing plant, and a recent report reveals that traditional auto brands are coming for Tesla in the EV race.  Podcast listener Ashely brings PF Chang’s Lettuce Wraps from Damn Delicious to ditch the drive-through to wrap up the show. RAIN OR SHINE, THE SHOW MUST GO ON
2776
Kelly is sick to her stomach — and it's not the 20-week baby scan that has her tummy in a twist. The Car Mom Auto Show is coming up this Sunday, and the gals are ready, rain or shine. Bring your umbrella and get ready to check out the Honda Odyssey that even the NY Auto Show couldn't snag. 'Busted' makes an appearance as the millennial word of the day. This Gen Z slang is infiltrating today's controversial great eight, now renamed 'the great hate.'  Right now, EVERYTHING from the 2000s is back, and the gals are anticipating…and dreading what's next. Today's great hate features high school and college fashion trends of the 2010s. Thin infinity scarves, the color coral, owls, and chunky necklaces are just a few in the lineup. And wouldn't we all like to know when we're finally going to get our Zenon Girl of the 21st Century space girl vibes instead of these ever-returning trends? CBT News reports major automakers are diving into the metaverse to engage with digital car buyers. Toyota is focusing on its metaverse workspace, and Audi is turning their cars into moving theme parks. Lambo, Mercedes, and Ford are getting into NFTs and other VR technologies, while Subaru and Lexus are busy winning awards for their reputations. Questions have not stopped pouring in about micro-influencing. In today's advice segment, Kelly and Lizz answer a listener's question about moms influencing and showing kids on social media.  Ditch the drive-through comes to you from Shawna in Tennessee. CARPOOL IS A CANDY PODCAST NOW
2976
Second summer is heating up today’s episode with a controversial taste drive meets great eight (plus a few extras). An exciting invitation arrives, and ditch the drive-through brings the slow cooker magic and a delicious and healthy dessert. Kelly and Lizz talk about the hard-working food bloggers they could never be.  After deleting TikTok, Lizz has no idea what’s going on with Gen Z, yet she’s scraped the bottom of the barrel for today’s millennial phrase of the day, “take several seats.” If you’re too much, take several seats. In the spirit of Gen Z trends, Kelly and Lizz share the fall fashions they love and are resisting.  An invite arrives for the debut of the 2023 Kia Telluride in San Antonio, Texas and the gals wonder if the EV 9 invite is on its way next. Ford’s CEO is sticking with the V8 manual experience in the new Mustang that debuted recently at the Detroit International Auto Show. How I Built This featured RJ Scaringe recently, and the Rivian story did not disappoint. And to wrap up industry news, the gals share why Toyota isn’t all-in on electric vehicles — and why they aren’t.  The ultimate taste drive and great twelve today is brought to you by listener demand and trolling comments on the ‘gram. The Carpool audience came out swinging for their favorite candy bars, so Kelly and Lizz are doing their due diligence today with just about every other bar you could think of. Was Kelly sleeping on the true winner? Is Lizz just scared for her marriage, or can she be unbiased in her vote? And will the gals de-throne Twix in the end? Oh, the chocolatey drama. Today’s advice segment covers a few handy car-selling tips, and the show wraps with a full ditch the drive-through meal. A listener shares her slow-cooker chicken mushroom stroganoff with peas that looks FIRE, and Lizz shares a healthy PB and chocolate treat from Earthy Andy’s Plant Over Processed. BASIC AND PROUD OF IT
2994
Kelly and Lizz are giving basic and proud of it in this fall-tastic episode! If *you're* not basic this fall, what's wrong with *you*?  The gals are providing the $36 service everyone needs right now — a taste drive of the full lineup of Starbucks fall flavors. They're also sharing the one fall thing that has got to go and chatting about their pie baking goals.  Today's millennial word of the day is 'next question.' As in: "Sydney, is there anyone special you'd like to add to the family group chat?" Sydney: "Next question." Kelly and Lizz's last three transactions reveal an Abercrombie haul, an up-and-coming trend purchase at DSW, and Kelly's search for bump-friendly styles. The gals cover a few fall micro-trends, their upcoming color sessions, and how Brown is having a moment. In true crafty fall fashion, Lizz is loving her upcycled pot project, and Kelly is gearing up to make granny squares to crochet baby Stumpe's blanket.  Pioneer Woman's Chicken Tortilla Soup makes an appearance in today's ditch the drive through — and it smacks! Kelly also shares her faux meal planning that she's calling "Meal Vibing."  Industry news is model heavy. Kelly and Lizz report what they love about the new "Equinox" they toured, yet wonder, "If it doesn't look like an Equinox and doesn't act like an Equinox…what makes it an Equinox?" The devil works hard; Jeep works harder as they promise a line of 4 all-electric SUVs by 2025.  To wrap up the episode, Lizz answers a listener's question about home decor, wedding photos, and bouquet preservation.  → To share your ditch the drive-through recipe with us, call (959) CAR-POOL and leave us a message! → Want our advice on your next car (or just got a life question for us)? SELF CARE STARTS AT THE CAR WASH
