Docking 1 star bc the amt, quality and repetition of ads is awful, HOWEVER, they are only at the beginning and end of podcast so it's easy to skip them. I like the host. He asks great questions, has interesting guests & has ethics.

102: Being The Brother Of Chad Daybell | #chaddaybell #loridaybell #daybelltrial
663
Imagine. You hear of the tragic news that two children are missing. Gone, with no trace. You don't have to be related to missing children to feel a hole in your stomach and an empty feeling, wishing you could do something to have them found. Confirm they're safe. In some cases, you know of a missing child in your home state, maybe even your hometown, but still, you can't do anything to help. Only pray. But. What if the missing children were directly attached to a family member? What if it involved your older brother? Would you do everything you could to make him work with investigators to find them safe? For Chad Daybell's younger brother, this was no nightmare; this was the reality in 2020 for Matt Daybell.

95: The Murdaugh Dynasty Explained | #alexmurdaugh #murdaughtrial
1326
In the history of the Murdaugh family dynasty, there are reoccurring motifs that occur across the timeline, such as midnight trains and fatal catastrophes, which both leave behind tragedy and fortune.

Both of these things were brought to Randolph Murdaugh Sr. by trains throughout his life.

The Murdaugh family was already prosperous long before any of them became lawyers. Before going into real estate development in Beaufort and Hampton counties, Randolph's father, Josiah Putnam Murdaugh II, acquired his initial wealth in Charleston County through the phosphate mining and commercial fertilizer industries. These industries are located in Charleston County.

487
The removal of a photograph of the alleged double murderer Alex Murdaugh's grandpa from the courtroom in South Carolina where his trial began on Wednesday was a heartbreaking sign of the once-powerful family's fall from favor. The portrait had been hanging in the courtroom since the trial began.

As the opening statements were being made in the trial of his grandson in Walterboro, the Honorable Judge Clifton Newman issued an order that the portrait of the late 14th Circuit Solicitor Randolph "Buster" Murdaugh Jr. be taken down.

93: Lori Daybell Begs Court To Set Her Free! | #loridaybell #chaddaybell #daybellmurders
509
After spending 1,169 days in jail for her alleged role in the murders of her two children and the ex-wife of her husband, Tammy Daybell, Lori Vallow asked Idaho Judge Steven Boyce to dismiss her case in a motion that she filed on Thursday. Lori Vallow's motion was filed after she had spent 1,169 days in jail.

The legal team representing Vallow claims that her constitutional right to a quick trial has been breached by the court. Her murder trial, which was to be held jointly with that of her husband Chad Daybell, was scheduled to begin in 2021, but it has been postponed for a variety of reasons, including her competency evaluations and the global outbreak of coronavirus.

"The first trial setting in this instant case was for October 11, 2022, since that was within six months of April 19, 2022. The government then asked for more time and the Court granted the request and set trial for January 9, 2023. This violated her right to a speedy trial," the motion states. the motion's current states

The motion to dismiss was filed on Thursday and includes a timeline of events in Vallow's case, including her initial arrest in Hawaii in February 2020, when she was held on $5 million bond; her indictment in May 2021; her arraignment in April 2022; her first trial setting on the indictment in October 2022; her second trial setting on the indictment in January 2023; and her third trial setting on the indictment, which is scheduled for April of this year, totaling 1,169 days

In the request, Vallow's defense alleges that the government has violated several of her constitutional rights, including her right to a speedy trial and her right to be considered innocent.

83: LISTEN: Opening Arguments In Alex Murdaugh Trial | #alexmurdaugh #murdaughtrial
4225
In his opening statements, the chief prosecutor for the state, Creighton Waters, presented a sequence of events and detailed the evidence that was gathered from the night that Maggie and Paul Murdaugh were murdered.

"As if they didn't see a threat coming from their attacker," Waters added, "the evidence will show that both of the victims were shot at close range without any defensive wounds."

During the course of the trial, the jurors are going to hear about the following categories of evidence, according to Waters's description.

Waters predicted that there would be a significant amount of forensic evidence related to the investigation.

Among the items listed were remnants of gunfire and evidence from a cell phone.

When asked about the significance of the evidence obtained from the cell phone, Waters stated, "This is going to be crucial."

During the opening statements of the defense, attorney Dick Harpootlian referred to the phone records as being incomplete.

Harpootlian said that the cruel manner in which Murdaugh's wife and kid were "executed" makes it "not believable" that Murdaugh had any participation in the incident.

He said that blood would cover you from head to foot and that it would be impossible to wash it off.

Harpootlian stated that there was no blood found on Murdaugh's clothing throughout the investigation.

Harpootlian made a point to emphasize the absence of "direct evidence" by stating, "There is no eye witness."

According to Harpootlian, the presumption is that he is innocent. "Unless the state proves its case beyond a shadow of a doubt, you cannot convict him," the judge said.

81: Attorney Conflict Of Interest In Kohberger Case? | #bryankohberger #idaho4 #kohbergertrial
484
According to the records from the court and reporting from the Idaho Statesman, Bryan Kohberger's court-appointed public counsel was defending a parent of one of the four victims of the Moscow stabbing before she took on his case. Kohberger is suspected of killing all four of the victims of the Moscow stabbing. On January 5, Anne Taylor, chief of the Kootenai County Public Defender's Office, filed a notice of attorney withdrawal on behalf of the parent in Kootenai County Court. This was the same day that Kohberger made his first court appearance in Idaho, which took place in Latah County. The parent was already found guilty of unrelated criminal crimes and given a sentence. In that case, as well as another one in which the parent is facing two felony charges, the public defender's office decided to withdraw its representation in favor of a local criminal defense attorney who has no connection to either Taylor or the county's public defender's office. In the paperwork filed with the court, the new lawyer is referred to as the "conflict public defender."

