262 She-Hulk: Attorney at Law - Episode 3 spoiler review
1:04:45

“The People vs. Emil Blonsky” takes She-Hulk: Attorney at Law into true television comedy format with A and B stories that connect with mostly good, but sometimes mixed results. The episode is at its best with Jennifer Walters giving Emil Blonsky the fair parole hearing he deserves, while the biggest laughs come from the series trolling its trolls. Just perfect.

Ms. Marvel is “Destined” for greatness with a third episode that is even better than the fantastic first two. The mythology around Kamala Khan and her powers is getting bigger, but the emotional core of this story remains firmly rooted in family. This story has tons of heart and we love it.

“Ronin” maintains the high-quality momentum Hawkeye has been building through 5 episodes now, on our way to what should be a fantastic finale! Florence Pugh is back and as charismatic as ever as Yelena, who confronts Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) with difficult truths and questions about Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner). Partners, am I right? Another week, another stellar episode of Hawkeye as Clint “CB1” Barton and Kate Bishop continue to develop their partnership and friendship. 234 Hawkeye - Episode 3 spoiler review
1:37:52

“Echoes” is an instant classic that belongs in the conversation for the best Marvel Studios episodes on Disney+ this year. It’s hilarious. It’s action-packed. It moves like it’s being chased by the Tracksuit Mafia in a ’72 Challenger. All of that is cool enough, but it’s the pauses for the emotional, heartstring-pulling moments that make this installment one of the all-time greats.

It’s so much of what we love most about the Marvel Cinematic Universe, all rolled into a single episode and we are delighted to break it all down in our latest Hawkeye spoiler review!

231 Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer breakdown
1:22:10

Sony made a big event out of the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer premiere and for good reason. It is quite a trailer, revealing (at least) 5 villains from Spidey’s multi-era movie history that are now in the MCU. Doctor Strange seemingly offers a morally ambiguous solution, setting the stage for a philosophical, physical, and metaphysical confrontation with our friendly neighborhood hero.

We break down all that we see (and don’t see) in a trailer that made the wait until December 17 feel just a bit longer.

230 Disney+ Day reaction and Doctor Strange reshoots
1:58:51

Disney+ Day 2021 has come and gone without making nearly the impact that it could have. Fans and investors were disappointed by the lack new, concrete information about upcoming projects and when we can expect to see them. There were also plenty of repeat announcements from previous marketing events with little or nothing added. The Twitter thread presentation method also left much to be desired.

But it wasn’t all bad and our disappointment about Disney+ Day does not reflect our feelings about what will eventually come to the streaming platform from Marvel Studios. That’s just the first half hour of the show.

We’re still very, very excited about Hawkeye, Moon Knight, She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel, Echo, Ironheart, Agatha: House of Harkness, Secret Invasion, Armor Wars, The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, X-Men ’97, What If…? Season 2, Loki Season 2, Spider-Man: Freshman Year, and I Am Groot. We’ll see about Marvel Zombies.

We share our thoughts based on what we know about these projects and discuss Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness reshoots and additional photography in this episode!

228 Marvel Studios release dates, Top 5 hopes for Disney+ Day
1:13:25

Marvel Studios has updated its movie release calendar for the umpteenth time in the past 18 months. We'll have to wait a little longer to see Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness with corresponding delays to the rest of the slate. Of course, in a time when new MCU stories are in theaters or on Disney+ as frequently as we see them now, it's hard to be that mad about it.

What if Ultron won? Continuity would take a retroactive beating, that’s for sure. What we would also see, though, is a compelling story that amplifies Ultron’s threat level as he becomes aware of universes beyond his own. #212 Loki - Episode 6 spoiler review
2:01:51

Sometimes, fan theories pan out! The season finale of Loki really has changed the Marvel Cinematic Universe forever, ushering in the Marvel Cinematic Multiverse! It also delivered a new antagonist, whom we expect to see plenty of next season, and in feature films from Marvel Studios. As big as the implications may be, what makes this episode truly special is its ability to expand the serialized narrative in an intimate, emotional episode in which character is what's truly sacred.

We look at every intricate detail of what is likely Scarlett Johansson's final turn as Natasha Romanoff. It's an incredible send-off that also passes the baton to the phenomenal Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova. Director Cate Shortland has delivered an exceptional film full of raw emotion, visceral action, a unique brand of humor, and tons of heart that we find while digging through the dysfunction of Natasha's first family.

#210 Loki - Episode 5 spoiler review
2:11:03

Two words: Alligator Loki! Of course, we have many more words to say about the best episode of Loki yet. The penultimate chapter sets the stage for a grand finale as we journey into the mystery of The Void. There's a Boastful Loki, a Classic Loki, a Kid Loki, a President Loki, and the aforementioned gator. Then there's the Loki we've been following this whole series and the former Loki, Sylvie! They collide in a story that deepens our understanding of the title character and furthers the central themes of this brilliant series. All that, plus the return of Miss Minutes and a glimpse in the direction of where we'll head next! We cover it all in this spoiler review!

#209 Loki - Episode 4 spoiler review
1:22:51

The fourth episode of Loki was an absolute stunner. The emotional exploration of Loki, Sylvie, and Mobius was enough for this installment to match the previous three. Then, the last 15 minutes changed everything, with twists and turns that reset our understanding of the Time Variance Authority and the very nature of reality as they've explained (or lied about) it to us. It didn't stop there, however, as we got one of the best tags in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe!

#207 Loki episode 3 spoiler review + Shang-Chi trailer reaction
1:51:12

It's time to meet Sylvie in the third episode of Loki on Disney+! Stranded on a doomed moon, Loki and Sylvie must find a way to escape the apocalypse if they ever hope to catch up with the Time-Keepers. Speaking of the three space lizards, Sylvie knows something about the Time Variance Authority that Loki didn't, bringing everything Miss Minutes told him (and us) into question. This chapter goes big on action, but never at the expense of character, with Loki and Sylvie getting to know each other a little better so they're not just strangers on a train to Shuroo.

#206 Loki - Episode 2 spoiler review
2:18:27

The episode that was released on 6/16 just broke the MCU's 616 - the Sacred Timeline! The Variant has revealed themselves in the second episode of Loki, but the credits suggest not all is what it seems. What else is new? Meanwhile, Loki and Mobius have a couple of key chats that dig deeper into the series' larger themes about identity and free will. Who are we? Do we even have the ability to choose our own answer to that question? We can't answer those questions in a single podcast, but we can appreciate Loki's exploration of them, and we do in this podcast!