2869
Just when the gals think there’s nothing to talk about, there’s everything to talk about. Today’s episode kicks off with an often overlooked self-care practice: car washes. Everyone knows a clean car drives better, so plug it into your routine, load up the kids for the wash adventure, and get yourself a car-wash membership.  It’s 2022, and the gals don’t do Mean Girls vibes, but today’s millennial word of the day is the controversial ‘pic me girl.’ As in, Tyler is a pic me girl about his favorite candy bar — which is in the running for the best gas station grab in today’s great eight.  Kelly and Lizz commit a crime and will probably be canceled for their picks in today’s great eight featuring Snickers, Twix, Kit Kats, Reese’s, 3 Musketeers, Hershey’s Cookies and Cream, Peanut M&Ms, and Milk Duds. Their secret candy desires are revealed as the gals crown the ultimate candy bar that’ll help you get your Halloween priorities straight, too.  Micro-influencer business advice is back as Kelly and Lizz share about getting started, keeping it simple, and being social. They encourage anyone wanting to become a micro-influencer to get consistent with stories and reels and share some absolute non-negotiable no’s about influencing on the ‘gram.  → Tag The Carpool on Instagram in your stories and share your successes! Get the Hyundai IONIQ 7 on your radar; the concept car is officially out, a man in Texas has the world’s first Rivian-powered vasectomy, and Kelly has questions about the sustainability of the electric used car market in industry news. To wrap up the show, Lizz shares her new favorite snack that’ll satisfy your sushi cravings and bookmarks a fun dino nugget mashed potato volcano to make with her future kiddos. FALL IS IN THE AIR
2714
The reviews are in, and everyone’s already raving about season two. New Carpool merch has just dropped, and you can now rock a Carpool sweatshirt in black or gray while chauffeuring your kiddos to school. So True Bestie shirts from season one are still available, too.  Kelly and Lizz bring a millennial word of the day from the ever-toxic Tik Tok — ratioed. Will Lizz get ratioed for her seasonal stance later in the episode?  If you’ve had enough of the internet lately — Kelly has — you’ll be nodding along as the gals discuss how unhinged Facebook reels are and how they beat the Tik Tok toxicity by switching to the less addicting IG reels.  → Kelly and Lizz are at 76K subscribers on YouTube, shooting for 100K! Subscribe to The Car Mom on YouTube here. When’s the perfect moment for grabbing your first PSL of the season? Kelly and Lizz have answers and the first great eight of season two. It’s giving fall. Bonfires, PSLs, home decor, and sweaters go head to head in this great eight. The gals call on mom to break their tie, which leads to mom’s chili taking over today’s ditch the drive-through. You can find mom’s legendary, award-winning chili recipe over on thecarmomofficial.com.  In industry news — which large SUVs are the most reliable, longest lasting, and most likely to reach 200K miles? A report from iseecars.com analyzed 1.8 million vehicles to find out. Kelly also shares a terrifying story from Motor Trend about Teslas running over child-sized mannequins. Yikes. We hate to see it.  Kelly and Lizz share their recommendations for non-mom friends and fans of the Carpool, and a heated buffalo wild wings debate wraps up today’s show. Why does it seem like all millennials have issues with their gut health? Lizz has been taking Binto’s Bloat Aid when indulging in foods like cheese, alcohol, bread, or an unpredictable test drive tasting on the show! OH, BOY
2557