76: Mad Greek Disputes Reports That Kohberger Dined There | #bryankohberger #moscowmurders #idaho4
185
The Mad Greek restaurant in Moscow, Idaho, has responded to a report in People magazine claiming that an Idaho murder suspect named Bryan Kohberger was connected to the victims of his crimes by stating that the report is "not true."

Here's the statement from the Mad Greek's Facebook page:

The news/media should really do their due diligence before running a story with completely fabricated information. This will be my only response to this story from People… It is not true.

This person who wants their 5 minutes of fame has now caused a whole bunch of extra work for myself and the investigators.

I also have not forbidden employees from speaking to reporters. We all decided collectively to support the families and not share anything that could potentially harm the investigation or cause the families more stress.

To all media/reporters/internet sleuths, etc.. please allow us to grieve the loss of our friends and co workers. This has been incredibly hard on us. With our phones ringing off the hook, reporters banging on my door at my private residence and “hunting” down employees as well as showing up constantly at the restaurant, we have not been afforded the time to grieve. Please stop calling, messaging, knocking and showing up. I personally will not be doing any interviews or entertaining wild accusations at this time. My employees also feel the same!

To all others, please don’t believe everything you read. If it’s not coming from the courts or the police, wait until it does or doesn’t before judging.

To everyone who has supported myself, my family and my employees, thank you. Your kind words and support help us get through each day while we navigate these unknown times.

Respectfully,

Jackie Fischer Mad Greek

The worker stated that there was nothing fishy about Kohberger, but that he stood out due to the fact that he had a strict vegan order and wanted to make sure the meals in his order did not come into contact with any animal products.

People magazine also said that an Instagram account that has since been deleted and appeared to belong to Kohberger tracked the victims of the stabbings in Idaho who were Mogen, Kernodle, and Kaylee Goncalves.

A senior writer for the publication People named Steve Helling stated that Kohberger messaged at least one of the female victims.

75: Coalition Formed To Oppose Overzealous Gag Order | #bryankohberger #moscowmurders #idaho4
412
A coalition consisting of twenty-two local, regional, and national news organizations has been formed with the intention of requesting that the court in the case against a man accused of killing four students at the University of Idaho reduce the scope of the gag order.

The coalition, in which The Associated Press participates, maintains that allowing the press access to law enforcement officers and other officials involved in high-stakes criminal cases provides the general public with essential background information and a deeper comprehension of how the criminal justice system functions.

In connection with the killings that occurred as a result of stabbings in Moscow, Idaho, Bryan Kohberger, age 28, has been charged with four counts of first-degree murder as well as burglary. The prosecuting attorneys have not said whether or not they intend to seek the death sentence at this time.

According to Josh Hoffner, national news director for The Associated Press, “This order is unnecessarily sweeping and broad and severely impedes the public’s understanding of a significant criminal investigation that profoundly impacted the community,”

As a result of the case's extensive media attention, the Latah County Magistrate Judge Megan Marshall issued a gag order at the beginning of this month, which forbade attorneys, law enforcement agencies, and any other parties concerned with the case from discussing it. On Thursday, she expanded the scope of the gag order, making it illegal for any attorneys representing survivors, witnesses, or family members of victims to speak or write about the case.

“There is a balance between protecting the right to a fair trial for all parties involved and the right to free expression as afforded under both the United States and Idaho Constitution,” Marshall wrote in the amended order. “To preserve the right to a fair trial some curtailment of the dissemination of information in this case is necessary and authorized under the law.”

According to Dan Shelley, president of the Radio Television Digital News Association, there are alternative means to ensure that a trial is conducted fairly. The coalition includes the national association as a member organization.

Courts all around the United States are frequently able, even in the most high-profile cases, to find methods to strike a balance between the rights of defendants and the rights of the public to have access to essential information. Shelley argued that there was no valid reason why the current court couldn't reach the same conclusion.

The Idaho Statesman, BoiseDev, KHQ in Spokane, Washington, and KTVB in Boise, Idaho are some of the news organizations who are members of the media coalition. Other news organizations that are members of the media alliance include The Seattle Times, The New York Times, and BoiseDev. In the following days, the group is planning to oppose the gag order by filing court filings in opposition to it.

As a result of such publicity, judges frequently find themselves in a difficult position as they attempt to uphold the right of the defendant to a fair trial. Courts are occasionally of the opinion that restricting the ability of persons engaged in a criminal case to discuss it and thereby controlling the flow of information around the case is an efficient strategy to reduce publicity and help protect the right to a fair trial.

On the other hand, gag orders have the potential to violate the First Amendment rights of both the general public and the individuals concerned in the case. In their capacity as watchdogs, news organizations that cover the courts are responsible for keeping the general public informed about the functioning of the legal system.

Betsy Russell, a member of the media coalition and the president of the Idaho Press Club, stated that having conversations with the officials involved in criminal cases helps journalists understand the nuances of legal arguments and the technical steps of court proceedings. This allows journalists to provide coverage that is both fair and comprehensive.

“We’re not lawyers for the most part, nor are our readers, and those explanations can help make sure that inaccurate information isn’t spread about what’s happening in our halls of justice,” Russell said.

The United States Supreme Court has determined that gag orders do infringe on the public's right to know what is going on in the nation's courtrooms. However, the high court has also stated that certain gag orders are permissible, provided that they are the least restrictive way to ensure a fair trial and that they are narrowly tailored to achieve their purpose.