#205 Loki - Episode 1 spoiler review
1:55:36

The spoiler reviews return as we begin a brand new Marvel Studios series on Disney+! Loki starts off strong with the best premiere episode of any MCU series thus far. The God of Mischief's escape from the Battle of New York landed him in even worse trouble than he faced in the "Sacred Timeline." The Time Variance Authority doesn't mess around. Don't let the sweet Miss Minutes or disarming Mobius fool you. The TVA decides who you get to be and they have the power to keep you on the path they believe is right.

#198 The Falcon and The Winter Soldier - Episode 4 spoiler review
2:14:32

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier delivered its fourth and finest episode (so far). Does the end justify the means? That question is asked and debated several times in this installment, showing us who these characters are and what they really stand for. Sam Wilson once again proves what makes him a hero the world needs while John Walker fails to uphold the legacy of Captain America in shocking ways. We discuss the ethical questions raised by this episode, Zemo singing, the brilliance of Erin Kellyman as Karli Morgenthau, a powerful moment for Bucky, the Dora Milaje, and where the series will go from here!

#193 Marvel Studios' Assembled review, fan theories & final thoughts
1:11:30

Now that we know the whole story, it's time to see how the creators brought WandaVision to life. We review Marvel Studios' Assembled: The Making of WandaVision before looking back on the series and sharing some final thoughts (for now). This includes a look at some of the bigger fan theories that didn't pan out, like Evan Peters not being Pietro from Fox's X-Men universe, and the reaction to what the story was versus what some thought it could be. Wanda Maximoff examined her grief and her relationship with escapism. Now, we examine our own relationship with our preferred source of escapism, the MCU, and discuss not falling in love with speculation at the expense of the story being told.

Will this be the live-action Spider-Verse and include Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield? Is that something we even want? We discuss all of these questions in our latest episode!

Patrons' Choice - September 2020
16:07

Sean talks about the following discussion prompt from David:

Before I ask this series of questions, I would like to preface it by saying that I understand we are all in various stages of our grieving process for Chadwick Boseman, and so I want to be respectful of that. I hope you, Sean, and all our fellow Patrons are doing ok, and I just want to say how appreciative I am to have this community during this time to turn to for support. As such, I hope this question doesn't come off as insincere in any way, but if it does, I apologize. This is just something that came to mind recently while trying to sort through my thoughts and feelings around Boseman's passing. While we don’t yet know the fate or status of Black Panther 2, it occurred to me that before that movie is even supposed to come out, we are going to get Thor: Love and Thunder first. If speculation around that story holds up like we think it might, it’s a real possibility that cancer could play a major role, as it did in the comics. When the pandemic first started, we discussed how future movies might shy away from using viral threats as a plot point because it could end up feeling a little “too real”. Do you think the same could apply here with cancer given the tragic, real-life circumstances surrounding Boseman’s death? Should Thor handle the subject any differently now than how it might have been planning to, and how would you handle the subject of cancer in Marvel movies going forward? If cancer does end up playing a role in Thor, do you think it would be appropriate for that movie to honor Chadwick before the Black Panther franchise would have a chance to do so?

Thank you, Sean, for answering what I know is a tough question and a difficult subject to talk about, but you always handle the difficult subjects with the poise and respect they deserve, and I have no doubt this will be any different.

Born and raised in LA? If not, what brought you there?

13:37 Steven

How do you think Warner and Universal’s behavior regarding curating their library on HBO Max and Peacock have differed from Disney + so far? It seems Disney is committed to curating a complete library of their content and have ceased licensing content out to anyone. By contrast, Warner still has several Batman films and shows elsewhere, and let Harry Potter go to Peacock already. It doesn’t seem like Universal has worked to establish exclusivity or permanence for their films either, with Jurassic Park still on Netflix. Will they continue to push for both in house streaming revenue and licensing streaming revenue? Are they trying to keep both digital and physical purchases alive?

MCU Q&A - September 2020 Part 1
36:06

0:20 Jay

It seems that we are only a few months away from the Netflix marvel characters rights reverting back to Marvel outright. That being said, which character would you most like to see actually make into the MCU & how would you introduce that character? Most would probably pick Charlie Cox's Daredevil, and he is a near the top of my list as well, but i actually would love to see Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin in a Tom Holland Spider-Man movie.

7:47 Anthony

Before you get a flood of “what next?” questions regarding Black Panther after the recent passing of Chadwick Boseman, I would like to know what is you’re favorite T’Challa or Black Panther moment? I can’t think of a better way to honor his memory than speaking on positive moments in his brief time here. RIP King.

12:05 Linc

There's a lot of people who've suggested casting a black actor to play Magneto. Magneto was originally meant to be an abstract social commentary on race. Given that you no longer have the age-window that makes his Holocaust survival a possibility, I could see him as a black man coming from a different real-life crucible playing well. I'm thinking Idi Amin's Congo or Rwanda or something.  What are your thoughts on what could constitute a "good" Magneto?

19:53 Michael Weaselboy

How would you feel if Disney does not release Black Widow on Disney Plus Premier access in November?

21:29 Bryan

Other than Maria Hill, is there a character represented in the MCU you feel the MCU didn’t do as good a job as the comics have done?

24:16 Steven

Do you think Tom Holland can finish shooting Uncharted in time to start shooting Spider-Man 3 for a December 2021 release? It seems if Covid precautions lengthen the productions of movies that will push Spider-Man 3 shooting back, since they were already going to be pretty close…

28:18 Anthony

Do you think Disney would have preferred any of it’s Phase Four projects be changed from a theatrical release to a Disney+ Premium Access or Limited Series had Covid-19 come sooner? I know you spoke about projects created for the “small screen” cost less as far as production budget/marketing budget and was curious your thoughts on the matter.

31:02 Robert

If you had to plan some sessions for a Marvel Studios virtual con (outside of upcoming films and series announcements/special looks), what would they be?

31:23 Linc M

I would love to see Legion Quest, Age of Apocalypse and Nate Gray, but realise that there's a lot of foreground that needs to be covered to get there. Do you think that when Marvel Studios starts making its X-Men and mutant stories that it will attempt to retell the stories that Fox did poorly on, or do you expect them to attempt to take on largely untread stories? And since we now have a precedent of J. K. Simmons returning in an alternate universe equivalent as J. Jonah Jameson, could we see (from Legion) Dan Stevens and Harry Lloyd reprise their roles as Haller and Xavier, as the jumping off point for Legion Quest?

36:10 Brett Heier

Given that the mandalorian, and disney+ in general has gotten a lot of emmy attention recently, how likely is it that Marvel Disney+ shows get the same attention? Specifically Wandavision, just because that seems like it will be very focused on Elizabeth Olsen and her acting ability. Do you think it will get enough attention for a Lead Actress nomination?