Kelly’s gone rogue this week at Carters, Target, and Old Navy after finding out big baby news that she reveals on today’s show. Lizz adds to the baby fun with a list of illegal baby names worldwide. These two can’t keep a secret to save their lives, so today’s millennial word of the day — gatekeeping — just isn’t in their wheelhouse. The long-awaited Magic Spoon Cereal test drive is here! Do the 5 cups inside each box justify the $8.99 price tag? Kelly and Lizz taste-test the Fruity, Peanut Butter, and Chocolate flavors to find out. Kelly briefly updates us on her BeReal experience and dives into the industry news she managed to scrounge up this week. A recall of 2020-2022 Hyundai Palisades and Kia Tellurides over a fire risk affects 281,000 vehicles. The gals talk about air tag safety concerns and common signs of trafficking before getting ramped up about the upcoming Chevy Equinox unveiling that they’ll be in Detroit for next week. To wrap up industry news, Kelly shares a shocking story of a recent 2023 Corvette purchase in Texas. Ditch the drive-through today comes from Brittany in Philadelphia. The gals were on the hunt for a fantastic chicken salad, and Brittany delivered a delicious recipe with a poppy seed twist. A listener writes in for advice about adult birthday gift giving, and Kelly and Lizz share their thoughts about gift-y people, birthday people, and horoscope people. THE CLEAN (MARRIED AND PREGNANT) GIRL ASTHETIC
3359
Two very married gals are here today, bringing you SEASON 2 of the Carpool Podcast! They just keep climbing the charts — oops — so this episode kicks off with a little re-introduction.  The millennial word of the day is clean girl aesthetic, and like most Gen Z things, it’s hard to explain. Basically, Hailey Bieber + Athletic Greens = clean girl. Kelly and Liz offer a (not sponsored) apology to Dime perfume and share how wearing the perfume went over the last week. The test drive was a little harsh, but both gals are seriously considering a purchase now.  Today’s taste drive features three entirely unhinged oreo flavors: Toffee crunch Pumpkin spice with a vanilla cookie Caramel coconut that is giving Girl Scout Samoas Then, Kelly brings a wild card topic to the show: MLMs, micro-influencers, and making a little extra cash with affiliate links.  Industry news dives into Carvana’s new influencer commission model, why Kelly and Liz are not fans of the company, and what’s next for automobile affiliates. An inventory update from Automotive News estimates how long we’ll be at inventory record lows, while a Toyota report records highs in customer satisfaction. Kelly gets an invite from VIN Fast to tour their facilities in Vietnam, and data from IC Cars reveals the shocking percentage of EVs in each state. Ditch the drive-through, an artichoke rice salad from Brunch with Babs, had Kelly sold at first sight. Rice-A-Roni? Say no more. You can use this recipe as a side dish or add chicken to make it a meal. Yum! Are car dealership trade-in promotions spam mail or legit? In this week’s advice segment, Kelly and Lizz encourage listeners to run the numbers and shop around — no one wants your car THAT bad.  Today’s episode is brought to you by Athletic Greens. Improve your gut health and overall energy with 75 high-quality vitamins, minerals, whole foods, and probiotics daily with just one scoop in water. INTRODUCING MR. AND MRS. ST. JOHN
2753
The newlywed St. Johns are in the house for the season finale of the Carpool podcast. Of course, a wedding recap is on the agenda. Gen Zers are unhinged about today’s millennial phrase, and Lizz and Kelly agree it was overused on the wedding weekend. The episode rounds out with a test drive and ditch the drive-through.  Wedding questions from the carpool crew reveal Lizz and Mattie’s favorite parts of the day, what went wrong, how was Kelly’s speech, and who was the most fun (hint: his wife is pregnant).  The gals share a hilarious story about Tyler’s love for our Carpool fans, which is so next level that it resulted in two Carpool listeners making a forced appearance at the wedding reception. You’ll also hear who was bridezilla, what Mattie thought about the ‘first look,’ who saved the day with their seltzers, and the one thing Kelly didn’t have on hand. The only thing close to industry news today is that the crew rode off into the sunset in the new Expedition.  The unanimous consensus from Lizz, Mattie, and Kelly is that the day was one of the best days of their lives.  ***Lizz and Mattie are now off on honeymoon in Mexico, so there will be no episode next week! The following week Kelly and Lizz will be back with two episodes a week for the brand new season.*** Today’s test drive is the Dime Perfume sample set. 7 Summer is giving popular girl in 8th grade with a bit of Victoria’s Secret, Lovely Dream is sweet and sassy, ILYSB is gushers in a bottle, and Malibu Night brings the straight-up coconut vibes.  Bubble guts, anyone? Today’s episode is brought to you by My Binto and their incredible digestive enzymes. Kelly and Lizz rave about how easy it is to message an actual health professional anytime through My Binto and how much they love their My Binto products.  Take the free My Binto quiz or talk to a qualified health professional to see what My Binto can do for you. LESS THAN ONE WEEK UNTIL WEDDING AND EVERYTHING IS OK!
