As Carl tends to Alresca, he becomes captivated by the lead soprano, Rosetta Rosa, igniting a passionate love affair. Under Alrescas mentorship, Carl travels to Bruges, where he uncovers the tenors unsettling obsessions and is shadowed by a mysterious stranger.