#170 What brought Maya to the MCU?
1:01:34

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has taken us on a collective journey from one film to the next, all the way through the Infinity Saga (and it will continue beyond that). As fans, it brings us great joy to share these experiences, and yet we each have our own unique stories of how we found this franchise in the first place, and how it has moved us during the time we've spent with it.

Every fan has their story to tell and we're going to start hearing them on the podcast. We begin with Maya, who's been following the franchise since Iron Man, but felt her enthusiasm for the MCU elevated by a different Marvel Studios movie.

Open Q&A - July 2020
18:48

0:22 Kerry Vanderberg

Why don’t studios do press releases any more to make their official announcements, such as casting and so on? Why do they rely on the trades to release that information, and when did that change? I remember during the Star Wars prequel era that all announcements came directly from Starwars.com, plus all of the official announcements for the Nolan TDK trilogy usually came from WB press releases. So why did studios stop releasing their information that way?

8:15 Juice

Hey Sean, hope all is well. Haven't had too many questions lately, but I do have one for you. What exactly do you think we could expect from Warner Media/HBO in the near future? They have updated their DC Universe subscriptions (only offering a month instead of a year) and this seems like the "First Step" for them cleaning up their game. Do you think it would be beneficial to them to "divide the media" so to speak (keeping the Comics on DC Universe and keeping the Movies and Shows on HBOMAX)? Can we even expect them to know what to do at this point?

13:04 Steven

Is there any chance Mandalorian Season 2 could take Falcon and the Winter Soldier’s place in August?

15:40 Juice

Do you think there is a particular reason as to why there are no "Extras" added to Days of Future Past or Apocalypse on Disney+? Is it an oversight on their part or is there a reason for it?

1:17 Bryan

Given that the season finishes, who is your projected NBA champion?

MCU Q&A - July 2020 Part 2
21:53

0:20 Mookie Johnson

I was just thinking about how different it would be if this pandemic had come last year from a Marvel Studios perspective. We are all obviously excited about Black Widow, but I think it's fair to say we are not anticipating it as much as we were Endgame last year. The pandemic would have delayed Endgame if this had happened last year at the same time. I'm curious what your thoughts are on how the delays would have affected arguably the most anticipated theatrical release in history for both us super fans and the general public. By extension, do you still believe it would still have broken the record when it finally did release?

5:19 Juice

Having WandaVision coming soon, is there a certain way you'd like to see the Show start? I kind of want to see it Start in the Black and White aspect that I called out a while back. Do you have any ideas for how it might start, or is it just a matter of wait and see for you?

6:33 Brett Heier

Do you think that Marvel Studios will keep Ms. Marvel inhuman? And if so could this introduce the inhuman race and by extension Daisy? Perhaps as a mentor or teacher?

10:01 Jim Scroggs

Since AC/DC was a part of the Iron Man soundtrack and Tony’s character, What bands/artists would you assign to other Avengers or characters in the MCU?

11:51 Bryan

Can you give an overview of who/what the Thunderbolts are? I know it’s not a guarantee that it’s coming but with the potential inclusion of Zemo, is it a “bad guys disguised as good” like SHIELD was?

15:29 Bryan

Do you think the approach of the Disney+ shows will be essential viewing for a story perspective? Or can fans just keep seeing only movies to stay caught up from a big picture?

19:24 Michael Weaselboy

Do you think they could possibly make Flash, Norman Osborn's son??? Sure that would be a big change but you could make it fit in this universe.

0:18 Brett Heier

Do you think we will start getting full MCU Disney+ trailers soon? Disney doesn't seem to be really investing in comic-con @ home so when do you think they will start the marketing campaign like they did with The Mandalorian

5:36 Brett Heier

How likely is it that Captain Marvel shows up in Gotg 3 or in a future installment with a different version of the team?

7:36 Steven

This is a long shot, but with a Black Widow trailer on the way, could it possibly be connected to NBA players and their families getting to see Black Widow on VOD; and taking that a step further, could Disney be getting prepared to release Black Widow on VOD to the general public (except we would need to pay of course) at the same time to avoid piracy and spoilers?

13:45 Brett Heier

It feels like forever ago but the last two mcu installments had special editions released in theaters, do you think that will keep going, especially when Marvel Studios needs time to continue production on other projects?

17:50 Mike Fields

I would love to see Taika play a character in the MCU as himself.. i think he is great as Korg, and loved his goofy take in Jojo Rabbit. Any thoughts on a comic character this would fit well for?

Sean discusses the following prompt from Bryan:

In light of everything happening in the world, I would love to hear your thoughts and discussion of how you feel about pop culture icons and their being viewed as “role models” for the younger generation.

It seems to be reaching a point now where someone who will not take a stand on something is automatically viewed as against that form of thinking. I don’t want this to be politically motivated but the best example I can come up with is this: it seems that gone are the days of Michael Jordan staying out of it by stating “Republicans buy shoes, too.”

I use that example to say this: my kids are beginning to value the opinions of someone like Chris Evans or Chadwick Boseman or Brie Larson as much as they do mine. Their visibility can instantly make them someone kids look up to, whether they “choose to be a role model” or not. They look up to these actors. Is it in the nature of this time we live in that actors (and athletes for that matter) should inherently try and act as a role model for kids? Do you believe this is a wrong approach?

MCU Q&A - June 2020 Part 2
21:01

0:18 Michael Weaselboy

Do you think we will ever see Nick Fury Jr. in the MCU??

1:42 Mookie Johnson

Do you feel that Brie Larson has done a good job of portraying Carol Danvers in multiple time periods of her life (CM flashbacks, CM main time period, Endgame Start, Endgame end)? I feel that is a tremendous challenge to be given, especially since she shot the last 2 time periods first and with the least amout of time with the character.

5:44 Steven

Would you be in favor of a Marvel Studios produced animated series that is treated as canon, and fills in a time gap in the Infinity Saga, much the way Clone Wars does for the prequel trilogy? My pick would be Captain America and the Secret Avengers, picking up right after Black Widow in the timeline, and leading to Infinity War.

12:02 Linc

If you could choose 3 MCU sagas (e.g. iron man trilogy, Avengers quadrilogy, Thor trilogy, Guardians duology) to receive a (belated) Disney Gallery series, which would they be?

0:24 BrentacPrime

I know you don't watch the show but I'm curious if you have any thoughts on "Batwoman" not recasting Kate Kane after Ruby Rose left, and creating a brand new character. Personally I’m opposed as I think they are throwing out basically the entire first season.

