What you will learn about 3 tips to make intuitive eating work for you:

  1. It's ok if you enjoy food, the weight can still come off! The key is eating when hungry and stopping at enough.
  2. Things will change often. What worked one week might not work the next week. Flexibility is key.
  3. While others can inspire you, ultimately you will need to figure out what works for you.

Weight Loss Success Story: Monica
1918

Tune in today to hear how Monica lost 47lbs over 6 months, in her 60s - while healing from an ankle injury to boot! She’s a living example that your age doesn’t automatically mean it’s impossible to lose weight. In this episode Monica talks about how she had tried all the diets before, and despite eating what she thought were “good” healthy foods her weight was not coming down. Over the last 6 months she learned that it had little to do with the food, and that there was no such thing as good and bad foods. Once she released her old diet beliefs and changed her mindset, the weight shifted.

Decreasing Nighttime Stress Eating
1501

Join coach Dr.Matthea as she talks today about nighttime stress eating and how to overcome it. First, she talks about how to actually meet yourself where you are at. To make the initial steps realistic. And next how to actually get what you need, not the food.

She talks about breaking the stress cycle at the end of the day! Here are notes from the book Burnout The Secret to Unlocking The Stress Cycle to read more.

7 things that can complete the stress cycle:
1) Exercise- ex. dance, or tense up muscle for a few seconds , ANY movement of any kind
2) Breathing- deep breath in and out, down regulates nervous system
3) Positive social interaction- natural inclination to connect with others tells our body we are safe
4) Laughter- belly laughter that takes over your body!
5) Affection- for example a 20 second hug (hugging until relaxed)
6) Crying
7) Creative expression ("Take your broken heart and make it into art" -Fisher)

Just a few natural pleasures to enjoy: nature, hygiene, physical activity, human connection- relationships and intimate, accomplishments- what else can you think of?

Journaling/end of day prompts for stress eating:
1) What do I really need right now
2) What would be the best choice in this moment?
3) What decision right now would I be proud of tomorrow morning?

Making weight loss easy: 15 ways to get started today
2002

If you are feeling stuck and like it’s too hard to do weight loss and all the other things you’re responsible for in life, then this week’s episode is for you. Tune in as Keri shares 15 easy strategies that will get you started on your journey to lifelong weight loss. Choose just one, practice it for a few weeks then add in another one!

  1. Leave one bite on your plate at each meal.
  2. Eat the healthiest food options on your plate first.
  3. Balance out sweets and carbs with protein and healthy fats.
  4. Focus on consistently improving just one of your daily meals (e.g. breakfast).
  5. Commit to just taking your measurements regularly: weighing yourself, taking your measurements, or assessing your dress size.
  6. Crowd out the less healthy food choices - fill up on the greens, veggies, healthy fats, and proteins.
  7. Freeze your leftovers and watch just how much accumulates.
  8. Commit to 5 more minutes of movement every day.
  9. Commit to doing just one thing every day that makes you look and feel great.
  10. Eat an extra portion of veggies every day.
  11. Pause halfway through your meal and let your food settle for 10 minutes, then return and eat if you are genuinely hungry.
  12. Substitute and incrementally upgrade the quality of your snacks. EG milk chocolate > dark chocolate > raw chocolate > cacao and almond balls > apple and nuts > managing the urge without eating.
  13. Give yourself permission to eat the foods you crave.
  14. Declutter a small space every day (especially the kitchen)!
  15. Pause - put some space between a food craving and eating.

Seven Steps to Life Long Weight Loss
1597

In this episode we're speaking about the 7 key things that will help you to make your weight loss stick for life. Tune in to hear more about:

  1. Do things you’re happy to do forever.
  2. Keep it simple. Consider what you’re eating and doing now and make little tweaks that are in alignment with your health goals.
  3. Eat when you’re hungry and stop when you’re satisfied.
  4. Plan every day for success. There’s a famous saying: those who don’t plan, plan to fail.
  5. Feel your feelings instead of eating them (tip: try EFT tapping to release them!).
  6. Take just one tiny step at a time. When you focus on a massive goal it can feel daunting and overwhelming.
  7. Practice compassion and self-love every day. Get out of the shame and guilt, and beating yourself up.

Transform your kitchen for success
1212

It’s easier to prepare healthy meals in an ordered space. If you’re having to hunt around for ingredients, or a certain pan to cook, this could trigger you to go for an ‘easier’ (and possibly unhealthier) option at that moment.

Having the healthy foods in a place that you can see them will remind you to eat them, and keep you laser-focused on your health goals.

Tune in to hear our tips for setting your kitchen up for success. You'll learn:

  • How to declutter your kitchen and organise the space to be distraction-free
  • Things to get to help you prepare and store your food
  • How to arrange distracting foods your likely to overeat so you're less likely to be tempted by them

Choosing a plan for long term weight loss
867

Have you been trying all the diets but not found the one that works for you yet?

Many of us have been looking for the answers outside of ourselves - so we try diets like keto, Atkins or paleo. The problem is when things seem to stop working and it's not our own plan it's harder to tweak to make it work for in our individual life.

In this episode you'll learn about:

  • how to create an action plan for long term weight loss without counting calories, weighing or analysing macros
  • how to eat to balance your hunger hormones to supercharge weight loss
  • the role of hormones in weight loss: insulin, ghrelin and leptin
  • the benefits of eating unprocessed natural state foods
  • how balancing your hormones also balances your hunger signals and the food chatter in your brain

Quote [12:14]: "anything you do can work, you're going to have to figure out how it works for you"
