Chronicled: The History of NUFC | Episode 30: 2019-2022 From Bruce’s Maggies to the ‘NEW’ Newcastle United
2047
The final chapter of Chronicled is here. Matt Ketchell and Paul Joannou's epic 30-episode journey through the 140-year history of Newcastle United concludes in January 2022 with the club, theoretically, the richest in the world, yet staring relegation in the face. It could only happen at NUFC.

Last week's episode covered the dramatic politics of the Rafa Benitez era at Newcastle which had led us to the final chapter in the current story of the club. We pick up with Newcastle's owner scrambling to find a successor for the departed Benitez. Steve Bruce was the man the hierarchy turned to.

Joining Matt and Paul to discuss Bruce's two years at the club, and the takeover saga that overlapped this era, is someone who was at the heart of the action during this complicated, Covid-hit, period - ChronicleLive's Chief Newcastle United Writer, Lee Ryder.

Transfer deadline day update (6.30pm) - Santiago Munoz signs but can we expect anymore or have NUFC finished for the window?
1259
Hello, it's transfer deadline day!

Newcastle United have already signed Joe Willock, and Steve Bruce was hopefully of brining in at least one on loan.

Hamza Choudhury was his no.1 target but like in January - it appears Bruce may not get his man.

United have signed Santiago Munoz - a Mexican 19-year-old who joins for 18 months to go straight into the U23s but there is strong reason to belief that will be it for today.

So, where does leave Steve Bruce? Newcastle United? Ciaran Kelly and Andrew Musgrove discuss.

'The fans turned on their manager' - Magpies draw with Southampton as 'Brucey out' chants voiced

Newcastle have drawn 2-2 with Southampton.

In truth it was another poor game from the Magpies - but they thought they'd won it with Allan Saint-Maximin scoring in the 91st minute only to see James Ward-Prowse finishing from the spot.

It was another outing for VAR with Jamaal Lascelles, rightly, ruled to have fouled Adam Armstrong.

The big talking point however were the chants aimed at Steve Bruce - 'we want Brucey out' and from a large section of the fan base.

Newcastle United vs Premier League - takeover arbitration is delayed - reaction
390
Newcastle United's takeover hopes have been hit by a hammer blow after their arbitration case was pushed back until early 2022.

Both the Magpies and the Premier League agreed to the decision after the initial hope for a resolution this month was delayed due to 'issues with disclosure of evidence'.

A short United statement read: "The parties attended a hearing today in the case between Newcastle United and the Premier League.

"The main hearing of the arbitration has regrettably now been adjourned until early 2022 due to issues with the disclosure of evidence.

"The parties will be making no further comment at this time."

The news is the worst possible bulletin that the bidders could have expected.