3:08 Bryan

What is more common practice in something like a Marvel Studios or Star Wars project on how the cast/directors are paid? Do they have a flat fee or are they paid on how well a film performs?

4:40 Steven

Is it possible for a streaming service to recover from a bad launch? For instance, HBO Max definitely has room to improve, but will it be too hard to recover from a bad start? I wasn’t streaming when Netflix and Hulu first started, so I don’t remember if they had a bumpy start. By contrast, how did Disney + ensure they would have a successful launch (outside of standard connection and buffering on the first day)?

15:19 Steven

On the flip side of that: do you wonder if streaming is just moving towards recreating the cable TV experience as it becomes more likely that most streaming services will have ads or ad supported versions available?

23:32 Mookie Johnson

Do you consider Poison Ivy to be a villain?

25:54 Michael Weaselboy

Do you think Ewan Mcgrgor will be "aged up" to play Obiwan in the Obiwan series??

27:26 Steven

Pretend you have seen your last movie in a movie theater. You are preparing your home theater setup. What are the essentials, and what are some big “wishlist” items you would save up for to enhance that experience?

33:58 Bryan

Have you watched The Umbrella Academy? What did you think of it?

34:43 Anthony Lawrey

Can you divulge on the details of your Birds of Prey set visit? I remember you spoke of it being a scene that made it very clear of its R rating...just curious if you could give more details about it now.

#165 Self-reflection, learning, accountability, and growth
19:00
The Black Lives Matter movement is vital if our society is ever going to offer true equality for all. Overcoming systemic racism means examining our own complicity, regardless of our intent. In this episode, Sean Gerber looks at how fandom has contributed to systemic oppression by trying to artificially separate social commentary from entertainment in order to silence the conversations we should be having. The MCU and its fans have not been immune to this. We can and must do better if we are to say the stories and heroes of the MCU offer more than a disposable distraction from the real world. It's time for us to be true to the thematic core of the MCU. It's time to reflect, learn, hold ourselves accountable, and grow.

MCU Q&A - June 2020 Part 1
33:38

0:17 James Kaplan

Hi Sean, thanks for continuing to record great podcast episodes during a challenging time. My question relates to ‘Black Panther’ and specifically to Wakkabi and his character arc. One of the few flaws for me is how quickly he goes from being T’challa’s oldest and best friend, to switching to team Killmonger. I know he was frustrated at T’challa’s failure to capture Klaue, but the leap from that to fighting against his best friend always bothered me a little. What do you think?

4:42 Steven

Could Marvel green light a number of projects to return to shooting in July , more at the same time than usual, so they can get projects in the can before a possible 2nd wave of COVID-19 hits? The big question to me is Spider-Man 3; even with it pushed back to November 2021, it seems like starting sooner than later would be necessary to avoid further delay.

9:52 Bryan

Part 1-

Do you believe that Tony Stark’s resentment for Steve Rogers was fully based on how Howard viewed Steve?

Part 2–

At what point do you think Tony fully came around on Steve being a contemporary of his own and not just his father’s “friend” but HIS friend?

17:26 Mookie Johnson

How would you guess Star-Lord is playing music by the end of Guardians 3?

18:57 James Kaplan

In Avengers: Endgame, why does Tony seem surprised when Howard tells him his wife is expecting? Tony knows “when” he is and knows when he was born, so this shouldn’t be surprising information. Do you think there’s something else going on?

23:30 Steven

What are your hopes for a Marvel Studios/Disney Online convention now that DC’s plans have been unveiled?

MCU Q&A - May 2020 Part 2
27:23

0:20 Matt Gilbert

I am confused about how character rights work. Sony has films like Venom and Morbius with characters that were introduced in Spider-Man. Doctor Doom has battled many Marvel heroes and had his own book, but was introduced in Fantastic Four and part of that license. Black Panther was also introduced in FF, but not part of that license. Wanda and Pietro were introduced in X-Men, but were also Avengers and got to be part of the MCU. Can you clarify how all of this works?

10:56 Michael Weaselboy

What older Oscar Winner would you want to see in the MCU??

11:36 Paul Shearman

Hey Sean, hope you’re staying safe and well - thanks for all the great content lately as well!  If production restarts soon on tv and movies as expected, do you think the need to maintain a social distancing will significantly impact the look and feel? Marvel Studios are very accustomed to working with green screens and CGI and then interlace the images etc, so do you think they have an advantage over how the technology can be used to overcome the social distancing requirements? Conversely, could this also impede them, based on so many of their productions being multi-character epics with lots of interaction for fighting etc?

In Civil War, Wanda tells Clint he’s pulling his punches. Knowing how powerful Wanda is, do you think she was also pulling her punches, or was she still just learning how powerful she really is?

0:24 Giuseppe Vicaretti

Is there anything you've been pondering on lately? May not be anything Marvel Studios related. Just curious about what has been on your mind lately, if you have anything you want to vent about or inform us on?

6:55 Anthony Lawrey

Do you collect Funko Pops! and if so, do you have a favorite and why?

13:04 Giuseppe Vicaretti

How much of a long shot is it for the Movie Going Experience, to be become what it once was (I'm referring to the "Golden Age" of Hollywood)? Looking forward, How cost effective would it be if Studios do in fact release some Titles straight to VOD, but also release the "Big Blockbusters" in Theaters?

28:18 Bryan

What/who are you hoping for in the next season of The Mandalorian? I personally hope Sabine is still hanging around with Ahsoka

31:12 Terry Mortensen

What are your thoughts on what we’ve seen so far from The Batman? Do you think we could one day find Pattinson’s Batman just existing within the DCEU without worries about continuity? This seems to be how the Justice League works in comics anyway, and the Fox mutant franchises have not suffered for a lack of clear continuity.

42:23 Anthony Lawrey

How much money do studios make on dvd sales? I know in your last open podcast you spoke how most studios get 50-65% of ticket sales from theaters and I was curious if it’s the same for hard copy home releases.

46:40 Steven

Is December 16th, 2022 still likely to be a Star Wars movie?

49:12 Bryan

Why do films choose to use blue screen vs green screen? Is there a difference in how they are inserted into a film?

51:16 Giuseppe Vicaretti

Do you have a favorite shoe brand?

52:20 Bryan

I understand Joker was good. But it wasn’t great to me. Am I wrong? Maybe it’s just how it made me feel. I’m also sometimes resistant (probably to a fault) when Hollywood  and The academy tell me I should feel a certain way

59:33 Mookie Johnson

Is Joker with Bane's Venom the most fearsome villain Batman could face? Most of his villains challenge him mentally or physically. But a suped up Joker (like in the Arkham asylum game)  would challenge him both ways.