2889
on Lizz’s last episode, as a bride-to-be, Kelly commits to turning down her drama, Lizz tries to keep her cool the week before her wedding, and they share a sisterly bond over their love for any recipe that calls for a stick of butter.  Kelly and Lizz try their millennial best to remember what Visco girls are and decipher the ironic from what’s genuine in the Gen Z vernacular as they define the millennial word of the day ‘and I oop.’ Round two of the (so far disappointing) Ollipops is here with a test drive of the ginger lemon, cherry vanilla, and strawberry vanilla flavors. Finally, one soda takes the cake and puts Ollipops somewhere between a seltzer water and soda pop experience.  Old wives’ tales are in the house! The gals give predicting the gender of Kelly’s baby a shot, and there’s more to come. Today, they analyze Kelly’s food cravings, hair and skin glow, and mood before pulling out a Chinese gender chart.  In the last three transactions segment, Lizz gets ready for her honeymoon with a clutch and a wifey sweatshirt, while Kelly finally feels good enough to eat her favorite salad from Chick-fil-a. Lizz is also gearing up for some video recording of the podcast episodes, and Kelly is going all-in on Hatty’s wardrobe. Industry news is some hot goss on a Volkswagen throwback, Rivian layoffs, and wholesale vehicle prices decreasing. A listener brings the Mississippi pot roast to ditch the drive-through. And the gals give a bit of parenting and tips on getting started with stocks.  Don’t miss the summer merch mentioned at the end of the episode! Grab your ‘So True, Bestie” tees here.  Today’s episode is brought to you by Athletic Greens. THE BIG ANNOUNCEMENT
2952
BIG baby news is here this week, and Lizz dives right into a preggo Q&A for Kelly. Will she find out the baby’s gender? How are the two Stumpe kiddos warming up to the news? Can the whole Stumpe family still fit in the three-bedroom house? And, of course, is the Expedition here to stay?  This week’s millennial word of the day is a Gen Z app trend called ‘Be Real.’ This French, spur-of-the-moment social media app is all the rage in the Gen Z crowd, but Kelly and Lizz are just not ready for this level of real.  Change is stressful, and the gals are torn over the new Instagram updates. The consensus? The Carpool podcast is in, and Instagram is out, but they’re still not leaving anytime soon! On this week’s test drive, Kelly and Lizz give three Ollipops flavors a shot as their public service. Let’s just say Mattie will have plenty of rejects to drink later. In industry news, Sequoia by Toyota is reporting better mpg as a hybrid, and Kelly is ready to get her hands on one to tour.  Lizz gives a listener some small business wisdom and shares her app and routine recommendations for moms who lift.  Kelly shares an absolute jaw-dropping rave over Naptime Kitchen’s creamy chicken enchiladas — a crockpot and freezer meal that had her and Tyler going back for seconds (and lunch the next day). Check out this recipe that’ll make a 9 x 13 pan for dinner and two 8 x 8 pans for the freezer! Today’s episode is brought to you by My Binto. Kelly and Lizz rave about the inositol they discovered through My Binto and how it can help reduce anxiety, support hair growth, balance blood sugar, and curb cravings. BACK FROM THE BEACH
2907
“Do you even know us?!” These two rusty gals are back from vacation, just hit 500,000 downloads of the Carpool Podcast, and want to send a huge thank you to their listeners! Lizz is getting married in two weeks and reports on the last of her dress saga. After a tiff with a disgruntled employee, a chat with the shop owner, and a few more fittings, Lizz finally has THE dress in her hands!  In the millennial word of the day segment, Kelly and Lizz admit, “Drip we are not, dry we are,” in their biker shorts and tanks.  Their most recent trip to 30A was full of chilling in the best way, minus the $14 hot dogs and chicken nuggets by the pool. A highlight of the trip that inspired today’s test drive was the completely unhinged candy store. The gals didn’t come home with sardine candy canes or hot dog cotton candies, but they are giving some Fruit Loop, Kool Aid, and Sour Patch grape gummies a try.  Next up on Kelly and Lizz’s last three debit card transactions, Kelly’s on a health kick and feeling inspired in the kitchen, Lizz flushes $58 down the drain, and Kelly tackles a home reno update.  In industry news, Rivian rolls out their first electric Amazon delivery vehicles and reports a staggering list of reservations for their new R1S SUV. The new Honda CRV stokes the Rav 4 battle and proves it’s a car to watch, which Kelly and Lizz would love to do at a Honda event (wink wink, Honda!). WELCOME TO THE BACHELORETTE SURVIVORS MEETING
2331
Kelly and Lizz have got places to go and people to marry this summer, but they’re back from ‘The Bach’ and ready to recap their weekend with their girlies on this loaded episode. Kicking the episode off today is a light hearted millennial word of the day ‘core memory.’ As in, the bachelorette weekend is, for sure, a core memory! The gals headed to their family’s lake house in the Ozarks where dad captained the boat. The 200 seltzers Kelly bought for the weekend plus a batch of the Suntrup family classic Yucca made for quite the mix of day drinking and night drinking that left Lizz yearning for her middle of the day naps.  Kelly and Lizz give a nod to the power of dressing in color schemes with your friends. Mama Kelly frets over the dangers of night swimming and brags up her morning parfait bar that was served alongside quiche and cinnamon rolls.  Bachelorette jeopardy was a huge hit and exactly zero twerking happened on the cove-out — mostly because the gals don’t know how.  Industry news is a little sad today as reports of new car prices and leases continue to rise. On the bright side, Bloomberg reports that the US has crossed the eclectic car tipping point for mass adoption with 5% of new car sales powered only by electricity.  Today’s ditch the drive through is all about Kelly’s fridge clean out. She’s normalizing everyone in the house eating different meals and using muffin tin charcuterie trays for the kids.  To wrap up the episode the gals bring another new advice column segment to answer a question from a mom from northern Michigan looking for advice on buying a car for her new teenage driver.  To share your ditch the drive through recipe with us call (959) CAR-POOL and leave us a message! ADVICE GIRLIES