The initial gag order that Marshall issued on January 3 did not include any stated reasons as to why she felt it was necessary to issue the gag order. It prohibited the parties involved in the criminal case from making any statements outside of court other than directly quoting actual court records that were filed in the case. This included investigators, law enforcement personnel, attorneys, and agents of the prosecuting attorney or defense attorney.

Notably, both the attorneys for the prosecution and the defense had submitted a paper almost two hours earlier stating that they agreed to the establishment of a gag order and desired for it to include police officers and investigators.

Kohberger's defense attorney Anne Taylor and the Latah County Prosecutor Bill Thompson said in their brief that the court “This Court has both a constitutional duty and the inherent authority to ‘minimize the effects of prejudicial pretrial publicity’ and ‘to ensure the efficacious administration of justice,’”

Marshall reinforced the prohibition in the updated gag order that was issued on Thursday. He added any attorneys who represent witnesses, victims, or family members of victims to the list of those who are prohibited from speaking.

The amended order prohibits any statement that is not a direct quote from court documents and calls out a number of types of statements that are specifically prohibited. These types of statements include “any opinion as to the merits of the case or the claims or defense of a party,”

Beginning on the 26th of June, Kohberger will have a preliminary hearing that will last for five days.

73: Kohberger Did Dine At The Mad Greek | #bryankohberger #idaho4 #moscowmurders
147
In the weeks leading up to the murders of four students at the University of Idaho in November of last year, the man who is now suspected of carrying out the murders is said to have eaten at the restaurant where two of the victims worked.

PEOPLE reports that, according to a former worker at the Mad Greek restaurant located in Moscow, Idaho, Bryan Kohberger made at least two visits to the establishment in order to get vegan pizza. At the time of the shooting, the restaurant was staffed by two of the victims, Madison Mogen and Xana Kernodle, who were both servers.

PEOPLE has also confirmed that a now-deleted account that appeared to belong to Kohberger once followed both Mogen and Kernodle on Instagram in addition to the third female murder victim, Kaylee Goncalves. It is unknown if either woman ever waited on Kohberger or if they even interacted with one another.

205
According to reporting from the New York Times, records that were revealed on Wednesday, shortly after the arrest of a student from a neighboring university in connection with the brutal death of four University of Idaho students, authorities took several things from the suspect's residence. These materials included a computer tower, potential hair strands, a disposable glove, and items with red or brown stains.

The officials stated in the paperwork supporting the search request that one of the items included a "collection of dark red" spotting and that a pillow had a "reddish/brown stain." Additionally, the investigators collected receipts, mattress covers, and dust containers from a vacuum cleaner.

68: Is This Kohberger's Connection To His Victims? | SPECIAL REPORT #bryankohberger #idahomurders #idahomurders
147
According to a source speaking to PEOPLE, in late October, an account that the authorities suspect belonged to Bryan Kohberger sent a greeting to one of the female victims.  After waiting some time without hearing back from her, he finally decided to send her many more messages.

According to the insider who spoke with People magazine, "He slid into one of the girls' DMs several times, but she did not respond. "Basically, it was just him saying, 'Hey, how are you?' But he did it again and again."

The authorities are maintaining their silence over the purported motivation behind the attack. They have not addressed the matter in a public setting regarding the connection between Kohberger and the victims. Kohberger's now-defunct Instagram account, which was examined by PEOPLE before it was removed, followed the profiles of Mogen, Gonclaves, and Kernodle, but there was no public activity on the account. PEOPLE observed the account before it was deleted.

It is unknown why Kohberger did not receive a response to his communications, but the officials believe that the victim may have been utterly unaware of their existence.

How difficult will it be to find an unbiased juror pool for this trial, especially in Moscow Idaho? Will it likely be moved?

60: LISTEN: Bryan Kohbergers Full Hearing Jan 12 | #bryankohberger #kohbergertrial #idaho4
609

This is the full audio of the Bryan Kohberger hearing held on Jan 12th.

What's Next?

Bill Thompson, the prosecutor, will have to show the magistrate judge that there is a good reason to think a crime was done and that the defendant did it.

If the judge agrees, the case will go to the 2nd District Court in Idaho. The next step would be for Kohberger to go before a district judge to be charged. Then he will be able to say how he wants to plead.

If he says he is innocent, the case will go to trial. If he admits guilt, there will be a sentencing hearing.

Thompson has not said whether or not he will ask for the death penalty for Kohberger. If he wants to do this, he must tell the court in writing no later than 60 days after Kohberger's plea.

We also discussed the discovery request issued by the defense today.

55: Bryan Kohberger Did NOT Know Victims: Goncalves Attorney | #bryankohberger #idaho4 #idahomurders
194
According to a lawyer representing one of the victims' families, the University of Idaho murder suspect Bryan Kohberger was not known to the victims or their families.

Attorney Shanon Gray, who represents the family of Goncalves, stated that "no one" knew anything about Kohberger before the murders.

"Any information any of the families gather regarding connections to any of the victims will be turned over to the Moscow Police Department," he told Fox News Digital.

According to the documents provided by the police, Kohberger, a student at the nearby Washington State University and whose campus is just about seven miles away, visited the victims' residence at least 12 times before the murders. The police claim that they could trace Kohberger's phone back to the location of the incident just a few hours after the assault.

The alleged killer of four students at the University of Idaho, Bryan Kohberger, is said to have participated in online discussion groups, according to a specific rumor that is spreading across multiple social media sites. In addition to that, he contributed to these conversations and offered a number of sound recommendations. Even going so far as to clarify that the murder weapon was a sharp knife and that the police already had the knife sheath, he did so in one of the social media posts that he shared. The information proved to be accurate in every respect. The conversation attracted some notice, and an individual who had previously worked for the FBI is of the opinion that Kohberger participated in these conversations. Jennifer Coffindaffer, a former FBI agent, has been very involved online in the investigation into the deaths of Kaylee Goncalves, Ethan Chapin, Maddie Mogen, and Xana Kernodle. She has been providing active input.

