Description

I'm All Over the Place explores the many ways in which we strive to make our voices heard in the world. Through her reflections on her own work and her conversations with an array of cohosts, Dara Starr Tucker brings you into her journey as a singer, songwriter, social commentator and satirist, and gives you a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the art of putting yourself on the line and bringing the truth of who you are to the work you do.

Episode Date
EP 9 | Kyrie, Kanye & Dave
4081

In this episode, Dara and Greg discuss the subject of her most recent "Breakdown Video" -- the antisemitic remarks made by multiple members of the black community. What do we make of this fraught relationship? Why does antisemitism seem to be tolerated and even promoted in the Black community? Why is there such pushback when Black people attempt to discuss this subject? And why do people think you can cover the whole of human history in a 5-minute TikTok? We have questions.

EP 8 | Elvis & Cultural Appropriation
3569

Elvis is rightly considered the King of Cultural Appropriation by many. But what exactly is cultural appropriation? And how does it differ from simply appreciating another culture? These aren't just words and feelings that are thrown around lightly -- they have real meaning, and real implications for the people they impact.

In episode 8 of the "I'm All Over the Place" podcast, we do a deep dive into this topic and explore the spectrum on which cultural appropriation exists.

Eric Monte has accused Norman Lear of pilfering his work for over 40 years. He's never received justice, and went on to battle drug addiction and homelessness. In this episode, we discuss a recent episode of "The Breakdown" that I published to my TikTok and Instagram pages that details Eric Monte's accusations against Norman Lear. EP 4 | Dave Chapelle Got Jumped
2311

A special live episode of "I'm All Over the Place"! We went live on TikTok and filmed this episode to respond to the breaking news that comedian Dave Chapelle was jumped at the Hollywood Bowl. We discuss possible legal implications for Dave and his fellow comedians after their backstage retaliation, which left the attacker with a dislocated arm. And we talk about the unprecedented climate in which we live as compared with comedy's early days where comedians such as Lenny Bruce could be arrested for performing raunchy material.

We also discuss my aversion to attending a Jacob Collier show.

EP 2 | Jazz, Jokes and the Journey
4170

Dara Starr Tucker and special co-host Greg Bryant are taking a deeper look at a few of the comedians who are grabbing their attention right now – Tony Baker, KevOnStage, Jerod Carmichael, Tabitha Brown and Terrell Grice -- comedians and social media personalities who have built a career on telling their stories – the good, the bad and the ugly. These social media figures have helped to give them a sense of clarity about how they’d like to tell their stories. They’ll also talk a bit about the behind-the-scenes making of one of Dara’s more recent videos – Jazz is a 4-Letter Word. Then, in Dara’s “Finding Your Voice” segment, she discusses why many people may have difficulty finding the freedom to bring their full selves to the public sphere when it comes to establishing a social media presence. Pilot Episode -- What is, "I'm All Over the Place?"
199

I want to bring you into my process of finding my own voice through my social justice content, my commentary on music and film, my silliness and satire and my work as a singer/songwriter.

These podcasts will go deeper into the content I post online, and show you some of the "why" behind the work I do. We'll explore the topics I'm posting about more deeply, and hopefully, you'll connect with what it means to put your own voice out there for all the world to hear.

I'll be sharing some of my music and giving you a more well-rounded glimpse into all the elements that make up my creative world. If you're interested in creating a space for yourself in the world and making your voice heard, I'm glad to have you along for the ride.