2616
The gals’ brand new advice segment is HERE! But before Kelly and Lizz dish their ideas on best family cars, they’ve got a fantastic little lineup for you. Kelly gives a not-so-glam review of motherhood and hates on the summer heat. She’s also got a recap of her recent trip to Indy with the fam including her first Torchy’s Tacos experience, fun with the kids, and the most darling parks she’s ever seen.  Lizz brings a shocking and disturbing millennial word for girls that came straight from the mouth of a true Gen Z’er. It leaves Kelly and Lizz wondering…what are the Gen Z ladies calling the men?! Today’s great 8 segment flips the script from last week where Kelly and Lizz decided which of the Disney male leads would win the Hunger Games. This week, the gals are lining up Elsa, Rapunzel, Mulan, Ariel, Jasmine, Belle, Pocahontas, and Meg from Hercules.  In the show’s first ever advice segment working and pregnant with #2 mom, Angela, writes in to get Car Mom’s advice on whether she and her husband should go with a Kia Telluride or a Hyundai Palisade as their new family car. Kelly and Lizz talk about car seat placement, third rows, and three-kiddo convenience.  In industry news storage startup StowIt.com provides people a place to park their cars, boats, and RVs AirBnB style. Then, Kelly and Lizz discover the most popular vehicle in each state and which has the highest percentage of minivans on the road. Lizz brings a ditch the drive through that will help you figure out what to do with your leftover hamburger buns from dinner or a backyard barbeque.  To wrap up the show, Kelly and Lizz check in on their summer goals and talk Peloton, painting kitchens, and peach salsa.  REMINDER: Get your copy or audio of The Love Hypothesis book and join us for our summer book club! PICK-A-PRINCE
2059
This week Kelly and Lizz are spying on a couple of grant-seeking scientists…aka they’re loving the cheesy love story inside of this month’s book club book The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood.  On the docket today is a millennial phrase of the day — “It’s not that deep” — as well as a hysterical great eight, decent industry news, and a ditch the drive through coming to you from a TCP listener in Ohio.  Quick note from Kelly and Lizz: For July and August we’ll be publishing one episode per week. In September we’ll get back to two episodes per week.  Lizz did her first ad on Instagram and is taking the slow burn growth of her following day by day. She’s happy to stay behind the camera for tours and content creation, though, since Kelly is, in Lizz’s words, atrocious at holding the camera.  In the Tik Tok inspired great eight this week Kelly and Lizz decide which Disney princes would survive the Hunger Games. Featured are princes and male love interests from The Little Mermaid, Mulan, Tangled, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, Frozen, Princess and the Frog, and Sleeping Beauty. Who do the gals think can fight AND survive? In industry news, hopefully we’ve turned a corner and aren’t just headed downhill as demand numbers are slowing down a little bit. Interest rates and prices are up, some dealerships are trying to survive without much new car inventory, and companies like CarMax are seeing a decline in retail sales. Kia and Hyundai cars between 2011-2015 are being stolen everywhere after viral videos have shown how to start these cars without a key and Ford announced this week they’re no longer going to be allowing buyouts of their EV leases. The gals speculate why Ford is following Tesla’s lead.  To round out the episode Kelly and Lizz rant about Subdivisions, HOA’s, toxic neighborhood Facebook groups, and dudes on hoverboards selling bug spray at dinner time. Speaking of dinner time, this week’s ditch the drive through is a delicious and quick throw-it-together meal that is a whole-family favorite at Kylie’s home in Ohio. WEDDING DRESS NIGHTMARE
2394
Warning: Bumpy ride ahead! Lizz is back from her 10 hour drive to Dallas WITH NO DRESS. The gals share their last three debit transactions — which may just spark some controversy and reveal the next book club book. Lizz’s wildest wedding dress fears came true this week complete with a near black-out, dress that wasn’t even close to fitting, and a wedding date quickly approaching. Kelly is going hard on hyping her backup and fending off the nightmare stories from other brides. At least the duo have Lizz’s bachelorette party to look forward to in a couple of weeks! Kelly and Lizz recount their last three debit card transactions. Kelly shares her bread bagel slice secrets (is this bagel heresy?) and purchase of a new, life changing 16 slice apple slicer. Lizz’s card is still getting a wedding themed workout with her most recent purchases of new wedding shoes and a fake diamond ring for the boat ride. The millennial word of the day — ship — is here to make Kelly, Lizz, and their millennial mom listeners a little less lame. The Carpool Podcast officially ships Lizz and Mattie. In industry news, new vehicles cost more, but there’s no shortage of buyers. The average transaction price for a vehicle is now over half of the annual US median household income and Kelly’s passion for affordable family vehicles is on the rise, too. A new collab between Honda Motor Company and Sony looks like a Tesla baby, and Kia shares its EV strategy and hopes to debut eight EVs by 2029. A short and sweet ditch the drive through comes to you from Kelly’s freezer and Stauffer’s lasagna. This one’s not so quick to cook, but it definitely belongs in your back pocket as a no-brainer, family-friendly, crave-worthy dinner option. SYDNEY SLIDES INTO THE SHOW