We discuss her observations and the undeniable evidence that this alias could very well have been Bryan Kohberger.

44: Judge Orders Gag Order: What It Means | SPECIAL REPORT #idahomurders
232
The court puts a gag order on the case for all involved with the case.

More on the gag order in a moment, first

Reporter Brain Entin Tweeting this:

“Moscow Police will not give specifics about Bryan Kohberger's transportation to Idaho because of security concerns. Once there – he will be served with the arrest warrant for the murders. Then the probable cause affidavit will be unsealed.

Kohberger will have an initial court appearance where a magistrate judge will explain to him his rights and the charges against him. Kohberger will not be asked his plea during this hearing. This is when a preliminary hearing is scheduled.

Based on the court orders– it does appear cameras will be allowed in the Idaho courtroom. Once back in Idaho -- we are told Kohberger will be held in the Latah County Jail.”

Then we learned of a gag order on the case, the Moscow Idaho PD posting this:

On January 3, 2023, Latah County Magistrate Judge Megan Marshall issued a nondissemination order in regard to the murder case against Bryan C. Kohberger. The order prohibits any communication by investigators, law enforcement personnel, attorneys, and agents of the prosecuting attorney or defense attorney concerning this case. A copy of the order can be found on our website. Due to this court order, the Moscow Police Department will no longer be communicating with the public or the media regarding this case.

Bryan Kohberger, waving his right of extradition, and will very soon begin his journey back to Idaho to face four charges of first-degree murder for the brutal stabbings of four college students in November on the University of Idaho Campus.

Reporter Brain Entin Tweeting this:

Bryan Kohberger waived his extradition hearing. He had to sign a waiver in court. The  judge explained to Kohberger the charges against him in Idaho and that he was voluntarily allowing authorities to transfer him to Idaho.

Kohberger told the judge he is not on any medication that would impact him making the decision. The judge said he has to be sent to Idaho within 10 days.

Kohberger came into court and made eye contact with his family sitting in the front row. He nodded at them. His mom cried and his sister comforted the mom. A deputy brought her tissues.

A representative for Kohberger is eager to get back to Idaho to be exonerated.

41: Learning How To Kill | #idahomurders
885
Today we dive deeper into the psychology and personality of alleged murderer Brian Kohberger.

Imagine being a student or currently working in the criminology world.

Can you think back to your time in school and think, wow, that one student OR PROFESSOR was acting a bit strange?

Could he or she have been going to school to prepare themselves to commit a murder?

Purely speculation, but there is talk that Kohberger’s schooling was teaching him how to become a better criminal.

How to most effectively commit a crime and get away with it.

With the information we have seen thus far, particularly the research study conducted, it’s becoming increasingly harder to think otherwise.

Then Imagine a parent’s thoughts and perspective.

You raise your child the very best you can, to be supportive of allowing them to go to school to pursue their dreams.

Only to find out they are choosing to learn more to allow themselves to commit the perfect murder.

40: Bryan Kohberger: A Quiet Loner With Rage Against Women | #idahomurders
855
Bryan Kohberger, was allegedly a quiet loner with control and OCD fixations, and unresolved anger issues who struggled to make and maintain relationships with women and people. And now, he’s being charged with first-degree murder of four Idaho college students.

According to reports, the individual suspected of murdering four students at the University of Idaho maintained a low profile in the apartment complex where he lived near Washington State University. As a result, some of his neighbors were unaware that the alleged murderer lived nearby.

According to a statement released by the school, Bryan Kohberger, 28, who was charged with four counts of first-degree murder, went back to college after the killings and completed his first semester as a doctoral student studying criminal justice. Kohberger is facing four counts of first-degree murder.

Justin Williams went on to say to FOX news that he rarely saw the person who is suspected of killing Kohberger.

"That was the only time I saw him, he went to check his mail. "Other than that, I've only seen him like twice in my entire time here, and I've lived here since July 2021," Williams said, adding that he observed "nothing remarkable" in Kohberger's conduct. Williams has lived here since 2021.

Shawn Domgaard, a PhD student at Washington State University who is 36 years old, stated that the news of the arrest just a few feet from his house is "difficult to accept."

Fox News quoted a man from Utah who is a native of the state and a father of three young children as saying, "It's just so, like I said, a high contrast to what we're used to.

Prosecutor Thompson told reporters at a press conference on Friday that additional information on the murders and the investigation that led to Kohberger's arrest will remain sealed in a probable cause affidavit until he is extradited back to Idaho. The reason for this is that Idaho state law requires the information to be kept confidential.

In Monroe County, Pennsylvania, Kohberger is being held without the possibility of bond. On January 3, he will appear before an extradition hearing.

According to one of the suspect's old friends, the criminology PhD student suspected of murdering four classmates at the University of Idaho changed into an aggressive and violent bully toward the end of high school.

Nick Mcloughlin, from Pleasant Valley, Pennsylvania, told the Daily Beast that he was shocked to find that his high school friend Bryan Christopher Kohberger was arrested on Friday in relation to the horrible slayings that took place in November.

According to Mcloughlin, the two remained close throughout their adolescent years as pals. They spent half of their days at Pleasant Valley High School and the other half attending the technical school in Monroe County for classes on how to operate with heating and air conditioning systems.

However, the relationship came to an end after Mcloughlin stated that Kohberger went through a change in personality within the course of one summer.

According to one of Kohberger's former friends, he also started taking boxing lessons and could not wait to put his newly acquired talents to use.

