Okasha Kameny is an American imam, Qur’an teacher, and public speaker, best known as the Founder and CEO of Al-Hirz Institute in Texas. He is also a recognized expert in Qur’anic recitation (tajwīd), Hadith, Arabic grammar, and classical Islamic sciences. He memorised the Qur’an by age nine and later pursued eleven years of intensive study in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Sudan. During this time, he mastered major classical texts in tajwīd, tafsīr, poetry, grammar, and creed. By his teens, he was serving as a reference (marjī‘) for his teachers—able to supply Quranic verses or Hadith by hearing just a few words. His commitment earned him recognition among scholars as “Ghulam Hashimi,” likening him to a young Abdullah ibn Abbas. In his early twenties, Okasha began teaching Arabic, Qur’an, Fiqh, tafsīr, and Hadith. He served as imam at mosques in New York, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. In 2015, he founded Al-Hirz Institute to scale his teaching globally, offering online classes, radio programs, retreats, and recordings. Under his leadership, Al-Hirz has served students in over 58 countries and 600+ cities to date. He also launched INK TV in New Jersey and a sister institute in North Carolina, alongside founding Masjid Al-Wasatiyyah and its associated school in Philadelphia. Okasha Kameny travels frequently to lecture on topics such as Qur’an recitation, spiritual preparation for death, and ethical speech. His recorded lessons—including “The Ten Names of Jannah” and “Preparing for Departure”—reach a wide audience through YouTube, Halal Tube, Al-Hirz Radio, and live events. He blends traditional scholarship with modern outreach, making sacred knowledge accessible to students worldwide. Today, Okasha Kameny continues to expand Al-Hirz’s reach, shaping a generation of learners in Qur’anic sciences and spiritual refinement.
