Euripides gripping tale, Bacchae, immerses us in the world of Dionysus, the God who arrives in Thebes to unleash madness upon those who shun his ecstatic rites. This story intertwines family drama with themes of sacrifice, as Dionysus drives his aunts to madness and lures his cousin Pentheus, disguised as a woman, to a tragic fate at the hands of his own mother. A hauntingly beautiful yet profoundly unsettling narrative that explores the depths of human nature and divinity. (Summary by Tony Addison)