"He was constantly looking for a battle with somebody, and he bullied other individuals. "We started isolating him from our buddy circle because he was 100 totally a different person," Mcloughlin said, adding that the change in personality came as a complete shock to the pals and remained a mystery to them.

According to The Daily Beast, Kohberger attended Northampton Community College after graduating from Pleasant Valley High School. In 2018, he received a degree in psychology from Northampton Community College.

Kohberger maintained his position as a school security officer in the Pleasant Valley School District for a number of years until resigning from his employment there a year ago.

After that, in 2022, he attended DeSales University and earned a master of arts degree in criminal justice there.

When Kohberger was still a student at the institution, he made a post on Reddit seeking participation from former inmates in a research survey he was conducting on "how emotions and psychological traits influence decision-making when committing a crime." In the survey, he asked the criminals about the manner in which the criminals approached their victims and whether or not they had planned the crime in advance.

According to a relative, the suspect in the stabbing deaths of four University of Idaho students disturbed his family with his strange eating habits. The victims were killed when he stabbed them.

An aunt of Bryan Kohberger who is no longer related to him told The Post in an exclusive interview on Friday afternoon that her nephew's food restrictions were "very, very unusual."

"It was above and above being vegan," said the aunt, who declined to be identified but said she was previously married into the family and had been brought into the vegan lifestyle by her husband.

Because he would not consume anything previously used to prepare meat, his aunt and uncle were forced to purchase brand new cookware. He gave off the impression of having obsessive-compulsive disorder."

During a news conference held on Friday afternoon, the Chief of Police for the city of Moscow stated that detectives are still hunting for the knife that was used in the killing of four students from the University of Idaho in November.

According to the records, Kohberger was arraigned in Pennsylvania on Friday morning, and he is still being held without bond in anticipation of his extradition hearing on January 3.

The suspect has the choice to renounce their extradition rights and return voluntarily to the state of Idaho. But if he decides not to, the Moscow police will have to start the process of extradition through the governor's office, which Fry said may take some time.

Prosecutors have stated that their work is not even close to being finished despite the fact that a suspect has been charged.

“This is not the end of this investigation. In fact, this is a new beginning,” Thompson said Friday night.

According to sources within law enforcement who spoke with CNN, Bryan Kohberger DNA was found at the crime scene, and authorities were able to determine who the owner of the car was that was observed in the area where the slayings took place.

After that, the authorities found out that he had fled the area and proceeded to Pennsylvania, where an FBI surveillance team had followed him since he moved there.

Investigators from the Moscow Police Department and the Idaho State Police worked together to secure an arrest warrant for him while he was kept under surveillance by the FBI, who watched him for a period of four days.

We also discuss reporting from The Daily Beast regarding a former friend of Kohberger and his thoughts on his personality.

36: "Was Anyone Else Arrested?" Suspect Asks | #idaho4
214
Was anyone else arrested? That is the question that Bryan Christopher Kohbuerger allegedly asked as he was being arrested in Scranton Pennsylvania Friday Morning in connection with the Idaho murders according to reporter Brian Entin, Kohberger had a “quiet, blank stare”

As part of his research for both of his degrees in criminal studies, the man suspected of killing four people in Idaho went on Reddit and asked other criminals how they planned their crimes and chose their victims. His name, Bryan Kohberger.

Kohberger, who is 28 years old, is currently being held in detention while he awaits extradition from Pennsylvania to Idaho. In the early hours of Friday morning, he was taken into custody in the Poconos in connection with the terrible killings that took place on November 13. Police also seized a white Hyundai Elantra matching the description of the car that police had earlier said they were trying to locate from the scene.

The suspect, who stands 6 feet tall and weighs 185 pounds, has not yet made any remark to the public.

He was a student on the campus of Washington State University, which is only a ten-minute drive from the location where the remains of the deceased students were discovered in their shared house a month ago.

Those that are captivated with crime This individual, who is 28 years old, has an undergraduate degree and was working toward a doctorate in the fields of criminal justice and criminology.

As part of his prior undergraduate degree from De Sales, which he finished earlier this year, he questioned convicts about their offenses and how they planned to prepare for them.

Reddit was one of the places he looked for willing individuals.

"Hello, my name is Bryan, and I am inviting you to participate in a research project that seeks to understand how feelings and psychological traits influence decision-making when committing a crime." "Hello, my name is Bryan, and I am inviting you to participate in a research project that is seeking to understand how feelings and psychological traits influence decision-making

"In particular, this study attempts to comprehend the story behind your most recent criminal offense, with a focus on your thoughts and feelings throughout your experience," he added. "This study seeks to understand the story behind your most recent criminal offense." [Citation needed]

Some of the questions that were asked were as follows: "Had you planned to commit the crime before you left your house?" and "Why did you chose that victim or target above others?" as well as, "What was the very first step that you took to achieve your objective?"

Another question that was asked was, "After committing the crime, what were you thinking and feeling?"

There has been no response to the news of Kohberger's detention from either his family or the institution.

It is not clear whether he knew any of the four people who were killed on November 13, or why the police assume he is involved in the case.

According to sources within the police department, officers were keeping an eye on Kohberger and even followed him to Pennsylvania, where his family resides.

31: Will Genealogical DNA Testing Solve This Case? | #idahomurders
1708
Today we talk about Genealogical DNA Testing and how it may be used in this case.

For decades, law enforcement was unsuccessful in their search for the "Golden State Killer," who was responsible for at least 13 murders and 45 rapes across the state of California during the 1970s and 1980s. In spite of this, detectives made an attempt to revive the case in 2017. They obtained the suspect's DNA profile from a rape kit and uploaded it to GEDmatch, which is a database that compiles the findings of numerous genealogy DNA tests.

