Welcome to Shadow English with May!

I'm May, an Assistant Professor of English in Japan and a passionate language learner. I speak English, Burmese, and Thai, and I'm currently learning Japanese.

While learning Japanese, I discovered that shadowing podcasts became one of the most effective ways for me to improve my listening, pronunciation, and speaking skills—especially during my daily commute.

That's why I created Shadow English with May.

Each short episode is designed to help beginner and intermediate learners improve their English naturally through listening and shadowing practice. You'll hear a slow version first, followed by a natural-speed version, along with useful vocabulary, an idiom of the day, and interesting topics about everyday life, culture, and personal growth.