1:04:05 Giuseppe Vicaretti

This month, Disney+ has "changed things up" so to speak in releasing Prop Culture and The Big Fib (coming soon, not yet released) in the Binge Model. How are you interpreting this? Could we see more shows released in the Binge Model? I personally want the weekly release over the Binge Release, but I can see at least What If?... getting this touch. How are you interpreting this move Sean? And how do you feel about it?

1:06:48 Michael Weaselboy

Do you think we will ever get a Star Wars episode X-XII???

1:09:19 Steven

I’ll put this question in with the assumption that you record after the HBO Max launch: What are your overall thoughts on the launch, including the app’s UI and the service’s launch? If you have watched anything yet, what did you watch?

MCU Q&A - May 2020 Part 1
39:50

0:20 Bryan

Wanting to make sure I understand the Spider-Man rights correctly. Obviously, Disney could try and purchase the Spider-Man rights directly from Sony for however many billions that is. But sony could one day be bought by someone like Apple. So then the rights revert back to marvel studios for free, correct? That would explain why A) Sony hasn’t been purchased yet because Sony’s value is probably half or more of what it is without Spider-Man’s or B) why marvel studios hasn’t actively (that we know of) tried to acquire the rights to spider-man.

Do I have this all correct?

19:52 DangerNoodle

Hey Sean hope all is well. When Tony snapped in endgame and dusting Thanos and his army do you think Gamora was dusted as well? Thanks. I love the podcast.

24:30 Steven

My question is about a sequence of events at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: We see Quill give Kraglin the repaired arrow that Yondu used, and we also see Yondu “cremated” along with his fin. In a post-credit scene, we see Kraglin practicing with a fin and an arrow. If this is Yondu’s fin, does he do this before the ceremony? Or, does he find a new fin?

Follow up: do you think Kraglin had to undergo a surgery to have the fin implanted?

26:18 ChavezM77

Hey Sean! Hope all is well with you. I have been doing a MCU rewatch since I now have a sweet surround sound set up and most of the films on 4K discs. Do you think Tony would be worthy now of picking up Mjolner since he sacrificed himself?

After reading tweets from endgame watch party with the Russos/M&McF, it had me thinking that if Cap wasn’t necessarily worthy of lifting Mjolner until after him and Tony reconciled, then would Tony now be worthy after exorcising all of his demons leading up to his sacrifice? I’m talking specifically MCU.

Would love to hear your thoughts and I’m sorry if this was already asked. Thanks!

It may be too early to give any analysis on, but how do you think the human and economic impact of Covid-19 will change plans and strategies of the Big Five (plus Netflix) movie studios in terms of streaming and/or continuing to operate as usual? How do you think these economic factors will impact the decision making of “disrupters” like Apple, Amazon, Google, and Facebook in terms of making a library or studio purchase? You’ve detailed steps Disney has taken in the past to avoid being bought and how they still don’t need to necessarily seek a safety net to survive, but do Sony Entertainment and Paramount now find themselves in that situation

MCU Q&A - April 2020 Part 2
56:06

0:18 Anthony Lawrey

How is any villain not going to come across as “little league” since the Avengers have taken on the most formidable force in Thanos?

7:06 Uncanny X-Jen

Are there even still an Avengers right now?

12:15 Brett Heier

Could you see spiderman and the scarlet witch teaming up anytime soon? Both characters are around the same age, and they are both most likely going to appear in the next avengers movie as long as wanda survives ds2 and avengers 5 is the team up mentioned holland's contract. Plus, both actors have said many times that they would like to work together in a film.

15:28 Cara Sparman

Not sure if this has been asked already, but I remember you talking about how there was a potential issue with timing for Hailee Steinfeld with her current contract and the alleged Hawkeye contract - could this global timeout actually work to our advantage in terms of seeing her in Hawkeye?

21:01 Bryan L

Is it wrong to get more and more optimistic that The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will actually debut in August as get closer we get to August without a changed date? I can’t imagine it’s “bigger fish to fry” mentality because brand new Marvel content to Disney+ is is a big fish for Disney

25:57 Michael Weaselboy

Hey Sean how would you feel if the X-Men are apart of their own universe and not in the greater MCU??

27:31 TJ Ponder

Hey, Sean!

My question is about Chadwick Boseman and the Black Panther character. If my memory serves me correctly, Chadwick signed a five picture deal with Marvel, which will be completed once Black Panther 2 hits theaters. So, safely assuming that Marvel has plans for T'Challa past his second solo movie, what do you think the chances are of Chadwick signing a new deal?

Maybe it's just me, but I feel like he's kinda over playing the character already.

Chadwick aside, what are some things you'd like to see going forward in regards to the BP franchise in general?

37:56 Steven

With both rounds of release date shifts, we’ve seen MCU movies shift one slot with the exception of Black Panther 2 and now the creation of the March 2022 date for Dr. Strange 2 so Black Panther 2 can again stay at May 2022. Seeing the importance they are placing on this movie only increases my excitement for it; what do you think of the significance of Black Panther’s release date holds, and does this, in your mind, make it more likely that Doom will be the villain?

43:27 Steven

What would you say to Sam Raimi reworking Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness into a Disney Plus series? It being scheduled right in between Thor Love and Thunder and Black Panther 2 has me wondering if their plans have evolved.

48:09 Gio

Do you think there is a potential that MS again casted early if indeed Florence Pugh’s Yelena dies in BW and doesn’t continue in the MCU? She had a great 2019 and I believe she was cast right as her amazing year was starting or a bit prior to it.

52:37 Robert

I’m sure you already thought this, but after Extraction, do you think Sam Hargrave has definitely earned a spot to direct his own MCU project? If so, which character can you see him doing a project for?

Open Q&A - April 2020
46:15

0:20 Steven

You are ready to start another podcast: what is it about?

8:18 Michael Weaselboy

Do you think we will ever see a Batman Beyond movie with Michael Keaton playing old Bruce Wayne??

10:01 David Rosen

putting on your speculation goggles for a second, what do you think the impact of the covid 19 situation will have on awards season next year? with theaters closed for the near future and so many movies being postponed beyond what would be eligible for the 2021 awards, do you see them being cancelled, also pushed back to later in the year? also, what do you think happens to any award-worthy movies that were slated to appear in theaters, but were later decided to be released on VOD, without any kind of theater run. Will the usual qualifying rules be suspended for them? will the academy make exceptions this year? Again, i understand its all highly speculative right now, but I'm curious about your thoughts.