Investigators were able to identify potential relatives of the suspect based on DNA matches to the kit. They constructed a family tree through genealogical research and then sought for potential suspects who matched the DNA profile on the tree. Two months later, they compiled a list of potential candidates for the position. And in April of 2018, law enforcement officials made an arrest of Joseph DeAngelo, who later confessed to many charges of rape and murder and was ultimately sentenced to life in prison for his crimes. DNA analysis was able to solve mysteries that had baffled law enforcement for nearly half a century in a matter of weeks or months.

The effective approach that was taken in the investigation of the Golden State Killer has given rise to a new discipline: investigative genetic genealogy (IGG). According to the FBI, there have been over 250,000 unsolved killings since the 1960s, and this number continues to grow by 6,000 cases annually. Through the integration of genetic analysis and genealogical investigation, IGG is contributing to the resolution of this problem.

So how does investigative genetic genealogy work, including how it operates, what prominent companies are doing in response, and why it is causing some controversy in the community of genealogists.

30: Ride Share Driver Says He Wasn't Followed | 4 Killed For What
129
Friday, the ride-share driver who brought Maddie Mogen and Kaylee Goncalves home before they were murdered gave exclusive details about the route home in a recent conversation with a reporter for News Nation.

Forty days have gone since the deaths of the four students from the University of Idaho, and no one has been identified as a suspect in the case. The driver said to NewsNation that he goes back over the events of that night "every single day."

"I have a very good memory... There was no one following me. There was nothing strange about it. According to the driver who spoke with Alex Caprariello from NewsNation, "There was not one single weird thing about that roadway." There were no passengers in any of the vehicles that had their lights on. Nothing out of the ordinary happened that evening on Greek row. You could hear the banging coming from the fraternity homes down the block, but that's quite standard."

The driver is one of the very few people in Moscow who works for a ride-sharing company, and he claimed to have known the girls who were killed. In the past, he had driven each and every one of them home.

It would appear that the police did not contact him or attempt to locate him after the murders. However, after hearing about the murders on the news, he called the police and provided digital material to clear his identity. This information included a timed receipt from a Taco Bell.

He was never identified as a subject of interest, and he was cleared of suspicion right away.

22: How Much Evidence Has Been Lost? | 4 Killed For What?
1599
Today, we will talk about the investigation's current status with a private investigator.

We ask how much footage and evidence has been lost and what obvious places have not been examined yet by investigators that could lead to clues in the investigation.

Why did Moscow police not prioritize collecting footage in the immediate aftermath of the murders from local businesses that VERY LIKELY would have cameras on the streets?

As seen by a gas station attendant coming forward five weeks into the investigation with security cam footage that was never collected or inquired about.

21: BREAKING: Gas Station Footage Shows White Vehicle Night Of Murders | #idaho4
277
On the night of the unsolved stabbing deaths of four University of Idaho students, a clerk at a Moscow gas station spotted a white vehicle going by at 3:45 a.m. Detectives gathered eight hours of surveillance video from the business on Tuesday morning.

An overnight assistant manager informed Fox News Digital that during her downtime on the graveyard shift, she has been slowly examining the footage over the past three days, seeking for clues. She said that on the murderous night, she was not at work.

She claimed that on Monday evening, about 3 o'clock, she saw the automobile. She claimed to have taken a photo of the screen and forwarded it to a tip-collection email address set up by the police.

She claimed, requesting anonymity out of fear for her safety while the offender is still at large, "I had a weird feeling to go get on the cameras."

She remarked that the car passed by "really quickly" and pulled down a side street off of Highway 8.

Police announced last week that they were seeking to speak with anyone inside a white Hyundai Elantra who could know something about the deaths of Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Ethan Chapin, and Xana Kernodle, all 20-year-olds. At the residence, the three women shared a living space, and Chapin, who was dating Kernodle, spent the night there.

According to police, any Elantra occupant may have "critical information to share" in this instance.

Around 11 a.m. on Tuesday, investigators arrived there and took the video.

The store manager reported that the cops introduced themselves as state detectives and captured an entire shift worth of footage.

As they stepped out of the building, one answered, "Not yet," when asked if they had discovered anything significant.

According to police, a white Hyundai Elantra from 2011 to 2013 was seen close to the victims' residence around the time of the murders.

After leaving the gas station, the detectives proceeded straight to the police station, and it was still too early for them to remark on what was in the tape.

Police continue to ask for assistance from the public, according to police spokeswoman Robbie Johnson, though she was unable to immediately clarify whether the Elantra seen on the gas station's surveillance footage was the same vehicle.

She said, "We're still encouraging people to send it in if you saw anything that night that looks strange...anything you have to report, even if you don't think it's anything." "When we get that information, even if it's small, it may piece the timeline together, put those puzzle pieces together, and we get a greater, bigger picture of what was going on," the she says.

No suspects have been apprehended or made publicly known.

20: Police Captain: "We're Going to Narrow In On What Happened And Who Did It" | 4 Killed For What
771
Today marks one month since these tragic and senseless murders took place.

On the evening of November 12th, Kaylee Goncalves and Madison Mogen were at a local bar called Corner Club at 202 N. Main Street, in downtown Moscow, between 10 p.m. and 1:30 a.m. on November 13th. At approximately 1:40 a.m., Kaylee and Madison were seen on video at a local food vendor called the “Grub Truck” at 318 S. Main Street and used a private party for a ride home from downtown to arrive at their 1122 King Road residence around 1:56 a.m.

Investigators have determined that Ethan Chapin and Xana Kernodle were seen at the Sigma Chi house on the University of Idaho Campus at 735 Nez Perce Drive. At approximately 1:45 a.m., Ethan and Xana are believed to have returned to the residence at 1122 King Road. It was previously reported that Ethan resided at the home; however, it has been determined that he was only visiting.