2497
Long-lost Suntrup sis joins Lizz and Kelly today. Sydney is a 2000’s model Suntrup and brings a Gen Z flair to the show with a bit of slang, Q&A, and a college-friendly ditch the drive through. Kelly’s been practicing her maid of honor speech in the car and Sydney doles out some tips on how she can be both funny and heartfelt. Kelly deems that anything less than pure excellences will be a failure. Q&A with Sydney covers how she got started with rowing, her love affair with little sedans, and her quirky sense of style. She shares about her double major and masters degree plans and then…reveals who her favorite Suntrup sibling is. Today’s great eight is a worst eight all about what the gals hate about summer. Sweat, bugs, burns, laundry, and shaving make an appearance as Lizz, Kelly, and Sydney remember the most dreadful days of summer. In quake-worthy industry news, Toyota pushes back on criticism about their lack of electric vehicle progress and the gals love it. After all, not everyone wants to drive an EV right now. To top off this episode’s industry updates, the brand new Subaru Ascent is getting a facelift and 2.9 million Ford vehicles are recalled. A new noodle goes a long way when you want to ditch the drive through and Sydney leaves us with a pasta dinner that’s easy, spicy, and Gigi Hadid inspired. PODCAST ON FLEEK
2241
Lizz is leaving Kelly! But only for a week. The wedding is just around the corner and Lizz is making a ten hour drive for her three final dress fittings in Dallas. Only time and distance will tell if the gals can handle working remotely from each other again. What makes you more millennial than saying Bye Felicia every time you hang up the phone? Maybe debating the great eight of millennial slang — which Kelly and Lizz unapologetically do on this episode. On fleek, adulting, goals, FOMO, and can’t even all make an appearance on the list and Mattie gets called in for a tiebreaker…may the most millennial word win! Kelly and Lizz have wrangled some wild auto industry news stories for today including a report on the new all-electric Chevy Blazer, which inspires the gals to dream up an interview with Chevy's badass CEO, Mary Barra. Next, they cover a new study that suggests your car color impacts its resale value and why yellow cars come out a clear winner in the resale value category. Last, the legal battle of a Missouri woman who contracted an STD while very much ‘adulting’ in a man’s car filed claims against his auto insurance company Geico for the incident. Kelly and Lizz can’t even.  To wrap up the show, Nikki from Boston calls in with tasty summer ditch-the drive through: Burger Bowls! If you’ve gotten bored with your ground beef tacos and meatballs, this is a quick and easy take on a summer classic that’s easy to please a crowd with. HOT GIRLS WALKING
2547
Kelly and Lizz are in the chaotic throes of summer and getting their hot girl walks ON! After all, what can’t you accomplish with the right fanny pack pop-of-color in your outfit and a Spotify model walk playlist? Nothing. You’re unstoppable. In this exciting — very exciting — episode Kelly and Lizz talk summer plans, kiddo craziness, and how fast Lizz’s wedding is approaching. Another virgin-drink test drive is here as the girls try the TikTok sparkling water and balsamic vinegar trend. Does it taste like Coke? Absolutely not. Are the gals still gonna give it a go? Of course. Kelly and Lizz share their last three debit card purchases which include flower girl goods, a disappointing Target purchase, sushi, Starbucks, and shapewear. In industry news, Apple CarPlay is planning for a screen takeover and the Jeep Wrangler receives horrible crash ratings (again). The auto dealer franchise law is up for debate as new electric cars hit the market and no longer need as much dealership service. This week’s ditch the drive-through is a 00’s mall-life flashback, the O’Charley’s California Chicken Sandwich. KEEPIN' IT ONE HUNNED WITH MATTIE
2404
One hot soon-to-be-married marine joins Kelly and Lizz for the show today. Mattie and Lizz tell all about their old-fashioned first date and how Lizz hooked him with her shotgun shooting chicken arm. Lizz shares the solemn dating vow she broke for Mattie and a few other hot dating tips are dished. Mattie gives the millenial word for the day and the trio debate about age rounding errors and elders. Next up, an ICONIC test drive of MREs. These military ‘meals ready to eat’ have got 40 to 50 year expiration dates according to Mattie and there’s expert etiquette for eating them the right way. The gals give the beef stick and lemon poppy seed loaf a try and Kelly chows down on the Mattie-proclaimed pinnacle of MRE’s — the chili mac. Industry news is ‘weak as circus lemonade’ with the chip shortages still stopping up the supply chain and new cars are being delivered without upgraded features. The Car Mom gets an invite to a Rivian event … but will she go? COLESLAW LAW
2613