18:20 Woo S Kim

Do you think you will get the new stand and keyboard for the iPad Pro, why or why not?

19:04 Steven

What do you think has led to the dip in storytelling quality in superhero animation? It seems we have a group of classics from the 90’s: Spider-Man 94, 90’s X-Men, and Batman: The Animated Series. I listened to an interview with the creators of the X-Men series, and they talked about talking “up “ to kids instead of “down” to them. They always felt pressure to insert superficial storylines to appeal to toy lines and endorsements, but fought against that on several occasions in order to preserve creative quality. Is it really profitable for Disney/Marvel to keep putting out poor animated shows? A recent example is the cancellation of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in favor of Avengers Assemble.

27:48 Jim Scroggs

If you could have a personal one on one masterclass with one person, who would it be and why?

31:40 Anthony Lawrey

What have you been doing during a lot of your lockdown time that may be out of your ordinary?

32:42 Bryan

Are you a fan of the Star Wars animated shows?

33:39 Michael Weaselboy

What is your opinion on the Tim Burton/Joel Schumacher Batman films??

39:16 Steven

Are you looking forward to Agents of SHIELD Season 7? Any desire to go back and rewatch the series to build up to the finale? I’ve actually found it pretty daunting to try and go back through all of it.

MCU Q&A - April 2020 Part 1
34:57

0:20 Alex Klein

In Endgame, when Tony snaps and wipes out all the bad guys, do we know what his “wish” was? I think it’s assumed it’s either “kill all bad guys” or “send all bad guys back to 2014”, but could he have also included other things in his wish? I wonder if that would be explored in a future movie like Eternals or show like Loki.

5:39 Jim Scroggs

It was brought to my attention that Trent Reznor is scoring Soul from Pixar. Do you think his style of music could fit into the MCU and if so, what character or film genre could be best suited for it?

7:00 Michael Weaselboy

Do you think the next avengers team will have at least ten members, or should they keep it low at six or seven?

9:00 Steven

Could Marvel Studios work on What If remotely, and potentially release the first 10 episodes in 2020 to hold us over with all the delayed content? Can you see them hitting the ground running on any other animated series that were previously just ideas, but could become a priority in our current climate?

13:31 Steven

Follow up: do you think there was something to read into when Disney + added 90’s cartoon X-Men avatars?

19:04 Bryan

On multiple watch parties, you have said that the scene in Winter Soldier when Peggy talks about her husband in the video at the Smithsonian is not a lie. I’m always confusing myself with timelines after Endgame but can you explain what you mean here? Is Peggy married to a completely different person in Winter Soldier? Sorry, I’m a little slow....

29:24 Steven

What would you like to see from Okoye in the future besides supporting character in Black Panther sequels? Looking at posters for Endgame, she was one of 12 Avengers displayed. I keep thinking it was a missed opportunity to not have her on the Time Heist. I really loved her dialogue with Natasha and Wanda in Infinity War, and they established her in the “dusting “ scene as a key person left behind (as she reaches for T’Challa).

#160 What should Disney do with Black Widow?
1:31:22

Disney and Marvel Studios, as of this moment, are still planning to release Black Widow in theaters. That's the plan right now, but plans always have the potential to change. This week, we explore the different factors Disney may look at and how VOD and Disney+ could, at some point, become a more attractive option, even for a film set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We also look at how Marvel Studios could use Disney+ to have its own virtual Hall H panels without San Diego Comic-Con.

Sean discusses the follow topic from Steven:

In keeping with the recent theme of being thankful and sharing fond memories, could you do a show going in depth on what you are thankful for and the positives of the Fox X-Men franchise? It is a franchise that you’ve discussed often and even did a bit of a retrospective on during the Dark Phoenix review. But lately I’ve really enjoyed the Marvelous Memories series on the Bugle, and I know we all have some great memories of this series, which helped kick of the modern superhero era!

MCU Q&A - March 2020 Part 2
33:16

0:19 Linc M

Do we know anything about any Celestial castings? I know the cast is already full to the brim, but it'd be great to know if they intend on giving literal voice to the Celestials too?

2:23 Rich Catarino

If Ego was a celestial is it possible he is the severed head from knowhere? Do celestials even have brains in the comics?

5:22 LincM

Given Wandavision is said to have wrapped filming, is the crew in a position to complete the series by collaborating and working remotely? I don't know enough about the film and TV industry to know what the demand of people actually being together for pre- or post-production is, versus during the filming phase where there's an obvious need for everybody to be huddled up on either side of the camera.

10:05 Woo S Kim

I want to preface this question, by stating this is not the most important thing in terms of COVID-19, but do you believe with COVID-19 being what it is, this will give the opportunity for Sam Raimi and Marvel Studios to make "Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness" much more of Raimi's film than Scott Derrickson's film, does that make sense?

13:04 Mookie Johnson

What is your best guess as to who Sam Wilson Captain America will face in his first MCU movie? I'm excited about the possibility for it being the serpent Society given his tangle with them in the comics and the fact that Marvel temporarily had them be an opponent for Steve Rogers by title in the MCU.

14:35 Michael Weaselboy

Regarding J. Jonah Jameson in Spider-Man 3, how would you feel if they only showed him during the Daily Bugle videos and nothing else?? Like only show him talking about Spider-Man but do not show what he is like outside of that like Raimi films did.

15:40 David Rosen

What top three moments from the entire MCU do you wish you could relive in the theater for the first time?

25:03 Robert Reineke

Hi, Sean. Major events affect the stories we tell and the stories we seek out. 9/11 is at least partly attributed with a seeking out of escapism and tales of good vs. evil such as Spider-Man and Lord of the Rings. It's perhaps early to speculate, but any thoughts on what the lessons of the coronavirus pandemic might be and how it may be reflected in pop culture, including the MCU, moving forward?

Open Q&A - March 2020
48:39

0:18 Giuseppe Vicaretti

If you had to take over the life of one sitcom character, who would it be?

2:43 Woo S Kim

What was the most difficult film to wait out your NDA, because you wanted to talk about a film, that you were negative or had positive thoughts about?

8:44 Rich Catarino

What sport are you passionate about and why? I love watching and playing soccer but I don’t follow a particular club. I’ll watch football but again I don’t follow any particular team. Just can’t connect to it like I do comics/movies/cartoons.

18:08 Steven

Do you think it would be smart for NBCUniversal to put heavier emphasis on their DreamWorks and Illumination properties when they launch Peacock? This seems like a big advantage over Warner and CBS, but their emphasis seems to be on their old and new comedy shows.