Detectives believe that on November 12th, the two surviving roommates had also been out in the Moscow community, separately, but returned home by 1 a.m. on November 13th. The two did not wake up until later that morning.

On November 13th, the surviving roommates summoned friends to the residence because they believed one of the second-floor victims had passed out and was not waking up. At 11:58 a.m., a 911 call requested aid for an unconscious person. The call was made from one of the surviving roommates’ cell phones inside the residence. Multiple people talked with the 911 dispatcher before Moscow Police arrived at the location. Officers entered the residence and found two victims on the second floor and two victims on the third floor.

Autopsies were conducted on November 17th. The Latah County Coroner confirmed the identity of the four murdered individuals and their cause and manner of death as homicide by stabbing. The coroner stated the four victims were likely asleep, some had defensive wounds, and each was stabbed multiple times. There was no sign of sexual assault.

We also hear an update from Moscow Police Captain Roger Lanier as he reflects on the last month and where the investigation is headed.

And a pushback on reporting that there was a cutback on the number of officers on the case. Here’s police chief James Fry discussing the alleged cutback and what was to expect over the weekend during graduation.

The investigation continues with the same amount of resources. 17: Federal Marshals On The Scene? | 4 Killed For What?
1600
Friday Recap of week four.

A scream, a white Hyundai Elantra, private investigators, frustration and assurance.

Plain-clothed officers were on the scene the evening of 12/8.
We discuss who they likely are and why they may be there. Were these Federal Marshals?

Hyundai Elantra

MOSCOW, Idaho – Detectives are interested in speaking with the occupant(s) of a white 2011-2013 Hyundai Elantra, with an unknown license plate. Tips and leads have led investigators to look for additional information about a vehicle being in the immediate area of the King Street residence during the early morning hours of November 13th. Investigators believe the occupant(s) of this vehicle may have critical information to share regarding this case.+

This is not the vehicle from the body cam footage, per police.
If you know of or own a vehicle matching this description, or know of anyone who may have been driving this vehicle on the days preceding or the day of the murders, please forward that information to the Tip Line.

 Information can be submitted:

  • Tip Line: 208-883-7180

Missing Time Line

One thing still under investigation is what happened between 9 p.m. Nov. 12 and 1:45 a.m. on Nov. 13 when police believe XANA and ETHAN were at the Sigma Chi house. Police are asking anyone with information about their interactions, contacts, plans or means of travel to share that with the department.

Stalker?
Using tips and leads, investigators have identified an incident involving Kaylee at a local business, which may have been the stalker reference she made to friends and family. In mid-October, two males were seen inside a local business; they parted ways, and one male appeared to follow Kaylee inside the business and as she exited to walk toward her car. The male turned away, and it did not appear he made any contact with her. Detectives contacted both males and learned the two were attempting to meet women at the business, this was corroborated through additional investigation. Based on available information, detectives believe this was an isolated incident and not an ongoing pattern of stalking. No evidence suggests the two males were involved in the murders.

Investigators continue looking into information about Kaylee having a stalker. Information about a potential stalker or unusual occurrences should go through the Tip Line.

The dog

There have been numerous requests about the dog found at the residence on the morning of November 13th. Arriving officers entered the residence and found the deceased victims. During the search of the home, a dog was found in a room where the crimes had not been committed. Officers did not find any evidence on the dog and there was no indication the animal had entered the crime scene. The dog was taken to Animal Services and released to a responsible person.

While the dog was in the house when officers arrived, it has not been determined where the dog was physically located when the murders took place.

13: SPECIAL REPORT: Police Chief Speaks Of Personal Dedication To Case | 4 Killed For What?
236
As frustration grows in the University of Idaho Murders case from the public and the parents of Kaylee Goncalves, today we hear a candid update from the police.

Fox News Alexis McAdams spoke with the Moscow, Idaho, police chief.  James Fry, as he tries to relay his personal dedication and restore confidence in finding the murders in this horrific quadruple homicide.

He talked of his personal relationship and emotional connection to the murders.

Addressing Kristi's complaint, Fry said the department had re-interviewed some individuals up to three times, noting that a "cleared" individual can still be called back to speak with investigators if the evidence supports it.

"We always have the option of re-interviewing,"; "We've actually re-interviewed people two or three times because we'll get tips, or we'll get information that we need to verify again and sometimes we need to ask the questions just a little, bit different to ensure that we're getting the proper information to continue on with this investigation. So that happens regularly in all investigations."

Meanwhile, On Tuesday, grieving Father Steve Goncalves told Fox News Digital that he has conferred with various attorneys who could force police to divulge case data. Saying: "There are things that we can request and things we can do to get to the truth faster," he said. "You have to fill out forms to get this evidence released to you. I don't know how to do that."

Brian Entin of News Nation today spoke with Sigma Chi President Reed Ofsthun outside of the Sigma Chi house.

The house where police are focusing on the timeline between 9 pm Nov 12 and 1:45 am Nov 13th, where Ethan and Xana are believed to be at the Sigma Kai house.

WHEN ASKED IF THERE WERE CAMERAS AT THE HOUSE, THE ANSWER WAS “NOT ON THE PROPERTY”.

It has also been reported that beginning tomorrow, the Moscow, Idaho, Police Department will begin to collect and remove some of the personal belongings of the victims from the residence. These items are no longer required for the investigation and will be returned to the victims' families once they have been gathered.

Former FBI investigator Bill Daly talked to Fox News and provides an analysis of the Idaho quadruple murder case and if it is indeed a good thing that we don't have much more information in the public sphere.