Is this the best episode of TCP yet? Kelly, Lizz, and their intern/sister, Grayson, agree this one is absolutely ‘the moment.’ Kelly and Lizz kick off the show enjoying their Starbucks — delivered by Gray — and rave about their current favorite drinks. One of them even tastes like Scooby Snack cookies. Uh, yum! A recap of their most recent trip to Wisconsin for the Spring Rally is up on this episode. Kelly and Lizz give the behind the scenes dirt on what it's like being female influencers in the auto industry. The great eight of barbeque sides make an appearance and Kelly goes to town on the deeper meaning of coleslaw. Lizz warns that feeding Kelly coleslaw is permission for her to mercilessly judge yours, too. This episode wraps up with a ditch the drive through that will make those barbeque sides complete: burgers! Not just *any* burgers, though, we’re talking mouth watering burgers that taste just like the one you love to bury your face in at your favorite restaurant. Today's show is sponsored by Keenz. An iced coffee, water, and three seltzers walk into a podcast episode… In this episode of ‘The Carpool Podcast’ Kelly and Lizz aren’t holding back. But, let’s be serious: do they ever? After offloading their weekend plans (family wedding: hooray!) they test drive ‘Mom Water’ a fruit water infused with vodka. Talk about a refreshing take on motherhood.. and cocktail hour! Then, they take turns guessing which car brand is responsible for which catchy slogan. From “the road will never be the same” to “let’s go places” you won't look at car ads the same way again. Then, they get deep into juicy automotive industry gossip. Find out which car manufacturers may shrink their dealer showrooms, why Rivian’s stock prices are plummeting (cough cough logistics and infrastructure) and what the real cost of electric car ownership looks like. BOOK CLUB - HOW TO STOP TIME
1787
To read or not to read? That is the question. In this Carpool Podcast book recap edition, the gals dive into the pages of their latest book: ‘How to Stop Time’ by Matt Haig. The historical fantasy novel follows protagonist Tom Hazard as he suffers from a condition that significantly delays aging. So, while Tom looks like your typical 40-year old man, he is actually 400. Tom, serious question: Can we get your skincare routine? The book is centered around Tom’s search for his daughter, Marion, who also suffers from the condition, and must conceal herself from society to survive. Talk about a page turner! Kelly and Lizz break down what they thought of this tale of time hopping, love, and history (with some unexpected drop-ins by historical figures, including William Shakespeare and F. Scott Fitzgerald).  Also, find out which character they thought was “a weenie.” In addition to their personal reviews, they cross-examine the book's success when they read Amazon reader's reviews.   The sister-hosts reveal the next book that they’ll be recapping—a New York Times bestseller and soon-to-be movie starring Daisy Edgar-Jones. follow The Carpool Podcast on IG follow Kelly on IG follow Lizz on IG  visit thecarmomofficial.com Learn more about your ad choices. 2849
In this episode of “The Carpool’ the gals go a little bit everywhere, from the nineties snack drawer to Texas to the skillet. To start, Kelly and Lizz recap their quick getaway to Austin-- complete with two kiddos, one husband, two parents, and a rowing competition. Then, they take a time machine to the 90’s with the Great Eight. Find out how turn-of-the-century snacks rank for these millennials. Fintstone’s Vitamins count as a snack, right? IYKYK.   The duo also reveals their last three transactions. Who got asked to tip on a grocery-store blueberry buy? And which transaction got a ‘stamp’ of approval? SO TRUE, BESTIE
3181
The gals are heading south! Listen up as they gear up for... drumroll please.... Austin, Texas. So, what brings them to the Lonestar state? It's not all cowboy boots and BBQ. The episode starts on a high note (technically a low note for Kelly) when she spills the tea on an unexpected technical issue during the Lexus NX 450h+ filming. Then, they dive into the Great Eight with coffee drinks and matching vibes, from the classic American diner to brunch with the girls. Pass the espresso martini, please! If you’re craving Panda Express, then this is the ‘Ditch the Drive-Through for You’. FInd out how to make fried rice that's both healthy and inexpensive. True bestie. For car and industry news: the sister-hosts explore General Motors' Car Bravo, and what it means for people in the market for a new addition to their garage. Also, find out which three detergent brands are all owned by the same parent company, and which car brands have the least amount of new inventory compared to April 2020 (there's one that's down 90% percent!) 17,000 AND COUNTING
2972
Kelly and Lizz may have wound down from the New York International Auto show, but their lives are only ramping up. Did somebody say micro-influencer? They start the episode at the (fictional) Sonic drive through when they taste-test Sonic Hard Seltzers: Original limeade, classic lemonade, lemonade, lemon, berry and cherry limeade flavors. How will they measure up to other hard seltzers the gals have tried?  The true OG listeners will know: these sisters are anything but mid and have tried a LOT. Then they dive into another new game (sorry, Great 8). They play "The Price Is Right'' on Facebook Marketplace. The sisters have to guess how much an item is listed for, and whoever is closest to the actual price wins. So, which sister picked wedding-themed items, while the other picked used car items?   They also discuss some important ‘mom’ news about Black Maternal Health Week, and unpack shocking statistics that impact black mothers’ wellbeing.  