20:06 Giuseppe Vicaretti

I dont know if this has been asked already in the past, I cant really remember. Are you a Doughnut guy or a Muffin guy? Also, being such an incredibly hard worker with the Show, and really keeping strong with your routine, I'd like to know how much of a factor coffee plays in your daily life? If it's not coffee (or not just coffee) what do you do to keep yourself fit, healthy, but also focused on everything that you need to be focused on?

25:11 David Rosen

This a follow up question stemming from the most recent Off-Topic episode: As a child of the 80s and 90s, whenever I heard that something was going direct to home video, it was usually a sign that it was either hastily made, wasn't a film that a studio believed in, wasn't very good, or for whatever other reason, just wasn't really suited for a wide-release in theaters (there are plenty of old Disney sequels that come to mind). With the streaming-era in full swing, seeing more and more movies go direct to streaming is going to become part of the norm in the entertainment world (if it isn't already). With the children of the 80s and 90s now being adults, do you think this is a perception that studios are or should be worried about? What do you see as the main differences between the direct to home video movies of the 80s and 90s and the 21st century movies that will go direct to streaming that won't make audiences think that when a movie doesn't get a theater release, it means there's a lack of quality?

28:12 Giuseppe Vicaretti

Are you a Doctor Who fan?

29:06 Rich Catarino

Who’s your favorite Batman villain?

30:13 Jim Scroggs

Do film studios have insurance policies in place for epidemics or pandemics?

34:08 Steven

What are you most excited for on HBO Max? What would be your first nostalgia watch on the service?

36:38 David Rosen

As pretty much all the major studios, especially Disney, will be in a different place monetarily from where they were when the whole corona virus situation started, do you think that could change the budgetary decisions that are made, including possibly how much studios are willing to pay actors, when things get back to normal?

45:48 Bryan R L

What else are you watching? I watched all 8 episodes of The Witcher and I don’t even know why. It was fine. But it wasn’t to me what it is to others. I can only rewatch my favorite comedies so many times before wanting something new no more how much of a genius Mike Schur is.

#158 Black Widow delayed and all Marvel Studios productions on hold due to coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak
46:21
Disney and Marvel Studios have pulled Black Widow from its May 1 release date and suspended all active productions due to the outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19). These include Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, WandaVision, and Loki right now, but even more upcoming productions could be impacted. Obviously, none of these impacts are of primary concern with respect to COVID-19, but they are signs of how our way of life has changed for the time being and it's okay for fans to feel disappointed. This news, of course, is relevant to this podcast, so host Sean Gerber delivers his full analysis of these stories and more in this episode.

MCU Q&A - March 2020 Part 1
50:40

0:19 Richard Catarino

What’s your favorite costume in the MCU and why? Mine is Captain America’s “Avengers: Endgame” suit because I think the scales on it really make it pop. Seems to be a good balance of practical and flashy.

2:53 Giuseppe Vicaretti

Really not sure if we, or you, have ever gone in depth with this, but.... Knowing how much we all have a general "want" for Sam Rockwell to comeback in his role as Justin Hammer, out of pure speculation, how would you want to incorporate him into the upcoming stories we are about to see in this next phase?

7:49 Linc

Who are 3 underutilised characters you'd like to see made more use of, and why? Knowing the slate ahead in cinema and on Disney+, would there be natural spots to include them, like Zemo in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, or would you prefer they be surprising, like Darcy showing up in Wandavision?

16:01 Woo S Kim

Is there any MCU film's Box Office you were surprised and or let down that the film didn't make more then it probably should have, for example, I thought "Captain America: The Winter Solider" should have made more cash than it did, not saying the Box Office was awful far from it, but I thought it deserved to make a Billion Dollars, what say you Sean?

20:42 Mike Fields

For the sake of problem solving - Maybe they should consider a paid Disney Plus realease with a simultaneous theatre release.  Say $39 (roughly the cost of 3 tix).  That way it can offset amounts lost for theatres closed or people who are scared to go to theatres.  I think this could hurt marvel the most due to continuity and dependency of other films/shows. May truly need to think outside the box if the coronavirus continues to spread.  Lots of details to iron and not really in line with the disney+ model, but anyone think its possible?

30:03 Matt Gilbert

Did Thanos snap out half of The Eternals? Perhaps the Infinity Stones made him powerful enough to overcome the mandate of The Celestials? Might their blip-back be the basis for their coming out of hiding?

32:53 Linc

How long do you think the MCU will keep going without having to recast the original members? Given there's enough material from Marvel to not have to revisit Tony and Steve for a while, especially now that they have the Fox priorities back. Do you think audience demand for interactions between Steve and Tony with the forthcoming Eternals, mutants and first family introductions could accelerate their return or a recasting? I can't help but to think audiences would be disappointed if they bring them back with different actors in the roles.

40:52 Bryan R L

I think we call can agree that the outside world, though they are catching up, doesn’t show the love and don’t value Kevin Feige as much as he deserves. However, on the flip side, people “in the know” like all us- do we give Feige TOO MUCH credit and not enough to his peers and directors?

45:24 Anthony Lawrey

IF Black Widow was postponed, do you think that would be a positive or negative thing for Cate Shortland? I’d imagine when you make a film you always wonder “what if I did this instead?” so I’m curious if it would be something where she’s glad she has more time in the editing room or if it would be a bad thing for her to worry about what could have been. Thoughts?

We're back to our "Expanding the Universe" series with perhaps Marvel Studios' most intriguing Phase Four project, WandaVision. The upcoming Disney+ series will showcase Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) as the Scarlet Witch while also giving us another look at Vision (Paul Bettany) after he died in Avengers: Infinity War. Is he alive again, or only in Wanda's mind? What exactly is a half-sitcom, half-MCU epic? Is Wanda the source of these sitcom-influenced realities? If so, is she generating them willingly? MCU Q&A - February 2020 Part 2
28:22

0:20 Amazin Asian

Now that the House of X and Powers of X limited series have been completed, how do you see ideas from those being used to introduce the X-Men and mutants into the MCU? Do you think it'll just be select ideas like the nation of Krakoa and the gifts that it can bestow to humankind, or something more than that?

5:38 Matt Gilbert

It seems clear to me that Bucky knew that he would not see Steve again as Steve left to return the infinity stones, as evidenced by the line "I'll miss you buddy" and other moments in that scene.  If you agree this is true, when could Steve have possibly clued in Bucky?