Even though police cleared a man from an incident more than a month ago at a bar, was there a stalker hiding in the shadow of the lives of one or more of the victims?

We also discuss the profile of a killer. Do they feel remorse? Are they still alive? Or do they feel justified in their actions?

We also discuss the latest update as of 12/5/22 from the Moscow Police Dept.

From the police

  • There have been statements and speculation about this case, victim injuries, cause of death, evidence collection and processing, and investigative techniques. With the active criminal investigation, law enforcement has not released additional facts to the family or the public. We recognize the frustration this causes and that speculation proliferates in the absence of facts. However, we firmly believe speculation and unvetted information is a disservice to the victims, their families, and our community. The Moscow Police Department is committed to providing information whenever possible but not at the expense of compromising the investigation and prosecution.

  • Detectives continue investigating what occurred from approximately 9 p.m. on November 12th to 1:45 a.m. on November 13th, when Ethan Chapin and Xana Kernodle were believed to be at the Sigma Chi house on the University of Idaho Campus at 735 Nez Perce Drive. Any interactions, contacts, direction and method of travel, or anything abnormal could add context to what occurred.

  • Detectives continue processing and working through more than 2,645 emailed tips, 2,770 phone tips, and 1,084 digital media submissions. We believe someone has information that will add context to the picture investigators are creating of what occurred that evening. Our focus is the investigation, not the activities. Your information, whether you believe it is significant or not, might be one of the puzzle pieces that help solve these murders.

Today, we discuss the timeline and give a brief update on the current information as we know it.

Nov. 12
Ethan Chapin, 20, of Conway, Washington; Madison Mogen, 21, of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; Xana Kernodle, 20, of Avondale, Arizona; and Kaylee Goncalves, 21, of Rathdrum, Idaho, were killed.

Moscow police said Goncalves and Mogen, lifelong best friends, went to the Corner Club pub in downtown Moscow from 10 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12.

The two were filmed at Grub Truck, a neighborhood food vendor, at 1:40 a.m. and utilized a private party to get home at 1:45, authorities said. Authorities say the Grub Truck surveillance video man and the person who transported them home are not suspects.

Police said Chapin and Kernodle, who were dating, visited Sigma Chi Saturday night.

Police stated they returned home at 1:45 a.m. Chapin was sleeping over with his girlfriend.

Police said two other housemates, who survived the attack and are not suspects, went out in Moscow Saturday night and came home by 1 a.m.

Nov. 13
Moscow Mayor Art Bettge told ABC News that the four students died at the house between 3 and 4 a.m. on Nov. 13.

Police reported a dog at the home.

"Isolated, targeted attack," said Moscow Police Chief James Fry.

Police stated the two roommates slept through the murders in the basement. Police claimed the two roommates phoned friends to their house on Nov. 13 because they thought one of the second-floor victims had passed out.

Police said a roommate called 911 for an unconscious person at 11:58 a.m. Police said "multiple people talked with the 911 dispatcher."

Police reported finding four victims on the second and third floors.

Authorities stated no one at the house at the time of the 911 call committed the murders.

Police also don't think the male Goncalves and Mogen repeatedly called on Nov. 13 is involved.

November 17
Police said Nov. 17 autopsies showed all deceased were stabbed many times.

Police stated the four kids were asleep when attacked and had defensive wounds.

Police noted no sexual assault.

Nov. 28
Goncalves' father, Steve, told ABC News on Nov. 28 that the pupils died swiftly and did not bleed for hours, thus an earlier 911 call would not have saved them.

"Nobody suffered," Steve Goncalves stated.

Nov. 21
On Nov. 21, 20-year-old Ethan Chapin's family held a memorial service.

On Nov. 30, grieving family and students held a candlelight vigil at the University of Idaho.

Today we hear the frustration in the voice of Steve Goncalves, FATHER OF University of Idaho  MURDER VICTIM CASEY Goncalves WHEN ASKED ABOUT THE PROGRESS OF THE MOSCO PD AND CITY PROSECUTOR.

We also hear Steve’s opinion WHEN HE WAS FURTHER ASKED HIS OPINION ON FOX NEWS IF HE HAD ANY FEELING THERE BEING A SPECIFIC SUSPECT.

Latest from Moscow Police as of this evening. “We remain consistent in our belief that this was a targeted attack, but investigators have not concluded if the target was the residence or if it was the occupants.”

What does “Targeted” mean by FBI standards?

After being deemed a suspect “online”, Jeremy Reagan, a neighbor of the Idaho murder victims, told NewsNation’s “Banfield” that he went to the police station and offered to submit his DNA. He said he went there without being asked to because it's "easier to be proactive and just get it all out of the way."

New Details Emerge about the night of the Idaho murders and who was where a supportive father's words for an ex-boyfriend and more confusion from the police and city.

There has been much speculation about the boyfriend of Madison Mogen online since the murders took place. However, Ben Mogen, the father of Idaho murder victim Madison Mogen, spoke in support of her boyfriend Jake tonight as students waved their cell phones as cameras at a vigil for the victims.

Kaylee Goncalves’ father spoke about his daughter’s close friendship with Madison Mogen and confirmed that the two girls were murdered in the same room, in the same bed.

Earlier in the day, there were reports of the man connected with the Sept 12th incident regarding an argument between a group of people walking on the Univ of Idaho bike path and a cyclist. Reports are cyclists displayed a folding knife and scared several female students. The cyclist did in fact, turn himself in at the time; however, no charges were filed at that time. Now that there are charges, Police say there is no connection to the student murders.

And the land of confusion continues to contradict itself,

With the Police and the prosecutor saying there was an internal miscommunication in their statements over the last day. Basically, everything they’ve said.