Plus, find out how TikTok is posing a threat to teenage mental health, and its impact on safety, self esteem, and risk for addiction. Then, Kelly and Lizz get back on the road when they reveal which Hyundai model was named ‘World Car of the Year’ at the New York International Auto Show. And, they talk shop about the latest electric car startup VinFast, and its *interesting* bells and whistles (or in this case, batteries). Just when you thought the episode was winding down, the hosts liven it up with some delicious food content. A ‘Carpool with Kelly and Lizz’ listener shares her layered enchilada recipe, while the sisters get creative (and healthy) with homemade ranch dip.   Today's show is sponsored by Keenz. They spill the tea about the hottest new reveals for the automotive industry, after a two year-event hiatus. But, even with the exciting showcase, the real question is: Will Kelly risk ordering a bread-sliced bagel in a Big Apple bagel shop? The hosts also share their spring bucket list items. Which sister plans to bust out paint and brushes? And who is pining to make a sweet and spicy condiment?   They get their sugar rush on when they decide which beloved Easter candy reigns supreme. SHOPPING AND BAKING AND READING AND SIMPING
4593
This episode has a little of everything: tasty treats, a dramatic novel tell-all, and a trip down Suntrup memory lane.   The gals start the episode by unraveling a childhood Easter tradition—one that was both colorful and time consuming. They also introduce a new segment: Pending, where they reveal the last three transactions they made on their debit/credit card. So, which sister put her money toward modest purchases like cups and shorts, while the other dropped a whopping $180 on a bathing suit? The hosts also try out Amaretto brownies, a (dare we say vintage) recipe from the 90's. Plus, these brownies have an even sweeter component: Kelly’s mother-in-law found this recipe when she was very pregnant with Kelly’s now husband. Turns out, eating dessert before dinner isn’t off limits on The Carpool. Liz shares her 4-ingredient dinner hit: chicken fajitas. Just don’t be surprised when your tribe becomes a simp for this recipe. The gals close one chapter and open another—literally-- at the end of this episode. They recap the fictional romance novel ‘It Ends with Us’ by Colleen Hoover--a swirling tornado of love, deceit, and family trauma. Talk about a page turner! Today's show is sponsored by Keenz. It’s a family affair! Lizz and Kelly welcome a very special guest to the show: their baby sister, Grayson. Grayson reveals what it's like being the youngest of 5, each sibling’s toxic traits (now that’s contri) and the random perks she gets for having influencer sisters. Also in this episode: The three gals have a Gen-Z/ Millenial overlap on the most popular makeup and fashion trends, from brow lamination to the middle part to butterfly clips. Oh, and don’t even get us started on the notorious waist chain…Plus, they predict which trends will be hotter than the temperatures this summer. Regardless of what is filling each sister's closet and makeup bag, there's one thing that will be filling all of their tummies:  a Reuben sandwich. Kelly shares her delicious and inexpensive recipe for this grand slam meal. And, it wouldn’t be The Carpool without some industry news. Which car manufacturer has debuted a newly designed logo? SO MANY SELTZERS, SO LITTLE TIME
3203
In this episode of THE CARPOOL, Kelly and Lizz take you on a wild ride filled with food, fun, and facts. It starts on a silly note when the sisters share what they were craving when they were sick (hint: it’s not chicken soup) and why they’re tempted to prank their partners with the ‘grocery store’ list challenge. Totally sus. Then, they start celebrating Cinco de Mayo a little early, test driving Truly Hard Seltzer Margaritas. If they lost their appetite when they were sick, they’ve definitely gotten it back now. Kelly and Lizz battle out the best way to prepare potatoes. It’s the ultimate mash-up! After they’re done hashing it out (or should we say hash-browning it out) Kelly shares a weeknight dinner idea that’s both balanced and delicious: DIY jambalaya. Pick your protein and vegetables, and watch it disappear! As for industry insights and tips: the duo reveals how to utilize eco mode to save on fuel, what your car rack could be costing you in terms of engine power, and how to ensure your tires are properly inflated. Also, find out why they’re showing some long overdue love for Mitsbushi and if Ford’s new Express Buy will stay or be an express bye. Turns out, industry knowledge isn’t the only intellectually stimulating part of this podcast. The sisters introduce a new podcast segment: Book Club. Rise and shine, Kelly and Lizz style. This morning-themed episode kicks off with a shocking confession from Kelly: Why she thinks she got cancelled for how she cuts a certain round carb. Hey, she has her reasons! The hosts take eight canned iced coffee drinks for a test drive, from Starbucks to High Brew to Coca Cola. Talk about a caffeine rush! Kelly and Lizz chat about their trip to the National Automotive Dealers Association conference in Las Vegas. Guess who will be featured speaker at the conference, teaching 300+ women how to up their sales game—just in time for Women’s History Month? The gals also share a breakfast recipe that’s as unconventional as it is delicious: an egg sandwich with (drum roll please): grape jelly. Trust us when we say: This combo won’t take an L. And it wouldn’t be The Carpool without the biggest headlines in automotive news. How is the war in Ukraine impacting the car industry, from neon gas to increased prices of aluminum?