9:07 Steven

It seems like Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, Moon Knight, and Hawkeye could all be going into production this Summer and/or this Fall. Do you think this approach will lead to a large number of Marvel Series being released from August to December of 2021, or are they stockpiling a little bit so that they know what they can have ready for early 2022?

15:19 Brett Heier

Since Sam Rami is directing DS2, do you think it is possible he directs the final episode of Wandavision? And if not Rami, maybe Scott Derrickson since he is still an Executive Producer on Doctor Strange? I think this would be a good way to tie the two together.

18:24 Paul Shearman

Hey Sean. Do you expect that we will get ‘The Art Of’ books for the Disney+ Marvel shows?  I know you’ll be hoping so (just like me)! Thanks,  Paul.

20:00 Richard Catarino

What are your thoughts on WandaVision? Any chance SW and V are trapped in MojoWorld and that Mojo is the main villain of the series?

23:33 Adam Nigh

I'm interested in Talos's daughter in Captain Marvel. I feel like they were setting her up to be someone important, especially when Monica Rambeaux tells her to never change her eyes. That seems significant. Do you have any theories about who she is? Do the comics develop that? My wife's theory is that she is Nebula. The age lines up about right and if that were true, with her totally replaced mechanical body, it makes that line about her eyes really depressing. Do you think that holds up?

26:12 Matt Gilbert

Do you suppose that Steve Rogers would really go back to 2012, restore the Mind Stone to Loki's scepter and turn it over to HYDRA when the chance to use it to restore the Vision back to life after the events of Infinity War is so tantalizing? Imagine going back to Wakanda 2017, bundling it up with Vision's body, and storing it away where Shuri would be sure to find it upon blipping back to life. What would you do?

2:20 Woo S Kim

I need to be clear, I am only speaking for myself, lost interest in DC Comics (as far as the books are concerned) after The New 52, what are your general thoughts of The New 52, did you enjoy it, if you did, what are your favourite titles from that run?  I really liked Shazam, Green Arrow, Batman, and Superman, what say you Sean?

4:57 Steven

Looking at the Big Five remaining movie studios; what are 3-5 pillars that these studios need to establish in order to “last”?

24:14 Woo S Kim

Thoughts on the XFL?

24:42 Woo S Kim

I want your thoughts on this, I have been thinking about this off and on for years now, this statement comes up on the internet often in regards to Marvel Studios, the SUMC, superhero stuff in general, "Support  all superhero adaptions if you love superheroes."  Firstly, I don't think it's awful that I don't want to support the SUMC or that I want Sony Pictures to lose the rights to Spider-Man, now I don't want to see people lose their jobs or anything of that nature, I just feel that I don't have to support anything I don't want too, especially in regards to my entertainment.  I want the SUMC to fail, if it does, there is a better chance Spidey stays in the MCU, I can help with this, if I don't pay to see those films.  Now, I shouldn't tell other people and or peer pressure other people to follow suit, but I don't believe what I choose to do is incorrect, especially when people like Tom Rothman only see the base value of Spider-Man as a means to make money money anything more, nothing less.  To my original point, people should support everything involving superhero films no matter who is making them, isn't that ridiculous and silly, that's like saying I love British Rock Bands, so I should go to Target and clear out their British Rock CD Collection to prove my love for British Rock, am I off base, in my thinking, what say you, Sean?

30:27 Steven

Jumping from the last question, what impact do you think the success or failure of Bloodshot will have on Sony? Would having the ability to establish their Valient Universe make them less dependent on Spidey, or strengthen them as a Studio overall, making them less likely to sell (studio or Spidey rights).

MCU Q&A - February 2020 Part 1
27:48

0:58 Paul Shearman

I enjoyed your conversation on a recent Bugle about Marvel Studios meeting with some different directors for some general discussion, so my question is based around this. Do you think Kevin Feige actually watches lots of other genre movies himself to know all about these up and coming directors for them to end up on Marvel’s radar, or is it the whole of the Marvel Studios parliament (for example) that point each other in the direction of potential talented storytellers they should be checking out?  There’s only 24 hours in a day (you’ve talked about Kevin needing a Time Stone before of course!) so I’m always curious as to how he finds the time in the day to not only be on top of his own studios considerable output, but also have time to scope out the work of other directors. Thanks in advance as always!

Do you think there's a reason Disney+ didn't choose to use `What If...` footage in their Superbowl/big game peek?

8:58 Adam Nigh

I love this podcast and listen to it FAR more than anything else on my commutes. Thank you! The Loki synopsis places it after the events of Endgame. Do you think that means after the 2023 events of Endgame, or after the 2012 events of Endgame? (BTW, my last name rhymes with high - you were unsure on the last episode).

12:35 Paul Shearman

What if the Wandavision plot ends up being a ‘rug pull’ and it’s Vision imagining this reality? Maybe it’s taking place whilst someone like Shuri is trying to rebuild his ‘complex network’ (to quote Banner) - and it’s his desire for a ‘normal’ human existence that is creating this reality in his mind?  I’m not quite prepared to ‘keep the receipt’ on this conjecture - it seems far more likely it’s Wanda’s doing - but Marvel Studios have an awesome track record of misdirects so it could be possible. Thoughts?

I like the theory that Paul has suggested.  But to piggyback off that theory, where has Vision’s body been for the last 5 years?  We know Shuri dusted so she would not have been able to work on Vision during the blip.  Did the survivors recover him and store him somewhere in hopes that they could one day bring him back?  Would they have even thought to do so after seeing half of all living things vanish?

Do you think Taskmaster's shield will be made of Osmium, like in the comics, or will they simplify it by making it either vibranium, or another metal?

21:55 Adam Nigh

Watching Sam throw Cap's shield has me wondering if he is still just regular Sam Wilson or will he get some kind of super soldier serum?

25:31 Mookie Johnson

Did it seem to you that Taskmaster had the same magnetic tech that Cap had in Age of Ultron?

Patrons’ Choice - January 2020
54:04

Sean responds to the following prompt from Steven:

I recently watched a doc on Amazon Prime called “Rise of the Superheroes”, suggested by another Patron member. In it, they do a nice job of recounting a lot of the history of Superheroes on film, both DC and Marvel. I especially found interesting the unique importance that Batman (89), Batman and Robin (97), Blade (98), X-Men (00), and Spider-Man (02) all had for varying reasons. Here is my proposal for this month’s show: In a condensed version of “Road to Infinity War”, could you talk about your experiences with and your perception of Superheroes on film from 1997 to 2008 that sort of put us on the “Road to Iron Man (08)”. In addition, what do you think are some specific things Keven Feige saw about Superheroes on film from 1997 to 2007 that helped shape the MCU?
