After receiving a chilling warning from an elderly desert nomad in the bustling Suq, Conan decides to spend the night at a rundown tavern in the sinister city of Zamboula, managed by the enigmatic Aram Baksh. As darkness descends, a menacing Darfarian cannibal arrives, intent on dragging Conan away for a gruesome feast. In Zamboula, the night is ruled by these cannibalistic Darfar slaves, who prey exclusively on unsuspecting travelers, leaving the citys inhabitants to cower behind locked doors. This night, however, fate intervenes when Conan encounters a frantic woman in pursuit of her deranged lover. After bravely rescuing them from the cannibals, she reveals her desperate attempt to win his heart with a love potion that instead transformed him into a raving lunatic. In exchange for his heroism, she promises Conan a reward as they plot to confront the sinister high priest behind her lovers madness.
